Sorting Ceremony (Y7)

Nerves racked Lisa's body as she waited for her turn to be Sorted by the infamous Sorting Hat. She stood in a line with the other new first-years, in full view of all at the Opening Feast. Colour rose to her cheeks; she had always hated being in the full view of people she didn't know. She anxiously smoothed down her robes, waiting, waiting...

"Boatwood, Lisa!"

Lisa jumped; she had forgotten she would be one of the first. Stepping shyly forward, she walked towards the stool, and put on the famous hat. It was very big for her; it slid over her eyes. Her already red cheeks now turned maroon. How more embarrassing can this get? she thought to herself.

What if she didn't get into Ravenclaw? Lisa didn't want to think about that. She couldn't imagine herself in any other House. I had better be sure. She started to chant in her head; Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, please!

"You've got it. RAVENCLAW!"

Ai stood in the crowd of her fellow students looking like a dark cloud in all the light. Her empty cold eyes looked straight ahead at the Headmaster and at the sorting hat. The thing that would decide her fate. She started to think about where she was going to go. She did have the treats of a Slytherin. Ambition, drive, and a rather cruel streak that showed when she wanted it to. But then she wanted to be a Ravenclaw. This was where she felt she belonged with those of skill and knowledge, those that thirsted to know everything that could fit in their heads. She knew that her brother Kai would feel the same. She spotted a speck of white among all the black or brown heads. Her friend Aleyha was there too.

Ai waited where she was though. She was not about to be one of those girls that ran up to the people that they knew and shout, "Hey there girlfriend." She despised those kind of girls. More often than not Ai would have to turn away tuck herself into a book or two to stop herself from hurting that kind of person. Hyper and bright she wished for nothing more than to suffocate all the life out of them. Again Ai put those thoughts at rest.

"Adlam, Ai" was called finally and she walked down the stretch to the front of the hall. If she was nervice at all she didn't show it. As usual there was no emotion etched in that pail face. Ai sat down neatly on the stool and put the hat on her head. I lay my fate in you hands. She thought as she folded her hands neatly on her lap and waited for the hat to make it's call.

"Yes, you do belong most to the house of wisdom - RAVENCLAW!"

Judy looked like she was about to faint. She was pail and clammy with cold sweat. What if the hat said that she wasn't magic enough to be in Hogwarts? What if they said that they made a mistake and she had to get back on the train? Judy was shaking like a leaf. All she could do to keep herself from throwing herself into hysterics was cling to her brother's arm and pray that they called her name soon. Name after name was called in alphabetical order. Judy now wished for all her heart that her last name had started with a letter higher up in the alphabet. Sherman was most likely to be near the end of the list.

Aleyha's name was called and Judy felt herself be shoved out of the way. She lost her balance and fell at her brother's feet. She was too nervace to care though. Judy picked herself up, smiled weakly at James and clung to his arm once more. More names where ticked off and Judy could feel the sweets she had stuffed herself with on the train start to turn in her stomach. How imberessing would it have been to get sick all over the Great Hall floor. Judy gulped as the 'S' started to be called. Suddenly she felt herself with out a support.

"Come back" She wanted to shout but her voice failed her. Finally Judy heard her name. "Sherman, Judy". She felt like she her legs had been filled with lead. Judy made her way up the sorting hat trying to ignore the fact that everyone was most likely staring at her. She picked up the had with shaky hands and sat on the stool. Judy placed her hat on her head and waited for the Hat to make it's decision if it made one at all about her.

"You'd be a friend of Helga's if she was still alive. Yes, you belong to HUFFLEPUFF!"

This was it. The day had come. It was the sorting ceremony, the day that mean't everything. Though it wasn't like she was nervous. She was perfectly calm. She knew that she'd get Slytherin. It was the house that ran in her family well..with one exception but she rathered not to think about that. She looked around at the pathetic students around her, fidgeting, biting their nails, shifting their weight constantly. Honestly..

She looked around at the hall as the professor made the introdcution. As if she cared. Ava had to admit, the hall was very impressive to tell the truth she wasn't expecting it to be half as big or grand as it was. She then turned her attention to those who were called first. She giggled quietly at some students who were sweating and breathing very quickly. Most of them were sorted into Hufflepuff. The leftovers, she thought to herself.

