Open Warm Yules

[Padme Hume]

Padme had bought this dress for the last yuleball but obviously getting into Hogwarts Scotland had meant that she hadn't worn it. She had managed to fit it in well, but she was a little taller than she had been when she'd first bought it, but as Padme looked in the mirror she had thought it looked better. She walked into the great hall, and glanced around the room. The room was a little different and she liked it, but she was too a little disappointed to have not for a last time seen the hall she'd grown up with, but it was nice, truer to what she'd always known Christmas before school. She walked to the drinks table and took a cup of butterbeer, sipping it lightly. She didn't have any plans for the event but she was sure the night would be good fun. ​

 

[Sydney Townsend]

Being with Emily had changed a lot of Sydney's attitude to various things around the school but her disdain for the ball would not be easily shifted. In fact, she was only here to make sure Emily wasn't off laughing at her with Eric or any of the other idiots in there. She could see a clump of Gryffindors with Michael Newton gathered together already laughing like hyenas and made a point to glower at them appropriately from her vantage point near the drinks table.

She'd been lurking for awhile when Sydney finally spotted Emily in the hall, her stomach flipping at the sight of her in her black dress and Sydney immediately needed to find something, anything, to do lest Emily catch her staring. "At least this is the last year we'll have to deal with all this, right," she blurted out, spotting Padme and moving to talk to her. Padme was about as far away from Emily on all accounts, nothing there to remind her of the other girl, just what Sydney needed.
