Shaylah stood by a wall in the entrance hall and whistled to herself. She was waiting for Livia to get back from changing her shoes. She was surprised that the girl actually had any shoes that she would get dirty.
When Livia finally got back, Shaylah walked outside and looked up at the moon. It looked amazing. The wole of the school grounds were lit by it. She had always loved the moon but seeng it like this was great.

Lily didn't think that any shoes apart from the ones she'd been wearing would go with her outfit. She she had changed entirely. Thankfully Lily knew how to change very quickly. She walked back out and greeted Shaylah at the entrance hall. Lily didn't get to stop walking when, Shaylah set off outside. Lily smiled, this girl was as eager as Lily was about going into the forest. Lily stepped outside and smiled, she loved the outside at night. And Lily was quite excited about going to the forest and having a little bit of fun.

"Scared yet?" Lily said mockingly.

Shaylah noticed how Livia had changed all of her clothes. "Why have you completely changed your clothes. Nobody's going to see you." She laughed at how fashion crazy Livia was.
"You wish. It takes a lot more than a dark forest to scare me." Shaylah grinned. She loved dark forests so there was no way one would scare her. "What about you??"

Lily laughed at Shaylah. The girl didn't understand that no matter what you couldn't have things that didn't match. It just wasn't good, and Lily was ready to say that it wasn't Human. She smirked at Shaylah. Goodness how little this girl knew. And Lily betted that Shaylah was in fact scared. Lily wasn't, she was bubbling with confidence.

"Never. I'm a dancer, we aren't scared of little things like forests." Lily smirked. "And for your information, the shoes I found didn't match what I was wearing and it is a crime against fashion to wear something that doesn't match, not that you would know or care about that." Lily could see the forest ahead. Lily was very excited about it.

"You can turn back if you want. Some people just don't have the guts to enter the forest." Lily teased. She really hated Shaylah and if she could get her to be the one to walk away first, then that would make Lily's year and make her extremely happy.

Shaylah laughed. "There's even a law of fasion now. You girls have seriously lost the plot." She couldn't believe that anyone would be so shallow. "What about dancing makes you not scared of something. That makes no sense at all."
Shaylah laughed more at Livia's next comment "If you think I would turn down the opportunity to go in the forest at night then you don't know who you're talking to." Shaylah sped up her pace as she headed towards the trees that started the forest.

Lily merely laughed at the girls little understanding of the world. This girl would never really amount to anything, if she didn't learn, a) fashion and b) some culture. Lily couldn't help but be so very excited. She wondered what was in the forest. Lily knew very little of the magical world. She smiled at Shaylah. If they weren't such different people Lily could see them almost being friends. But this would never happen in this life.

"A dancer is not scared as she or he, is taught to laugh in the face of danger." Lily said. She knew no fear. Well she feared she'd never be able to dance again. But this didn't seem relevant to mention. "You're right, I have no idea who I'm talking to. And nor do you."

Lily laughed loudly. She was no longer afraid of being caught. She wanted to have fun, in annoying Shaylah. Lily broke into a small skip walk which was childish, but graceful.

"Come on. I bet I can run faster than you and get there first." Lily said, with the same teasing tone she always took with Shaylah.

"Laugh in the face of danger." Shaylah laughed. "That's a good one." Shaylah couldn't remember ever meeting anyone more different than her.
"Why wouldn't I know who you are. I sleep in the same room as you." Livia was just being confusing now. Shaylah looked back up to the moon and grinned.
Shaylah was a very fast runner so Livia's challenge was going to be a piece of cake. "Challenge accepted." Shaylah ran straight past Livia towards the brush of the forest.

Lily loved seeing the girl become confused. It was good to know that no one really had a clue who Lily was. It was reassuring in a way. She watched as Shaylah ran past her. The girl was fast. Lily had to give her that. But Lily too was fast. Maybe not as fast as her, but not slow either. Lily broke in to a run. She was able to catch up with Shaylah, but Shaylah, was just that little bit faster. Lily knew she'd have to push herself hard. Slowly, Lily felt herself push ahead, but she could tell that Shaylah, had more up her sleeve.

