The Start of the Year Feast

Effie was a little nervous but all the same excited to be teaching the fifth through seventh years Arithmancy during the upcoming school year. Effie adored kids at times and always found Arithmancy to be an interesting subject to not only study but teach to others, she just hoped the kids here were brighter than she was as a student long ago. Effie glanced around the room to lock her gaze onto her nephews and niece as they watched the sorting, Alphonse was pleased that someone was able to watch over them while they were at school, someone needed to keep an eye on Theodore especially now that he had seemingly left the Snow Manor.

Her multi-colored eyes shifted away from their from their forms before she let out a soft pretty smile and refocused her attention back to the first years. Effie remembered being sorted into Slytherin maaanny years ago, it was almost alarming to find herself seeing it all once again.

Rosemarie sat by herself at the Ravenclaw table where everyone around her were talking and she felt all alone. Of course she was alone though, she was a first year. And a Ravenclaw at that, the house she never expected to be in. Picking up the pumpkin juice, she took a small sip pretending that she was at home here with a small smile on her face. Since she was a little girl she had been taught by her father to keep her emotions under check. She made her smile grow bigger, her brown eyes sparkling in delight as she looked around. It was great to be finally here at Hogwarts. The next seven years here were going to be her home and she would prove to the others that she was different from her father.

Andromeda joined Kat at the Gryffindor table, it was hard to believe that she was now in 6th year and that Kat was 7th year. She'd be graduating and flying the coup, dorm 4 would never be the same again. Smiling as she saw where Kat's eyes wandered too she nudged her playfully.
"Surely you got your fill of him all summer long" she chuckled turning her attention to the podium as a tall strange looking man began to speak. Perplexed she looked back at Kat, so there would be no Nicolas King or Cecily Zhefarovich this year. Andromeda's heart flopped she hated change with a passion, scanning the professors table she noted that there were some new faces again and groaned. Would they just stay still, not keep flitting from job to job.

She waited for the sorting ceremony to begin and watched as some new Gryffindors came to their table, clapping heartily as they did so.

Aries sat amongst his Ravenclaws still staring absently at the badge now emblazoned on his chest. For some bizarre reason he had been chosen as headboy. The honor was great but he had never even considered it for a moment. Raising his head as the new headmaster spoke he clapped for the new students about to be sorted. The man seemed alright enough, Aries had to smile about the inclusion of the Forbidden Forest in the speech. How many would even bother to listen to that warning again this year?

Looking about the room he smiled and waved at Fenton and Andy before turning his attention to the Hufflepuff table and Violet. Still as beautiful as ever, he winked at her before clapping loudly for another student who made their house.

Trinity had grown another two inches over the winter vacation. She seemed thinner and harder somehow, as if all the joy and preoccupation she had the year before regarding her rebellion against everything magical had been beaten out of her. Both her grandparents who had been living at the nursing home had passed away, first her grandfather and then from what could only be described as a broken heart, her grandmother. Trinity was devastated and with nothing else to do other than send owls to Tony, she emersed herself in her school books.

She sat now looking at all the first years waiting to get sorted, clapping solemnly for all of them. Politely she smiled at the others at the table, her eyes searching out Tony but not being able to see him she just made polite conversation with one of the new students.

Merlina watched as the students came and took their places, her eyes scanned the room heading directly as always for the Gryffindor table. Wondering how her best friend had faired this time around with his training. Would she find new scars and new hardships that he had to deal with? She caught a brief glimpse of him and suddenly her heart all but leapt from her chest. The flutter was so intense she had to hurriedly look away.

The instinct to place her hand over her heart to make sure it was alright over came her but she resisted the urge incase others would think she was weird. Her gaze fell to Kailey and Aries, the head boy and head girl this year had been chosen from Ravenclaw. She was bursting with pride because of this. Clapping her hands once again as another student made Ravenclaw house, Merlina could not help but take another look in the direction of Gryffindor.

Fenton sat on the other side of Andromeda, his head resting in his upturned palm as his elbow leaned on the table. So Aries had made headboy, it sort of figured really. He couldn't even make blasted prefect not that he was the prefect type but that wasn't the point. So far he had sucked big time at being the team keeper, could not do as well as he knew he ought to in many of his classes and now got over looked for something as massive as headboy. He was delighted of course for Aries but still felt cheated somehow.

He couldn't even bring himself to look over at Trista, all vacation long he had gotten an earfull from his parents about how his studies were so obviously falling behind because of his dating. They wanted him to break up with her but they got the nicer version of that answer. Politely telling them no he had spent most of his vacation grounded under some pretence or other. Not bothering to even clap for the new students he effectively just waved a spoon in the air half heartedly saying 'yay'.

