The Sorting Ceremony

Elliot's breathe caught in his throat as he craned his head back, taking in the starry sky held impossibly within the hall's high ceiling. It put him ease somewhat, flicking his eyes upward to familiar constellations as the headmaster spoke.

Forbidden Forest, Orion, many dangers, Cygnus, call your name, Southern Cross...

"Briar, Elliot."

Elliot spared one final glance upward before walking forward, a mumbled excuse me as he brushed past the other students. Okay. He could do this. Breathe in, one step, two steps, five. Slowly, he turned and lowered himself onto the stool, eyes now firmly on the ground. The hat lowered onto his head. Breathe out. Listen.

"Hufflepuff!"

Isla would have been jumping around on the spot in excitement if her pockets hadn't been full of items weighing her down. Perhaps she should shake off her robe, it was quite warm inside the castle. Then again even if she did, she would probably end up bumping into her new classmates with the bag that hung from her aching shoulder, and so the brunette shifted nervously, waiting to be called in to the sorting ceremony as discreetly as she could.

Apparently her time at Hogwarts wouldn't all be fun and games but she felt as though she would be ready for anything. It took Isla a moment to realise when her name was called, as she was eyeing up the food on the tables beside her, hoping she'd get a chance to taste it soon. Once she was planted on the stool, her eyes scanned the room for her brother, although when they did meet him She wasn't surprised to find he wasn't paying her any attention. She loved Elio but the siblings were polar opposites, and she was more than ready to hear where she belonged.

"Hufflepuff,"
