One could say that this was bitter sweet for Vladimir Zhefarovich. Sporting the new badge on his chest that replaced the prefect one, Vladimir waited at the pitch for the arrival of the students. He tried not to look intimidating, but there was nothing he could do. He peered down at the clipboard, making the final cuts before finalizing who he thought would be the best one to lead once he was out of the picture. His opinion was very much too high for anyone normal. He set his standards up so high, no one could really reach them. He was just relieved that Esme Lancaster would be able to play once more. When his uncle gave out punishments, they often affected the whole Slytherin house. He hoped that would not happen again. Vladimir peered up as he heard footsteps heading in his direction. Once the new and old faces stood together, Vladimir got started immediately. His voice stung the air with the brittle coldness he usually had, "Now that everyone I suspect will come is here, I prefer to get this started as soon as possible. I am Vladimir Zhefarovich, Captain and Beater. Chasers, I will release a few quaffles for you to practice with. Just shoot them through the hoops. Keepers, guard. Seekers, catch the three snitches that are loose, and beaters, guard the players. Now, go." He kicked the case open and the balls flew out, except for the quaffles.

Here's to a new year! This is Vladimir's last year of captain, so things will look harder and tougher since he is determined to win. There are lots of available spots to fill! Just post your arrival and try out into one post! Alternates will have to try out to receive a full spot. Current players need only post their arrival.
I based this off of effectively replying to the pms I've sent, and posting in last year's games.

It was a new year and Charlotte was glad that she was finally able to try out for the quidditch team this year. She had only played quidditch a couple of times and, admittedly, she was not as good as she wished herself to be but she loved the sport and thought that she should try out just for fun. Walking onto the pitch, she surveyed everyone that had showed up and felt herself get a bit nervous. These people seemed so much better than her and, even though she was only doing it for fun, she was probably nothing compared to any of them. She listened anyway as the Slytherin quidditch captain told them what to do and introduced herself. "My name is Charlotte Owens and I'm trying out for Chaser." she said in her most brave voice, trying not to give away the fact that she was extremely nervous.

When the time came she mounted her broom and tried to calm her nerves as she kicked off from the ground, heading straight for the hoops with the quaffle held firmly in her hand. With all her might she threw the quaffle directly towards one of the hoops. Suddenly she ducked, narrowly avoiding a bludger that was coming her way. "Whew, that was close!" she exclaimed with a slight chuckle as she attempted to make another shot through the hoops. To her surprise, she had scored quite a few times and was very happy with her progress. It took a few shots before she was able to fully get the hang of it and, when she did, she felt herself doing quite well.

At the end of the try-out, she made an effort to safely dismount her broom and joined the others to see if she had made it or not. Whatever her fate was, she was still proud of her efforts today and couldn't wait to tell her parents about what she had achieved. Hopefully they would be just as proud of her as she is of herself.

The last match of Esmè's fifth year was one she was forced to sit out of, and which was ultimately lost, all due to something that had started as minor payback and escalated far further than she could have ever thought. But this year, she was once again allowed to participate, and they would not be losing again. As long as she kept her cool, and retaliated against the other students as little as possible, they shouldn't have a problem. Though, James was bound to get on her nerves sooner or later. Her gift would have been helpful this year more than any, yet despite the training she had with the deaf seer, she was still a long way from looking into the future when she wished. Summers had suggested she speak to Clairoux, and the Slytherin was finally starting to consider the idea, but for now, she'd see how smoothly the year went.

Approaching the Quidditch Pitch with her broom in hand, and ever present half-kneazle at her heels, Esmè's joined Vladimir as the others too, had began to gather. Her eyes caught the flash of a Head Boy badge against the sunlight and she had to admit she wasn't at all surprised to see the Zhefarovich boy wearing it. "Congratulations." The girl said as she came to a stop, gesturing toward the accessory their captain wore. Quite a few of the students in that family had secured positions as Prefects and it was stunning how diverse it was. From the boy who'd set another student on fire, to Professor Styx, half of them seemed crazy, yet here she was dating one. He seemed to understand her, at least.

Once everyone was present, Esmè surveyed the newbies who had joined them, not at all impressed with some of the turn up. That Charlotte girl was there, and Esmè hoped for both of their sakes that she didn't make it on the team. It was lucky that the seeress wasn't in a position as a beater, else she'd try knock the filthy brat out of the sky at any opportunity. Ignoring her, and the urge to hex her, they took to the sky, and Esmè dove straight into the Chaser routine for the duration of the try-outs.

