Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Analei thought it seemed only fitting for their finals to be between the leaders of the SDA. She was ready to kick Willow's butt though. Analei had been practicing hard, and was excited to show off how good she had gotten. She bowed at her opponent before saying "Good luck Willow." With a friendly smile, Analei shot off the first spell. "Levicorpus!"

It was almost fitting that the two leaders of SDA were the last two people in the competition. it seemed that alistair had chosen well when ith had come down to it. Willow was excited that she was once again in the final and that she had a good shot of rewinning her title. even if she didn't she wouldn't be too upset if analei won. she stepped onto the stage and nodded to professor styx then bowed towards analei. she smiled when her co-leader wished her luck. "Thank you may the best witch win" she said in the amount if time it had taken her to say that analei had already raised her wand and fired a spell at her she dodged it before raising her own wand. "Incarcerous" she said. she had wanted to use this spell in both of her previous duels but her opponents had got to it first and she didn't want to copy their spells.

Analei smiled at Willow's reply, before quickly throwing up a shield, and throwing her own spell, "Langlock!"

Willow watched as ropes sprung from her wand but were blocked by analei before they could bind themselves around her instead they fell to the floor and vanished. she didn't have much time to think before the next spell came towards her. this time she was ready "Protago" she said blocking it easily "you are not going to shut me up that easily. Rictusempra" she said aiming to use a different technique to make it hard for analei to cast spells, and if it worked she would at least get a laugh out of her lame joke.

Analei laughed, blocking Willow's spell before shooting "Confringo!" at her feet, hoping to throw her off her balance and fall over (and drop her wand).

Willow smiled. at least analei saw the funny part of what she was saying. the next spell that came her way was one of the hardest that she had faced so far during the tournament. "Protago Totalum she said hoping to protect both herself and the stage around her. she was thankful that the new spell worked and she was still free-standing. "you want to blow me up? I thought we were friends" she teased. "Diffindo" she said aiming at analysis wand arm hoping that a cut would distract her enough to lose concentration.

Analei laughed lightly at Willow's comment. She had tried it first with Diana, and loved the intensity it brought, and how it usually threw the other person off their game. It definitely was a favorite for her. Her concentration lost by the comment, Willow's spell landed and cut through Analei's arm. Analei swore at both the pain and herself for not being focused. Trying to push the pain aside, Analei threw the first thing she could think of, the jelly fingers curse, back at Willow, preparing herself for another spell.

Willow winced as her spell hit analei. she had hoped the girl would block it or dodge. but apparently not. "are you okay?" she called. before the return of a spell signalled that analeie was at least still in fighting order. "Protago" she said blocking the spell. it would be embarrassing if she lost the duel by dropping her wand. she would be less embarrassed if she lost though being hit by something more impeeding. she thought for a moment as to what to cast next. then she remembered a sneaky spell she had read about but never actually used. umm, Graviatus she said hoping she had it right. it would be interesting to see its effects in action.

Still feeling the pain, Analei was thankful for the small reprieve she got while Willow thought. She gritted her teeth together and moved out of the way of Willow's next spell, surprised that she didn't recognize it. "You're going to have to teach me that one." Analei said, before sending "Confundo!" back.

Willow was slightly disappointed bu, not all that surprised when Analei managed to block dodge her spell. she chuckled as the girl complimented her on it. "Thanks I have never cast it before. I was hoping to see how it worked. she said a cheeky grin on her face. she blocked the next spell before raising her wand again. and instead of aiming it at analei she pointed it at the stage at her feet. "Incendio" she said. she knew what she would do to counteract this spell. and not put the flames out or block it but to use the flame freezing spell to stop them having an effect. she imagined the effect of someone duelling from inside a fire impressive for any spectators to see.

Analei grinned, thoroughly enjoying the duel, even though her arm ached and a small stream of blood was dripping down. Seeing the flames come towards her, Analei conjured water to put it out, "Augamenti!", before sending "Furnunculus!"

this was the best duel she had been part of all season. the range of spells they were using was fun, as she watched as analei put out the flames. effective but boring. as a spell came towards her she ducked hust in time for the light to come flying over her head leaving a slight smell of magic and burnt hair lingering in its wake. she then waved her wand and cast the first spell that came into her head. bat bogies hex. it wouldn't win her the duel but it would be entertaining and hopefully distract analei.

Analei quickly moved out of the way of Willow's curse before sending the canary transfiguration hex at Willow, thinking it would be a funny way to win.

Willow watched as analei dodged her spell. this was a fun duel and just like the lastist quidditch match seems to be lasting a long while. she would say she was getting tired but she was enjoying it too much. as the girl sent aonother spell her way she blocked it. sure her bother liked birds but she didn't want to become one. she then sent the stinging hex towards the hufflepuff.

Analei's arm stung and she was starting to feel tired, but there was no way she was going to give up that quickly and that easily. Pushing through, Analei blocked Willow's spell, and sent another one. "Silencio!"

