Minoas never felt so thrilled in his life before. After a day-long trip with a steam-engine in New Zealand's countryside, he was now in a small boat with three more excited first years, crossing the dark void of a vast lake. The small boats were heading towards the magnificence of an enormous stone castle. The darkness was so thick that Minoas couldn't distinct any deatails of it. Lights coming out of the castle's windows were bouncing off the lakes surface. Unlike one of his fellow passenger, he didn't find weird the fact that the boat knew their destination as it was cutting through the water like a swift arrow.

A shiver strucked his spine as the boat gently hit the shore. The unsorted students headed towards the castle's gates that opened widely, welcoming them. The sounds of their footsteps echoed against the walls that were covered with portraits which owners gathered to greet them. Minoas started wondering where there could be any hidden passages, covered by those portraits when someone came and welcomed them. After a few minutes of pending the professor lead the way into a huge dinning hall. Four rows of tables were placed in the center of the hall and thousand lit candles were hovering above their heads and the heads of the older students that turned to see their group that just entered. The professor signaled them to stop in front of another long table were their future professors were waiting for the ceremony to begin.

"Welcome to you new home" he thought and sighed as he looked around, admiring every inch of the place. His grey eyes were filled with the brightness emitted from the levitated candles and his excitement of what was next. He was so occupied, observing the place that he didn't realised that the rest of his group was looking at something in particular. Puzzled he tried to find out what was so interesting that everyone had turned their attention on. He spotted a shabby witch-hat placed on a wooden stool. Then suddenly the hat started talking. Or singing. Minoas watched it, wide-eyed without really listening to what it was saying. In just a short time in that castle and he had already witnessed spectacular things. His attention shifted from the old hat to the ceiling. He almost left a gasp as he could see the starry night sky flying over him.

And then names were called alphabetically. Minoas wondered what they were supposed to do. He regretted that he didn't listen closely at the hat while it was talking. He might had missed something. Maybe they had to answer a riddle that the hat would ask them. He watched carefully as the first unsorted student was called. The little girl sat on the stool and the professor placed the old hat on her head. The hat started murmuring something but Minoas couldn't hear it clearly. Then it shouted "Ravenclaw".
"Ravenclaw?" he wondered clueless. He watched as the girl, made her way relieved towards one of the four tables. As more students got through that process, Minoas realised that there were four different teams. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff. He hadn't any idea however, which were the qualities that were determining which team was suitable for each student.

He was looking forward for his turn as more and more students were sorted. He was looking forward to be sorted too and learn more things about his team. When his name was called he felt his heart leaping. Determined stepped out of the crowd and went for the stool. He sat down and the professor placed the hat on his head. He started tapping softly his right foot on the floor as he was growing impatient and curious.

"Another one who completely ignored my song. Well, perhaps I'll just have to serenade a smaller, more appreciative, audience next year. If you'd listened, you'd know the houses quite well. I suppose you'll be learning about one from the inside of it, though. Your sense of adventure most definitely has you as a GRYFFINDOR!"

Iris entered the hall with all the other children her age. As she entered she involuntarily took an intake of breathe the room was enormous and absolutely magnificent, she couldn't believe her eyes or her luck that she had a magical ability that had allowed her to be here. Iris wondered what sites the rest of the school had to offer and if they were all as beautiful as this one. She also couldn't wait for her lessons to start so she could learn all the wonderful things magic had to offer her.

Then she heard a voice, a singing voice that dragged her from her thoughts. Iris looked around for the source of the voice and found that it appeared to be coming from the hat at the front of the great hall which was on top of a stool. A talking hat! How wonderful! she thought before listening intently to his...or her song as after all the hat could be of either gender. From hearing the song she decided that she wasn't sure if she'd be suited for Gryffindor and didn't like the sound of Slytherin at all. However Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw would suit her just fine.

She waited as her fellow students were called up alphabetically to be sorted into their suited house. Eventually her name was called and she was happy that her first name was higher up the alphabet than her brothers so she would be sorted first. This was something he couldn't cheat at to beat her:

Lovell, Iris

She made her way up to the stool and picked the hat up before taking a seat and placing the hat gently on her head. Hello hat, i hope you can hear my thoughts. I thought your song was brilliant by the way. I don't know about being brave and strong for Gryffindor, although if that's where you choose to put me i will try my very best. I'd rather not be in Slytherin though because although i love the water i don't think i'm a powerful person or very cunning. I work hard for Hufflepuff and i'm creative for Ravenclaw so i can't decide which i'd prefer. I'm sure you'll make the right choice though, you seem like a very clever hat. After voicing her thought's to the hat upon her head she waited patiently to hear it's choice of house for her.