Kayleigh had saved up during the break, enough to purchase herself a new broom. She was incredibly excited to get it, and had spent the entire break practicing. The young Slytherin really wanted to join the Quidditch team this year. She was feeling confident that she would do well, though she knew she still needed practice and would have been silly to think otherwise. But Kayleigh was sure she'd blossom under the guidance of the team.
Kayleigh listened to the Quidditch Captain she knew as Vladimir; he was the other beater. She wondered what he would think about having a girl as a beater but she knew that she could be just as good as the rest of them. "Kayleigh Hunter, trying out for beater." She stated, before taking off into the skies, keeping an eye on the bludgers. The first one she hit was okay. It went wider than she wanted it to, but she put it down to nerves. Shake it off. The next couple of hits went a bit wide as well, but Kayleigh was loving being in the air. She loved watching the bludgers fly in the opposite direction after she had hit them. Finally she seemed to have gotten control of where she wanted the bludgers to fly. A few more hits, and the try-outs were over. Kayleigh landed with the rest of the try-outs and she was sure that she had done an adequate amount to be chosen over any other students.

Alana was a bundle of nerves this morning. She'd forced herself to eat but had only managed a small bit before heading back to the dungeons to grab her belongings. With the old Keeper having graduated, Alana was going to try out for the Keeper position, hoping to secure more than an alternate spot. She'd played once last year at the position before also being played as a Chaser, a position she hated though she was sure was better suited for her petite frame. Heading for the pitch, Alana trailed behind some other Slytherins.

There were a lot of new and old faces, people that she knew had been on the team last year and people she recognized though had never spoken to. She didn't say anything to anyone. Alana was too busy trying not to throw up. Vladimir was a tough captain, and she knew that she would have to do well right now to be off the bench this season. "Alana Finch, and I'm going to try out for the open Keeper position" she stated before mounting her broom on shaky legs and pushing off.

Heading for the hoops, Alana did a quick loop around them before settling in front of the middle hoop. Soon enough, a quaffle was flying her way. It flew right at her and she caught it easily, her nerves settling. The next she missed by inches as the person shot for the corner of one of the further hoops. She caught the next few easily, her mind and body getting into the zone. By the end, the teen had only let a few quaffles through though she'd saved plenty more. She hoped that would be enough.

Avie was so excited for another year of quidditch and he walked with pride to the grounds, a smile so clear on his face, he knew that they were definitely capable of winning and they were definitely capable of just doing excellently. Avie as the seeker had a very important job to do, he knew he had to catch the snitch and any practice he did for that was important. The teen got to the pitch, with his broom in his hand and walked happily over to Esme, giving her a big hug before getting ready for the day of practices ahead of him. The now, sixth year, had done pretty awfully in his OWLs, and was realising one of the only career paths he had was to be a quidditch player, so all of the quidditch stuff had suddenly become very important to him, though it didn't mean that the teen was going to stop his lessons with the muggle studies professor, watching the films was always so incredibly exciting and he just loved it, especially snow white, since the dwarves collected rocks, and Avie thought that was just about the coolest thing ever. He smiled at Esme before getting onto his broom and focusing on the tryouts, though at least he knew his place on the team was a little more certain.

Rome had been uncertain about joining the quidditch team, she knew that Cairo wouldn't but Rome felt she'd be good at it, she'd always been better at flying and her skills were not really in academics, so perhaps it was the right position for her, the only issue was her anger, and she wondred if her anger was best suited to a sport, but never one to back from anything, Rome had found herself on the quidditch pitch with a broom in hand, waiting to just get started, she was excited about the prospects this might lead to, excited to be trying. She spotted already on the pitch were a few familiar faces, but she didn't let them deter her, instead when it was finally to her she grabbed a beater's bat and walked up to the the captain of the quidditch team, who also just happened to be the head boy and spoke with all her usual confidence, "Rome Savage, trying out for beater," Rome knew there was no space to lie here, no space for games and other things which were fun. Instead she just waited until the signal was given before getting on to her broom and flying up into the air.

