James couldn't believe he would be captaining the Gryffindor team without Rudolf. It felt wrong, being on the pitch without his best friend felt like something was missing, but James knew Rudolf and his family had done what was best for him and James understood it, even if he didn't like it. Of course, Rudolf's departure meant there was a space available for a new chaser. James was hoping that he would have more options in the coming year, especially after things had got messy with two of their players being banned for the final game. As far as he knew both players were free to rejoin the team and after struggling with the decision he had decided they would be granted the same protection as the other regulars. No matter how tempting it had been to make them tryout again.

The air was crisp as James made his way to the pitch and began to set up for the tryouts. His broom leaned upright against the players bench and the chest lay open on the ground, it shaking slightly as the bludgers fought for their freedom. One by one returners and newcomers alike began to show up. James checked his watch and decided to begin. "For those not on the team last year my name is James Cade, I am the seeker and captain of this team. This year we have an opening at chaser so I will be watching that group of trialists the closest, but as we learned the hard way last year that alternates are vital to any team so good luck to any trying out for filled positions, you never know when we may need to call on you," James paused and looked around at the group. "Lets get to work,"

Wyatt was pleasantly surprised to hear that he didn't have to try out for the Quidditch team again after the unfortunate incident regarding his punishment so he made his way to the pitch and waited for tryouts to begin, cringing when James references both he and Marisol.

Listening to his mother's advice, Tomas decided to try out for a position on the Quidditch team. After James' speech, the second year walked up to him and introduced himself and the position he was trying out for. "Tomas Wode, trying out for Seeker." He knew that the captain was currently holding that position but hoped that once he'd graduate he himself could take over from him. Tomas mounted his new Scarlet Streak and kicked himself off into the air. The second year kept his eyes open for the snitch once James released the little, golden ball. A few times during his search, he thought that he had seen a glint of gold in the corner of his eyes only to find out that it was nothing once he turned his head to look at it properly. Without realising it before it was too late, the Snitch shot passed his head, making him pull up quickly to make sure that he wasn't going to lose it this time. Tomas zigzagged around the pitch to avoid getting hit or hitting players and bludgers and quickly began to catch up with the golden ball. Panting from how intense chasing the Snitch was, the Gryffindor held out his arm and clenched his fist as he reached for the ball, cheering loudly before flying down to the ground with the Snitch struggling to break free from his grasp.

Jess felt quite strange about having to tryout for her brother, but the girl desperately wanted to play Quidditch and it just so happened that James was her house captain. She just had to focus on what she could control and try to ignore the fact that it was all for her brothers benefit. Jess made her way onto the Quidditch pitch with her broom over her shoulder and barely interacted with her brother as she fell into line with the other players who were trying out. Once James was done with his little Captains speech Jess stepped forward, "Jessica Cade, trying out for chaser,"

Jess climbed onto her broom and took to the air, picking up a quaffle as she went. She lined herself up in front of the keeper and waited until she was given the go ahead to start. She threw the quaffle from where she was and missed the hoop completely. Jess shyly looked to see if James was watching, he was and she blushed. Jess tried to block out the thought of James's watchful eye and continued. Leaning forward on her broom, Jess began to move around more and tried to catch the keeper off guard. She threw the quaffle toward the centre hoop after making the keeper move and it went through. Jess scored again when she threw the quaffle to the left hoop and it was just beyond the keepers reach. Jess went on to score again but missed her final shot. Making her way down to the ground Jess was not happy with her tryout, but there was nothing she could do now.

Marisol was rather surprised to find that she wouldn't have to try out for the team again given their punishment last year, but she wouldn't deny that she was relieved. She and Wyatt had worked too hard to be on the team for them to have it potentially taken away by a younger student. When she walked out onto the pitch she smiled at James briefly as a thanks. She scowled when he mentioned the situation last year and why they would need alternates, but brushed it off. She was here now and she wasn't planning on going anywhere.

Syrus snuck out with one of the school's broom in hand. He decided this year he would try out, regardless of his family's stance on flying. He thinks he could manage quite well with a broom. And if he did get hurt, the school healers were available if that happen. But to avoid any disputing with Stella, he went out for tryouts on the down low. He had ignored all signs of tryouts until that day had come.

