There was a sort of buzzing in the air outside. Penny didn’t think much of it at first, until she noticed it was it a wasp that kept swirling around her like it might quite like to make a nest in her hair - or sting her! Penny was not sure and unwilling to risk a painful sting or allow the annoying wasp claiming territory on her hair, she panicked. She jumped, screamed loudly, and started running around in mad circles to get away from it. Of course, the wasp started chasing her which made it worse.

@Finn Lockley

Finn had been sad that he wasn't placed by any of his friends and above all he was placed in Hufflepuf. Finn knew there was a chance with his charming personality, but dam the other boys all seemed like a bunch of pansies. Finn grinned and decided it was time to leave the dorm and go outside. He walked to the great lawn and saw Penny getting chased by a wasp or bee. Finn grinned and walked to Penny. With one big swoop he smashed the wasp out of the hair. It landed on the ground and Finn stepped on it. Hopefully she wasn't some kind of bug lover. ''So Princess, what is my reward for saving you'' Finn mused.

Oh someone had come to her rescue, who was this brave knight in shining armour who had saved her from a lifetime of wasp servitude, to them she owed her life. Was it a dashing Gryffindor? Or a Slytherin with the resilience to withstand wasp threats? No, it was... “Finn!!” Penny was aghast, “Why do you keep turning up at all my worst moment?” She stated rhetorically, swinging for him playfully “First that bloody book, then the train, and now with this and–“ She gestured down at the recently dead wasp, “-That.” She looked at it, “I can’t believe you killed it, I didn't think Hufflepuffs did things like that!” She joked, crossing her arms and making a point not to answer his question or thank him, she’d thanked Finn enough times in the short time that they had been acquainted.

Somehow Penny had the ability to get herself into trouble. The book had been some freak accident, but when he saw her in the train he was sure she was just slamming her fists against the glass. Which was something she did herself, no one told her to slam the glass. Finn grinned and looked at the dead wasp's body. ''Because I can smell when you are in trouble' Finn said while he overexaggerated inhaling his nose. Finn smiled, she then said she didn't think Hufflepuffs could kill everything in their lives. Well, maybe he wasn't the run of the mill hufflepuff. ''Like I said the house doesn't define me'' Finn mused. ''Since you are safe now, did the wasp sting you?'' Finn asked in a worrying tone of voice. ''It is probably defending its hive, so it may be smart for us to move.'' Finn looked around to see if he could spot the mansion the wasps resided in.

It was like a reflex, the moment someone mentioned she had a smell, Penny had to check. She sniffed the top of her jumper then looked at Finn, "Shut up, no you can't! And don't you dare start going around school telling people you can smell me!" Penny warned him, she was new here and didn't want stuff like that being talked about when they were not true.

Finn was a sweetheart really, checking she wasn't hurt. Penny had not been stung, she shook her head, "It didn't get that far!" She replied, looking around, wary that there may be more of them ready to attack. "Yes! we should move on, I heard somewhere that dead wasps release a chemical alarm that signals other wasps to attack. They really can smell when their kin is in trouble!"

When Penny actually smelled her jumper, Finn stifled a laugh. She seemed to be so gullible. ‘Ill keep my Penny smelling sense to myself then’ Finn grinned and was glad the wasp hadn’t stung her. When she talked about the wasps realizing a chemical alarm to signal their kin Finn grinned. ‘’Hey, maybe I am part wasp then, I can smell when you are in trouble.’’ Finn said while walking further up the great lawn to be away from the wasp body that was probably sending its signal already. ‘’So now we have avoided danger, any plans of what to do next?’’ Finn said while looking at Penny.

"Aha! That explains the house colours of black and yellow! It all makes sense now." She replied as a joke, Penny had picked up the slight impression that Finn wasn't happy with his house and that only made the young Slytherin want to pick on him more about it at any opportunity.

She walked to safety with him. ‘’I don't know. I don't know what there is out here." Most of all she enjoyed getting fresh air, the dungeons were the darkest, dampest parts of the castle where Penny did not want to spend all of her time. She gave Finn a look, "Shall we go..." she paused for effect, "...exploring?"