Rome had opted for beater mostly because she knew that her anger would be best taken out on the bludgers and if they caused harm to a person she wasn't exactly going to be unhappy about it. Rome flew in the air, getting a better grip on both the broomstick and the beater bat in her hand, trying her best to stay positive about it. She noted a first bludger and smacked it hard with the bat which surprised her a little, since she thought she'd miss, but also made her feel really great, like she could do this. Hitting the bludger had definitely been the sort of anger release that she likely needed in her life, but as the try-outs continued, Rome had relative success, perhaps missing more than she'd hit, but pretty glad overall with how things had gone, looking forward to perhaps being able to play for her house team. She couldn't help but wonder about Lanithro, and wonder if he would opt to play for his team. It would be fun she thought to meet him in the field. Rome landed as well as she could before waiting to hear how she'd done.

Aras was back this year to try his luck in quidditch again. Last year his performance wasn't great, but this serpent wasn't going to give up so easily. He arrived at the pitch with his broom tucked over his shoulder. He approached the captain and introduced himself.
"Aras Ivanauskas. Trying for chaser." He said and right after he mounted his broom and blasted off. He made a lap of the pitch, just letting the breeze brush his face and hair. Then he went for the quaffle, keeping a very close eye on the scarlet ball the whole time. When he got the chance, he sneakily snatched the quaffle. As he flew around some people a bludger came right at him. He yelped slightly and then dove straight down, the Quaffle still in his tight grasp. He flew along the bottom of the Pitch, other chasers trying to tackle him. The wind whipped in his face as he flew rather quickly to the other side of the pitch. He looked behind him and saw his fellow chasers and threw the quaffle with a slight lob to him. Then, he flew up as high as he could, and went closer to the hoop. The quaffle was thrown straight into the air and Aras bolted for it, catching it but being bumped in to. He was holding on his broom with one hand and managed to get back on. He sighed in relief, and with a light throw he got the Quaffle in the right hoop, just under the Keeper's arm. He scored a couple more times but most of his attempts were blocked. He hoped he was going to made it to the team. He was determined to work harder and step up his game.

Georgina was never much of a sports fan, at least not like her brothers were. Even her sister got more excitable when football was on. There was something different about Quidditch though, maybe it was the speed or the aggression. Or maybe it was the fact that the entire game took place in the air. Flying had been one of the most enjoyable parts of her first year. She had caught the Quidditch bug bad so when the tryouts were posted Georgina just couldn't say no. She made her way down to Quidditch pitch and changed into some ratty practice robes and grabbed her shiny new broom and headed out onto the pitch.

Once on the pitch she waited with the other trialists until it was her turn and she stepped forward and introduced herself to the Captain. "Georgina de Lacey trying out for Seeker," She announced confidently before mounting her broom and heading off in search of the snitch. Her new broom felt amazing, she weaved through the people trying out as chasers and scanned the entire pitch in search of the snitch. At first she couldn't see it so she continued to move around the pitch until she saw a glint of gold in the corner of her eye and she darted across the pitch, as soon as the snitch came into full view she out stretched her hand and grab furiously at air as she got closer. With one last lunge forward she grabbed the snitch and made her way down to the ground. She had never felt such excitement as she held the little gold ball in her hand.

Lucien Snow was beefed up about Quidditch this year. Vladimir was bound to be on a murdering streak, cutting people and whatnot. He arrived at the pitch, before nodding at the Head Boy. He saw Avie and Esme, and immediately went to stand near them, before they went up to serve their purposes on the team. Lucien looked at the captain before figuring out that in his best interest, he should as well. He mounted his broom and soared into the sky, to help those within the team as well as help those trying out. He managed to play a little bit as well, which only made him feel a little better about how this year would be for the Slytherin team.

Diane had to hand it to her father, he had done one thing right in raising her. He taught her how to fly before she started Hogwarts. This meant she had been able to get permission to try out for the Quidditch as a first year and she was thrilled. The young Slytherin barely touched her breakfast from excitement amd instead chose to head down to the pitch. She couldn't wait until she had a broom of her own rather than a school broom.

Diane entered the pitch and went over to the Captain. "Diane Winters trying out for chaser," She smiled at the Captain and mounted her broom and took to the air. She tookba quaffle and flew over to the hoops. Her first shot she tried to trick the keepet and went for the middle hoop. That didn't work and it was easily saved. Her next was much better, the quaffle dinked the side lf the hoop as it went in but she did score. She scored her next two shots with ease, the final shot followed a similar path to her second one but it smashed against the hoop and fell to the ground. Diane flew back to the ground hoping she had done enough.

Vladimir stood with the clipboard to his chest, while he observed. Several new players. He took some notes, before thinking about wrapping it up.