Cyndi sat at the staff at the staff table for her second start of the year feast, though this would be her first year teaching Ancient Runes to every year. Last year, for the first half of the school year, she had been in training and had only worked with the third years. This year, she would be adding OWL and NEWT students to the mix. She was a lot less nervous about it all this year.

Scanning the tables, Cyndi noticed that two Ravenclaws were the headpeople this year. Her eyes moved over to her old table and she saw two of her closest friends sitting side by side. She smiled at them. As the sorting ceremony began, Cyndi clapped as the students were sorted. Her heartiest claps still could be heard when a Gryffindor was chosen. It was too ingrained in her from all the years of welcoming students to the Gryffindor table.

Victor sat at the Gryffindor table, listening onto the headmaster speech. He was kinda sour that Professor King had resign but understood very well why headmistress couldn't he here. Victor watched the sorting ceremony only for a while, he cheered when a few students were sorted into Gryffindor. It was than when his mind began to wander off, at what summer was like in California just recently. He sort of missed it, and wished Vincent had been able to come to Hogwarts. But instead he was stuck homeschooling, mom didn't trust Vincent enough to be shift off towards a boarding school. Especially a magical boarding school at that. Victor blanked out of his memory, as he scouted around the great hall. At least he had one person he was looking forward to see, his girlfriend Arias, he had a bit of news to tell her. His eyes continue to scan the hall especially towards the hufflepuff tables.

Arianna sat at the ravenclaw table, not doing much. the festivities around her did not interest her too much, as she was currently in the middle of altering a very complicated recipe to suit her needs but retain the same taste. She looked up when she heard her little sisters name being called, a bit dissapointed when the old hat yelled out Gryffindor. But Alyson seemed happy enough nonetheless so she didn't dwell on it, she would surely see her sister around the school either way. Plus Alyson had always been braver than her older sister. Her summer had been okay, she helped her aunt around the dress shop for some extra cash, got caught up on her reading, learned some more songs on her guitar, and caught up with her muggle friends. But she decided to put her book away and mingle, she really needed to get out of the house more.

Anita was watching the sorting rather intently, being only a second year herself she still remembered how it felt to be in those tiny first years shoes. Had she really been that small last year? It sure didn't feel like it. Then again she had always been a bit big for her age so chances are she really wasn't that small the year before. Either way she clapped enthusiastically when Ravenclaws were called out from the sorting hat and the children the shouts belonged to made their way over to the table, talking to a few of them and to a few of the older students. The summer had been quite odd for her, filled with new people. This was the first time she had been with all of her siblings in a non school setting and they were all adjusting to their new uncle, even if Anita wasn't actually related to the man in any way. She looked up at him sitting at the front table for a moment before looking back to the students. She didn't have too many expectations this year, she just didn't want to get in another fight.

Luna was looking at the younger students proudly, her brand new prefects badge reflecting the light of the Great Hall. she was so excited for her older sisters, Kailey had gotten Head Girl. Something Luna herself didn't aspire to be but knew Kailey was happy with it anyways, and both Twins getting recruited into the pro quidditch league. Luna couldn't get them to tell her which team, just because of how eager she had seemed and it was killing her. Luna thought there had never been a better time to be a Ravenclaw since Hogwarts New Zealands opening, Two Ravenclaws as the heads. All they needed was another quidditch cup and house cup and ravenclaw would be the house for the year. though Luna doubted they would get all of that. Forgetting her Ravenclaw pride she looked over to the Slytherin table where her boyfriend of two years, Angus Greenwood, was sitting, giving him a bright smile. Unlike last summer she had been swamped from beginning to end and they had gotten to see very little of each other. She would definitely attack him in a hug later. She couldn't believe she had gotten so lucky with him, everything seemed to be perfect in Lunas life right now. She just hoped it stayed that way.

Kailey returning to the school was... Bittersweet. So much good was going on in her life right now, She had been named Head Girl which had totally surprised her. She had also been recruited alongside her sister to be a part of the Thundelarra Thunderers. Neither had a main spot yet but even just being brought on as an alternate was amazing to them both. But it also shot a blaring red flag at both of them. After this year, that was it. Kailey was already documenting the 'lasts' she was having as a hogwarts Student. The last Winter break was over and this was the last sorting she would witness, a big reason she was paying so close attention. She knew she would be a wreck at the end of the year, this place had been her home for the last soon to be seven years. But the good came with the bad, with her graduation started the planning of her wedding. Life was changing so quickly and it scared gher quite a bit. Pushing off these thoughts for now she engaged in conversation with those around her. Trying to just live in the moment for the last year of her school life.