When joked about the house colours Finn grinned, it definitely was a good joke. ‘’Maybe that is why the hat sorted me there then, I was wondering myself’’ Finn knew that this wasn’t going to be the first black and yellow joke he was going to hear from Penny. Finn was a joker himself, so he wasn’t going to be salty about it.

‘’We should definitely go exploring’’ Finn said while grabbing Penny’s hand and started to walk towards other parts of the great lawn. Finn was glad he left the Hufflepuff common room today. It was so stuffy and most of the other Hufflepuffs seemed so boring. ‘’We should make a list of all the things we want to explore while at Hogwarts and every year we thick ones off’’ Finn said while looking around. He knew he wanted to see the forest that he wasn’t supposed to go in and the room that seemed to be different for everyone.

It took Penny by complete surprise when Finn held her hand, her natural reflex was to pull her hand away as quickly as she could. "Oh. I'm not really a hand holder, sorry!" She explained politely, avoiding shouting WTF do you think you are doing, you maniac?! Because she knew his intentions were innocent.

Finn suggested making a list of areas to explore around Hogwarts, that made Penny smile. She loved making lists and ticking items off, and she liked exploring too! "That's a really good idea, out here we can add the lake, the greenhouses and the forest to our list!" She gave Finn a mischievous grin, "Anywhere else?" She asked him, wondering if he knew any areas of the school she didn't.

When Penny instantly pulled her hand away, Finn didn't know what he had done wrong. He looked at her and didn't believe her not being a hand holder speech. The way she immediately pulled away seemed more like a reflex, not something you just don't like. Finn didn't decide to push it and just let it be. ''We should add that special room that vanishes and maybe try going to the cliffs?'' Finn mused ''I would love to see the dungeons as well'' Finn paused ''Hufflepuff is just way too jolly, it makes me depressed'' Finn giggled and looked around for more waspish troubles.

"Special room that vanishes?" Penny gave Finn a quizzical look, wondering if he was playing her. "I've never heard of such a room before, tell me more!" She probed him for information.

Penny laughed at Finn's comment that the jolly Hufflepuff's made him depressed. "I can show you round the dungeons if you like, the Slytherin Common Room is down there so I'm starting to learn my way around, it's dark and gloomy - quite the opposite from jolly Hufflepuff." Penny would've preferred a room with a view and more daylight but she was happy enough in Slytherin.

Finn had no further information about the room that could vanish. He knew that you just stumbled upon it and it was somewhere in the castle. ''I don't know a lot more, I only know that it changes'' Finn muttered ''Some say it was a broom closet others saw it as a toilet, no clue how it works though'' Finn smiled, hopefully that was enough information to peak Penny her interest. ''I an definitely up for some dark and gloomy'' It wasn't like he hated the common room and how everything smelled and looked. It was the people at Hufflepuff, all of them seem so jolly and weird. Most of them seemed to love Herbology and had some sort of obsession with plants. He had even seen one girl that seemed to be carrying a plant just about everywhere, that was just weird. The girl looked at her plants with this loving gaze, like she could go and start kissing the plants every moment.

Finn looked at the Quidditch pitch and wondered what they were going to learn in their flying lessons. ''I can't wait for flying though'' It was probably the only subject he was going to excel at.

Penny could not get her head around what Finn was telling her, "So it's a room that vanishes, then it turns up as a toilet ? It's a toilet that appears from time to time?" It suddenly didn't sound as exciting as Penny first thought, "What is so interesting about a vanishing toilet that can also pose as a broom cupboard?" She put her arms on her waste, expecting an answer from Finn.

Toilets aside, there were so many places to discover at Hogwarts, and seven years to fit it all in. Still, Penny felt rushed to discover it all as soon as possible. She followed Finn's gaze to the Quidditch pitch, "Oh yeah I love flying too!" She replied, "So where to first Finn? The dark and gloomy dungeons, the Quidditch pitch, the forest, or off to find the vanishing bathrooms?"

There wasn't much information on the room and to be fair Finn wasn't an expect on it either. It did sound cool in theory, but he just conveyed it wrong. "The thing is, no one actually knows what it is.'' The information that Finn found was scarce and he still didn't like reading books. ''Since it can be whatever you want or might need at that time'' Finn paused ''So if you need a beauty salon, it will probably become that I assume'' Finn suddenly got the idea of using it as a make shift skate park. That was the best explanation he could give.

