Y20 Hufflepuff Quidditch Try Outs

Ai can barely believe that she was already in her sixth year in Hogwarts New Zealand and that it was already her second year of being the Captain of the Hufflepufd Quidditch Team. The girl didn't even imagine that she would gain some achievements after entering said wizarding school. She never evn knew that she would have made it without Conan by her side. After all, they did start fighting in their first semestet in Hogwarts and they each had been both independent during those times.and both of them had grown too. Ai, of course, had grown for the better thanks to all the hardships she had experienced because of the fight and now she was proud of what she had accomplished so far in her five years in Hogwarts. As soon as the girl stopped her random train of thoughts, she had decided it was nearly time for try outs and so she had readied herself after she got up from bed.

As soon as Ai deemed herself ready, she grabbed her Sienna Storm and quickly made herbway to the Quidditch Pitch. She was the first to arrive of course but thankfully, the girl didn't have to wait long as the potential team members had also arrived minutes and moments later. And so, as soon as she thought that everyone had arrived she begun. "Welcome to try outs, guys! And welcome back to last year's team mebers. For those who are yet to know me, I'm Ai, you're team captain again for this year. So, let's begin?" she beamed at the members before opening up a chest that contained quaffles. "Those trying out for chasers, grab a quaffle and shoot them through the hoops. Keeper hopefuls would have to defend the hoops," she said with enthusiasm as she let some bludgers and snitches into the air. "Those who want to be beaters would have to protect the team so grab a bat and keep an eye on the bludgers. Seekers, go catch yourselves some snitches," she said with a grin before mounting her broom and looking at all those who would try out. She grinned and said, "Now fly! And go do your best!Those who are already on the team, well, I suppose you could help out or practice," before taking off to watch the course of try outs from above.

[Graeme Fergusson]

Graeme was an alternate for the team, he did not play a huge role, so he had assumed that he would have to re-try out this term to get back on the team, but it turned out he didn't actually have to. He was good with just being able to just turn up. He was set on getting some practice or something done. Anything that would then mean that he'd not have to worry too much about things. It was why he had grabbed his breakfast quickly that morning and just headed down to the pitch. He was their alternate Chaser, but had last term been the seeker for a very brief period of time. Which had ended in him losing, but he'd been new and didn't exactly know how to do such a thing. Happily the teen, got himself on the pitch and stood around at the side watching the other players, waiting for the try-outs to be over so that he would be able to just practice, and actually get better.Graeme was looking forward to it too. He was looking forward to seeing who was going to be the new members of the team. It would be good, and just maybe Hufflepuff might actually win this time around.

[Charlotte Lurken]

Charlotte absolutely loved Quidditch, maybe not enough to think about it as a possible future career but ever since she had been a little girl she had enjoyed playing the game with her older brother, Peter. So when she heard that there was Quidditch try-outs for the Hufflepuff team she just had to try out, even if she was only an alternate or something she maybe had the slightest chance to play against her brother which would be so much fun. Seeing as Peter was a keeper she had always played the position as chaser and even on the mini Quidditch pitch set up they had at home she was pretty good and would even score a few goals against him, and that was him actually trying to save them - oh how it annoyed him when his younger sister was better than him at Quidditch. Although every so often she would swap over with Peter and try her hand as a keeper and she wasn't completely awful at it, but she was better as a chaser.

Arriving on the pitch she made her way over to the Captain. "Hi, I'm Charlotte Lurken. I'm hoping to try out as a chaser but I'm a fair keeper too if you want to try out for that also." She said in a cheery demeanour. She waited for everyone else to arrive at the pitch as she seemed to be one of the first to arrive. Once everyone arrived she listened to the captain give out the instructions and as soon as they were told to start Charlotte mounted her broom and kicked off hard. She had never flown in a pitch to this magnitude and it was a little overwhelming but she took her a few minutes to get used to it and flew around the pitch, speeding up and slowing down and doing a few sharp turns and lifts and dives. Once she was confident she grabbed one of the quaffles and sped down the pitch to the keeper who was protecting the hoops. She pulled her arm back and within shooting range of the hoops she released and watch the quaffle fly through the air and right into one of the hoops. She couldn't believe that it went in with so much ease right away but put it down to beginners luck and waited for the keeper to throw it back out to her.

She practiced throwing the quaffle back and forth between some of the other chasers, stealing it off them also and trying to dodge some bludgers, it was almost like a real game. Getting the quaffle back into her position she made her way back down the pitch for another attempt at a goal. When the quaffle left her grip she could feel just how weak it was and was surprised that it even made it as far as the keeper who caught it was pure ease. Sighing she went back out to the pitch and did a few more techniques before making her last attempt before try outs were called to an end. She tucked the quaffle under her arm and sped down the pitch, swerving from left to right and dipping and lifting up to help build up her technique. When within shooting range she pulled her arm back and released the quaffle with all of her mite and grinned as she saw the quaffle shoot through the hoops with a near catch from the keeper. Catching the quaffle to take it back to the ground she was extremely happy with herself and bounced for joy when she was back on two feet and had got her ground legs back.

