Tilly’s uncle Erik had insisted there would be a Gobstones Club at Tilly’s school, but he had gone to Ilvermorny, so what would he know? She felt sorry for the gobstones set he had gifted her, which was usually buried in her trunk. While she still didn’t know how to play it very well, she thought she should try and piece it together. The Hufflepuff carried the set down to the Courtyard and dismantled it on a stone table. She opened the booklet of directions and did her best to puzzle out the rules. Perhaps she would find someone to play with her one of these days, but it didn’t seem like it was exactly a popular game. Maybe because getting squirted in the face with stinky juice wasn’t most peoples’ idea of a good time.

Liusaidh was minding her own business, moving around the school just looking for something she could do. It wasn’t that there wasn’t plenty, but more that she didn’t know what she wanted to do that day. There was so much on offer but she wasn’t sure what thing she wanted to go first. As she was walking around she spotted someone she might almost consider a friend, Tilly. She seemed to be playing with Gobstones, god didn’t tilly know those were SO outdated. ”Ah dinnae take ye fae the borin’ type Tilly,” she said skipping her way over to her friend. ”Are ye actually reading the instructions?”

Tilly looked up from her gobstones set at Liusaidh. She stuck out her tongue at the other girl when she said she was boring. “I’ve never played it before,” Tilly said. Why else would she sit and bother reading? She’d never had the game at home. “Do you know how to play?”

Liusaidh wondered why she wanted to play if she didn't know how and had never. "Nahhhh, it seems dull," but Liusaidh went to sit in front of her on the other side as if they were playing. "So whits the first step?" she asked, she had better things she could be doing with her time but she might as well waste it with Tilly. Tilly was decent enough she'd be willing to give it a shot. At the very least she'd be able to make the gobstones do that gross thing and that would be funny.

Tilly took the piece of chalk from the set and drew some circles on the table. “It says we’re supposed to play it on the floor,” she said, shrugging, not caring. Who was here to police them? She counted out fifteen colored gobstones and pushed them towards Liusaidh carefully, keeping fifteen for herself. “Put all of your stones in the center ring, except the one you’re going to use to shoot.” Tilly held up her shooter gobstone- it was a solid one, bigger and heavier than the rest.

Liusaidh watched as Tilly got the ground ready for their game. She couldn't her gobstones once handed them, not that she didn't trust Tilly, but she was always going to count them back. Liusaidh did as instructed, putting all of her stones bar one into the centre ring. "Dae ye just throw it? Whats ma objective here Tilly? How dae ye win?"

Tilly held up the shooter gobstone. “Flick the shooter into the ring and try to knock the other stones out of the circle. So, for example, if I knock your gobstones out of the ring, I get to keep them,” Tilly explained, after referring back to the rulebook again. “The person who has the most stones at the end wins. Also, if you lose one, you get squirted in the face… I think.” She pushed her own stones into the center.

Liusaidh listened along as Tilly described what it took to be able to do this game. She took the "shooter" that she had picked out and then flicked it in to the circle. She hadn't hit it very hard and it just hit one of Tilly's gobstones lightly before stopping, "Dae ah just take my shooter back now?" she asked, since she assumed she had to use the same one each time.