Unlike her twin, trista was feeling quite optimisistic about everything. Beauxbatons to Hogwarts had been her big hurdle, this would be nothing. All of the friends she had made at both schools she would be certain she would keep. Even with her what would be busy schedule of practices and games. She hadn't told Kailey yet but the Thundelarra Thunderers keeper was getting switched after the next season. Meaning Trista had a pretty good shot of getting in the starting line up her first season out of school. It was a long shot but she was trying to stay happy. She looked over at Fenton who seemed to be in the exact opposite state of mind from her. The smile slipped off of her face a fair bit, what was wrong with him? she let out a small sigh, knowing she wouldn't be able to focus on anything else for the rest of the feast now, except for maybe the food at the beginning, she was starving. She would definitely have to catch him after the feast, it had been far too long and hopefully she could cheer him up.

Link sat at the far end of the Slytherin table. Not paying attention on what the bloody headmaster was saying, or giving hells that he cared. He didn't even bother looking up when first years got sorted into Slytherin. He wasn't here for all this celebration really he would rather have been in his flat smoking a cigarette, or doing something more productive in ways to earn some more loots. Link felt eyes staring at him strangely because he was a stranger to those around him. The only ones that would recognize this youth would most likely be old professors and students who have already graduated from Hogwart. Good. It was better that way, he was only here to escape what happen during the summer and of course participate in the twi-wizard tournament. Link sat for a little while, till he got bored and decided to leave.

Imogen was more than a little pleased to be back at Hogwarts for her third year. She had been a bit disheartened by the fact that she had not been able to go back home for the holidays which had meant 3 quite lonely months working at Florish and Blotts. But this was all going to change. Immy was now a third year. It was hard to believe. It seemed only yesterday that she herself was being sorted. On which note, immy noticed a man, someone of the school faculty who she didn't recognise. She came to understand why a few seconds after. Imogen listened to the Head master speak. Immy watched as all the first years were sorted. It was nice to watch. Just seeing them all walk up to the hat. Instinctively she ran a hand through her curly blonde hair and scrunch to tips in her hands, it helped make her hair curly when wet, she clapped very loudly for all the new Gryffindors. Hoping to see a lot of promise from these little ones.

Imogen smiled to herself when the food arrived and began to eat. Thinking of how weird it was that she was already a third year. And that she would be very busy this year with electives. For which she couldn't wait to learn. It would be an amazing year. Every bone inside Immy was saying exactly that. Immy couldn't wait. She reached out a hand and poured herself some pumpkin juice.

Joe walked into the Great Hall for the second time, then took a seat next to a friendly looking older guy, as he hadn't yet made any friends in Hufflepuff, and he sure needed to. As the feast began, Joe smiled excitedly then picked at the food that was infront of him, before looking around the Great Hall in amazement. "Wow." He said to himself with a smile.

Jaden sighed as she listen to the endless welcoming speech, and the long sorting process that took place right after. She didn't bother looking up as newly sorted first years join their table. Even if she did recognize a few names, she didn't budge because she was bored and tired. Her vacation was spent back in Maine, her father granted permission to let her visit for once, after two years of not seeing her old friends. Jaden already missed it, and grew sad once she had to leave to go back to Hogwarts. Its just not fair, she still wonder why her father had moved them all the way to New Zealand when she could have perfectly well went to Salem. Once sorting was over, Jaden didn't have the appetite to even take a bite of turkey slice. She sat quiet for the most part not even looking up, as she picked the end of her sharp manicured nails.

Lily was by no means glad to be back at school. Her first year had not gone terribly, but it was suffice to say she had built a strong army of enemies. Which of course Lily didn't mind at all. Her real name was known by a few now. Something Lily had gather would happen, so she told herself that at least she would be a little more honest. When Lily said a little she meant a little. She would be honest about her name and her birthday. Though it wasn't coming for another four years which suited the young slytherin fine. Lily unlike everyone else had chosen to not wear the uniform. She wasn't ever going to wear it. She was accepting the magic and some of the rules, just not the uniform so instead she was wearing an outfit which reflected her personality. She didn't bother clapping apart from when Slytherins were made. She didn't lift her eyes though. Instead she looked at her nails, and began to paint them a black colour to go with outfit.

It surprised Lily a bit when food appeared on the table. Since Lily wasn't able to do 4 to 6 hours of dance a day, she had to make up for it somehow. Even if it did mean she didn't eat. Once her nails were finished Lily looked around her. From the corner of her eye she spotted Jaden, at this Lily gave a small glare. She would destroy that girl this year. No matter what. But she took her eyes away from the horrible sight, and to the food. Lily served herself some green beans and water and began to eat. In an almost awkward fashion. She still wasn't used to all the people eating at the same time as her. For Lily Fossil eating was a private affair.

