Kelsey was in her last year of Hogwarts. The last thing she was expected to be given, was the title of Quidditch Captain. She knew that Ai was her friend and that she was the eldest on the team, but still, it was definitely unexpected. She was pretty happy though. She liked being Quidditch Captain and she hoped that this year she would actually be able to do something about helping the team to victory. She wasn't going to have to change much from last year, as the schedules would be much the same, but she was hoping that new tryouts would be a good place to start. As she walked down to the Quidditch Pitch, Kelsey though about everything that Ai had been though last year. She was pregnant now and Kelsey was pretty sure she was to have her baby soon. She hoped she could go and see it when all was settled. Kelsey liked babies and she wouldn't have minded having one of her own someday, though definitely not today. Nor next year, she wasn't ready. She wanted to become a Healer and she had to be fully prepared to do that, she couldn't risk mucking it all up for herself now. Still, she was excited to see how her last year was going to go. She knew it was all riding on these last exams that she was studying for at the end of the year. For her NEWTS, but she still needed to make sure that she kept on track with everything else. She'd been pretty distracted about Ferdinand over the holidays, but it was all fine now. Things were good.

Quidditch had been a staple for Kelsey for a couple of years now, though she'd never expected it. Still, it was probably the flying that gave her the peace of mind rather then the thrall of the game. Either way she didn't much care, as long as she got to do what she wanted and made it count. Looking around at all the potentials as well as the returns, Kelsey smiled, her broom in hand. "Welcome to tryouts! I'm Kelsey, incase you weren't sure." She turned to look at her returning teammates. "Good to see you guys again, missed you over the holidays. Keep up the good work." She winked at them before turning her attention back to those who would be trying out today. "Just as a reminder, I'm your new Captain and any concerns or questions can be asked of me now or later, I'll try to answer as best I can. For now however I want you all to do some warm up whilst I get everything ready." Kelsey moved off to set everything up and after several minutes she returned to face the team. "Okay, so Chasers, grab a quaffle, learn to pass and learn to shoot. Keepers, defend those hoops and try giving the chasers a hard time, Beaters get up there and defend your team from the devilled Bludgers." She kicked open the box and ducked as they went zooming out. She looked over at the seekers and then produced the snitch out of her pocket which jumped into the air. "He'll be your job Seekers. There are others flying around too, catch as many as you can." Kelsey smiled at the potentials and waved them away. "Okay, off you go guys. Try not to hurt yourselves or anything whilst you're up there!" Kelsey turned to her teammates. "If you guys just want to relax, go ahead and do so, or you can go and help them out with technique." She gestured to one of the younger students. "He looks like he could use a hand with that Quaffle." She jumped onto her broom and kicked into the air.
OOCOut of Character:
Post your arrival and trying-out all in one...
Last year's team members have to post their arrival to be guaranteed a spot in the team while the alternates still have to try-out if they want to be a regular member. (Courtesy of Kaitlyn and thanks to the Quidditch system.)
The more creative your post will be the better and have fun! :woot:

First years please remember to PM me first before posting. ^_^

Graeme was very happy to be back at school, his break had been very dull, and he was ready for another year of this place. Graeme was stood on the quidditch pitch, because it was indeed that time of year again. He had been on the team since about first year he was sure, and he was very happy to be continuing his position, and he felt like perhaps this would be their year. Hufflepuff had managed to win the house cup last year, maybe this year they could win the house cup and the quidditch cup. That would be the best thing to happen. He had his broom in hand and watched as the quidditch captain, Kelsey started talking. He trusted that she would do well in this position. He was confident of it. He nodded along, glancing around at the other students stood around them. Hopefully they could get some great players. This would be their year. When they were told to get started, Graeme hopped on to his broom and shot up into the air. He would get some practice in, he hadn't done much over the holidays so this was the time to get warmed up and remember how to actually play.

Kris had been looking forward to returning to school and not just to see his friends, but quidditch. He felt like last year he'd let his team down, as even only being an alternate he'd been asked to play in a majority of games. In two of the games he had played he'd been hit multiple times by bludgers and missed the hits he'd sent, but this year he felt more confident than last year and vowed to try again.

