The Staff vs Students Wheelbarrow Race

Anthony grinned at Clementine as the two of them made their way down to the Wheelbarrow Race. He was happy that she wasn't mad at him anymore, though he didn't understand why she had been mad in the first place, it wasn't like he had asked someone to send him a rose. He shrugged the thoughts away and took his place at the starting line, flexing his arms as a joke and chuckling softly. "You ready for this?" He asked, taking her ankles in his hand and when Professor Cliffeton called out for them to begin he took off at the fastest speed he could muster, he wanted to win this and he knew Clem would likely feel the same.

Solomon had been initially uninterested in the wheelbarrow race, but with Merrill seeming down as of late, the boy had decided to sign them up. After his stumble in the dueling tournament, he needed to get back into a competitive event and redeem himself - especially after losing to Anthony's girlfriend, of all people. At the very least it had averted any potential drama between the Slytherin and the Hufflepuff boys. Had it gone any longer, he may have resorted to trying to petrify Clementine rather than the disarming spells they'd thrown back and forth, and he doubted Anthony would be too impressed if he'd done so.

Readying himself at the starting line, Solomon took hold of his partner's legs, his own arms and legs noticeably more muscular than they had been earlier in the day, metamorphed to appear more athletic. He wasn't sure if he'd gain any advantage doing so, especially with Merrill the one leading, but if it worked, it worked. At the sound of the race beginning, Sol urged his friend forward, throwing a sideways glance at Anthony and Clemetine. "You mean when you lose." The Slytherin corrected, and while it came across as friendly teasing, he was not going to lose to her a second time, even if it meant tripping one of them up.

Soren took a deep breath as he approached the wheelbarrow racing area erected on the lawn, feeling both excited and anxious at the idea of competing. The prefect had been looking forward to it for the past week, but now that the day had finally arrived, his whole body felt particularly clumsy. He'd doubled knotted his shoelaces to be safe, and yet every few steps he took he felt the need to check them again. The last thing he wanted was to trip over his own feet and crush Des beneath him in front of the entire school. That would be just typical. Arriving at the race, found his Gryffindor partner, feeling a small flush of confidence. "Ready?" He asked with a grin, prepared whenever he was to start running, or in Des' case crawling to the finish line.

"Why am I the wheelbarrow, again?" Des did not remember agreeing to this at all. This was a bad idea, he'll end up eating mud. Soren could barely walk without tripping over, and now Des was literally putting his face on the line, here. He tried to beam confidence at Soren, feigning total trust in the Hufflepuff's ability to steer. "We've got this." If they didn't stack it. The Gryffindor got into position with his partner, and tried to maintain his balance for the exercise, and as the race began Des was ready to go - once he co-ordinated moving with Soren. He nearly kicked the Hufflepuff in the face, and then nearly fell flat on his stomach, but all was forgiven (he naturally assumed Soren was at fault) once they started gaining a little ground.

April was impressed by how fast Kauri was going, she had no trouble keeping up in the easier position but she still didn't think she could have been this fast. "Woo!" She shouted too. "Go KAURI! You're doing great!" She said, holding onto his legs tightly as they moved forward. She was proud of her friend but didn't want to lose focus. She really really REALLY wanted to win this! It would show the older students that they were something to watch out for! And it would just be fun too.

Clementine was struggling to keep up, mostly because she kept laughing at how foolish everyone looked. She knew they weren't in first place but at least she knew they were definitely ahead of the Potions professor and the tiny goblin professor, so at least they wouldn't come in last place. She stopped midway when she heard someone talk to her and looked up through her hair to see who it was. She saw Merrill and had to crane her neck to see Solomon was her partner and the one who'd made the comment and smiled brightly at him, laughing lightly. Whether he meant it threateningly or not, Clementine wasn't fazed by it and began crawling again quickly as best as she could and said, "But it'd be so cool to see you turn pink again!" Clementine didn't mean it sarcastically, but she realized belatedly he might misinterpret it as her making fun of him.