Willow wasn't surprised that her spell had been blocked. She heard her name called from the audience and glanced across to see who it was. she saw her bother and winked at him. this, however, was not a smart move as she felt herself be hit by a spell she opened her mouth to cast something back but not sound came out. if this had been last year that would have been it, duel lost. but they were sixth years and they were taking defence against the dark arts. which meant they had practised wordless magic. she just hoped that she would be able to get it right. as in class she was getting the spells most times but not every attempt. she glared at analei then stuck out her tongue and focused moving her wand to spell letters in the air. it was harder than she had anticipated not the wand writing as such. but trying to get the letters in mirror writing. but after a moment "bAmn YOU" was written in the air in front of her (a mixture of big and little letters to try and get the most symmetrical versions she could before she waved them away. she then focused. something easy. Petrificus Totalus she thought and was pleased to see a jet of light heading towards analei.

Analei was pleased her spell hit, and she watched with amusement as Willow wrote in the air, letting out a little laugh. She was surprised to see a jet heading her way, and she quickly shot up a shield, and, not wanting to be shown up by Willow, tried to send her own non-verbal Stupefy back.

Willow smiled as her spell went flying towards analei. she may be silent but there was still hope. being silent meant that she had a element of supprise on her side when casting spells at least. she wasnt supprised when analei could block her spell. but was supprised when a jet of red light cam flying towards her. she was too supprised to focus on a shield she ducked to one side and the spell missed her. she then raisedher wand and focused on sending the jelly brain jinx towards the hufflepuff. he was pleased to see that the spell had worked and a weak light went flying towards the girl however by the time it had crossed the stage it was hardly more than a glimmer. even if it hit it would be unlikely to cause much harm.

Analei was content that she had been able to send a nonverbal spell, but with her arm still bleeding and her brain getting tired, she knew she had to focus and do what she was good at if she wanted to win. "Levicorpus!" Analei yelled, after blocking Willow's spell.

Duelling was not a thing that linden thought that he would be any good at. however, he knew his sister was. as she was in the finals today. He headed down to the dungeons to the chamber where they had had the SDA meeting. he took a seat and watched. the girl her sister was against was in his house. a perfect and the girl running the SDA with willow who was not called Emily. if there was one match to watch this one would be it. he took a seat in the spectator area and watched as the girls took to the stage.
He was right it was an impressive match with a different colour of light flying backwards and forwards. he cheered as willow got a hit on the other girl but they both kept going. "Come on willow you can do it" he called after a while. when it seemed like analei was getting tired. he smiled as his sister winked at him as if she had some kind of plan. but then gasped as she was hit by some spell he didn't recognise.
She watched her looking like a fish opening and closing her mouth soundlessly. oh no" he called looking to professor styx surely that was duel over. but then he realised that his sister was doing something letters were appearing in the air. bamn you was that aimed at him or analei? was it both of them? he chuckled. he didn't need his sister to talk to hear her voice saying it he was then pleased to see that she then cast another spell and was still in the game. but now he knew to keep quiet. she may not be as lucky next time.

If there was one way to practice duelling without banter it was to do so when being silenced. she watched analei intently in case she was going to do another non-verbal spell. as soon as she saw the girl move she focused on casting a shield she needn't have worried by the time the girl had finished shouting out the incantation willow had a shield up that she was confident would stand the hit of whatever was coming her way. she was right it withheld the attack willow then focused on a different spell. one that she had practised the most non verbally in class that she was sure she would be able to at least have a chance of hitting analei unlike the last one. Stupify she thought and was pleased to see a healthy-looking jet of red light crossing the stage.

Analei was frustrated that Willow wasn't going down, surely she was getting tired too? Analei tried to remember what her parents said - to use her frustration and anger for good. Blocking another nonverbal spell from Willow, Analei quickly retaliated with the trip jinx.

it was hard for willow to duel without saying anything. maybe she was getting tired. but she missed the usual banter that she led duels with. sure they often lead to distraction but it was fun. the silence was boring. she watched as analei blocked her spell and tried to dodge whatever was coming for her as she had missed the incantation. unfortunately in her haste, she somehow managed to get her feet all tied up in her robes, or was it her shoelaces, or had she been too slow and the spell had hit her? she didn't know. either way, the result was the same. She ended up sprawled face down on the stage. she had been smart and used her arms to block her fall, however, that had led her to drop her wand. the willow stick went rolling across the stage out of her reach. she lowered her head for a seconf and shook it once before shifting into a kneeling position looking up at analei holding both hands up in a sign of surrender. before nodding once a sort of repeat of the bow as best as she could from the floor, She was trying to say good match though body language. before offering her hand to analei to shake. she was defeated but not humiliated as she had been when she had lost to Diana two years ago.

Analei was relieved to see her spell hit Willow and the girl drop her wand, and she felt her body immediately relax. She couldn't believe it! She was so happy. It had been such a good match, and definitely one that Analei vowed to make her practice more. She didn't want a match to be that close again. Analei smiled and bowed her head at Willow in return, taking her hand as a shake, but also to help her up. "You were amazing." She said, still feeling the pain in her arm.
