Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.

OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Agnes knew that they had to be in their own year groups but it still would have been nice to duel Elsie. Not that she wanted to hurt her girlfriend but it wasn't like they got to spend much time together. Ultimately she'd watched her match the same way the fifth year would watch her, and it was nervewracking to think so many people including her uncle were in the room staring at her. The slytherin concentrated, greeting her opponent, before jumping into action, "Furnunculus" that was one she witnessed in the wing much too often.

Aonghas didn't need to take part in duelling but he was, it was a little fun aside that he knew he'd like doing. He was also pleased that it was Styx over seeing his duel and not any of the other professors. He bowed to his opponent, someone he did not know particularly well and then blocked her spell with a quick shield. "Incendio"

Agnes was shocked to see that fire was Aonghas' spell of choice, what he did plan to do, burn her to the ground? She flashed the spell away cleanly, her wand motion on point as she blocked the spell. "Diffindo." she cast somewhat hesitantly. She knew this one if it hit would hurt him, but wasn't that even more reason to protect himself?

Aonghas didn't care about the spells he was throwing. After all that he'd been doing during the semester, and how terrible his holidays were bound to be, this was a true outlet. He gripped his wand tightly and blocked her spell as it was fired at him. following it with "Densaugeo,"

"Protego," Agnes said quickly, watching Aonghas' spell bounce away from her before it hit and she smiled at her own success. She cast the jelly leg jinx instead, hoping that it would make spells much more difficult for the Hufflepuff

Aonghas knew he wouldn't necessarily care if he won, but he was looking to just have a good fight, release the engery he had, though of course winning would be quite nice. Aonghas put up a quick shield stopping her curse and then went back with "Diffindo,"

Agnes wasn't used to taking centre stage and having so many people looking at her was actually terrifying. Doing everything she could not to focus on the crowd, she managed to block the Hufflepuff's spell, trying to remember her previous training. "Reducto!" she called out, aiming to the floor.

Aonghas moved quickly out of the way as the spell hit the ground in front of him, took quick for him to throw up a shield. It certainly threw him off balance but not enough make him drop his wand, and he wasted no time in just firing back at her, "Stupefy," putting any force he had into it.

Elsie was on the edge of her seat watching Agnes' fight. She didn't know much about the Hufflepuff her girlfriend was fighting, but she hoped he wouldn't hurt her. Though she knew the Professors wouldn't allow anything too serious to continue, she didn't want to have to see Agnes all bloodied and bruised. "Come on, Aggie! You've got this!" She called out, knowing how uncomfortable her girl could be when there were watchful eyes everywhere. "Focus on him, don't worry about anyone else!" She needed to make sure, first and foremost, that she paid attention to the Fergusson boy, because he was the one with this in his hands.​

Agnes was getting frustrated although she knew that wasn't going to help. She wanted to prove herself, that she could do more and do things for herself. She heard Elsie's voice calling up to her and like adrenaline shooting through her it spurred her on even more, "Petrificus Totalus !" she shouted, stepping a few feet closer towards the Hufflepuff.

Aonghas heard a voice from the crowd, some girl was cheering his opponent on. He knew Katia would never stoop so low as to cheer him on like that. He hoped she wouldn't. Not in front of Styx, they had family names to hold up. But he found it almost a little sweet. Certainly as he blocked her next spell it had certainly spurred her on. "That yer girl?" he called out, a little jokingly, but also something he somewhat meant. but he didn't think about it too long and just sent back another "Diffindo,"

Agnes' eyes widened and her heart quickened when the Hufflepuff joked in front of the entire audience that Elsie was her girl. Panic was sweeping through her whole body. Both people that she was trying to keep it a secret from most were watching her. The only way she was going to get away with it was to play it off. She had to, for Elsie's sake. "What?" she looked between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, trying to keep calm and act natural, "No, she's my best friend." Agnes stated, blocking the spell coming her way. Of course it was just a tactic, nothing to panic about. It was a good job no one was close enough to see her shaking right now and she continued to cover it up with a well placed expelliarmus.

Aonghas hadn't really expected that reaction from her, it seemed like it the girl wasn't it would be easy to say no, but she was...defensive about it...That certainly surprised him. "Nae shame in it, if she were," he said, as she assured it was her friend. He blocked her spell with more determination now, he looked over at the girl who'd shouted.But he just sent back a stunning spell

Agnes hated the fact Aonghas seemed to keep pushing it. What the heck did he even know about her situation? It wasn’t about shame. She blocked the Hufflepuffs spell and sent her own tongue tying jinx out hoping that if it hit he would not only lose but stop talking.

He blocked her spell with quick last minute shield, "Ah dinnae mean any offence ye know," He wasn't sure if he was trying to anatognise her or if he really meant it, but it didn't entirely matter. He sent back "Confundo,"

Elsie watched the duel unfold, nervous for Agnes. She couldn’t really hear too much of what was being said, but Agnes looked stressed. She bit her lip. Maybe she shouldn’t have called out, maybe she’d put her off instead of helping her.​

Aonghas shrugged as he blocked her last spell. he couldn't particularly understand why someone might hide who they liked, though of course in his life, it didn't matter who he liked, only that he was marrying katia. He didn't think about himself in any romantic manner towards anyone else because it wouldn't matter. Perhaps though she was like him and instead of having someone to turn to she had an obligation like him. But he put those thoughts aside and focused into on sending back a stupefy.

Willow watched the duel as it unfolded. it seemed like Aonghas seemed to be playing two duels one with magic and one below the belt with whatever he was saying. a way that she duelled but was trying to stop with the banter herself. but she did admit that it made it more fun. She looked at the clock. it was time for the duel to end so that the next one could take place. she looked at @Professor Kalif Styx and signalled that it was time. he would have to call the duel off and pick the winner.

Aonghas Fergusson is the winner.