Shaylah saw Livia catch up with her. The dancing must have made her fast. Shaylah got her legs moving more and ran ahead if Livia. She reached the edge of the brush just before her and slowly stopped as she got deeper into the forest.
Inside all the trees, it was great. The wind whistled through the leaves and thebranches creeked. Shaylah could just see the light fom the moon as it burst through the leaves and hit her in the face. "It's amazing." Shaylah said it to herself as she looked around at her surroundings.

Lily saw Shaylah push ahead and into the forest, Lily followed, a little annoyed she hadn't won but not too bothered. She could at least give Shaylah the fact that she was fast. Very fast. Lily stopped just beside Shaylah. She looked around the forest. It was really cool. The whole set up of it. It was just a really cool place to be. Lily couldn't see how the forest was somewhere students weren't meant to go. The stuff within the forest must be myths. Lily hadn't really been in a forest before.

"It's not as scary as people say it is. Such lies people tell." Lily said, thinking out loud. "It's really pretty cool. Let's go deeper."

"What do you expect?? The children are meant to stay out because there's animals in here." Shylah was just like her dad in the fact that she was great with animals. Her dad showed it more by working with them in the ministry.
"Yeah, sure." Shaylah walked deeper into the forest with Livia. She coudn't see the moon this far in. The trees were too thick. "This is so cool."

Lily followed a little behind the Slytherin girl she hated. Lily would go in front but she didn't feel like being first. She wasn't scared but if they were to be faced with something, Lily wanted to first and foremost, protect her clothes. Lily loved how close the trees came towards each other. It was just amazing.

"It is." Lily said quietly. Not really believing that she was agreeing with Shaylah. Lily stopped slightly. As it went, Lily was a quieter walker than Shaylah. Lily caught back up with her.

"So what are you scared of Shaylah?" Lily asked. Not really curious but trying to make some form of conversation.

Shaylah laughed then turned around so she was walking backwards allowing her to look at Livia. "There is onlyone thing that I am scared of and I am not about to discuss it with you of all people." The only person who knew about Shaylah's fear was her dad and that was because he had been with her in Scotland. She hated talking about it. "You probably wouldn't answer me if I asked you that question anyway." Shaylah turned back round so she was walking forward again.

Lily wasn't surprised that the girl wasn't about to tell her what she was scared of, but Lily figured that it was most likely something stupid, that Shaylah was embarrassed to be scared by. Lily gave a small nod. She wanted to persue the subject, but that didn't seem like all the fun which could be had. Lily didn't exactly want to wonder around on her own, but she stopped walking, letting, Shaylah walk on ahead, before heading in a slightly more diagonal route. She could still see Shaylah, but Lily was now pretty hidden by trees. She broke a branch loudly. The sound echoed throughout the forest. Lily felt quite excited by living on the edge.

Shaylah heard a snap and looked round to see if Livia had been scared by it so she could laugh. When she turned Livia was gone. "When I didn't think she could sink any lower she goes and tries to pull a prank like that. How much more lame can she be??" Shaylah was talking to herself and didn't know if Livia could hear her where ever she was hiding.

Lily kept walking, well more like skipping through the forest. She had heard Shaylah talking to herself. The sounds of leaves ruffling, sounded as she passed. Why hadn't Lily gone into the forest before, baffled her. Everything was amazing. Just so cool. And specialized to this forest. Maybe this awful school had good points too. The whole outdoors area were good. Lily wasn't however about to apply herself and begin to actually like magic. She was a dancer, not a witch. Lily wasn't bothering to see if Shaylah was near her. Lily didn't really care. Lily was having too much fun on her own. That Shaylah girl, deserved to have roam through the forest herself.

Shaylah looked around her and couldn't see Livia anywhere. Her one fear was having no one with her and being alone so when she realised that Livia was no where in sight, her heart beat increased. She was struggling to keep her breathing under control and hold back the tears. It was an irrational fear and Shaylah hated it but it had been caused by her years of being alone in Scotland. Back then, she had no friends and her only family was her dad who was alway on business trips. The memories of Scotland-or as Shaylah called it, hell-were what made Shaylah scared of being alone. No matter how much Shaylah loved the beauty of the forest, she hated the loneliness that she felt from it.

