[Monty Pendleton]

The first round of duels had been fraught, but Monty knew from experience that the second round would be even more intense as the winners mounted the stage to face one another. After explaining the rules once more, he let the students begin, keeping a close eye on them.

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.


The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

With April out of the way, there were just two more students to beat before Alistair would be crowned the champion of his year, and already he felt more confident in the fact he'd be victorious. His time spent practicing spells in the Forest was paying off. Readying himself on one end of the platform, Alistair greeted and bowed towards his opponent - the Ministers relative, by the sound of her surname. That would make his victory all the more impactful. Straightening back up, the boy quickly fired off the first spell. "Petrificus Totalus!"

Phoebe was glad she had beaten her first opponent, and wanted to fight her way to the top. She grinned at the boy on the other side of the platform, though she hardly knew who he was. She gave him a slight bow, then got ready to block his first spell. She managed to put up a shield in charm, then fired a spell of her own. "Incendio!"

Brows furrowed in concentration, Alistair raised his wand, shielding himself from the oncoming jet of flames. As the fire parted and dispersed, he followed up with a quick jelly-fingers curse in an attempt to get the Holland girl to drop her wand.

Phoebe was a little sad her spell was blocked, but anticipated the spell in return. She blocked the boy's spell too with a protego, then quickly fired back another spell. "Silencio!" If he couldn't speak, he couldn't cast spells and would be an easy target.

Silencio was a smart move, and Alistair just barely managed to avoid it with a last minute shield, before firing back with a quick and easy "Stupefy!". Not exactly an original spell, but he was desperate to win and prove himself.

Phoebe blocked the boy's spell with ease, rolling her eyes. "Boring!" She said in a singsong voice, then she grinned and sent a babbling curse the boy's way. She had used Stupefy in the past herself, and didn't really mind. She mostly hoped he would be distracted by her, which would give her a chance to win.

Boring? The comment irked Alistair, who narrowed his eyes and raised his wand. "Protego!" He shouted, the frustration in his voice evident by this point. He'd show her. Waving his wand, he quickly followed it up with an instant-scalping hex hoping it'd work and teach her a lesson.