Making his way towards Kelsey, Kris realised that Ai had left, and was now unsure whether to try out or not. He knew Kelsey was kind and friendly and was glad when she'd been given the position of captain. His doubt was forced to the back of his mind when she put them to work straight away. Anyway he couldn't doubt Kelsey, if he were to make it on the team, she'd be his fellow beater. Unfortunately he'd never played with her last year. He walked to her and smiled.

"It's so nice to see you again Kelsey, and congrats on the promotion." He said sincerely. "I'll be trying out for Beater again, but I'll be happy to settle for Alternate." He smiled as he took to the air and flew away from the new captain.

The action found him straight away, after flying close to the stands, about three seekers came barrelling towards him following a snitch. He rolled out of their way and was almost hit by a bludger. It was mostly by fluke that he hit it, as he came out of the roll, he swung his bat and it rocketed across the pitch towards the hoops. He hoped it looked like he meant for that to happen as he circled the pitch looking out for bludgers.

They weren't that hard to miss actually, as they seemed extra riled up than usual and by the end he'd taken a few hits himself, but had protected most of the other players. The pitch had been quite chaotic, everyone doing different jobs and not really working as a team, but his most noticeable triumph most have been when he'd saved the seeker from getting a face full of bludger.

It had finally happened. Mackenzie had been bitten by the Quidditch book, she had been plagued by a lack of interest in the sport during her first two years, but during her third Mackenzie started going to the games, at first just to be social but she began to enjoy the atmosphere and then the game. All this led to her making a spur of the moment decision to tryout for the Hufflepuff team, it had helped her decision that there were to be some open spots on the team due to senior players graduating. Mackenzie woke up the morning of the tryout a little later than she would have liked, she decided to skip breakfast and head down to the pitch early. Having made the decision to join the team after she arrived back at the school she hadn't had the chance to buy a broomstick while she was at Obsidian over the holidays. A new broomstick would be at the top of her shopping list if she made the team. Mackenzie however, saw it as a big if.

The changing rooms were full of young hopefuls all dreaming of making the team, and some alternates from previous years hoping to fill the spots vacant on the team. Mackenzie had decided to tryout for Keeper. She had always liked soccer and had the natural agility from years of surfing that had translated nicely to flying on a broom. When she came out of the dressing room she introduced herself to the current team, "Mackenzie Mitchell, trying out for keeper," The new Hufflepuff Captain gathered all the newbies together and gave them their instructions as to what to do while trying out. Mackenzie took note, the mounted a school broom and flew up to the hoops. She watched nervously as some of the chaser hopefuls picked up Quaffles and began to take to the air. They took it in turns to take shots towards Mackenzie, the first flew low towards the hoop on Mackenzie's left, she pulled her broom up and swung backwards into a dive, she managed to get her fingertips to the Quaffle and knock it wide. The second was more simple, the Quaffle was thrown towards the center hoop but drift off target, Mackenzie was able to twist and collect it calmly. She missed the next shot and it went through the hoop on her left. That only made her more determined to go on and save the following two. When she came down and touched the ground again she was happy with her work. Four saves out of five was a decent try out, she just had to hope that no one was perfect.

Marietta was so excited to back at the school, back to her friends, and back to finally try-out for Quidditch. Ever since she heard about the sport she's been studying about it. Reading about the positions and rules of the game, attending every game to cheer on her House, and doing her best at flying a broomstick. Sure she dabbled with a bit with football in Ireland, but this was so much, well... more! A completely different sport in a different world. Even over break, she was practicing her flying on her new broom. Nothing too pricey or too low, but something that helped her feel more comfortable when flying. She was still fairly new to the magic of flying, and although it felt amazing, it still felt a bit scary. Marietta believes she's ready now though. She has confidence that she'll do well at the try-outs.

Luckily Marietta remembered her way to the Quidditch Pitch, where the Try-outs were being held. As she approached the captain, then, and only then, did it occur to her that she didn't know what position to try-out for. A Alternate would be the best for her since she's a beginner, but and Alternate for what? She didn't want to be a Beater since that required hitting that awful thing, and her swing can be a bit off. She doesn't have it in her to do that. Keeper? No, she was never the best goalie back in Ireland. Seeker seemed interesting, but she had the attention span of a squirrel, she would lose it too easily in all the commotion. An Alternate-Chaser seemed to be her best bet. So, she approached captain, and stuck out her hand to shake, "Marietta Macmillan. I'm here to try out for Alternate-Chaser." She said giving a friendly smile.