Syrus arrived at the pitch, his hair in a mess and dressed up in sweats. It be a quick run for him, even if he didn't make the team. He still had a chance to be an alternative. "Hey, Syrus Stilinksi here! Trying out for chaser, if not beater." He had made up his mind, and thought it wouldn't be so difficult if he equates them to muggel sports. And that's what he did.

He took for the skies, chasing the quaffle with those already on the team. Like basketball on a court, except no one dribble the quaffle. It flew one hand to another, Syrus chased each player. He spotted one of them lifting their arm to begin to pass it along, Syrus swooped in with a quick interference. He did that multiple times, but unfortunately made only two in of his own.

Syrus flew down, out of breath, yet still grinning ear to ear. "Awesome! That was fun! Thanks for the chance!"

Even though it had been years since her own tryout now, Lizzie still felt oddly nervous heading down to the pitch to watch her new potential teammates try their hands. What kinds of people made the team could really dictate how their year was going to turn out, and she hoped they would be up to the task. Greeting her teammates, Lizzie watched the tryouts carefully, surprised at how small the new second years looked. Had she really been that young when she joined? It was a strange feeling, but as she helped run the new hopefuls through their drills, Lizzie felt like she could see some real potential in some of them. Hopefully this year would be a good one for Gryffindor.

Marcos was nervous. No, that wasn't quite right, Marcos was beyond nervous about this. He had decided at long last to try out for the team, but the boy was so nervous about it. He didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of the current team and all the other people trying out. He sighed slightly as he stood within the crowd of other gryffindors. He didn't think he'd make the team this year, perhaps an alternate but not the full team. The young gryffindor rubbed his hands against the quidditch gear and held the old school broom. He smiled slightly as the captain began speaking and nodded along with what he said. There was an excitement that filled him as the older boy spoke. His nerves lingered but at the very least he was quite excited at the prospect of perhaps being able to play and help by being an alternate. The position of chaser wasn't the one he was going for really, he would rather not play that, but he knew it was one of the positions he could play. The chilean boy ran a hand through his hair and stepped forward when instructed to, "Marcos Morales, and I'm here to try out for keeper, but I can also make a fair chaser," the boy nodded as he finished.

Marcos swung on to the broom and shot up into the sky. He flew around for a moment, getting his bearings before positioning himself in the goals. He knew that the team already had a great keeper, but if alternates were important they were important in all the positions. The boy flew to the goals and did his best effort to block the shots coming towards him from the current chasers and those trying out. He mostly just tried to catch the ball and best guess which goal it would be thrown into. He wasn't overly successful, out of seven goals he saved three and missed four, however, only once had he gone to the wrong goal. However, the boy was feeling pretty proud of himself. He took the remaining few minutes of the try-outs to actually try his hand at scoring. Marcos was a little better at catching the ball then, given it was thrown towards him, but his scoring was a little more off than he would've hoped. He still however managed to get one goal in. Which pleased the boy to no end. He was sure that he could've been a lot better, than he could've played far better but as he gently landed on the pitch he felt proud of how he had played.

Merrill was excited for a new year of Quidditch. Last year had been good, but she just knew they could do better. She knew she could at least. Keeper was an important roll, but wasn't as flashy as some of the others, and when you screwed up you got a lot more flack for it. The girl showed up to the tryouts, and waved hello to her team. She wondered who would be joining them this year.

Lyra walked down with Link to the pitch, determined to help him get a permanent position on the team. The twins had played so well together last year that she wanted him by her side again this year especially now that there was a chaser position open. Lyra squeezed her brother's hand before making her way to James. She kissed him lightly on the cheek and murmured a greeting before moving away so he could lead the team without being a distraction to him.

