Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

The dueling tournament was one of Analeis favorite things. It was with pride, to say she had won quite a few duels. It was a good way for her to test her focus and skills, and she seemed to be doing really well. With a small smile at her opponent, Analei bowed before firing off the first spell. "Densaugeo!"

Willow was looking forward to the duelling match. she had won the third year tournament last year and whilst she wasn't sure if she would be able to reclaim the title this year she hoped that she would at least put up a good fight. She made her way to the duelling chamber and smiled at her opponent as she got onto the stage before setting her face in a serious expression as they were instructed to bow. Analei was quicker to make the first move and willow waved her wand. "Protago" she said. blocking the spell. "I quite like my confundo teeth they way they are thanks." she said casting a spell in the middle of her sentence.

Analei scowled when Willow blocked her spell, but luckily she was paying attention as Willow shot a spell in the middle of a sentence. Analei threw up a Protego at the last minute, which shattered as Willows spell hit. Analei was not impressed to have been caught off guard like that. Analei quickly shot a spell back, hoping Willow was unprepared. "Stupefy!"

Willow was slightly disapointed when analae managed to block her spell she had hoped that she would have distractedthe girl enough. "protago" she said as ajet of red light come towards her. thankfully she managed to block it. once it had dissipated she waved her wand again casting the bat bogie jinx.

Analei knew that Willow was going to be a tough person to beat, but it didn't stop her from being frustrated when she blocked her spell. Analei threw up another Protego to block Willows spell before sending the Conjunctivitis Curse back.

willowwasa little annoyed as the girl managed to block her spell. not that I could be expected. it was early in the match. a spell was fired back at her and she ducked it flew over her head, she could feel at as skimmed the top of her red hair. she waved her wand as she stood up casting the first spell that came to her mind. "Expelliarmus" she said as she stood up. it was an easy spell but a good one.

Willow could see that the other girl was seeming to gain more confidence. she didn't feel like she was losing any ground. she may have ducked instead of casting a spell but it was not a sign of weakness. "protago" she said blocking the spell heading towards her. she waved her wand again and cast the bat bogey hex. it wasn't one that would win her the match. but it was a fun one and something that would distract the girl and entertain her if it hit.

It was frustrating to see Willow block her spell again, but Analei took a deep breath between that and throwing up her own Protego. She never understood the use of silly spells in this competition. "Expelliarmus!"

willow was a bit annoyed that the girl had blocked her bat bogies so easily protago she said casting up a shield it was her turn again. This time she cast the body bind curse and hoped that it would strike home.

Analei groaned when Willow blocked her again, and she quickly put up yet another shield charm, before sending off her own, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Willow rolled her eyes as analei blocked her charm and laughed as she case her counter attack."Protago" she said through a titter. "Running out of ideas are you do you want to copy me next spell?" she called. Analei was playing too serious. Duels were more fun when some funny spells were cast to inconvenience the opponent. last year she spent half a duel with fur growing from everywhere. the challenge of it was half the fun. Lets try shaking things up a little" she added before casting the jelly brain jinx.

Analei's eyes narrowed as her opponent taunted her. It didn't throw her off, if anything, it made her more focused and ready to kick her butt. Angrily, Analei threw up a Protego before sending "Diffindo!"

this match was getting boring they were both rather evenly matched and anali wasn’t fighting back with anything other than protago and strong spells. Willow was so caught up in this thought that she forgot to shield herself from the spell that was heading her way. She ended up having to dodge but wasn’t fast enough. The spell hit her on the arm. ThAnkfully not her wand arm. Ouch. She could already feel the pain of being hit and feel the warm blood starting to well up she looked at the ref with an expression that said don’t you dare call the match before looking at her opponent they were my new robes she said exprlararmus Shell added. If she hadn’t been determined before the sensation of blood running down her arm onto her hand. And the pain that came with it made her determined now. .

Analei smirked as she saw her spell hitting, and she hoped that would be the end of it. Instead, Willow growled at her for damaging her robes. Analei shrugged before protecting herself from the spell thrown at her. "Stupefy!" She called back almost immediately.