After the introductions with the old and possibly new players, Kelsey left to set everything up. After several minutes she came back, told everyone to go up and practice, and released the balls. Marietta followed the Chasers to practice with the Quaffle. They flew all around the field passing it swiftly and fast, Marietta almost dropped it on the first few passes, but got the hang of it. The shooting was a lot easier. Her aim in Football was good, but using her hands was much better. A few of her shots were blocked by the girl trying out for keeper, but Marietta did get one on the right hoop, the Keeper's left. She was quite satisfied with herself afterwards. Marietta landed back on the ground, feeling pretty good about her accomplishments on the field.

Chaos may not have had a broom, but if he made the team this year, he would talk his dad into getting him a broom this year. Chaos, unlike Havoc, could fly like a pro (in the mind of the first year). He was much better, and he could do things that most have never heard of! He walked onto the pitch, with a school broom in hand, and his dark, purple eyes sweeping the students with a mischievous look to them. However, as soon as he had a good look at everyone, his grin fell and he looked cold as ever. 'Oh my god, people look disgusting, like mudbloods. Perhaps I should try out as a beater, and beat some sense into people,' thought Chaos as he swung the broom over the shoulder. But maybe he would have to play nice. He almost missed the fact that he could be at home, learning how to fly a motorcycle. Instead, he was here. Ugh. He could use the socializing, but he didn’t care in the least bit that he was in Hogwarts. He wanted to be at home, but Havoc talked his parents into making him come to Hogwarts with his siblings, and other various family members. He was just now used to his name. He grew up an Arnaunt until the family were welcomed back home. Chaos missed the Zhefarovich Manor, so maybe if he became beater, he would end up using this to vent his frustrations. Hurting others made everything all right.

"Chaos Zhefarovich, trying out for beater." Chaos announced himself proudly to the Captain, before he mounted his broom. He grabbed a bat before he took up into the air, holding the bat with one hand and the broom with the other. Already, he was good at flying with one hand. No hands, he was not too sure about that. He needed some practice on that. Chaos found a bludger heading toward the chaser, and of course, Chaos rushed toward it and smacked it away with a loud crackle, almost like thunder. He smirked before he thought, 'Saved your mudblood ass.' He was very much prejudice, but since he was a first year, no one knew. He was basically a blank canvas, and ready to be discovered, but he wouldn't for a while. He didn't want others to figure it out. He continued to fly around, protecting others from the black balls of death. He eventually landed, confident in how he did. He just wanted to make the team somehow, and get himself a broom. He turned in the old broom and felt like he needed a shower. Merlin knew who else rode that broom.

If the pre-Hogwarts Alexander would be asked whether he would like to leave his books and go outside to play quidditch, he would politely turn the offer down and state that he had no interest in the stuff and that he preferred to stay away from physical activities. Pre-Hogwarts Alexander would even say that he did not like flying and that he preferred to keep his feet on the ground where he was safe. Pre-Hogwarts Alexander would stay away from team activities if he could. Pre-Hogwarts Alexander was not a quidditch fan. Pre-Hogwarts Alexander, however, was different from the Alexander that was now walking towards the quidditch pitch, his trusted broom in hand, determined to make it into his house' quidditch team. Rarely was the now second year passionate about something, but quidditch was able to catch his interest, even just for a bit. He quite enjoyed it honestly, even though until now, he was still not that fond of team activities.

Upon reaching the quidditch pitch, he saw a few familiar faces as well as new ones. He gave his previous teammates a nod and approached their new captain to congratulate her. It was, after all, only normal to congratulate someone who had accomplished something, was it not? "Congratulations," was his short greeting, though his tone was as flat as ever, and his face remained expressionless. He meant it though. Afterwards, he returned to his previous position to listen to further instructions. He had done this before, it would be fine. Unlike last time though, when he tried out solely for his father, this time, he was trying out because he wanted to as well. He had few things to look forward to upon returning to Hogwarts, and quidditch was one of them.

