With Amortentia now leading the Wild Patch Club, she was currently out on the lawn with the rest of the official club leaders promoting the club for plants, meaning that Felix had been passed the title of High Brewmaster from his sister. She'd still want to lead the Brew Crew and host the events, although this year would be her busiest and Felix didn't mind giving the prefect a hand, especially as it wasn't as though he had anything better to do.

"We're making something real special at Christmas!" he grinned at the students that came past the stall. Felix and Amortentia had set up the stall so it had a large cauldron with something sweet and brown bubbling inside it, small vials of unknown substances decorating around the edges. Felix was handing out small vials to those that signed up to the club, containing a dark red, still warm concoction.

Felix knew he would need to get as many first years on board as possible. "Potions are just as important as spells at school, so if you join the Brew Crew we get to help each other out!" First years weren't allowed to brew potions, but that didn't mean they couldn't learn the skills needed so that next year, they'd be ready. "Want to practice chopping your ingredients? Mervyn, do you want to learn what ingredients you even need to chop?" he asked, thrusting another red vial of non alcoholic mulled wine at a first year.

The Brew Crew

Welcome to the Brew Crew! The focus of this club is to help support students who either enjoy brewing potions, would like to be better at brewing potions, or to improve their knowledge and techniques of handling ingredients and recipes.

The leader of the Brew Crew is known as the High Brewmaster. They are responsible for events, meetings, and making sure that students are only brewing potions within their year group or lower.
Those that want to help other students with techniques, recipes or ingredients, or give advice to their peers, are known as Brewmasters. You can request to be a Brewmaster at any point but can still only brew and assist with potions in your year group and lower.

Throughout the year we will get together to discuss brewing techniques and how to handle, locate and use ingredients you'll often need to use for potions. Toward the end of the year, we'll have an event where students can choose a potion to brew, supervised by the older students and the school nurse.

Luke knew about the Brew Crew, because Freddie and Susie were in it. "Does this mean I can join the students in the upper years?" The Slytherin asked the boy running it. It was all fun and games being able to have lessons with his classmates, but it would have been even cooler if he could watch his brother and sister making their potions too. Until now, he'd only ever heard about this sort of things.

Mania was a girl on a mission, she needed to get her sister signed up for possibly the best club at the school, official or not. She headed towards where the stand had been last year expecting to see the familiar Prefect, but instead she stopped in her tracks for a second as she saw her younger brother. Turning to her sister she spoke to the Slytherin. "Alright we are going to go to that stall, and you'll sign up for the club. Just follow my lead right? I mean you could do it yourself too but you know what I'm just taking you there and you'll do the rest, yes?" Pulling the girl behind her she walked up to the boy a year older than her. "Hi, she would like to join, right Windy?" Nia presented her sister.

Felix turned his head as one of the first years asked him a question. "We'll all be together, all of us from every year," the Gryffindor nodded. "You won't be able to make what they're making, but you could watch I guess," last year there had been a few students from the younger years that had come over the the table Felix had been sat at.

Felix almost took a step back when Nia came practically charging across to him, and he glanced down at another first years, presumably. He looked between the two girls, before asking a question he couldn't resist, "...Windy?"

Eris didn't understand the absolute hassle Mania was making about these clubs. She was treating this club fair thing like it was job recruitment or worse yet, military recruitment fair. Though she didn't get it the first year followed her sister around quietly, just doing as she was told. The less of a fuss she made the faster it would be over. She gave a quick nod confused what got her sister overexplaining everything to her Greek but just followed to a seemingly Potions club?

Giving a deadly glare at her sister Eris looked at the boy that was now asking about her stupid stupid nickname. She was going to kill Mania and that was that. It was going to happen, there was no way around it. Taking a breath in she looked at the older boy. "My name is Eris Athanasiou, first year and I would like to join your club." Eris put emphasis on the name Eris and gave another glare Nia's way and then to the boy, daring him to say anything further.

Nia rolled her eyes at Eris and then nodded to Felix. "Windy, she's usually where the wind is so I call her Windy." She explained with a nod, feeling the burning of the glare from the first year.