"Prince, Ava"

Then her name was called. Ava wasn't expecting it. She was too busy laughing at others to realise it was already at "P". Then something strange happened. Her heart began to thump in her chest. She thought it was just because that she hadn't mentally prepared herself, yeah thats it. Never the less she strutted up to the front of the hall. Making sure to kept her calm. She knew she was doing a good job, Ava was quite good at acting though never admitted it to anyone. She sat down on the old stool reluctantly. Then she rested her hands on her skirt as the hat was placed on her head. Ava hoped she wouldn't get any sort of hat hair when it was taken off. Stop thinking about your appearance! She told herself, Alright hat lets just make this quick, yeah? She waited for the hats decision taking the occaisional glance at the Slytherin table, to see who she would sit beside.

"Yes, you're right. You belong in SLYTHERIN!"

James smiled at his sister and kept reassuring her the whole time they stood there waiting. He was so excited and couldn't wait for his turn. He did wish at times to have a name with something before the letter S so they could get done faster. Other times he was glad that it took forever sometimes.

When Judy went and fell over he caught her and kept her from falling. He then gleared at the person you knocked her over. He reassured her again and kept her from killing his arm. He went and held her to try to confort her. He hated how she had lost her back bone. He hoped that the sorting hat would see that she was brave deep down just like he and the rest of the family was. He so wanted ther to be in the same house has him so he wouldn't have to worry so bad about her for he would be able to be there for her and help her.

When it was his turn he went up there filled with excitment and and nervusness. He hated leaving Judy alone knowing that without him she might freek or get sick. He sat down and waited for the sorting hat to tell him where to go. He really hoped it was Gryfffindor and couldn't help but beg to have Judy put into the same house as him. He knew that deep down she was brave ad had courage just like him and the rest of his family.

"You seem quite brave, and if that's what you want... GRYFFINDOR!"

The day had finally come, the sorting ceremony. Of coarse River was not nervous for her mother had told her stern and strong that everyone accepted into Hogwarts will indeed be placed in a house. All that needed to be done was the sorting itself. No one was just going to be pushed aside now, which surprisingly was a huge relief for this young Irish Redhead.

Leaving the house that morning, River had discussed the sorthing with her siblings. Sage of course teased saying that she would be placed in Hufflepuff. River's only retort was 'who cares if I am?!?' River really didnt' care which house she was in. Though she did wonder. Really she wanted to be in Ravenclaw so that she could be around one of her best friends Oscar. Though she didn't know how much the house suited her outgoing and hippyish personality. Gryffindor seemed the house that she was leaning for more, but she dare not speak it in case she was the one to jinx her chances.

Walking into the school wasn't as nearly intimidating as River would have thought. No the school was not just big and scary like she had heard, it was more beautiful than anything. Admiring the work that the school building probably took, River's mind wondered more towards how many nights she would hopefully be able to spend outside on the lawn sleeping under the stars.

Before long this young girl was pushed into the school along with the eager crowd of children. In the great hall they stood, River making note of just about everything. How great all the floating candles looked. how many people there were. How each house seemed to have their own table. It was all so much to take in, this redhead had to close her eyes and take a deep breathe just to relax her easily excited aura.

Soon the names were starting to be called, after a singing hat that startled quite a few people. Laughing a bit in jest not to be mean at the few scared, she just waited. Surprisingly Dallas came sooner in the name list than River had expected. Flipping her long red hair back, she began to make her way to the front of the great hall towering over many of the shorter first years.

Taking her seat, she crossed her legs, her flowing white skirt falling gracefully on her thin and long legs. Closing her eyes she felt the hat be placed on her head. Within moments she heard it speaking. Was she supposed to speak back? Curiousity got the better of this young soon to be sorted children as she whispered to the hat not worrying about looking stupid in front of the crowded students right in front of her.

"I don't know which house I want to be in. Well I do" She paused "but I don't want to jinx my chances. Rose says that's my mother. But year Rose says that if you say something too often you will jinx it. I really haven't said it aloud yet, but" River stopped taking a small breath. "It would be nice if I was in Gryffindor" She said finally crossing her fingers and holding her breath as the sorting hat finally had it's chance to make the decision.

"You can't jinx what house you'll be in. A Gryffindor is a Gryffindor, and you're definitely a GRYFFINDOR!"