"Keeper," he then announced in his usual tone before he mounted his broom to do some warm ups. Ai, their previous keeper, had trained him before. In fact, even as an alternate, she gave him a chance to play in actual games. The result of the matches may not be what he wanted, but he at least learned something then. Keeper, though not an active position compared to being a beater, a chaser, or a seeker, was equally important if not even more. They were the last defense for their team. Their purpose was to defend the goal and prevent the opponent from scoring. In a game where the one with the higher score wins, wasn't the position extremely important? He did not have the speed that was required for seekers, nor the strength required for beaters. He also wasn't that good as a team player which was required for chasers, but he had the patience and the focus that was necessary for a keeper. It was only natural that he would choose the position, right?

After three laps around the pitch, the second year flew towards the hoops. He had seen one of the keeper hopefuls' performance. She was good. It would be fine if she would get the position. He was not going to throw a tantrum just because he didn't get that position. While not a team player, he would not sacrifice the team's victory just because of selfish reasons. After all, once one gets into a team, there was only one goal. And that was to win. It did not matter who played or who they play against. They had to win. He would be fine being an alternate again. That, however, did not mean that he would not give his best.

The second year hufflepuff position himself on the central hoop to make it easier to change his position should the chaser attempt to aim the quaffle towards the left or right hoop. The pitch had become quite chaotic with the students doing different jobs, yet at the same time, there appeared to be a building teamwork upon the aspirants too. Beaters who probably could care less about the students were trying to protect them and chasers who had never played together before were trying to at least help each other out to score a goal. It was quite magnificent, really. They were doing their best; he had to do his best too. A chaser aspirant, who he recognized to be from his year, came zooming towards his direction, a quaffle on hand. He noticed that it would be easy to snatch the quaffle with the way that the chaser was holding it. His flying wasn't that steady too, and his actions were quite predictable. Right, he thought as he saw the chaser eyed the hoop to his right. Sometimes, some people are easy to read, especially if they were nervous. This chaser was obviously, nervous and unsure. Like he thought, the chaser threw the quaffle towards his right. Alexander gracefully caught it and threw it back to the pitch, where another chaser caught it. "Again," he told the chaser who returned to the others to attempt to score again. The second attempt to score a goal against him had been more tricky. Unlike the previous chaser, the next one was more sneaky and evidently, more confident and better player. Alexander almost fell for his feign. He had thought that the quaffle was to be aimed towards his right, only to discover that the chaser was throwing it directly towards the middle, which became vacant as he changed his direction to protect the right hoop. It was a good thing that Ai had trained him and helped him to work on his agility and speed. He barely managed to catch the quaffle. He threw it back to the game and waited for further attempts, careful not to fall to other tricks and to read his opponents more carefully. At the end of his try outs, he failed to save more goals than he had wanted to. He had to work on his speed more and he had to work on reading his opponents' movements too. He flew down towards the ground and gave his captain a nod of appreciation before he decided to sit down and watch the other continue their try outs.

Charlotte couldn't believe that it was her third year at Hogwarts, so far it was going well but she still had four more years and she found that somewhat daunting. Although today was a time for Quidditch, definitely one of her favourite parts of the school year. She made her way to the Quidditch pitch to see the new recruits try out and lend a hand if need be, she hoped this would be a good year for Hufflepuff.

As soon as Scarlet entered the Quidditch Pitch, she had never ever ever ever thought that she would be this crazy. She did not even know what drove her to do this. Well, maybe she did. But she really couldn't accept her own reasoning really. Cause it was... just not her. Or maybe it was and she didn't know till now? But really. Was she really going to try out just to get Jake's attention? Well, it was not like she really needed her attention or anything, but she really did feel sometimes as if his attention on her had lessened and shifted to another person that she was sure was not Guils. And for some reason, she felt really uncomfortable with that. Especially since Jake sent her only one letter and never replied to her even if she herself had sent five. And so, here she was, obviously on a suicide mission while wearing quidditch gear and having a broom in hand. That's right. Scarlet Naomi Joussane was trying out for Quidditch today.

