The seventh year prefect Sergios Romanes was still captain, and he enjoyed his post with it. He loved Quidditch, but not as much as soccer. He posted up places around to alert people that they were invited to come down to try out for Quidditch. He just hoped that people would actually come down and try out. Once the Gryffindors started to arrive, Sergios looked at them and smiled, "So everyone, thanks for coming. Welcome back to the team, those that arrived! I just need you guys to state the name and position you are trying out for. And then try out. Chasers, grab a quaffle and practice passing and scoring. Keepers, guard the hoops. Beaters, grab a bat and protect the team from bludgers ahead. If you want to try out for alternate seeker for me, then practice catching the snitch. Good luck!" Sergios kept a notepad and he sat down on his broom so that he could take notes on the try out.
OOCOut of Character:
Running things a little differently thanks to the system. If you were on the team last year, you can post your arrival and you will be guaranteed your spot, unless you let your account go inactive or haven't been on in a month. Then you have to try out again. Everyone else, we can always use lots of players, so one post with your arrival and try out! Previous team, if you want to help the others try out, go on ahead too! If you were an alternate and there is an available position (might be more if no one posts!), then you will have to try out as well.

First years, you can PM me to approve before posting here. If I say no, you can defend your request.
Below is the team, and the available positions.

From the moment sunlight began streaming into common room's window, Perseas Stratis was dressed and ready to seize the very best of the day. Today the Gryffindor team was holding tryouts and Perseas was hopeful to make the Quidditch team this year. He had been flying ever since he was five years old and he had been playing Quidditch with his cousins but he had never considered playing for his house team until a week ago. Perseas had returned back at Hogwarts with completely different goals. He might have matured a little bit and set aside the trouble he usually liked to sow. Joining the team was going to be the start of his brand new beginning, while he was planning to improve his grades.

He loved the outdoors and Hogwarts grounds. Holding his broom, he marched through the grounds with the bright sun upon his face and his sharp gaze locked onto the cloudless sky while a breath of the freshly cut grass was refreshing him. Perseas had been using the pitch to play Quidditch games with his roommates and classmates. Now it was time for tryouts and who knew, maybe he was going to play as part of the Gryffindor team in the future. There were already students there for the tryouts, most of them older than him but he wasn't intimidated a bit. He had faith in his skills.

The Gryffindor located the captain, an older guy he had seen a few times at the common room and the Great Hall. He approached him to introduce himself. "Morning. I'm Perseas Stratis. I'll trying out for Chaser." he stated with a smile. Perseas waited patiently for the captain's signal before soaring into the air. He started off his tryout by taking a few high speed laps around the pitch. He wanted to show that he could control his broom and his movements while speeding along the pitch. Speed was important as a chaser as his job was to gain and maintain possession of the Quaffle. That was what Perseas needed to show to the captain next. He needed to prove that he could score goals and work with the other chasers. Perseas joined the group trying out for chaser. He passed and caught the Quaffle as they flew up and down the pitch. Perseas grinned brightly. He felt incredibly free when he was in the air. He caught a spare Quaffle and turned back to the person who was guarding the goal. He took several shots at the goal with all but two of them soaring through the goal post. It seemed that studying the professional chasers and their moves had indeed helped him.

After an hour or so of flying, Perseas landed lightly on the ground. Overall, he was pleased with his performance and hoped that his captain was as well. There were many really excellent players on the pitch today. Perseas knew that it would not be easy to decided who to start and who to name as alternates. Either way, Gryffindor was looking good for the season. He had faith in the team and the potential that they had all shown on the pitch today. Maybe this year they could take back the Quidditch cup from the Slytherins.

It appeared that this years quidditch would be easier, for one, Tybalt did not need to actually try out. He had his spot all ready to go on the team already, which he was mighty pleased about. It was one less stress to start the year, he could focus more on getting his little club up and running. Which was his primary concern, however, this didn't mean that the teen didn't make his way to the pitch on the morning of the try outs. He was suppose to be there, and so, that was why he'd woken up nice and early. He knew that while he wouldn't be trying out, it would be good to get in a little practice, to be sure that he had improved over the break and not gotten worse, which would be horrible for him. Since he had been working so hard to be better. He knew that he wouldn't have gotten worse, but it didn't stop the fears from creeping up. He had spent most of his break teaching his young sister in Stefan's backyard, it was secluded and it was easy for him to do such a thing. It wasn't going to be as easy when they were at home, so he had left her with instructions to attempt to practice, though he didn't think she really would. Not as much as he had told her to. There really wasn't the time.