Willow could feel the pain in her arm as she moved. she held it up against her body to try and hold it still. "Protago" she said as analei sent another spell her way. sheh ad to be on the ball now with her shield as it would hurt to dodge. she let her mind briefly go to her parents something that always made her able to push through a pain. every month they went through far worse pain than this all over their bodies. this was nothing. she was sure once the duel was over either the headmistress or one of the nurses would be able to heal her in a moment. she raised her wand again her mind on her parents she almost cast the fur growing hex instead she changed her mind and cast the Jelly brain jinx.

Willow was looking forward to the duel being over. her arm was stinging and she could feel the blood now running off her hand and a couple of drips hitting the floor but she was not going to let that stop her. as analei blocked her spell yet again she raised her wand ready for a counterspell "protago" she said almost lazily. blocking the girl's spell. she then remembered a spell she had learned recently. it wasn't the most aggressive spell but unless analei knew non-verbal magic she wouldn't be able to continue fighting after she was hit. "could you just shut up with the same five spells already you are starting to sound like a stuck record silencio she said casting the spell at the end.

Jatin did not really know what dueling was, so he was very excited to learn something new about the magical world! Of course, he was at Willow's duel to support her. She was one of the first people he had met at Hogwarts New Zealand, and she proved to be a great friend and resource to him to learn about the magical world. Jatin was paying close attention to the match, and when the other girl's spell hit Willow, Jatin was very shocked. There was even a little blood and it made him tear up a little bit. This did not seem like something that was fun to him. However, he continued to watch.

Analei noticed the blood dripping off of Willow's arm, and she felt bad, but knew she had to focus on winning the duel. She rolled her eyes as Willow spoke again, but missed the spell at the end of the sentence. She felt herself get hit by the silencing spell. Analei had never done a non-verbal spell before. Of course she had read about them. Analei glared at Willow, trying to cast finite on herself but just a pathetic spark flew out o her wand.

Willow heard a sound from the spectator stands and glanced over to see Jatin there. watching her. she didn't look for more than a fraction of a second as she couldn't afford to lose concentration of the match. When she looked back Willow was a little surprised to see analei pointing her wand at herself trying to cast something that ended in a small spark. The girl had been so quick with her shield cham all match that she was starting to think she wouldn't be able to get a spell half way to her but she had to smile despite her own pain. was this match over. she couldn't remember the specific wording in the rules. was it disarmed? or knocked out? or unable to cast a spell. she couldn't remember. if she cast a spell now would it be seen as overkill if she had already won. she didn't know. "Expelliarmus" she said. it wasn't too aggressive but it would be seen more definite, sh could always give the wand back with no real repercussions if needed to.

Willow smiled as she was announced the winner. she waved her wand one more time. "Finite" she said reversing the spell on Analei and letting her talk again. she then bowed at both opponent and professor before walking over to the latter. "Sorry, professor Alicastell. would you be able to heal my arm" she said. taking off her robes leaving to show her arm. the cut was a decent size and depth but thankfully it had missed the important anatomy. the amount of blood that had run down her arm and been dragged accross it by her robes made it look worse than it probably was. she then looked at the stands towards jatin a big smile on her face and waved. she was glad she had won the match and not lost again in front of her first-year friend, fan. she half expected him to be heading over to give her a hug as that is what he seemed to do every time he saw her.
 
"no you can BLEED" katherine shouted, whipping out her snake ring to reveal that she was a member of the SCITORARI BLOOD MAGIC FACTION.

"Indeed I can, Miss Cullen. No need to apologise to me. Episkey." The Headmistress responded with a small smile. Almost motherly, if you squinted at her the right way. The bloody wound closed over with a touch of her wand until there was nary a mark, and within the moments that followed, the scarlet stains on the girls skin were washed away by a flurry of warm, soapy suds, and the tattered sleeve stitched itself back together. Once the woman had finished her silent incantations to repair the damage done, she stood back. "There. Do try to be faster with your defensive spells. Best of luck to you in your next round."
