After their triumphant win against the Hogwarts New Zealand team last year, Jessica couldn't be prouder to be a co-captain of the Quidditch team this year. Of course she was a little sad that her best friend was no longer a co-captain along with her, but she felt more confident than ever in having Brendan as her co-captain for this year. He had always been a significant player on their team, and now that they had a win against against Hogwarts New Zealand to show for it, she felt the pressure more than ever to continue that streak. Though their team had lost a significant amount of players due to graduation, she had hope that they'd find new talent at tryouts today. Jessica stood at the pitch with the chest of game balls at her feet for today. She looked over at her fellow red head (although hers was dyed) and smiled at him briefly before addressing everyone first.

"Hello everyone, welcome and thank you for your interest in trying out for the Quidditch team. My name is Jessica Park and I am one of the co-captains for this year, and Brendan Fulke here is your other co-captain." She smiled and gestured beside her, pausing to let him introduce himself before continuing. "If you were on the team last year with an official position, you do not need to try out again to keep your position, but if you were an alternate, you will need to try out again to earn a permanent position," she said in her noticeable accent. "As you may have heard, we beat Hogwarts New Zealand last year and we're keen on repeating that again, so please give it your best," she said with a small grin. She looked to Brendan to see if he had anything to say himself before they got started.

OOCOut of Character:
Anyone on the team line up last year (as posted above) can get their spot back by posting in this topic. If you were on the team last year but no longer wish to be: please send a PM informing me, or simply don't post, and we will fill your spot.

If you try out keep a few things in mind:
- If you're new to the team, you will be listed as having played from this year forward. In the beginning we let people decide how long their character had been playing, but from now on Beauxbatons works like any other Quidditch team in this regard.

- If you don't have your OOC name connected to your character, please add it to the post in an OOC note. We'd need to contact you on your main account for announcements and games, since the Beauxbatons side accounts (understandably) don't get checked as often.

- Please keep in mind that the game you are trying out for won't be for a while, since it will take place at the end of the IC school year. There will be three or four practice sessions in between, which are are just as important as matches since it's the only experience this team gets before the actual game, and participation is vital to retaining the Beauxbatons Quidditch team on the site. Keep in mind that you are expected to participate in the practice sessions as well as the final game.

- Please make it clear which year your character is in, whether in your tryout post or in your member title. If your member title still reflects the year from Y29, we ask you to update it for clarity's sake.

The previous year had ended on a high note, with Beauxbatons victory against the New Zealand Hogwarts team, and a few new pen pals along the way. This year, Brendan was hoping to keep it up with yet another win, but with the team losing a good portion of their members, they'd really need to step up their game to continue their streak. They really took a blow with some of the best players graduating, but it was a void he hoped they'd be able to fill. The chaser himself had taken up a new position, one as a co-captain, and it was a title and role he'd never expected to take on, and he was grateful to have Jessica to lean on with her experience. Slugging his broom over his shoulder, Brendan exchanged a grin with Sica and listened as she dove right in to welcome everyone and explain the try-outs. He introduced himself with a quick wave and a brief "Hey, guys!" as she gestured toward him, and once she'd finished speaking, he tried to think of something to say, though really it had all already been said. "There are some pretty big shoes to fill this year, and a lot of expectations, so I'd like to see everyone giving it their all. Being on this team could mean an international game, a chance to play against other schools, other countries, just as any professional quidditch player would do. It opens up a lot of opportunities in future to have this experience, so if you want a really want a position, take it. Show us that you've got more to offer than anyone else trying out." He wanted to win again badly, to prove to Hogwarts it wasn't a once off win, and that Beauxbatons were a team to be reckoned with. But, he did have to remember they were all still teenagers after all. "And, er, try to have fun."

After winning last year with the team, Elvira was excited to try out again and hopefully get a permanent position on the team. The old seeker had graduated, so there was a spot for her. Hopefully. She made her way to the pitch, not surprised to see Brendan had made co-captain along with Jessica. She waved at them both before listening to what they had to say. Then she stepped forward. "Elvira Rojas, trying out for seeker." She said with a grin before taking to the air. Part of her felt like she had proven herself in the last match, but she knew she had to try out and still do well. She zoomed around the pitch, largely ignoring everyone else trying out in order to focus on finding the snitch. Part of her knew she had been lucky during the last match, and she just hoped she would manage to get lucky again during tryout. She grinned at Brendan and Jessica, hoping they would go easy on her if she didn't find the snitch during tryouts. Then she suddenly felt something brush past her face. She turned to see a gold glint fly away from her. With a gasp, she started chasing after it frantically. If she managed to catch the snitch during tryouts the spot on the team would surely be hers. She flew after it, avoiding other players and bludgers while she flew with a single minded determination. It was exhausting, but she was catching up slowly. By the time she managed to get within reaching distance, her breath was coming fast. Her hand wrapped around the little golden ball and she yelled in triumph. "I did it!" She said, showing it off. Then she let it go again so anyone else could have a turn too. She grinned. This had gone well.