Waking up that morning had been easy, he'd quickly thrown on some clothes and just headed out of the common room, and to the pitch, knowing he could eat after. He had his broom in one hand, and his beater bat in the other. He didn't think he'd get to use it first, he'd watch the others, but it would be nice, to be able to get a bit of practice in. As was expected, the pitch was fairly busy, but Ty quickly noticed the captain and gave him a brief wave, as if to say he was there for the try-outs, but since he didn't actually need to try out, he had nothing really to worry about. He took a seat near the benches, placed his broom down, as well as his bat, and just watched the try outs. He always thought that all the people trying out, especially the younger students were better than he had ever been at that point. Ty had improved a lot, but to him it was a wonder he'd gotten on to the team in the first place on the first year he had tried out. It was good to think he'd come so far in that time. No longer the scared little boy who hadn't been able to avoid throwing up after trying out. He was happy to sit and watch the other people try out.

Caroline had received the notification from Sergios that tryouts for the team would be today. She would not have to try out again, but she needed to be there to help support her team. Caroline dressed in her Quidditch gear and grabbed her broom from under her bed. She had missed Hogwarts, Quidditch, and her teammates over the summer. Going home was never her favorite thing. Caroline arrived at the pitch before tryouts started. She greeted her captain and listened to his instructions before flying into the air to help out with the tryouts.

Taylor Blare was feeling much better about everything today. Quidditch try outs were on this morning and she was glad that she didn't have to actually try out this year. Her spot was pretty much guaranteed, which she was pretty happy about. After all, it left her time to do other things. Although she was heading to try outs today to watch and maybe cheer on the newbies. She liked Quidditch in whatever form it was in, whether she was playing or not. She had gotten a real taste for it in first year during that Christmas game. It seemed so weird that it was all that long ago. She had never played Quidditch before that. She hadn't even been playing beater in that game, she'd been the Seeker for Cyndi's team, they'd lost and she'd been upset at the time, but she had gotten over it and she and the other Seeker were friends now, even though she hadn't heard much about what he was doing these days. She smiled to the other team members as she headed down to the pitch, nodding at Sergios. He was a good Captain. He had lead the team to victory many times over his tenure and Taylor was happy to be working with him. She smiled Tybalt as she walked past him and finally took off into the air with her bat in hand. She called over the potential beaters after Sergios gave his instructions and took them through some warm ups and then appraised their technique. She so loved Quidditch, she would definitely miss it if she couldn't play any more. It would be a great tragedy indeed. She wanted to be a Professional Quidditch player when she finished school after all. She had made a few enquiries and so far she was pretty happy with the feedback, now all she needed to do was Graduate.

Skye was thrilled that the new year had begun because it meant that Quidditch was back and maybe this would be the year that Skye was able to make the starting line up and shake off the tag of alternate. Skye woke up early and changed into her practice robes and made her way down to the Quidditch pitch. Even the walk down to the pitch was something she had missed, the cool winter air as she walked out of the main doors of the castle. Over the winter holidays Skye had taken advantage of being a second year and bought a new broom for the new season, the broom was now slung over her shoulder as she entered the pitch. There was a small gathering of spectators in the stands and the captain was in the middle of the pitch welcoming new comers and returning faces alike. Skye planted her broom into the ground and leaned against it while she waited for the tryouts to begin.

It was last year here at Hogwarts New Zealand and Peter wanted to go out with a bang and he hoped to do so on the Quidditch Pitch. He had done pretty well if he did say so himself in the games last year, having one whole game with no goals scored - it wasn't a half bad achievement. This year he was glad that the Captains had decided to allow everyone who was already on the team to keep their places without having to try out again. Merlin forbid, Peter didn't want to risk not making it back on to the team again in case a better keeper tried out, although he knew he had more than proved himself and Sergios knew that.

Arriving on the pitch Peter was eager to get up in the air. Even though he had a secure spot on the team he knew that he had to help out the new people who were trying out. Mounting his broom he kicked off the ground and flew around the pitch for a quick lap, enjoying the feeling of being back up in the air for fun after his gruelling summer of nothing but practice, but it was worth it in the end. As he went to the hoops he waited for the chasers to try and take a few shots at him, wondering if anyone would try out as an alternate keeper.

Lowan headed down to the quidditch pitch. the last time he had been there he had watched his house loose and his sisters win. meaning that he also had lost a bet with her which sucked. more the humiliation of loosing than the penalty. this year however he wasn't going to be a sitting duck, no this year he would fight back. he entered the pitch and saw that there were a lot of people there. an awful lot he wondered if the other teams had such a turn out. he saw a couple of people he vaguely recognised and waited for the captain to introduce the try outs. he listened. he loved team sports and had been one of his schools stars at AFL. when it was his turn to introduce himself he smiled "hey mate, I'm Lowan, I am up for anything thing except seeker" he said though he knew the basics of quidditch and knew that he wasn't really the right build for seeker as that usually required someone small and light where as he was the opposite. he wasn't particularly big ow but he was pretty sure he would be once he met a growth spurt.
when it was time to take to the sky he took off flying for a little to get his hand back to flying. after a while he took the quaffle off one of the goal keepers who was throwing it in having a few shots of the goal the first he got in though he thought it may have been a bit of a fluke as the next few he missed and deciding to try something else before he missed too many more he took the goals and had a go at saving them. saving a few and missing a few. one of his most spectacular saves was actually an accident, he had sort of kicked it thankfully towards one of the waiting chasers so he hoped it still looked good. then after a while he went to the grounds and picked up a bat not laning before taking to the sky again and hitting a few bludgers around away from potential team mates. soon the trial time was over and he landed ready to hear about what was to happen now, would they find out today or would they wait.