Immy followed the long line of pupils in her year towards the front of the hall. Immy looked around her, in awe of the beauty of the hall. It was more amazing than anything Immy had ever seen. Perfect. It was the largest, magic, grandest hall she'd ever had the fortune to enter. It made a small smile appear on Immy's face. She belonged here. Immy looked to the four tables, with the students looking to the new first years. It felt both nerve racking and empowering to walk down the middle of the tables, with every eye watching the walkers. Immy looked at fellow students as the stopped in front of the teachers table. She saw many familiar faces. It felt good to see a few people, she liked and secretly hoped they'd be with her in the same house so she'd have someone she'd know in the same house. Wouldn't anyone.

The head teacher began speaking but Immy's mind was long gone. Which house? Her mind was speaking. Immy was sure she had traits of all four houses. She knew for a fact that she didn't want to be a Slytherin. She didn't think she could use others to achieve her own ends. Which of the others. Would she prove herself to be Loyal and Hard working like those of Hufflepuff. Would she prove herself to smart and wise like those of Ravenclaw. Or Would she prove herself brave and noble like those of Gryffindor. Anywhere, Immy knew she would strive to be the best she could. In whatever with whoever. She was brought back when someone pushed past her and went to sit on the small stool in front of everyone. Sorting had begun. It wasn't long until she heard her very own name.

"Day, Imogen" Immy closed her eye's took a long deep breath and made her way on to the front. She sat down and smoothed out her skirt before looking out at the sea of face's. She felt like she was at a football match but instead of a nameless face of the crowd she was the one playing. Having people wait to see what would happen to her. If she would be fall or stand tall. Immy took a second, long deep breath as the sorting hat was placed on her head. Words were flying around in her head, Sly, loyal, wise, brave. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin. She'd been waiting weeks for this moment. She'd met people with all different talents and personalities which made each one different from the next. Now, the singular moment which would decide her fate for the next 7 years. It would decided what badge she wore as she did her major exams which would decided the next step in her life after school. Immy closed her eyes and waited for the waiting to be over.

"I can see greatness coming from you - greatness best fostered in GRYFFINDOR!"

Teddy stood with all the others, waiting to be called. He was feeling more nervous than he ever had before. What if I don't fit in any? He quickly shook that thought out of his head, reminding himself of the many pep talks he had been given before he boarded the train. Teddys' head shot up as he heard Immy's name called up, he watched her be sorted into a house.

As he waited for his name, Teddy took the time to look around the hall that he was standing in. It was beautiful. It was also filled with losts of people, there to watch their sorting.

"Cameron, Teddy."

The sound of his name pulled Teddy out of the slight daze he had gone into. He pushed past a couple of people and walked up to the stool and felt the hat land on his head. He listened as it spoke.

"You seem kind and gentle - another one for HUFFLEPUFF!"

Renesmee walked into the Great hall with other first years. She was nerveous as her eyes scanned the house tables for some one.She didn't know why she still hoped that Jacob could be here or that he wouldn't have moved on.She had no luck trying to make out people from where she stood between a crowd. She was of morderate height for a first year but some of her fellow were very tall. She saw Judy loose her balance and fall down. She wanted to help her up but she could not budge the crowd. Her name was called and she made her way shily to the podium and sat down on the three-legged stool. The sorting hat was placed on her head. She could see that every one was looking at her.On the slytherin table she saw a boy's fammiliar handsome face. Her heart sang,"Slytherin oh please."but her mind was settled on Griffindor or Hufflepuff.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Izzy walked slowly into the hall, gaping around her at the decor in the vast room . Candles floating high above there heads cast a soft orange go on the crowds below, the smell of food filled her nostrils and she realised how hungry she really was. Hundreds of pupils lined the path she had to walk , no one was speaking, all was still bar the gentle shuffle of the feet that had just entered the room.
Making there way up to the front of the hall, a rickety chair stood alone, with a fading old hat sat upon it. Izzy wondered what an earth she would have to do, hoping that she didn't have to do anything too extravagant, after all she knew no magic at all . The thought sent her heart beating , she was sure people would be able to see.
She looked around and saw the other students around her, waiting to be sorted just like her. Faces paler than winter snow, eyes wide staring at the hat.
Izzy closed her eyes and counted to 10, her heart beat slowing to a healthy beat . Before she could open her eyes again a voice filled the room speaking out to the students below. Her eyes snapped open, the hat was talking!
The sorting had begun.