Felix knew about Hera and Gaia, but this was the first time he'd really heard about Eris. "Alright Windy," he said, handing her the sign up sheet. "Stick your name down there and you're in." he told her, before producing two more vials. "Here Nia you can take one of these too," he gave both vials to the Gryffindor, glad she'd managed to recruit her sister for his sisters club.

It took all her willpower not to march out without signing up when the boy called her Windy. Mania should sleep one eye open when they got back to home. Taking the sheet Eris took a few breaths in before signing her name on the list. She watched the Gryffindor give her sister something, clearly the two knew each other as the boy called her Nia. "You know, we just call her Menace." Eris said with a conspirators smile before walking away to leave her sister to deal with the consequences of her own actions.

Luke listened as the boy turned to two other girls, one he recognised from his own house. He started sniggering at their nicknames. Windy was unfortunate. As Eris turned to leave, Luke scribbled his name down on the sign up sheet and headed out after her, determined to find out whether she was known for eating too much cabbage at dinner.

After making his rounds at the club fair Ulric had gone outside and was surprised to find there were even more clubs. He wasn't sure why things were split up but when he heard it was about potions he came closer. He even perked up when he saw Eris but she had left before he arrived and he was too hesitant to call after and instead watched her go before turning to the older boy at the table. "I'd like to join please." he said formally. @Felix Layton

Felix already knew the nickname Menace, but he wasn't going to let Windy know that. He chuckled, before turning to another first year who had come over to the stall. "Course you can!" Felix passed the boy the sign up sheet, "Mulled wine?" Felix presented him with one of the non alcoholic vials, hoping it would be a nice pick me up for the colder months they were currently experiencing.

Natsuko was just wandering around when she spotted a stall set up. She approached curiously. The Brew Crew. Natsuko didn't know anything about potions, let alone if she was good at it or if she liked it. Well, she was good at making ones out of dish washing detergent and essential oils. That counted, right? Natsuko made her way over to the students. "Hi! Can I join even if I don't know anything about potions?" she asked curiously. @Felix Layton

Sofia was feeling rather proud of herself after successfully signing up for a few clubs at the fair, and was on her way back to the castle to get some homework done when she saw another stall at the entrance of the castle, seemingly for another club. She was curious why this club was all the way out here and not on the lawn with the others, and was going to skip past it until she saw what it was about.

Her mother was a witch but relatively speaking, a lot of her magic was more holistic in nature so Sofia grew up thinking of that as magic rather than wand waving. Her mother loved growing weird plants and using them in potions, which is why Sofia had signed up for the Wild Patch Club, but this one seemed specific to Potion brewing. Intrigued, Sofia stopped by the stall after all and listened to the older student talk about the club, eager to join.

Sofia recognized a boy who had also stopped by the Wild Patch Club booth a little earlier. She played with the little bottle of rosemary and mugwort hanging off the necklace she'd received from the booth. She decided to approach the boy and stood beside him as she waited to sign herself up. Before she could lose her nerve she decided to strike up a conversation with him. "Plants and potions do kind of go hand in hand, don't they?" she smiled at him.
@Ulric Vale

As another first year asked if she could join, Felix wondered whether he could help her feel like she wasn't at a complete loss, even if she'd never had a lesson yet. He uncorked one of the vials of mulled wine, "Smell that," he asked her, a grin appearing on her face as he gave her a moment. "Step one of potions; ingredients. You're halfway there already." It would likely be a lot of what first years would cover in their lessons too, so if she could already identify a few ingredients in a substance then she was already on the right track. "Yeah you can sign up, and keep that if you want to," he gave the girl the cork and the sign up sheet, glad to have another member. @Natsuko Hirano

As Felix glanced to another first year, he realised quickly she was playing with something around her neck. Was that one of Ten's bottles? As the girl started talking to one of the boys, the Gryffindor listened in and felt even more confident this one had already been to the Wild Patch. "Exactly, they do." The fourth year took the chance, "I see you've already met my sister, Amortentia," he added, wondering if any of the first years would make the connection with her name. "This is her club, but she's also running the Wild Patch this year, so I'm helping out on this stand while she's out there," he explained. "Potions and plants overlap in a lot of ways." @Sofia Gutierrez