''Flying is going to be awesome'' Finn hoped he could make the Quidditch team next year, but for now he was going to attend every Quidditch match there was. Cheering for no particular team. ''The vanishing bathrooms are way too hard to find, no one knows were to even start'' Finn grinned. ''Lets go to the Quidditch Pitch, it is the closest anyway'' Finn smiled.

Penny slapped her palm to her head, "Oh I understand, so it changes for everyone." Now Penny was interested, "What would you like the room to change into for you?" She asked him.

"Alright Quidditch pitch it is." At that moment a wasp flew past, heading to the spot of the dead wasp. Penny looked at Finn and laughed, "It's a bit late to the party. C'mon let's go." She started running in the direction of the Quidditch pitch, it was easy to spot with its huge hoops in the distance.

Finn wasn't really sure what he wanted the room that vanishes to turn in. A skate park would definitely be awesome, but a tennis court was high up there as well or maybe a sweet shop. ''Probably a giant skate park'' Finn paused ''There is no where outside to actually skate on, it is all grass no concrete.'' He could tennis just about everywhere and he knew there were days were they would go to the local village and he could buy some more wizarding cards there. ''You?'' Finn was curious for what Penny would want. She didn't seem like a vain person that wanted a full make up station to appear.

When another wasp flew past Finn grinned. ''Luckily it is only one'' Finn followed Penny to the Quidditch Pitch. ''Do you think you ever want to play Quidditch?'' He said while looking her over. She didn't seem like the though beater type, but you would never know.

Now that Finn mentioned it, Hogwarts did not have suitable skating facilities and the outside was all grass. Penny did have one idea, "You could skate in the corridors. I don't think there is a rule against it? We could seek out a deserted corridor to give it a go - another to add to our list." Penny didn't know if it was against the rules or not but she wouldn't mind giving skateboarding a go herself. She had never tried. "A skate park room is fun though, I'd learn how to skate in there."

"Me. Well, I like fashion so a dress up room with an endless choice of outfits to try on would be great."
She paused, "With snacks and drinks available too!"

The Quidditch pitch was close and it was close up that Penny saw how big it was. The thought of playing a game in front of the whole school made her stomach churn uncomfortably. "I'm an okay flyer and Quidditch is great to watch but I don't know if I'll ever join the team, ask me again after we've had some flying lessons." She looked at Finn and smiled, "I can tell you'll be at tryouts next year. What position would you choose?"

Finn grinned when Penny wanted to add finding a suitable skating spot to the list. He didn’t even know she skated. ‘’Do you skate?” Finn asked with the up most interest. ‘’Don’t think its against the rules, but I don’t think they are very keen on it either.’’ Finn had not read it in any rules, but why wasn’t it happening on a large scale already. ‘’I could always show you some tips and tricks.’’ Finn smiled and spotted another wasp going to the first wasps’ funeral.

‘’I would go for the snacks and drinks, but no dress up room’’
He didn’t need a dress up room. He barely had any clothes, he always just wore the same colour of socks, he had like twenty pairs of them and the same pair of jeans. It was easy and it didn’t require much thought. Finn nodded what if he was horrible in flying, I did try it a couple of times, but he was no where near the official professional Quidditch players. ‘’I am so going to try out, I might go for beater since it is close to tennis, but I am also thinking about chaser.’’ Finn mused.

Penny shook her head, "No I can't skate - my grandmother would've never agreed to buy me a board because it's muggle - not that she's prejudice, just very witchy! If they don't sell it in Obsidian Harbour then she won't buy it." Penny explained in a tone of acceptance in the way things were. "Tips and tricks! I'm going to need a few of those!’

Penny giggled softly at Finn's comments, "No?! But I could fashion you a brand new outfit!" she replied playfully. She didn't know much about Finn's fashion sense since they spent most of their time in school uniform, but she was confident in finding something he'd like. "You'll change your mind when we find the room" She joked, reminding herself of the first hurdle to overcome.