"You've got an intellect about you that will be best nutured in RAVENCLAW!"

Bailey knew that she would be the first of the Addison Triplets called up to the sorting ceremony. The annoyance that this would give Skye was more than enough reason to savior every moment of it. Hearing her name called, Bailey walked up to the stool paying attention to her surroundings.

She noticed how worried some of the students before her looked, how scared others looked and even how smug a few seemed to feel. Looking around the great hall she noticed Toni at the table. Giving her sister a small wave at the table, Bailey flashed a smile in the way of Madison and Skye even if madison seemed to be the only one to care.

Taking her seat she crossed her legs and wondered what she was going to say to the hat. Should she tell him that she wanted to be in Gryffindor. How she knew deep down that she had the courage that was needed. Or should she not say anything at all. Should she just let the hat decided and cross her fingers that the house that was destined for her was indeed the house of the lion.

After what seemed like hours of debating but what was only minutes, Bailey decided. Just in time since the huge hat was placed on her head. I want to be in Gryffindor She thought maybe too stubbornly. She didn't mean it that way. Really she just wanted to sound sure, as sure as she felt.

I don't want to be pushy about it but I feel like that is the house for me. If you think otherwise I would love to hear why but really I think I can prove to you that that is where I belong Now crossing her fingers she whispered over and over again "Gryffindor" until finally the sorting hat was ready to speak. Closing her mouth and opening her eyes to look at her sisters in the huge crowd, Bailey waited for the one spoken word that would decide it all.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Madison couldn't believe that the day was here. She was so excited she could barely stay still. Her hair she was twirling and her feet kept tapping. How much longer were they going to make her wait and just stand here? Not that this young girl was impatient it was just that she was over excited. Waiting when you are over excited never really works out.

Luckily Addison was rather close the start. Bailey got to go first which meant that Madison got a chance to look around. Seeing Toni sitting at the Slytherin table, Madison gave an over the top wave only to have Toni bury her head acting as if she didn't know her own sister. "Maybe she's just nervous for us" Madison thought outloud never really thinking anything negative about her sister. How could she?

Turning her attention back up to the front, Madison waited for the hat to speak. Clapping loudly when to finally sorted Bailey. "Whoo Go Bailey Whoo" Madison said loudly smiling brightly as she was proud of her sister.

Now it was her own turn. Walking up to the front of the room, Madison jumped up onto the stool laughing as she thought about what would have happened if she missed. Now that would have been funny She thought closing her eyes and waiting. The hat was placed on her head and Madison hummed quietly.

Hey Mr. Hat She began not knowing really what to say. I'm Madison Addison. I bet you know that. Afterall I've heard you know just about everything. how is that possible? It must be hard to know that much She thought laughing a bit as she took a break realizing how much she was babbling.

Sorry I like to talk but I bet you want to get on with the ceremony and Skye is going to kill me if I take too long so about houses. I dont' really care. Anyone that fits me would be lovely. She thought swinging her feet a bit as she waited for her house to be picked.

"Your future lies with HUFFLEPUFF!"

Skye walked into the Great hall along with her sisters. Of coarse they walked side by side as if Bailey and Madison didn't get the hint that Skye didnt' want to be around them at all. It was just pathetic in her eyes that they continued to hang around her. When I get sorted away from them I swear I won't see them ever. Thank god She thought the thought more happy and relieved than anything.

The Head Master or Professor or whoever the annoying man speaking was, began to give a small speech. Skye rolled her eyes the entire time making the speaking motion with her hand showing that the man was babbling and really no one cared. The sad truth was that many of the surrounding students did care. Skye was not one of them.

Finally the hat sang the stupid song and it was time. Addison was one of the first last names to be called. Of coarse Bailey went first, then Madison and it was Skye who took the last spot. Hearing both Bailey and Madison be sorted, Skye could only pray that the dumb hat knew enough to realize that even though she looked almost exactly like her sisters she was nothing like them. A house other than the house of Bailey and other than the house of Madison suited her best.

Finally it was her turn. Pushing a small boy out of the way as Skye made her way to the front of the great hall. Sitting down on the chair she ignored the waving of her two sisters at their new tables. "Don't put me with either of them" She spoke aloud to the hat realizing that maybe the nice approach would do her well this way. Afterall Toni had once told her that 'you get more bees with honey and not vinger' thought that saying was lame and rather idiot it made sense.

