Preston adjusted the white beard on his face once more as he entered the Great Hall. It was pretty itchy and he wondered how people like his father sported real beards if they felt like this. Placing his staff on the ground, Preston continued to move forward hoping that people would recognize that he was dressed as Merlin the Wizard. He had remembered learning a lot about him in History of Magic and found the wizard to be extremely interesting. Slipping a hand in his pocket, Preston found the dungbombs that he'd bought before school began. He was hoping to let them loose some time before the end of the night, bringing some tricks along with the treats they were sure to get at the feast.

Stopping briefly at the table, Preston picked up a pumpkin pasty and began to eat. It was sticky and he found it difficult to navigate with his beard. Finally, he pulled the beard down so he would have easier access to eat. When he was finished with the last bite, he replaced the beard and began to walk around, hoping to run into someone or something interesting.

Kieran loved Halloween. Although, the young Slytherin was second-guessing his outfit. He was being a grease-monkey, like his uncle, except he wasn't filthy and didn't smell like burning oil. His hair was a little roughed up, and his jeans and shirt had black and brown patches and stuff. Kelsey was nice enough to help him with his face. She was such an amazing sister! Kieran was lucky to have her. It was a shame he couldn't find a dropbear costume, he didn't even know what a dropbear looked like. The Care of Magical Creatures professor hadn't really done much in the way of telling him what a dropbear was and where he could find one. It was distressing to say the least. Maybe Kelsey was right, maybe they didn't exist? Kieran shook his head. This was so not the time to worry about that. It was Halloween, one of the coolest holidays ever, he had to enjoy himself.

The hall looked really nice, it threw a bright smile right on his face. His eyes lit up with delight as he looked around. He moved toward a table and looked at the treats. he was really spoiled for choice. It was so hard to pick between them all. He decided on a pumpkin pasty, but made sure to have some jellybabies in his pocket for later. Hopefully he'd run into Kelsey. He wondered around a little, but stopped when he bumped into someone. He turned and his surprised expression brightened. He knew this boy, sort of. He was awfully familiar. "I'm sorry." He couldn't remember the guys name, but it started with P. Paul? Peter? Perry? Preslen... Preston. He decided to not say anything though, just in case he was wrong. "Heeeey, nice beard! It looks really cool!" He wanted to touch it, but thought that that might be intruding a little. He brushed his right hand on his thigh to clean it of any pasty remains and held out his hand. "I'm Kieran Boneheart," before allowing the boy to reply in any fashion, his bag of jellybabies left his pocket and now rested in his hand, which was extended towards the boy. "Do you want a jellybaby? They're really nice. I like the yellow ones."

Preston was enjoying looking around at the decorations around the room. On the walls hung skeletons that moved around when you got too close. He knew it was just a silly enchantment but they still creeped him out which made them infinitely cool. There were jack-o-lanterns floating around above their heads too. Occasionally, they would open and out would come candy and other things. As he was attempting to catch something that had popped out of a pumpkin, Preston felt himself being jostled and he missed the treat. The boy turned his head, his eyes narrowing until he heard the apology that quickly followed. A smile followed, the third year quickly forgetting his annoyance as his beard was complimented. “Thanks!” He had wanted to get someone to give him one as he knew that there was an enchantment that he could do it, but Preston wasn’t friends with any of the older students so he had been forced to settle for a prop.

As the boy held out his hand, Preston quickly wiped his own before fitting it into the boy’s. “Preston Paine. Good to finally talk to you, Kieran” he greeted the boy. He’d seen him around the common room and dorm area, and he was sure he sat behind the boy in one of his classes, but they’d never spoken before. As Preston was offered a jellybaby, he nodded quickly. Today was absolutely the day for massive sugar rushes and he was ready. “I like the orange ones” he replied as he took what the boy offered. “Thanks” he added as he stood beside the boy. “So what are you supposed to be?” he asked. The guy looked like a mechanic to him, but he wasn’t sure.

Kyle walked into the Great Hall wishing that somehow he could just crawl back to his dorm without anyone noticing him. His last minute decision of attending the Halloween feast just had resulted him dressing as a college graduate and he was not even sure if that was a costume. To top it all underneath the blue gown and cap, the teenager was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He cursed himself for not wearing trousers. His shoes were just hilarious. It was like someone had by mistake announced him as a graduate. Ignoring some of the stares his hairy legs got him, Kyle walked to the food counter and drunk a whole glass of a muggle soft drink. Some cold caffeine was bound to do him some good. He spotted two familiar faces. They were his Slytherin classmates and friends dressed in their costumes enjoying Halloween, clearly way more than he was. Taking a plate and filling it with a slice of pizza, some fries and a cake he walked to his friends with a grin. Kieran's monkey outfit and Preston as Merlin were way genius. "Please don't laugh" he said hoping his friends would show him some mercy. "Your outfits are great" he said as he saw people around him all looking their best. Now that Kyle was in the Great Hall on Halloween he felt like doing some trouble. "You guys planning any pranks? Slytherin is way up on the house points. Wouldn't mind losing some. We are way behind so it won't matter if I loose a few anyway." he asked the boys. If they were in he could summon some prank material from his dorm or maybe they had something stocked right here.