Jaden looked up to meet the gaze of no one else but Lily Fossil. With a playful smirk, Jaden flare her little nose as she blew a kiss her way. "I missed you." she mouthed to give Lily something to look at, when she should be minding her own business. It made Jaden laughed at Lily expression as she looked away for a second. Secretly though for some reason Jaden was actually ecstatic to see Lily, there was something inside the made her question these feelings. Maybe she just missed toying with the girl, even if last year she was almost caught doing magic by guarding the well being of Ahora. Lily and her friend Allyn had been the one to cast stupefy on Ahora, thankfully though they were caught only by fouth years. Jaden had fled before the situation got worst anyways, she looked back at Lily and wonder what she was thinking at the moment and if she ever got in trouble for what happen last year.

So her name was Patricia then, glad to know that he knew at least one other person's name around here other than his families. She too seemed shocked that he was a Hufflepuff and happened to be related to the Snow family. Apparently both Theo and Alyssa had made a name and an image for the family in this school then, this made Xavier suddenly miss Beauxbatons more than ever. He wondered what Vincent and Trilby were doing at the moment and if they at all missed him. "Yeah, it's hard to believe I'm related to them huh?" The odd part was that he was also a pure blood while they were part-Veela, and he still had less respect from the family than they did. Perhaps all he needed was a chance to prove he could hold just as much power in the family as they could, after all he was a Snow so anything was capable right?

"I am really liking it here so far, it's was different than Beauxbatons. I haven't really made any friends yet though." He had plenty of them back in France, but seeing as he had only been here one day it wasn't that big of a deal to him that he didn't have any friends yet. A small smile graced his lips as he looked back at his siblings, the two of them seemed so popular with all their friends and others who gossiped around them. "So tell me, do you ever talk to Theodore or Alyssa?" Patricia didn't seem like the type who would get along with Theodore at all, but he knew his little sister usually got along with anyone who didn't bug her about fashion or act rude. No wonder she and Gabrielle instantly clicked together instantly.

Sixth Year. This year, Violet was determined to try harder. Much harder than last year. She'd dropped the ball a little - and a lot with Quidditch, stupidly trying new manouvres and causing her to fall and break her leg. It hadn't taken long to heal, but it had been merely 2 hours before the match, so she'd had to withdraw at the last moment.
Oh well, this year she'd try harder. Be a good prefect - which she'd have incentive to do, considering her boyfriend (no, fiance) was Head Boy. She was extremely proud of Aries, he deserved the position and she was sure he'd do a great job. Of course she was biased, but still. She met his eyes and winked back, a grin on her face. She'd miss him so much next year when he had graduated and she was in seventh year. Oh well. Best to make the most of now.
Cheering every time a new Hufflepuff was sorted, Violet was determined to make this year the best yet, starting now.

Aroha was a second Year. It was hard to believe that she had even survived first year, so much had happened. Walking into the Great Hall, Aroha recognized the people she had met in First Year. Immy, Sephora, Mikkie, Jaden, and of course that girl that'd stunned Aroha on the last Brightstone weekend. Aroha still knew that the girl was gonna pay.

Aroha clapped at every new student for Gryffindor, in fact she clapped for them all. Aroha knew that not all Slytherins were bad. It was awesome not to be the youngest anymore. Aroha took a small amount of some peas and carrots and started to eat.

Steven was nervous, being in his first year at Hogwarts but at the seventh grade level. As he looked around, he saw a vast amount of people crowding around, talking. He knew no one at his table but was determined to make some influential and powerful friends throughout this feast.

As the sorting hat was put on for the first years, Steven clapped for everyone, especially the Slytherins. He knew he was going to have to try hard to impress everyone, and make sure that he was the best of his year. Famished, Steven took a large amount of good and started to hungrily eat.

Sidda made her way to the Griffindor table. She sat down at a spare seat and looked around the huge hall and smiled. It was all so amazing! She thought about being a first year. She was probably going to be picked on because she was small and skinny, and had red hair. People tended to pick on redheads. She knew that she looked like an easy target, and so would have to make sure she let people know that she wasn't to be messed with. But at least she could stand up for herself.
She smiled at the people around her. They would be her house. She'd probably know these people's names by the end of this year. She would know, and possible care about these people soon. It was incredible.

She clapped for the other first years as they were sorted, and looked at the people sitting around her, hopig to join in with a conversation.