So hat She thought not knowing how to changed her tone of her thoughts. The hat would just have to realize that. I don't want to be with my annoying sisters. Slytherin would be best. No way they would ever say I am like them if I get into that house. Plus no where else suits me She thought as she placed her hands on her lap and waited. Not wanting to think about anything else about the sorting hat, sorting or houses. If she drifted back to that thought she may just say something about the hat that would only make it mad. Getting the person well raggy old thing that decided her future mad would not be the smartest move. Even Skye could realize that.

"As you like it. SLYTHERIN!"

Minx stepped through the grand, double doors and stopped. The great hall was HUGE! The enchanted ceiling only made it feel bigger.

Then she looked at the tables. There were HUNDREDS of students. A major attack of fear and self-conciousness hit poor Minx. She whimpered quietly, then moved forward so she didn't hold up the others.

She tried to compose herself as she watched person after person take the seat up there, in front of all those people. Her stomach was doing a spin dry of it's contents at the thought. Just as she was relaxing...

"Potter, Minx"

Minx almost wet herself, but she made her way to the front of the crowd and sat on the stool. Her heart ran at a hundred miles per hour and her sweat glands were baling gallons. The sorting hat was placed on her head, and she almost fainted as it spoke.

"There's absolutely no doubt about you. HUFFLEPUFF!"

Emma was tucked in between some people she had met later in the time she was in New Zealand, chatting quietly with them until they were slowly picked off. Then it happened, she was all alone. She looked around her, and saw Leia go up she smiled, her best friend was in Hufflepuff, yes it wasn't the house for her, but would not just stop talking to her because of that, no that was not something she would do, that was too mean. And Emily was like a little ray of sunshine so she would be friends to anyone and everyone she could.

Emma looked around, searching for Cyril, but just as she had spotted him, she heard the M's begin to be called and she would be up soon. They had gone through the Ma's and were now on the Me's as there weren't any others. Finally her name was called, she gave her beaming smile and made her way up over to the stool. She took in as many aura's as she possibly could as she looked into the crowd but she had reached the stool and sat down carefully.

The sorting hat was placed on her head and she thought to it, Don't mean to be rude Mr Sorting Hat, but do you think you could place me in Slytherin or Ravenclaw, I'd prefer Ravenclaw though. She took in a sharp breath and awaited what was to come, would she be placed into the house she wanted? Or would she not thrive in Ravenclaw like she wanted? This was all answered when she heard the hat's next words:

"Yes, your intellect definitely fits you in nicely in RAVENCLAW!"

As Lilly walked forward toward the sorting hat she felt no fear. Her mother and grandmother before that had both been in her favourite house, Gryffindor. Surely she had to be sorted there too?
Even if she wasn't she knew it would make no difference in her family life, but, she so wanted to carr on the family tradition..

About halfway through the sorting her name was called Lovegood, Lilly

Oh , surely the people could hear her heart beating , it was so loud! But , she kept a calm face as she walked forward, sat on the stool and prayed , Gryffindor Gryffindor Gyffindor .. but what would the wise old hat reply?

"Very well! GRYFFINDOR!"

Laylla sat quietly. Her eagarness to hear her named call was making her tap her foot lightly on the ground. She was ready, determind, brave. She knew where her heart belonged. If she wasn't placed there she would understand but she knew herself better then even the Sorting Hat could know her. Laylla had cofidence in that.

"Laylla Kensington" Her named echoed through out the room as she stood up, proud at that very moment over her name. She was ready. She walked with a twist in her step ready for anything. She was ready for it all.

Words playing in her head of the letter she recived from her dad that her mom wrote while she was pregnat. "Be brave, Be strong, go with your own ethics not everyone elses, and most importantly my dear Laylla be happy with the way you live your life." Laylla sat down with pride, cofidents and bravery.

When the Sorting hat was placed on her head she smiled "GRYFFINDOR" Thats all she said in her head. then the thought whispered. "But I will deal with whatever I am given." She waited to hear the answer about her life for the next 7 years.

"It seems you'll be given what you want. GRYFFINDOR!"

