Had Ares been surprised that Marina had accepted his invitation? No. It was surprised he'd been rejected on three occasions prior though, the other girls thinking it was more important to trust others opinions rather than making their own. Marina however, seemed inclined to give Ares the benefit of the doubt, and so far what he knew about her was intriguing. The Gryffindor lurked around in the Halloween Feast, chuckling to himself as a few of the weird costumes came walking in, and wondering why people put in so much effort into an outfit that they'd only wear once. His own costume was something his mum had bought him before he came to school, and it was easy enough to slip on when the evening festivities had begun.

Marina could not have said why she’d accepted the offer to got to a party with Ares Zephyr - she barely knew anything about him other than what she’d heard some of the other girls in their year talking about. Considering they were only two months into the year as well, she did actually think it was quite impressive that he already seemed to have made a name for himself. But it fairness, it wasn’t like Marina had a lot of people she could talk to about it - she didn’t exactly have any friends. She wasn’t trying to have any friends in reality, but that didn’t mean she didn’t sometimes feel like she was all alone. She wasn’t sure people would like her very much if they got to know her, so she had no issues sort of ignoring them for things she felt like she wanted. What was the problem with that?

She spotted Ares as soon as she headed in. They were kind of matching, sort of, she supposed, in the way people who wore superhero costumes did. She spent a moment watching him, the way he was watching other people. She smiled lightly to herself because it said a lot of things about him, she thought. He seemed to be similar to her in terms of just doing what he wanted to in the moment, rather than focusing on what it was going to mean afterwards. Consequences and all that. “Ares,” she called to him, heading over. “Did you forget your mask, Spiderman?”