 

[Kelsey Ariyah Boneheart]

Kelsey arrived at the Quidditch pitch about the same time as most of the other people. She didn't have to try out this year, which she was glad about. She smiled at her teammates before taking a seat at the benches. She didn't feel like she wanted to help today, in fact she was feeling a little off, so she was glad that she didn't have to try out. She had a feeling she wouldn't make it if she did. She watched and clapped as the people who had turned up to try out, flew around the pitch at their various disciplines. Kelsey had never really thought much about quidditch before, but now she was glad she did. She was finding that she rather enjoyed it and meeting new people on and off the pitch was grand indeed.

[William Aria]

William was happy that he didn't have to try-out again this year, that his spot was secure. He was getting better at being a beater, he reckoned he could actually give his brother a run for his money with arm wrestling. He was unsure why Chad was so concerned about staying strong if he was a chaser, and probably couldn't care less about keeping anyone but himself safe, but he didn't pester him about it. Chad was showing signs of needing anger management help, and William was worried about him.
But today, William had to focus on the try-outs, and helping the hopefuls out. He wondered if he would ever become captain. That would be cool. But there were a lot of people that were capable of being captains so he probably wouldn't mind if someone else became one. As William arrived at the pitch, he greeted his captain and the rest of the team with a smile, looking forward to his day.

 

[Sarah Keith]

The Hufflepuff fifth year sprinted to the pitch, clutching her Streak tightly. She was already late to Quidditch tryouts since her stupid alarm decided to be temperamental that morning, and decide not to wake her up. She finally arrived at the pitch, puffing slightly, her cheeks a light pink from the run, and also from slight embarrassment at the looks she was getting from the Hufflepuffs. 'Sorry Ai. Alarm was temperamental this morning.' As Ai began speaking to them, Sarah quickly pulled her hair in a messy high ponytail, sighing in relief when she found out she didn't have to tryout again, that she was already on the team. With her bad luck from today already, she probably wouldn't have made the team despite being on it for three years already. Ai suggested that the members from last year's team help with the tryouts, and Sarah nodded, mounting her Streak, and flying to the hoops with the hopeful Chasers. She showed them some of her special moves that she had learned over the years of being a Chaser, and explained to them different ways of throwing the Quaffle, demonstrating to them. Every time a potential Chaser got a goal in the hoop, she congratulated them, and when they didn't, she flew over to them to give them some tips, as well as some encouragement before their next go. She noted happily that there were a few that could give the other teams a run for their money this year, which was definitely something needed after last year, in which Hufflepuff came last place.​

 

[Bridget Riley]

Bridget grabbed her broom and swept her fiery hair into a loose ponytail. Since she was already in the team, she knew she wouldn't have to try out, but nevertheless she preferred to keep her hair out of her face when she was outdoors. Striding down to the Quidditch pitch, Bridget smiled at her fellow team members. She was hoping to do better this year, and felt fairly optimistic. Most of her free time was now spent practising for future games, and she was determined to win a game for the team this year.
Bridget watched as new hopeful team members took to the air. She sighed involuntarily. It seemed like only yesterday it was her up there, feeling the gazing eyes of the more talented players below. This time, it was her staring up, and she much preferred this position. Though her Quidditch playing had certainly dulled down her fear of heights, she always felt a little woozy if her mind was left to wander when she was hovering up high. As a seeker, though, her thoughts were usually occupied in her desperate attempt to catch a glance of gold. Bridget continued to watch and cheer on the hopeful new team members, hoping she could boost their confidence. It was scary up there.

 

[Charmaine Zsigmond]

Charmaine was really debating on the idea on whether she would try out for this year's Quidditch Team. She wasn't really sure if it would be a good idea since she barely knows anything about the wizarding world and now she's gonna try for a popular sport?! Surely, she must be insane for trying such a thing but nevertheless, she really did want to try it out and besides anyone could join right? As long as they knew how to fly? And Raine was pretty sure that she could handle that much. Anf so when she was pretty much decided, she decided that she would be trying out for Hufflepuff's Quidditch Team. It should be fun right?

And so, when she had deemed herslef ready for the said event, she had grabbed herswlf a broom and some presentable clothes before heading out to the Pitch where try outs were being held. Raine was glad she wasn't late. The captain might scold her after all, she was a prefect was she not? But then again, she really hadn't seen any Hufflepuff.get into a fight so perhaps all is well in the eyes of the young girl. As instructions were given, Charmaine had begun to think of what position she would try out for. Perhaps she should have thought about this a little deeper? The girl sighed as she thought of trying out as a chaser for now. She could handle it. Probably.

And so, as soon as they were given the 'go' signal, Raine mounted her broom and flew up to the air along with the other chasers and players for the team. And when she was in the air, she had already begun to feel excited about everything! The young girl had grabbed herself a quaffle and flew straight for the hoops and threw! But a keeper had blocked it and Raine groaned in annoyance as shd caught a quaffle and passed it to the other chasers to give them a chance. She was determined to get at least one quaffle through those hoops and so when she had gotten the chance, she had gotten herself a quaffle that was passed to her and zoomed for the hoops and took the chance to throw the quaffle! "Goal!" she couldn't help but cheer gleefully. The try outs continued and Raine just kep on attempting to score. Some went in. Some did not. Nevertheless, Raine enjoyed everything and she hoped that she had earned herself a spot in the team.