Makenna couldn’t believe this day was finally here. The day her freedom would be granted. The day she would be sorted and then have a whole year to get away from her father and grandfather. Maybe during this year she would be able to think about finding her mother and living there happily ever after. Don’t be positive now. It will only let you down. You will never find your mother and you will never have a happy ending The voice in Makenna’s head spoke loud and clear, Makenna obviously listening to every word that it spoke, taking it all it. Her thoughts, her voice, only spoke the truth or at least that was what Makenna thought.

Today her outfit was her baggy black sweatshirt and her baggy jeans along with her oversized combat boots. This was basically the basic outfit for this young slim girl. How would she survive having to wear a uniform that showed off more skin than she would have ever dreamed. Maybe she would wear leggings underneath the skirt. Was she allowed to do that? Makenna hoped so and even if not she probably would. Even jeans underneath if that was not pushing the limit just a little too much.

Walking into the great hall, this young girl had her arms crossed tightly across her chest. She tried to stay at the back of the crowd due to the fear she experienced from too much human contact. This included just bumping into the random people that were pushing about her, freaking her out as the time went on.

The professor began to speak and Makenna clung to every word he said. Though he scared her slightly because of the simple reason he was of the male gender. Though what he was saying seemed to make sense. The next thing that made this young girl jump was the sorting hat song. A talking hat. Now that was something she had never read in a book or watched in a movie.

The names of all the people were starting to be called. With each name before her, this young girl’s mind swirled. What did all the houses mean. The hat had said something about each of them right. Were they something more than just a house you lived in? What really were the houses were they groups? Makenna pushed all her questions down knowing that rule number six on her father’s list of rules was not to ask questions. Not that Makenna could ask questions now.

“Morgan, Makenna” The voice said.

Flinching a bit at her name, Makenna slowly made her way to the front closing her eyes as she accidently bumped into a few people on her way to the front. Stepping up onto the stool, she took her seat crossing her legs and crossing her arms over her chest even tighter.

The hat was placed over her head and Makenna closed her eyes her body shaking slightly from being up here. People probably thought she was scared of the sorting but really she was more afraid of being up here, displayed in front of all these people. Everyone staring at her. Please let this be over with. Please let this be over with. I don’t know what the houses are I don’t want to be up here right now. Not with everyone staring at me She thought her eyes closing tighter waiting for the hat to call out one of the four houses as it had for the rest of the students. Slytherin Gryffindor Hufflepuff Ravenclaw She thought over and over again just wishing the hat would pick one for her.

"Though you might do well in Ravenclaw I see you thriving in SLYTHERIN!"

Felicia was so excited as soon as she stepped through the double doors. She could see tables of magnificent foods and colours, and then there were the ghosts hovering around. aswell as the roof. it was much more then her mother and father have told her. she walked up with the crowd and listened to the speech trying to keep her excitment under control.

Not long after the speech they began the sorting process. Felicia watched all the other Students get called up. she sighed as she waited for her name. Felicia shuffeled a bit when she heard her name get called

"Honey, Felicia"

She pushed her glasses up her nose and made her way up the steps and onto the stool. the hall looked so big now from up here. she pushed her glasses back up her nose before waiting for the hat to be placed on her head.
Felicia sat and waited to be sorted.

"You could fit in in many houses, let's see how you'll do in RAVENCLAW!"

Twyla walked into the Great Hall, still not believing that she was actually at Hogwarts. She had to stand in the line with the other first years. She was watching all the others get sorted, she was watching the hat with interest, she had never seen a talking hat even in her house with other wizards. Her parent's had been very annoying about the whole Hogwarts thing, they weren't revealing anything. And her brother was in to much of a grump that she went to the New Zealand Hogwarts while he had to go to the England Hogwarts, he wasn't happy about that so he refused to tell her anything she knew.

She was nervous and excited at the same time when she was standing in line, twirling her purple hair around her finger. She bit her lip as the person in front of her got sorted. A million thoughts were running through her head, she wasn't sure what house she wanted to be in, which house she was going to be in.

'Burke, Twyla'The hat called. Still startled she stumbled up to the stool and placed the hat carefully on her head. While she was thinking how awkward it would be, getting stuck on someone's head she gasped as the hat talked and automatically sorted her.

"You'll fit in with the gentle and kind spirits of HUFFLEPUFF!"