The beaux boy had thoroughly enjoyed being able to go to New Zealand, his old school, and win a quidditch game at it. They had worked so hard during the year, they deserved it. He arrived at the pitch to see the two new captains stood at the front. He greeted them both with a smile, nodding at them, hoping that he would once again be allowed on the team. The boy ran a hand through his hair as he waited for them to finish. It appeared that both had a lot to say. He had been an alternate chaser last year, and he hoped to at least get that again. Jamie held his broom up, ”Jamie Derouin, for chaser,” the teen said to them with a brightness, his old accent on the french clearly fading as the french became far more natural.

He got on the broom and shot up into the air. He flew around for a moment before he focused upon doing what he needed to do. The boy had spent some time during the holidays flying around, but it probably hadn’t been as much as the others within the team. He pushed forward grabbing the ball as it was thrown to him before then throwing it to someone who was closer and had a better chance of scoring quickly. He eventually got the ball back, but this time pushed forward himself until he reached the goal and threw the ball. It was caught by the keeper, but it didn’t put the boy off, he kept going. He spent the time wisely, he tried to score more and more and even got some shots in. It was good, by the try-outs end he was feeling pretty happy with what he had managed to do.

After the last year she'd had with this team, there was no question in Celine's mind that she wouldn't once again try out for a spot on the school Quidditch team. Although she hadn't actually been able to be a part of the match they'd been training all year for, their win against the New Zealand school and her disappointment that she hadn't been able to contribute to it had completely decided her. Whereas last year she had been quite happy with an alternate position, having only been aiming to dip her toes into the game competitively, this year she wanted to go all the way and become the team's main keeper. She didn't feel like she'd done too badly in the practices, and since the old keeper had left the school, she was now technically the one with the most experience...right? Celine felt she definitely had a shot, at least.

Thankfully, she didn't have to worry about Elvira in any way. Her friend having been the one to win the match for them last year made Celine confident that the captains would already have a good idea what Elvira could contribute to the team - it was Celine that would have to prove herself. She listened to Jessica and Brendan quietly, noting that they seemed like they would work well together as a pair. At least, she hoped so. Arguing captains didn't seem like a fun situation to be part of. It wasn't even particularly comfortable to think about, so Celine shook the idea from her head and prepared to mount her broom. "Celine Lussier, trying out for Keeper," she told the captains, and then kicked off to make her way towards the designated hoops. Facing off against the first chaser to reach her, Celine was pleased that she managed to catch the shot. It was a good start to the tryout for her, and she managed to block several more over the course of the allotted time - although she also missed quite a few as well, but she hoped it was because the chasers were just so good, rather than any huge mistakes on her part. She left the tryout feeling quite proud of herself, and hoping to make this Quidditch year much better than her first.

Already Fletcher found herself in her third year at Beauxbatons. How was time moving so quickly? This year she was finally about to learn a few new subjects, and she couldn't wait to get started. On top of that she had seen during her last year the rise of the Quidditch team, and while the teen didn't know too much about the sport she thought it looked like fun, besides she was a reasonably good shot during her archery lessons as a child and could do with the fresh air and exercise. Making her way to the pitch she listened as the Captain introduced themselves, and watched in awe as the older students began to practise. "Fletcher Mercier. Trying out for beater" she said once it was her turn, her bright auburn curls neatly piled on the top of her head. Shed thought about what position she would try out for for some time, and while she didn't particularly like the idea of hitting anyone with the terrifying looking bludgers, she also didn't feel like watching her classmates possibly being taken down by the opposing team.

Mounting her broom she quickly sped off into the air, bat in one hand as she went in search of the brown ball. It didn't take her long to find it heading towards another student on the pitch, and she pull all her focus into reaching it before it reached the player. As she approached, she raised her bat, taking aim, before swiping at it through the air. The tip of the hat made contact, and while only just it was enough for its path to be diverted. She sighed in relief, before realising the second one was flying straight towards her. Fletcher hovered for a moment, leaning back and still in order to get the most energy behind her hit, and narrowing her eyes she thwacked it as hard as she could, sending it off straight up into the air. After a few more attempts Fletcher flew to the ground, handing back the bat and taking a seat to the side for a drink. Flying was thirsty work, but she just hoped she'd done enough.