One of the older Hufflepuffs that introduced herself as Kelsey the Quidditch Captain began to give out orders in order for the try outs to commence and all Scarlet could do was absorb. When the try-outs began, Scar clearly had no idea what she had gotten herself into. This was more of an impulsive decision really. But it seemed as if knowing the basics was not enough. And so, when it was her turn she had just made another shotgun decision. "Uhm. Uh. Scarlet Joussane." she whispered into thin air in hopes that the captain could hear her. She really wasn't good with crowds. "Seeker," she said before mounting her broom and pushing up to hover in the air. Now that she was up and wobbling a bit, she could easily see how much of an idiot she could really be. Like seriously! She couldn't even walk without tripping sometimes! How can she even think of trying out for the team?! But that should be the least of her worries now.

And so, the young one started to fly around the Pitch in search for a snitch and it took her ages to actually catch sight of one before the game of tag started. Scarlet's grip on her broom was firm as she willed to go faster and faster and faster. But obviously, the snitch did not want to be caught. This little thing is not getting away, she thought to herself as she kept her grip with her left hand and outstretched her right arm, wanting to grab a hold of the snitch. Almost there, she thought as she leaned down some more and with a wide swipe, she caught the snitch! "Yes!" she cheered as she raised the snitch high into the air though celebrations did not last long enough. For when she faced forward, a quaffle was hurtling towards her. There was not enough time to react before it collided with her forehead and thankfully, her grip on her broom did not falter. But her vision blurred and doubled though so she decided to touch back down to the ground and hand the one snitch she caught back to the captain before laying down on the grass. Of course she wouldn't finish without an accident.

Lydia Warrick was shaking just a little. It was a little chilly, but also, she was trying out for the quidditch team. She'd asked permission, as a first year, they didn't often get to try out for the team. But she was confident in her own abilities that she was sure that she'd actually manage to get to be an alternate. Someone who would then be able to make the team eventually. As a first year, that was what she was hoping for. Maybe she'd get to play this year, but she wasn't waiting for such a thing to be true. She wanted to be a keeper, and was sure that plenty of others would be trying out for such a position. She was stood on the pitch, with the broom she'd brought from home. She practiced a lot at home, and so, this was something that she'd been waiting for, looking forward to. She was sure that lots of others would have better brooms, but only recently had her family even been able to afford all of the school books without struggling just a little. They were always glad to have the magic to help things. Living in New Zealand they lived more openly as wizards, not that she really had anything to compare it to, she had few memories of where she'd been born. she was the only Archer in her immediate family that didn't have a southern accent. Hers was a lot less prounced, she had an accent but it was much trickier to place. Finally, when the captain finished speaking, she walked up to her and smiled happily. "Lydia Archer, trying out for Keeper, but I can also make a fair beater." she said with as much confidence as she could muster.

With that, she mounted the broom and shot up into the air. She did a few rounds of the pitch. This was a practice not a game, she would be able to warm up. Lydia was finally able to take her place in front of the hoops. She stretched a little before getting herself completely ready. It didn't take overly long, she was ready to go. The first person trying to shoot came quickly. And despite how fast everything was moving, Lydia was able to catch it. She threw it back. Confident and feeling pretty good. But this confidence lead her to catching but dropping the next ball, and letting the following one in. However, by the end of the try-out, Lydia had saved more balls than she'd let in. While the young hufflepuff knew there were much better players than her currently flying around, she felt pretty damn proud of herself. She knew that it was complicated, or difficult to learn to fly, and then there was everything else. She'd learned to fly from her brother. Who had decided that she'd likely enjoy it. Which she had. This was the first time she'd ever flown without others watching her. It was the first time that she'd ever played with people that weren't her family. It had been nerve racking but it was amazing. She flew back down to where everyone else was stood, all of them currently waiting to hear about how they'd done.

Emily walked leisurely down to the Quidditch pitch and took up a position on the grass next to the equipment. She could probably stand to get some practice in, but she couldn't really be bothered. So, she leaned back and watched everyone else in their tryouts and other things, smiling and waving at a couple of her teammates as they flew past. She loved Quidditch and she enjoyed being on the team.