Last year, Matt Greene was an alternate on the Quidditch team. This year, he was going to remain an alternate until he got a good broom at least. He grabbed his stuff before he made his way down to the Quidditch field. He waved to the captain before he stood around the team. He noticed that Belladonna had not made it yet. He wondered if she would be on the team this year or not. He hoped so. He didn't want to be here alone. Matt looked at the new people that were trying out before he nodded to them. He would wish them luck. He was happy as is about his position on the field.

Belladonna was excited for another year of Quidditch. Although she wasn't as good as some of the older players, Belladonna had been practicing a lot so she could improve her skills. Hopefully this year she could score more goals and lose the Quaffle less. The blonde hurriedly made her way onto the Quidditch Pitch, with her newly purchased broom in hand. First years weren't usually allowed on the teams, but an exception had been made for some, and Belladonna was one of those students. Since she was older now, she hoped that she could prove to Sergios that he had made the right choice in choosing her. Belladonna waved at her captain and her teammates once she arrived. Hopefully they had some new people trying out, it would be fun to see what some new members could bring to the game. Especially if they were better than she was, because it would only spark the inner competitor within.

Having been an Alternate the previous year, Lamia didn't get to play any games. She had approached her Captain multiple times, asking for a chance, but with so many others trying out and the position already filled, she, begrudgingly, gave her Captain the benefit of the doubt. Obviously he knew what he was doing, but Lamia bet that if she had been playing on the team last year, they would have come first.
Lamia had much stronger arms this year. She was only a third year, but she liked to think she was stronger than lots of fifth years. Lamia had practised her aiming as well, as she supposed that was something she needed to work on, surprised as she was to find herself thinking that there was something she actually needed to improve on. The young Gryffindor still couldn't afford her own broom, so maybe that was why, but she made her way down to the pitch for the try-outs again, hoping to secure a spot again. Hell, she'd even be a chaser if she had to. Or a keeper, though she thought that role would be super boring.

Try outs are ending in a few days! Still have plenty of room for alternates, which I will try to let everyone play in one game at least!
We are having more games than ever so if you were also an alternate, try out for a main position (by either posting again or editing your post)! Who knows, you might get the spot!

Arianna was absolutely glad she had been able to be transferred to Hogwarts New Zealand. She had lost eight years of her life in America being cooped up in a hospital room and she had decided that she had enough of it. After she went home to England, she had told the Nightrays that she intended on getting into a wizarding school together with Armin and Riv. They were not at all happy with that decision but it was what Ria wanted and she had tried everything humanely possible for her fragile health. She wanted to be free, and free she will be. Though that one condition of keeping her connection to the Nightrays was proving to be hard. But she will be free soon. And that counted her school activities of course! One being Quidditch. She was sure that the elders would be furious if they knew that she was going to try out for the Gryffindor House Team, but she didn't care anymore. What they didn't know wouldn't hurt them, right? And so, grabbing herself a suitable broom and quidditch outfit, Ria strode her way out out of her new dormitory and to the Quidditch Pitch.

Ria knew how to fly, that was for sure. Playing Quidditch? Not so much. The Nightrays were all about elegance and etiquette and so she was pretty much sure that she would be the first of her clan to do this. Nevertheless, it excited the Gryffindor daredevil. Once she had reached the Pitch she had approached the rest of the group and listened to the instructions of the person whom was apparently the team captain for their house. Arianna smiled as she introduced herself like all the others present but she had only said her name softly. Barely enogh for anyone but the captain to hear. "I'm Arianna Nightray and I intend to try out for Chaser." When the signal for try outs were given, Ria took no time in mounting her broom and getting into the air. There were already a lot of chasers for the team and most of them were passing quaffles and attempting to get it past the keeper. The Gryffindor was quite surprised when a quaffle had been passed to her and she had gained her senses quickly enough to zoom to the hoops and shoot. It went in! I guess this is what's called beginner's luck? she asked herself before zooming around the pitch again.

Moments later, Ria was already playing and had received another quaffle only to pass it to another chaser to try and get them in the hoops, but it was soon passed back to her again. This time, Arianna tried to once again shoot, but the keeper planned on not letting her shoot another time it seemed. Though the Nightray was not about to give up. Nightrays never give up and she intended on getting another quaffle through those hoops. She was not about to rely on luck through the course of the games. And so, when she had once again gotten her hands on a quaffle, Arianna flew as fast as she possibly could and whilst the keeper's attention was drawn on to the other chasers, she threw the quaffle. The redhead couldn't help but cheer as the quaffle went through. Afterwards, Ria just kept on attempting to shoot quaffles together with the others which she found to be found until the captain had called the try outs to be over.