Link Potter was feeling confident today as he walked down to the pitch for Quidditch tryouts. He had been on the team last year, but only as an alternate. Link thought that he had done well last year in the game where he had played chaser for the team, and he hoped it would help him earn a permanent spot on the team. He still preferred playing keeper or seeker, but neither was an open position on the team. Link knew that he wanted to play Quidditch professionally when he left Hogwarts and being on the house team would get him more exposure to game time. The Gryffindor boy nodded at James as he spoke. "Link Potter. Trying out for chaser." he said, grinning.

Link kicked off the ground hard as tryouts officially began. He did a few laps at the top of the pitch, as fast as his broom would fly. It was probably a little reckless, but it didn't frighten him. Link had been flying since he could walk. His parents had been Quidditch fanatics themselves. He dropped back down to grab a Quaffle from the ground before flying back up into the air. Link zigged and zagged through the air, determined not to let any of the other chasers out play him. He took a total of ten shots at the keeper, and he managed to get seven of the ten past the keeper and that was all on his own. When he worked with Lyra he missed even less. He joined Lyra on the ground, quietly discussing how she thought he did. Link felt pleased with the tryouts and left the pitch with his twin next to him.

It was finally the day where Gabriel had waited for his whole life. He was trying out for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. All summer he had been prepared for this and he made his family crazy with his enthousiasticus about Quidditch. Sofia hated it and she got angry at him for even trying this. He knew she was just worried about what happend to their mother. But Gabriel just wanted to follow his mothers footsteps. I'm so ready for this! the blonde thought with a big smile. He knew his buddy Marcos was trying out also and he hoped they both made the team that would be awesome. The blonde swedish boy was very certain of his qualities and he hoped to get the team. A alternate was also fine, but he went for a spot in the team a real spot! He stood in the crowd and smiled at Marcos when he noticed him. Gabriel wanted to have his own broom and he knew when he got a spot in the team he was gonna get one. His father was still scared for his son, but he was also proud of doing this. And to prove him he was good and get a place in the team was gonna get him buying a own broom. Gabriel listened to the captain speaking and had great respect for him. James was a good seeker he knew and he wanted to be a part of that gryffindor gang. When it was his turn he stepped forward with confidence. '' Hi guys! I'm Gabriel Rosenberg, and I'm here to show you I have the spirit to be your next Chaser. I can also be a fine beater.'' the blonde said with a happy smile. The position of chaser was available and he wanted to get that, his mother was a chaser too. But he liked to be a beater as well, it didn't matter to him.

When it was the moment Gabriel sighted, this was gonna be it now or never. Gabriel swung on to the broom and went easily into the sky with some speed. He flew a bit around to warm up and looked around him to the others that were trying out too. He was glad Marcos tried out for another position, so they had both a chance of getting the team. He grabbed the quaffle as he went further and flew to the keeper in front of him. He smirked to the keeper and was ready to show him what he got. When he could he threw the quaffle with a lot of speed to the hoop and scored the first. His fist went up into the air and this was giving him hope. He turned around with his broom and took the quaffle in his hands again and pointed at the hoop while he was flying around to make it a bit more difficult for the keeper. Gabriel took a total of nine shots to the hoop and scored six out of them. Gabriel was irritated with the ones he didn't score because they went very far from the hoop, and he felt embarrassed about that. He was still glad with the result and when he scored his final shot he was making his way down the ground and smiled at the other gryffindors.'' Thanks!'' he said before he left the pitch with Marcos.

Camelia Kyle loved the game of Quidditch, and always wanted to try out for the team. She finally got a broom, and figured that she might be able to actually play it. She wanted to at least try, and be an alternate if she could. At least she would be on the team, right? Her fiance wasn't on the team, but from what she heard, his ex was. That didn't really make her uncomfortable, because Camelia was a nice person overall, she didn't feel it. She did hope that it wouldn't make her being around the team awkward in any way. Camelia finished getting dressed and headed down to the pitch with her purple broom over her shoulder. She smiled as she arrived to the lawns. Soon enough, she arrived to the pitch and she walked up to who she knew was the captain of the team. Camelia smiled and she said, "Camelia Kyle, trying out for chaser, alternate, anything really. Anything but beater." Camelia knew that she did not have the skills for that one, since hitting something that heavy, she just did not have the muscles for.

