@Wendall Layton vs @Lysander Summers

Current Points: 150

Wendall was both delighted and terrified to come up against his best friend in his very first duel. The Hufflepuff had been looking forward to this for ages, but he knew that Lysander was likely to be much better than him, and not just because it was likely he would fall off the stage backwards. He nodded as the professor told him to, and braced himself, wand in hand. He knew he had to strike quickly if he wanted to catch the Gryffindor off guard. "Expelliarmus," he said as clearly as he could, pointing his wand at Lysander.

Lysander had been looking forward to duelling his friends since practicing with the SDA, and now that he was here he had second thoughts. It had been fun in his imagination, but he didn't want to risk hurting his best friend. He dipped dramatically at the professors' request, and raised his wand as he raised himself back up. "Rict- Protego!" He incanted quickly, swapping spells at the last minute to defend himself from the one headed his way. "That was fast! Rictusempra!" He complimented his friend, before firing off a laughing charm in retaliation.

Wendall grinned when he managed to catch his friend off guard, throwing out a spell before he had time to say his. Luckily one of Wendall's strengths were that he wasn't fazed by anything like a little bit of blood, so even if he did get hurt he knew he wasn't going to go down without a fight. It looked like Lysander wanted to go on easy on him, and the Hufflepuff hoped he didn't think of him too weak to duel properly. He blocked the oncoming spell, firing stupefy back at his best friend with a grin on his face.

Lysander returned his friends grin, and conjured up another shield to protect himself from the stunning spell. "Locomotor Mortis!" He shouted, casting a leg-locker curse at Wendall's legs. Knowing him, it would probably throw him off balance if it worked, and he'd probably win.

If Wendall got hit with the leg locking jinx, he knew that would have spelt disaster since the second year could barely keep standing as it was. He sort of did a jump in the air which was wasn't really necessary given he managed to block it, before casting the tongue tying jinx at Lysander in the hopes he'd get stuck over his own words.

Lysander laughed at his friend jumping up, and used another protego to protect himself from the tongue-tying jinx. "Not fast enough!" He teased, and dramatically flourished his wand to send a slug-vomiting hex at his friend.

Wendall grinned at Lysander, "Yeah... well..." he didn't have an answer for him as he was too distracted blocking the next spell that came his way. Speed wasn't exactly his speciality, he was just glad he hadn't fallen off the stage yet. "Stupefy!"

Lysander ducked out of the way of the stupefy and raised his wand. It took him a second to think of another spell. Cleaning and repairing charms kept coming to mind instead. What he learned in DADA clashed with the spells Professor Kain had decided to teach that semester, instead of anything useful in a duel. "Haha, this is kinda hard!" He laughed. He didn't really want to stun his friend, just in case he landed wrong. "Oh, I've got it!" He said finally, throwing a slug-vomiting charm at Wendall.

Wendall didn't really mind if he won or lost, it was fun that in his very first duel he had gotten to come up against Lysander, and that had been his main goal really. He relaxed as the Gryffindor tried to think of what spell, but relaxed a little too much to the point he wasn't ready to protect himself when the jinx came towards him. Wendall jump in fright at the realisation he'd become unprepared, shouting out the first thing that came to mind as simultaneously the floorboards decided to squeak behind him. The second year's face flushed instantly but he'd managed to block his friends spell, and dramatically looked behind him and at his feet as though questioning the integrity of the stage in case anyone had witnessed it. Trying to shake it off he returned to his position, brain even more blank than before. "Um, accio,.. lysanders wand," he said, not even sure if that was going to work, but hoping that if he stole his wand maybe he could have the edge.

Lysander gently lowered his wand, looking quizzically at his friend, who seemed distracted by the floor. He shrugged it off when he seemed fine, but his eyes widened as he felt a tug at his wand. "Woah!" He shouted. He held onto it more tightly to avoid letting it slip from his fingers, and did his best to resist being pulled towards the other side of the stage, his feet forced to take quick steps to avoid falling over. "Uh, stupefy!" He shouted as he drew closer, unsure what else he could do to stop being pulled into Wendall.

Wendall hadn't actually expected the spell to work, and laughed as Lysander began to be dragged further towards him. He wondered what would happen if the Gryffindor let go of his wand, he didn't want to get speared. He had a shield up before Lysander had even cast a spell at him. "Erm.. expelliarmus," he said, curious to see what would happen if he now tried to disarm him too.

Lysander threw up his own shield with another protego, while Wendall stumbled along with his expelliarmus. It protected him, and immediately he felt the tug on his wand relinquish. He let the tip drop slightly, pointing it at Wendall's legs. "Tarantallegra!" He shouted with a grin.
