Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.​

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Knowing that Elysia wasn't going to be duelling this year filled Zared with a little ease, he liked her, but fighting her in a duel had been humiliating the first time, and he wasn't sure how capable he would be of fighting her again. Instead he was paired in the first round with a gryffindor he had never met before. He took his position and looked towards her, a faint smirk on his face, and then point his wand at her, and quietly said,
"Diffindo" and the spell shot from his wand.

There was no way that Eva was going to disappoint her parents, she felt like she needed to prove herself and impress them. There was a reason she has been enrolled in the school, and she was not just about to pass off the opportunity. Eva didn't know her opponent, but that did not matter to her. Though, she didn't miss the boy's smirk. She raised her eyebrow at that but said nothing, simply took her position on the opposite side of the platform and bowed. Thank goodness she had fast reflexes, as a spell came hurtling her way and she had just enough time to deflect the spell. Quickly, she cast her first spell, the bat bogey hex, and watched as it shot out of her wand and in the direction of the opponent.

Given that this wasn't Elysia, the teen felt far more calm, he knew he had improved since the last year, he knew how to do this whole thing better. The boy focused on this fight in front with this girl, with the girl he didn't know. He couldn't help the flash of disappointment that his first spell didn't hit. However, he knew to not let this affect him, it was just the first spell after all. Zared blocked the girl's spell with some practiced ease,
before firing back, casting the Conjunctivitis curse, enjoying the thrill of this duel

Eva's eyes widened when the next spell was cast, and she ducked down to avoid it, dodging it successfully. She wouldn't want to find out the feeling of being hit by the curse. The Gryffindor straightened once more and pointed her wand at her opponent. "Confundo!" Second try.

Zared almost missed fighting with Elysia in this moment, the girl seemed almost surprised at the spell coming her way, and he was surprised, this was duel, they were supposed to be hurting one another in this controlled environment. He blocked her spell, desperate to keep himself in his right mind before casting back, the antler jinx. not a particularly strong spell but one he liked a lot.

The fourth year hadn't expected this boy to be that good, of course she knew many people were good at duelling but she might have underestimated just how well students at Hogwarts could cast spells. She winced as she felt antlers grow on her head, and tried not to imagine how unattractive she must have looked. Her wand arm still steady, Eva cast the Leek jinx, light protruding from her wand.

Watching antlers grow from this girl's head was certainly something. He knew he would tell Elysia all about it, given he didn't imagine she would waste her time watching such a thing. He blocked the spell as it came his way, barely managing to do so, and instantly cast back, "Stupefy" perhaps not the best spell, but the one that would take her out, rather than just be silly.

Eva cast Protego just as quickly as the boy fired his next shot at her, and smirked. Her parents hadn't taught her spells early at a very young age for nothing. She cast the Conjunctivitis curse, throwing his own spell back at him as she pointed her wand in his direction. The girl knew now that she had to be constantly alert.