Paul walked down the hall keeping as far away from his sister as possible, there was still some hope that people wouldnt make the connection that they were related. He was looking around at each table wondering where he would sort himself. but his main focus was food. and what the next prank he could pull would be. He stood in the group drumming his fingers against his leg slightly. a bad habbit when he wanted to think about something or was excited.
It wasnt long before he heard his name get called

"Honey, Paul"

'Why do they have to mention last names' he thought. but he looked nothing like his twin so he still was safe... hopefully.
Paul made his way up the steps and sat on the stool. the hat was placed on his head and he had to quickly hold onto his knee's so he wouldnt put his hands on the hat and start running around with it. he waited quietly to be sorted.

"You'd do well in two houses - Gryffindor or Slytherin, but your cunning and your will to win tell me you might fit more in SLYTHERIN!"

This was it. The moment had come at last. Jessy had walked into the great hall with all of the other first years, and enjoyed watching the others be sorted. She hadn't really felt nervous until her turn came. She didn't want to be sepparated from Kyle. They were best friends, they were supposed to be together.

Kyle had not yet been sorted, but when her name was called, Jessy felt like she was saying goodbye to him forever. If he was in a different house they would spend less and less time together and drift apart. There was nothing she could do about it, but she could always wish..

"Talent, Jessica!" Her heart skipped a beat. This was it, the moment of truth. She hadn't felt nervous up until this very moment. Her whole future at Hogwarts depended on what the hat chose for her. She knew the hat was wise, and always made the right choice, but hoped more than anything that the right choice included Kyle...

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sterling knew the day of sorting had to come soon or a later. Here he was not even knowing which house he wanted or even having a huge group of friends surrounding him talking about how great he was or how great the sorting was or anything great at all. “Pathetic” He said to himself his accent coming out a bit. Sure Sterling was a nice enough guy but he was a bit superficial and he did like to have a large group of friends or at least a clue as to what was going on.

Listening to the names being listed, Sterling almost hoped his name was closer to the start of the list. But no “S” was far away. Finally it was called by the gentleman up front.

“Staton Sterling”

Sterling put a proud and confident smile on his face as she made his way up the front of the room and took a seat carefully on the stool. He wasn’t sure what he was going to say when the sorting hat was placed on his head. Some people spoke aloud, he noticed. Other’s remained silent and looked blank. Others looked like they were thinking really really hard. Maybe he would take the blank approach. It seemed easy enough.

Feeling the hat being placed on him, Sterling just flashed a smile to the crowd in front of him as he wanted. I don’t know what I want so decide for me He thought his eyes clouding slightly as the hat too time to decide as to which house Sterling was supposed to be in.

"Your want to be surrounded by others just like yourself tells me you'd best belong in SLYTHERIN!"

Noah sat anxiously as he waited for his name to be called. He'd been looking forward to this moment for as long as he could remember, and it had finally arrived. Tuning out the buzz of voices around him, he glanced over the room. Noah's eyes were sparkling in delight, the whole thing was just as the books had shown. The ceiling was a silky black, sprinkled with stars. Lamps hung along each wall, the flames flickering, as if they were as excited as he.

Although he had become very engaged in taking in the sights, he stood quickly when he heard his name. Coughing quickly into his hand, Noah made his way calmly to the stool. Sitting down, he crossed his fingers on both hands and began to chant. "Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw." he repeated quietly, as he felt the hat drop slowly onto his head. Since he was a small boy, Noah had known that Ravenclaw was the house for him. He'd even made sure to read more books, and go to museums, just so he could be a little smarter every day. This was the moment that could make or break him, but he knew that the hat would choose wisely.

"Ravenclaw? Hmm... well, you'd do quite well in Hufflepuff, you know. Actually equally as well as Ravenclaw... well, if you're so determined.... RAVENCLAW!"

Wiremu sat, bouncing his knees impatiently. When he'd entered the room just minutes earlier, his jaw had dropped at the sheer magnitude of it all. He'd only found out about the magic world a few weeks prior, so everything was still new to him. However, he was a confident boy, able to take anything in his stride. Watching the other students be sorted, he smiled, seeing the funny things some would do. Some looked so serious, as if their whole lives depende don it. A few even began speaking to the hat.

After a while, the time finally came for the list to reach his name. Clicking his fingers, Wiremu stood and walked bravely over to the stage. Jumping up, he grinned calmly as the hat was lowered onto his head. He wasn't too fussed about the houses, but he just hoped that he'd enjoy whichever one he was sorted into.

"There's no doubt in my mind about you. You could only belong in GRYFFINDOR!"
