Nolan hadn't really been the type to turn up to events like this. But he guessed it was worth a shot to try. He knew that most of his friends and schoolmates were going, but Nolan wasn't bothered with no date. Though it would've been nice to go with a few people he knew. However, it was a last-minute decision of him going. The Irish boy had quickly put on something nice and appropriate and made his way down to the Great Hall. There already seemed to be a lot of people there, few faces he recognised. Nolan made his way to the food and beverage table and had decided to get himself a drink. While standing by the table, he held his cup of punch and looked around the Great Hall, people watching.

René primary school hadn't really done big events like they had here at Hogwarts. And they certainly hadn't had the budget (or the magic) to decorate like this either. Even after half a year of getting used to the enchanted ceiling in the hall, René was still entranced by it as he stepped into the hall.

Eyes trained on the flowers and falling petals above, he nearly bowled over the entire snack table as he hip-checked it, hissing from the surprise of it and then floundering his arms out for fear of knocking over the punchbowl or something. "Ah, oh, no jeez- Oh. Hey, Nolan," René said, pausing midflail when he spotted his roommate standing nearby below slowly lowering his arms when it seemed like he wasn't about to cause an imminent punch-based disaster.

Nolan looked where it sounded like a hiss of pain and had seen his roommate, Rene, as well as the sound of platters being juggled a little when the table had somewhat moved. However, the Irish boy hadn't seen what happened to the boy who looked like he was ready to hold anything that fell. "Hey, Rene You alright mate?" Nolan asked with slight concern, even if he didn't see what had happened as he was busy looking everywhere else in the Great Hall. Nolan then looked at the punch bowl in front of him, before turning back to his roommate. "Would you like some punch?" Nolan asked as he pointed to the punch bowl, as well as somewhat a conversation, as he hadn't really hung out or spoke to his roommate that often, only seeing him during classes and in their dormroom.

Caleb didn’t really care for Valentine’s day but he did think the roses were kind of cool even though he didn’t get any. Which he found to be kind of annoying but he felt like he didn’t have a whole lot of friends and all of his roommates seemed like weird loners anyways. So the dance seemed like a good place to start. He hadn’t really dressed up and wasn’t even very sure where to start as he walked into the outrageously decorated hall. It didn’t take him too long to find somewhat familiar faces. “What happened to you?” he asked curiously to the boy he was fairly certain he had met before, who also seemed to be in pain.

René tried to straighten up and regain his cool when Nolan asked if he was alright, shrugging perhaps a few shades too enthusiastically in response. "Ah, yeah. Just bumped into the table, all good," he said sheepishly, answering both Nolan and Caleb when he joined them. He remembered Caleb from before school, not totally unsurprised to see him around in classes after the year had started, but he definitely hadn't gotten much chance to speak to him. "What kind of punch?" He asked, peering at the bowl he'd nearly knocked down. "It's pink, aye, but is it like, watermelon? Strawberry? Can wizards just make water look pink?" He asked, picking up a ladle to sniff the punch.