The blonde girl decided to go and try out for the Quidditch Team. She always looked from the bench, but she felt the urge to play herself. Cheryl and her family lived in The Netherland were her mother was born. They decided to settle down there and since their mother also went to this school Cheryl wanted to follow the same path. Her cousin Evangeline on the other hand went to Hogwarts New Zealand. Cheryl had always been a fan of quidditch so why not try out and see where the ship would strand. The blonde was optimistic and felt it was a nice thing to do such stuff. The blonde made her way to the field and looked around to the students who already stood there. Cheryl didn't really had some positions she really wished to play, for her everything was good. She thought of herself as a chameleon that could play on any position. The blonde smiled as she stood with the others and when it was her turn she looked confident at the others. '' Hi! Cheryl Campbell. I guess I can play on any position but I'm trying out for Keeper.'' The blonde was ready to show what she got. Cheryl was confident of herself and just wanted to have a good time and being on the team seemed like something great. The team seemed like a bunch of lovely people together, so she wanted to be a part of it. Cheryl took her broom inside of her hands and mounted it quickly. When it was her turn she kicked off from the ground and flew fast in the directions of the hoops, that she needed to defend.

The blonde looked to the others and hold her broom for a moment to find her balance. She had to defend those three rings, it was her job to let nothing true. Or she tried to catch as much as she could. When the first chaser came quickly in her way the blonde smiled confident. When the first shot came the blonde was suprised of how hard it was. She had closed her eyes before she knew it, but managed to hold it. Cheryl was pleased with the beginning of her try out and smiled happy. '' WOOH!'' Cheryl threw the quaffle back and was ready for the next shots. She managed to block a lot of them but missed a few too. The chasers were good and those who tried out did their very best too the blonde thought. Cheryl flew back to the ground as she was done and thanked the team for the opportunity. She had great fun and that was what all mattered. But she wanted to have the position in the team really bad, that was a sure thing.

"I'm Maia and I'm trying out for Beater," She said introducing herself to the captains before going off to join the other Beaters.

Soon, it was Maia's turn to take to the air, she kicked off the ground and leaned forward to gain some momentum as she rose into the air. The girl gripped her bat hard and scanned the skies for sudden movement. She looked over at some of the chasers as they were practicing taking shots and the keepers trying to save them when she suddenly noticed something plummeting towards one of the hopeful chasers as they were preparing to take a shot. Maia leaned forward and exploded towards the Chaser, one hand on her broom handle and the other gripping the bat firmly, preparing for the impact. She whizzed past the chaser to intercept the bludger and without thinking, she swung her bat forward and smashed the bludger back in the opposite direction. Maia smiled and adjusted the hand on her broom and curled back to find a vantage point. For the rest of her try-out, she had hit two more bludgers saving both the Seeker and a Keeper from getting hurt.

Théodore did his best to hide his nerves behind a semi-confident facade as he stood with the group of students gathered around the base of the pitch, his clammy hands betraying how his heart was feeling. It was both parts exciting and intimidating to be present, with both the opportunity to really get into the sport and boost his experience to one day play professionally, as well as a potential match against foreign schools in the nearer future, getting a spot on the team at all seemed like a dream to the french youth. However, standing there, surrounded by all of these older, experienced players, he felt his chances looked a little bleak. There was so much competition, and as a second year, he'd hardly flown half as much as a handful of the others. He didn't want to let that dampen his spirits, as hard as it was to not think about it, and mentally reassured himself. They all had to start somewhere, just like him, and if he didn't succeed this year, there was always the next to try-out for.

Re-adjusting his grip on his broomstick, Théo listened intently to the co-captains speak to the group, and as people started to introduce themselves and take to the sky, he rushed forward to give them his name, eager to join the others up there early and show them he had what it took. "Theodore Lacroix, trying out for Seeker." Compared to the other roles, it seemed to be the most difficult to get, but it was the most appealing out of all of them. A seeker was the star of the game, the difference between winning and losing. He didn't have the highest of hopes for getting a spot on the team as a core member, but if he could even make it in as an alternate, he'd be pleased. He'd seen Elvira play during their practices, and heard about their victory against New Zealand when she'd caught the snitch, so as he finally kicked off the ground, he kept an eye out for her, trying to copy her playstyle and find any kind of strategy, something more than just flying in circles trying to find a speeding golden ball, though that's what he felt like he was doing for the majority of the practice. He couldn't keep his attention between both player and snitch, and eventually opted just to do his best to find it. The youth felt like he was getting nowhere fast, every time he thought he saw it, it was gone, and for a brief time when he thought he'd been chasing it for a solid minute, it turned out to just be a spot of light in his eyes from the sun.