Rose laughed and nearly fell on her face when Rory shook her legs. "Stop that!" She attempted to kick her, which also made her lose her balance and nearly fall again. "Woops!" She managed to get herself steady again. "Stop it, Rory! It's not as easy as it looks." She didn't sound too serious though, still laughing to herself. They were falling a bit behind. "You have the easy job, support me!" She told her friend as she kept going. Her hands weren't going as fast as she wanted them to, it was sort of annoying. How were some of the others so much faster? Did they have super strong arms?

Gideon appeared momentarily confused by his partner's accusation. "What, how did you kn-wait." He sputtered, acting like he'd been caught out. Truth be told, the coin wasn't loaded, but he was happy to play it off like it was. "I mean, that's crazy. I would never." He grinned as they raced forward, steering the girl left and right by her legs. It was too late for her to retaliate now. An older couple of students passed them by, and the Gryffindor quickly urged his friend onwards. They weren't about to be beaten by some big know-alls. "Faster Gilly! Let's taekwan-go."

At this rate, Aeon felt like he might tumble head first into the dirt with how much Kida was pushing him forward. There was only so fast his arms could move as it was. "You don't need to push so hard! I'm not a bludger!" He called back to his partner, trying his best to stay far enough away from the ground. Wearing a white shirt was not the best idea he'd had for the event, and he had no doubt it'd be covered in grass stains by the time they crossed the finish line. That, or mud. "How are we doing? Are we winning?" Honestly, he couldn't tell, so focused as he was on moving one arm after the other. It was only now that he realised Kida would have made a much better wheelbarrow with the upper body strength she had as a beater. Poor decisions had been made.

Signy shook her head and giggled lightly. She wouldn't fall over, she had this. She just put one hand in front of the other, moving as quickly as she could. She liked it, it was difficult, but doing it with Xavier was the best thing ever. Signy couldn't stop the smile that was on her face as she continued forward easily trying to push herself in front of both other students and professors. She looked up for a moment to see how far they were from the end, before trying to go even faster, "Come on Xavier!" she encouraged going faster and trying to make him go faster too. They didn't have a chance in hell of winning if they didn't pick up the pace. She knew that winning wasn't everything and really she was just happy to spend this time with Xavier, but she thought that winning could also be very fun and why wouldn't they try their best to be the best team here. Really, it was the thought of working hard with Xavier and the possibility of victory that drove her on. She could keep going, and move as quickly as she could without falling over.

Rory nodded when Flavio said he was ready, he was sure that the boy would manage just fine with moving them forward, he was the eyes, checking where others were and ensuring that they remained on the same path towards the finish line. Rory was of course very eager to win, not only because he thought it would demonstrate that he was a good friend, despite what other certain hufflepuffs thought, but that they could work together to achieve something. he urged the other boy forward, not wanting to lose the race, not wanting to at the very least not be last. That way he could still justify the ice cream, of course it had been on the condition of winning but Rory usually got what he wanted. He wanted to win this, he just knew that he couldn't win this through just wanting it to be so, Rory was gathering that occasioinally he couldn't just be handed things, "Come on Flavio, let's try to be quicker, we're not too far behind," He encouraged, trying himself to push forward more quickly.

Kida adjusted the grip on her cousin's leg's as they swayed as he walked on his hands, she regathered her grip and kept going 'You know you don't need to walk with your legs only your hands' she quipped back to his response about pushing him too hard.

He asked how they were going and she looked up her long hair had created a curtain around her face, she flicked her head back to help her to see but she wasn't sure 'I think so?' she said with absolute uncertainty.

Xavier continued moving forward with a wide smile on his face. All he really wanted from that day was to participate in the race and have fun with his friend. Though he understood that Signy might have wanted to win so he attempted to step forward faster, following along with her encouragement. He still worried that if they tried too hard to catch the lead they might fall over and lose their place, but he tried not to let that bother him as he giggled and put one foot in front of the other. They were close to everyone else in the race and not in the lead (at least from his perspective) but that did not stop Xavier from wanting to do his best for the sake of his friend.