Ulric blinked when the older boy passed him with sign up sheet with more enthusiasm than he thought was called for, but he wrote his name anyways. He hoped the club would be fun and that he'd get to learn something from the older students. He felt like he had a good foundation of knowledge and it might be a while before he was really challenged during his lessons. He looked at the vials of mulled wine and shook his head. "No thank you." he said stiffly. But before he could escape into a quieter place a girl he crossed paths with during the real club fair spoke to him, and before he had a chance to answer the boy interrupted him. If he has been one of his siblings he would have tried to set his table on fire or hexed him. But he was not Osiris or Astraea, instead his irritation bloomed and festered in his chest as he shot the boy a withering look before turning his back to him to only face his fellow first year. "Yes they do." he said simply. "It's why I find them so fascinating. That something so small can hold quite a lot of power." he explained. Feeling emboldened by his anger he continued. "I have a lot of books about some rather rare plants and their uses, if you would like to see them sometimes." he offered rather formally. @Sofia Gutierrez

Sofia startled slightly; she had not expected her question to be overheard, much less answered by the club leader instead of her fellow first year but she smiled politely anyway. The connection to the Wild Patch club was further made as he revealed the girl passing out the bottled necklaces was his sister who also helped with this club as well. This only fueled her confusion as to why this booth was all the way out here. "Why are you not hosting this at the lawn with the others then?" she asked curiously, trying to keep any skepticism out of her voice but suddenly eying the corked bottles he was passing out, especially since the boy she had initially addressed turned one down. @Felix Layton

She refocused her attention on him and smiled as he answered her as if the older boy had not. She hummed in agreement at his description and nodded encouragingly. "My mom calls it the most authentic form of magic considering it doesn't require incantations to produce something powerful," she said. At his offer Sofia smiled and said, "That sounds nice, I'd like that. I'm Sofia," she introduced herself. @Ulric Vale

Natsuko smiled. The boy seemed nice - like he was trying to put her at ease. Then she felt a flash of irritation that he dorm mate and this other first year were getting along. They sounded like they already knew about potions too - and plants - and were talking cleverly, to Natsuko's ears. Natsuko gave a small huff, signed the signup sheet, and quickly left to go and do something else.

"Truer words have never been spoken. Your mother is wise." Professor Finch had just been walking by when he'd heard the young girl's words and he couldn't stop himself from responding. He looked just over her shoulders at the table and the sign that introduced 'The Brew Crew.' He read swiftly, a genuine smile crossing the old man's lips as he recalled his own forays in such a club. "You're the leader of this?" the man inquired to the young man sitting at the table. The man has seen the leaders of some of the other clubs out on the lawn earlier and the majority of them looked far older.

@Sofia Gutierrez @Felix Layton

Felix chuckled as the girl asked him why they weren't on the field. "The clubs on the lawn, they're the school's official club, so members get their faces in the yearbook for it," he explained, "but there's a few other clubs out there that are hosted just for fun," Felix shrugged, "The Brew Crew isn't official, yet," although he knew Amortentia had every intention of it being one day, "so we're over here for the time being." He supposed with Amortentia leaving at the end of the year, it would be down to him to keep things going. He'd considered that when Ten asked him to help out, but honestly given the history in their family, Felix was excited if others took enjoyment from Potions too. @Sofia Gutierrez

He left the pair chatting, although the girls interpretation of magic reminded him of someone. Maybe he ought to introduce them one day. There was another girl that Felix only noticed when she huffed, and turning his head he spotted that she was signing up. He tried to grin at her but he wasn't sure if she noticed. As he turned his head back, he almost jumped out of his skin when he came face to face with a professor, although a new one at that, and felt a split second thought he was doing something wrong. Felix tried to stand a little taller, reminding himself why he was here, "Yes," he supposed it ought to be official that he lead things now anyway, he may as well be confident in himself. @Professor Ioan Finch