The young Gryffindor mounted her broom, and soared up to get started. At first, she didn't know what to do since she was willing to be anything but beater. Camelia sighed and decided to at least try for seeker first. Camelia sought after the snitches, but after a few minutes, she still could not locate it more than once, and even then, it was hard for her to catch it. Camelia was definitely not the best seeker. She went on to try out for chaser, which ultimately she managed to do much better at. By the time she was ready to try out for keeper, the try outs were over. Sighing, the Gryffindor landed and thanked the captain anyway. At least she tried, and that was all she could hope for.

The Winter Break had been long and grueling for Scarlet Frost. As the daughter of a quidditch professional, there was a lot of expectation and responsibility weighing down on her shoulders to follow in her mother's footsteps. Flying was in her blood, and she loved the sport more than any of her subjects. It was important to her to do well, and she ensured she trained every day, practicing as often as she could so that once she finally graduated, she'd be able to join the Tuscan Charmers and start her career. At this rate, there was a good chance she would be playing on a team in matches across the world well before graduation. There simply was no other option in her mind. She was ambitious, she set her goals and she achieved them. Which is why it had been such a shock when her spot on the school team had been stolen right out from under her during her second year. What came as more of a shock was that, even though two of the players had been banned the previous year, allowing the Gryffindor to take her rightful place back on the team, when she arrived on the pitch she found to her disgust that they'd been reinstated. Scarlet eyed the team captain, clearly unimpressed with this poor decision making ability. If he really wanted to keep such risky and volatile students on the team, that was not only to his own detriment, but the entire team's. She was livid, but she tried not to focus on the fact too much, instead tying her hair up into a ponytail to keep it out of her face while their so-called captain spoke. There was no point getting upset over it. As her mother had said, in-school Quidditch meant nothing. Captains often picked their friends over people with any actual skill, as Scarlet had found out first hand. At the end of the day, few of them would be able to pursue a career in the sport, or be considered good enough to make a team, and she took quiet pleasure in knowing the fact.

With her scarlet streak in one hand and her beaters bat in the other, the girl approached the captain, barely sparing him a withering glance. "Frost. Beater." She informed him simply, not that any of it needed to be said in the first place. Her uncle told her he thought it might be unfair for her to play on the Gryffindor team given her experience. Some of the others around her had likely only ever flown a broom for the first time when they were eleven. This was her life. Where kids her age drooled over collectible chocolate frog cards of famous players, or showed off their action figures, Scarlet had actually met them through her mother. Mounting her broom, Scarlet kicked off the ground and took to the sky, her eyes already searching for the familiar jet black ball of iron that had been released. On a broom that could go from naught to seventy five miles per hour in two points three seconds, Scarlet had no trouble accelerating after the bludger as soon as she had spotted it. Aligning herself with the ball, the beater expertly aimed for it with a backhanded swing, hearing the satisfying crack as it went spiraling across the pitch and toward the farthest end. She braked on the spot, coming to a quick halt with the brooms patented charm and taking a moment to tuck a stray hair behind her ear. The air was her element, and she felt more at home being in the sky than on the ground. Turning her broom around, she eyed the second bludger, spotting its dark shape against the bright grass below, and soon she was speeding ahead, her ponytail whipping behind her as she approached the bludger. With another expert swing, it was sent spiraling off just as the last, far from the central on-goings of the pitch. She twirled the bat in her hand and again she was off, a red and gold blur in the sky as she lapped the pitch. She braked again, scanning the sky for either bludger. It wasn't long before her attention turned to movement in the corner of her eye. The iron ball was headed straight toward her. Sitting pretty, she waited until the last moment before raising her bat. The strength behind her arm deflected the bludger away from her and she lowered her arm once more.

Her "try-out" continued similarly for some time, with Scarlet lapping the pitch and beating the bludgers back and forth as often as she could, scowling the few times she missed, but accelerating on her streak enough to catch up and make up for it. At the end of it, she touched down on the pitch gracefully and slugged her bat over her shoulder, wordlessly leaving the pitch and leaving the captain to ponder over which of his friends he'd pick for the team.