They arrived at the Quidditch pitch. Neither was carrying a broomstick or quaffle so there wasn't much to do here. "Let's go to the top of the stands, I bet the views are pretty good and a bit of prep for how high up you'll be when you're puffs beater!"

When Penny told him about her grandmother Finn shrugged that sounded like the most simple minded person ever. How could you deny the muggle world so much. You knew it was there and it wasn't like you were better than a muggle, you were just different. ''Weird, my mother just let me do anything I want within reason that is.'' Finn smiled, he only had to ask and save money for most things. ''I can be your skating mentor then'' Finn had a spare skateboard in his trunk, he was afraid his normal one would break and since they weren't allowed to go to the shops, he was prepared. ''Another one one the list, teaching Penny how to skate'' When Penny talked about fashion outfits Finn eyebrow raised, he definitely wasn't going to play dress up Finn with Penny. Which was kind of impossible too, since he didn't brought any clothes for such games. ''I hope we never find the dress up room then'' Finn said jokingly, of course he did want to find his skate park, but maybe if he thought harder than Penny the room would become a skate park and not a dress up room.

The view up high was amazing and Finn started to sniff in the air. ''I love heights Penny, would you secretly cheer for me when I become a Hufflepuff beater?"' Finn asked with a dreading emphasis on the word Hufflepuff. She wouldn't have to cheer for Hufflepuff, she just needed to cheer for him.

"It is weird isn't it, but loads of old pureblood ladies are like that, stuck in their ways. My parents would happily buy me non-magical stuff." Mention of parents made her throat tight, she quickly cleared it and carried on as normal.

Quite suddenly, they were up high. Penny marvelled at how quickly they had gotten up to the top of the stands, and at the views too. She scoffed at Finn's question, "I'd cheer you because you are my friend, but not for Hufflepuff to beat Slytherin." Quidditch was a very dangerous game and she wouldn't want Finn to get hurt by the Slytherin players. "Okay one for you, imagine I was a Slytherin chaser and you were a Hufflepuff beater, and during a match I am perfectly lined up to score, and you are perfectly lined up to whack a bludger at me, would you do it?" Penny looked at Finn, she was interested to know how he would answer that dilemma. Penny thought how they must be players on the house teams who have that same issue with their friends on other teams.

Wrong char sorry!

Finn didn’t know pureblood ladies were so old fashioned and against all things muggle. It wasn’t like he wanted to be an Muggle, magic was great, but the muggles had made some great inventions. Finn noticed how Penny changed when she spoke about her parents. It looked like a touchy subject so he wasn’t going to ask her about it. Maybe later when they knew each other better and she actually wanted to share that information. ‘’What I meant silly, I wouldn’t want to be found death cheering for my weirdo house.’’ Finn grinned, he would rather cheer on Slytherin or Gryffindor. The dilemma Penny made wasn’t hard, he knew what his task was going to be as beater. ‘’I would whack the bludger at you, it’s my job in the game’’ Finn paused ‘’I would come back to you afterwards to make sure you are okay.’’ Finn wanted to win he was competitive, but he also cared for people.

Penny laughed loudly when Finn called Hufflepuff the weirdo house, "Ha! You say that, but you should see the state of some of the Slytherins, life in the dungeons seems to have gotten the better of some of them!" She said, "My gran was a Hufflepuff. Maybe that explains her weirdness!"

She accepted Finn's answer on the bludger scenario. "I'd do the same, probably. I might wait until after the match to check you are okay though."

Finn was sure Slytherin was less weird than Hufflepuff was. ‘’I would rather have been sorted in Slytherin with you.’’ He grinned ‘’At least Slytherin doesn’t have plant huggers, weird dancers and other oddities.’’ Some of the girls and boys in his house were just plain weird. ''Maybe Ill become mentally unstable after a year of Hufflepuff as well.'' Finn grinned and looked at Penny. Quidditch was Finn's dream and no girl would get between his dream. He would wait after the match was over and check her over, he also wouldn't try to go for brain damage with a bludger. ''Of course I would wait till the match is over, I can hardly dismount when the game is in full force.'' That would be stupid and it could make him get booted of the team.