Lily wondered if maybe she should back and find Shaylah. Most people didn't like being on there own. Lily had long grown use to it. She didn't like it all that much, but she could put up with it. She had, had mostly fake friends. They were only friends with her because she was of dancer purity and the best dancer in the school, this meant that Lily felt generally alone. Lily skipped further and deeper into the forest. The trees were getting close and close together as she went deeper. Lily stopped skipping. She needed her hands to go further. Lily stopped for a moment and looked back. She wondered where Shaylah had gotten to, and if she'd just left the forest.

As Shaylah realised that Livia was no where near her, she backed into a tree and slid down it. She then brought her knees up close to her chest. This was a habit that she'd got herself into. It made her feel like there was someone else there so helped her to get over her fear. She always imagined that her dad was stood right next to her comfoting her through each step of the way. Shaylah carried on looking around wishing Livia would show herself. She didn't care about he creatures that were in the forest or how dark it was or anything like that. She just wanted to be with someone.

Lily was beginning to fight her way through the forest. She had a rather large scratch on her cheek from where a branch had smacked against it. It was bleeding a little. Lily had a smaller cuts on her hands from where the branches were digging in. When finally a bit of her shorts were ripped Lily decided to head back towards where she figured Shaylah was, if Shaylah was still in the forest but that wasn't before letting out a very angry scream at the fact her shorts were now ruined.

Lily rubbed her hands together as she walked. She wouldn't go that deep into the forest again. She raised her hand and with her palm, checked her cheek. Specks of blood. That wasn't too bad. Her shorts were now ruined, but Lily was okay. She continued walking and walking.

Shaylah didn't notice the scream that Livia made because all she could hear was her heart beat getting faster and faster. She was surprised it could go this fast. Shay couldn't understand where Livia had gone to.
One of the only things Shaylah's tutors had been able to teach her was the fact that her fear was called monophobia and that it wasn't uncommon. This didn't make Shaylah feel any better because it meant she had something in common with muggles.
The tears in her eyes were starting to build up and Shaylah was finding it really hard to hold them back so she started thinking about the people who wer closest to her: Jay, Sydney, Angela, Sasha, Stephanie, Sam. All of their faces appeared in her mind one by one as she went into a dream world.

Lily continued to walk. She was getting a little bored of being in the forest herself. And just generally being in the forest. It was amazing and all but Lily didn't feel in the mood to be in the forest. She kept walking until finally up ahead she spotted someone. Lily knew it was Shaylah from the messy unkept hair. Lily neared the girl, and she began to notice that Shaylah seemed close to tears. Lily felt bad for walking off. She bent down to the girls level and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Shaylah? Are you okay?" Lily said, in a voice that had actually made Lily sound like she was worried. Which she had to admit, she was a little. "Shaylah, I know I'm the last person you want to talk to this about, but what's wrong?"

Shaylah jumped when she felt something on her shoulder. When she turned, she saw Livia there. Livia genuenly looked worried. "Oh. Yeah. I'm fine." A wave of relief crashed over Shaylah. There was finally someone there with her. She didn't care that it was Livia. It was still someone. "I can't say. You'd only laugh." This was the main reason that Shaylah kept her fear a secret. She knew that if it got out that she was scared of such a small thing she would turn into the laugh of the school. That was the last thing she wanted.

Lily could see the relief on the girls face as she saw Lily. This surprised Lily slightly. She hated this girl and this girl hated her and yet, she seemed pleased to see her. Lily knew how to deal with upset girls but this seemed different. She didn't like Shaylah all that much. But still she felt like she should maybe help her. Lily knew she might laugh at what ever Shaylah was upset about, but Lily would try her hardest to not.

"I won't laugh, Shaylah." Lily said, she sat down on the dirty ground. She was worried about her shorts, but they were already ruined she didn't care so much if they were dirty. "I know I'm last you want to tell but, I won't laugh, and I won't tell anyone. I can understand secrets." While Lily was generally horrible to people, there was a kinder and nicer side of her, very few people saw and no one had seen in a long time.

Shaylah had a feeling that if she didn't tell Livia her secret then the girl would never stop. "You have to promise you won't tell anyone. My dad's the only person who knows." She waited for Livia's promise then reluctantly told her why she was in such a state. "My only fear is being alone. It doesn't matter where it is. It could be in the middle of a colourful little meadow and it would still terrify me." Shaylah hugged her knees and put her chin on top of them regretting telling Livia one of her biggest secrets.