It was almost by luck when he did finally find the fluttering orb close enough to pursue, no doubt after Rojas already had managed to catch it first. As it whizzed past his broom, he accelerated after it, hand desperately outstretched and waving wildly. After what felt like an age of chasing the snitch, his fingertips finally closed over the golden sphere - only for it to slip through his sweaty hands. Reflexively he pinched his fingers, grasping it by one wing before it had a chance to slip entirely away, and stopped flying with an almost bewildered expression. "I did it!" He called out, thrusting his arm up triumphantly for anyone to see. In the same action, the snitch managed to snag itself free of his fingertips, and it buzzed off away, leaving him alone with an empty hand. Had they seen him get it? He couldn't be entirely sure anyone had noticed, and so spent the rest of the practice attempting to locate and capture it once more, albeit unsuccessfully.

Leah Hensel wanted to get some experience in France, where her mother hailed from, even more so when her mother died. Leah transferred to Beauxbatons this year, and already she felt at home. While she had some practice playing Quidditch at her home school, she got used to a normal broom over the summer break, and decided that she would try out at the Beauxbatons school. She was used to practicing as a chaser, but this time, she wanted to have the keeper position, or at least, be an alternate. As long as she was part of the team, it would help her adjust to the new school. At least she knew the language, but a part of her felt that she would miss the Russian school with a passion. Regardless, she would start over here, write to her friends in the other school, and fit in somewhere. If she could anyway. Leah made her way down to the pitch to see that try outs were just starting. She looked to the girl with strange colored hair, and another boy, seeing that they were captains. Good, she could talk to them there!

"Hi, um, I'm Leah Hensel. I just transferred here from Koldovstoretz this year. And, I am here to try out for keeper, or be an alternate one. Whichever!" Leah smiled before she mounted her broom. She took off for a lap to get warmed up, and went to one side of the pitch to block some goals. She saw some chasers coming her way, before she braced herself. Leah attempted to block the goal, and missed completely. Leah blushed heavily. She grimaced and groaned as she tied her hair back tightly. The next few rounds, she got better and better, but she definitely needed some work. Leah was out of practice for blocking, since she was better suited for the chaser position. Leah also felt strange on this type of broom, since she was used to what her old school used. But try outs were over. Leah landed, smiled toward the captains. She hoped she did okay enough to at least be part of the team.

Cassi was making her way down the pitch to try out for the Quidditch Team. This would be her first time to try out since ever. She took Elvira's advice to try out and honestly, this might help her be more confident around other people. She also wanted to see if she could live her keeper or chaser skills. Skills that she had acquired playing with her cousins. She had finally reached the pitch and almost panicked by the number of people already there. She almost backed out but was somehow comforted to see Elvira also there. Taking a deep breath, she slowly made her way there and waited for her turn. Finally, it was her turn and she stepped out to the center. "Hi! Uhmm..", she cleared her throat."I'm Cassiopeia Sparkes, trying out for Keeper." Given the signal, she mounted her broom and flew up to the goal posts.

When she was up already, Cassi stretched her neck, loosening some nerves from her. Just a few seconds after the whistle was blown, the first Chaser came towards her with the quaffle. She, hovering in between the three goal posts, tried to calculate the chaser's next move. The chaser feigned a left, making her flew there directly but she soon realized the plan and tried to make it up. Reaching out her right arm, she was able to barely grasp the quaffle and save it from getting through the goal post. She released a breath of relief at her first point. She barely had a minute to spare before the second chaser came fast. Cassi was taken by surprise by the quaffle which made her unable to save it. Shaking her head, she got herself in position, determined to save the remaining three quaffles. Soon enough, the third one was fast approaching. It was a move she knew from her cousin so she was already prepared for it. She stayed put in her position and on the last second, dashed towards it and hit the quaffle with her broom, sending it to the left side of the chaser. Biting back a grin, she faced the fourth quaffle coming towards her aiming for the other side of the goal posts. She flew over there, saving the goal in a nick of time. She wiped a trickle of sweat on her forehead. Last goal. The nervousness was gone already. She was, in fact, enjoying it. She set her eyes on the last chaser approaching her and when he was just only a few meters away, threw the quaffle at an amazing speed. It was heading for the center goal post. Cassi hovered between the two posts, giving her allowance to move in case it would swerve in another direction. When it was within her reach, she punched it with all her might, the ball flying in the opposite direction, away from her and the goal posts behind her.

She had done it. The whistle blew and Cassi exhaled as she leaned down, touching back the ground. She was still shaking from the adrenaline rush but she was happy with her performance. Four out of five was not bad. She was just hoping she could qualify even as an alternate. She gave the co-captains a polite smile and stepped off the pitch to the sides and sat next to her new friend.

Emma made her way to the Quidditch pitch with her broom in one hand though she didn't expect to do much flying. She joined up with her teammates and stood back while she watched the newbies try out. It was an exciting tryout since half the positions on the team were now up for grabs. Emma was intrigued to see how the team would look when the dust settled.

OOCOut of Character:
Try-Outs are now officially closed and the team can be found below. Another list, along with upcoming practice dates, will likely be posted in the On Topic Board soon, so stay tuned.
