Y33 Dueling Match #20

[Katherine Alicastell]

With the first round over and done with, Katherine allowed for a brief intermission in order to rejuvenate the competitors, and to tend to those who had been defeated before the beginning of the second round. With everything in order, the Headmistress lead the refreshed duelists onto the platform, and took her own place on a podium overlooking them. "Wands at the ready. Now, bow and commence." The woman announced, allowing them to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Though the gash in Arvel's shoulder was healed, the ghost of its sting lingered behind. He was pleased he'd won the first round, but shaken by the somewhat traumatic way it had ended. As he bowed to Mazikeen, he silently prayed he wasn't going to see any more blood today. "Rictusempra," he said, beginning the way he had last time, with a less violent spell. It was time to see how Mazikeen was going to play.

Mazikeen had never really made it to the second round, she enjoyed Duelling but she'd never done very well, until now. The teen bowed to Arvel and blocked his spell when it was fired at her. "Reducto," she threw back.

Arvel wasn't going to lose focus this time. He had to prove, if only to himself, that he could do this. He blocked Mazikeen's spell with a shield charm, and then fired Furnunculus in response.

Mazikeen was always a little disappointed when her spells didn't hit, but she just blocked the one he threw at her and followed it with a trip jinx back towards Arvel. She was somewhat determined that if this was the round she lost at to still do as well as possible

"Protego," Arvel countered quickly. How could he take Mazikeen out without physically hurting her? He racked his brain for more spells, finally sending a jelly-brain jinx her way.

If Analei wasn't going to win the competition, then it had to be Arvel. She was glad he had won his previous duel, and she stood watching his next one, feeling excited for him. She watched as Mazikeen seemed to be the one sending the more intense spells, and Analei frowned. "Come on Arvel," Analei muttered. She didn't want to cheer or anything in case it distracted him.

A voice in the crowd distracted Maze enough that she had to duck out of the way of the spell that was thrown at her. She cast, "Confundo," back at him.