Rory laughed as Rose attempted to kick her, and then even harder when her friend almost fell over. Rory lurched forwards with her, one of Rose's legs almost being pulled from her grasp in the process. "How is this the easy job?" Her question was just about the most serious she had been during the entire race, although with the grin on her face she was sure Rose couldn't tell. If Rose could see her face, that was. She kind of wanted to shake her friend's legs again for something to do, but refrained from doing so, instead choosing to tap her fingers against the bottom of Rose's shins. "I kind of thought I already was supporting you," she laughed. "Come up here and try it yourself if you don't believe me." Were they even allowed to switch positions halfway through? It wasn't like they were at the front of the pack or anything.

Flavio wanted to win the race for the sake of it, and to please his friend. The promise of ice cream was secondary though he still would be happy to have something to celebrate a win if they managed it. At Rory's prompting, Flavio attempted to quicken the pace of his hands on the ground. His palms were going to be sore and dirty when it was all over but the fun was worth it. He momentarily considered looking around to see what the other teams were doing but he chose to keep his attention forward, worrying that if his mind strayed from the goal for even a second, then they would lose the chance they had to win.

Justin smiled as everyone launched into the race and seemed to be having a really good time at doing so. The leaders changed every so often and for the most part it was a pretty close race. He grinned as he watched them run, wishing that he could have joined himself, but maybe he would next time. He looked a little bit ahead of the leaders and saw that they were quickly approaching the finish line and it would all be over very soon.
OOCOut of Character:
The next team to cross the finish line wins! Both roleplayers have to post before they're considered the winners.

Kayleigh heard Des whisper about someone but she was focused on winning. "Don't care right now!" Kayleigh hissed back. The finish line was in sight, and Kayleigh pushed Des as fast as they could go, finally making it across, where she fell over laughing, trying to catch her breath.

The finish line was just ahead, and before Aeon had a chance to shout this fact out to Kida, he felt her roughly pushing him forward, scrabbling uselessly at air as they charged across the line. The professor could see it pass below him, but whether or not Kida made it across too, before another team did, he couldn't tell.

Kida saw the line up ahead, she adjusted her grip on Aeons ankles 'Aeon! Move your little arms as fast as you can there's the line' she said giving him a push and following his lead over the line.

Desi started to laugh at her reply until he realized why she didn't care. The finish line was just in their sight. Continuing forward, Desi passed the finish line and watched as Kayleigh fell over just beyond it herself. He did laugh this time as he quickly stood up and held his hand out to help her up. It was then that he spotted the other team. The smile vanished as he stared dumbfounded at Kayleigh. They'd been beaten by...old people. "No freakin' way" he murmured to his girlfriend.

Rory could see the finishing line in sight and he was pushing forward and forward, he wanted to win badly, he pushing towards the finish line, "Come on, we're so close," but even as he said that he noted two of the professors who'd managed to finish the race, but they could still at the very least finish the race, so he would press the little distance forward that they had to complete. They might not win but they could just not be the last ones.

Signy was going as fast as she could, putting one hand in front of the other and moving as fast as she could forward. She could almost taste the victory they could have, that was until, she just stop, spotting a little bug on the ground and knowing that Xavier would probably really want to see it. Signy just had not thought this through very hard, though because she didn't say that she was going to stop, she just stopped.

Flavio noticed the finish line was in sight tried his hardest to reach it before anyone else. He felt his hands burn with the more effort he put in but as he crossed the finish line with Rory to realise they weren't first, he didn't regret it. It was of secondary importance to winning, but they had tried their hardest no matter whether they had won or not, and they also had fun. At least Flavio thought he had fun, he couldn't speak for Rory on that but he tried to look on the bright side as he stood up from the ground and dusted his dirty hands on his pants in an attempt to clean them. "That was good!" He said to his friend, smiling.