"Your desire to learn tells me you'll do quite well in RAVENCLAW!"

<SIZE size="50">Leaving his family had been pretty much one of the most difficult things for the boy to do. Despite spending very little time with his parents, since he had school, and they encouraged him to go out, there was not one part of him that didn't think that he wouldn't miss them. They were the people in his life that helped him. Obviously they did think that going to a school like HOgwarts was very important and this was why they were sending him to the school, but Sidney worried for his brothers. He was leaving them alone and finally going on his very own adventure. Leaving them behind, when all he really wanted to do was bring them into the world he was becoming a part of. Obviously they would part of it in time, but would his relationship be as good, or would this early divide set him apart from his family. The distant son, who just saw the others at the holidays, and never for very long. He loved his family, all the members, even his annoying brothers who followed him everywhere. Cassidy, who wanted to take in the entire world in a glance and Jeremy who everyone knew would eventually break hearts, and the new twins, little Sebastian and Jordan. Overall, despite his joy leaving his family behind was a big step, and one he'd hoped he would actually have to make. But now that it was here, now that he'd taken the train ride, there was exchanging it, there was no turning back, he was there for the long haul. He would stick it out. And this was his adventure, he was ready to live it out.

Like in most of the fantasy worlds, there needed to be a physical journey to the place itself. For this one, Sidney was ready for the long train ride. He spent the entire time staring out the window, imagining how the next seven year would go. If he would fall in love, if he would break hearts or have his broken. What friends he would make, who would pick on him, and the most important question for him, was which house. he'd spent the better part of the journey internally debating about how he would be suited for each house. The house he had out ruled was Ravenclaw, he knew he was a lot of things, but he didn't think he was smart enough for a house like that, the only trait he shared with them was a love of books. Hufflepuff seemed like a good place, he was loyal and friendly. Gryffindor too, he was fairly brave in all his worlds, in every situation, but then his fantasy self was a little braver than he really was. He was brave for his brothers, but that was really all. And then Slytherin. While most would exclude him from Slytherin by his clothes and hair alone, the eldest Carver thought he had some definite traits of Slytherin he liked being alone sometimes more than he enjoy being with friends. He was quiet and stuck to himself, and he did try to be the best. In his world, being the best was the only option. It had lead to him not really knowing where he was going to end up and being pretty certain that the school hat would be able to decide.

Following the rest of the crowd in the great hall, he was pretty awed by the site, but knew his mind could come up with better. It was why, he wanted to visit all the magical schools, Beauxbatons espeically, he'd heard a palace, and palaces were cool places. He knew his name would be fairly early on. Glad he had his mother's name and not his fathers name. Or else, it would be a different story. Carver or Marcus. Sidney had the name of both his parents technically, but his father's second name, acted like a middle name rather than a surname. Something that Sidney didn't mind. His parents had explained that while they were together and had been for many years, marriage was not something they could afford, and didn't want to do. Which he didn't care about his parents were young, his parents had been young when they'd Sidney, he knew eventually they might tie the knot, but he didn't mind. They could do what they want. Suddenly, he was aware that he'd zoned out of what was really happening in the hall, and that names, were beginning to be read. Sidney looked to the front and waited. He would be one of the first. That was for sure.

"Carver, Sidney Marcus"

Upon hearing, his full name, Sidney walked up to the stool and sat down upon it. He was taking very deep breaths, but unlike all other days, he was in reality and reality was good enough that the fantasy worlds he created and made himself a part of were not needed. This in front of him was what he needed his very own, real adventure. He also thought it would be good to let the hat be able to go through his mind without the worlds blocking his path. Sidney had a smile on his face, as he waited for the decision to be made.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Regan entered the hall surrounded by kids his own age, he heard muttering about houses and other such school and magic related topics. At least he thought that was what they were on about. Really Regan had no clue whatsoever about this place other than that this was a school that taught children with a magical ability. As time went by Regan had become more curious about this place but he hadn't even been able to ask any of his friends for their opinion because they weren't going to believe him if he said he had been accepted into a school of magic, he'd be laughed at. But either way he had had to leave them all behind and he sure hoped this wasn't some elaborate joke.

Taking notice of his surroundings he saw that it was quite an extraordinary place and he began to wonder what the rest of the place was like. As he looked around at all the teachers and pupils in the room and the sheer size and decor of the place it seemed less and less likely to be a joke. This comforted him and put most of his anxiety to rest. He continued making his way further into the room till everyone came to a stop near the front.

On a stool rested a hat, and to the boys surprise the hat started to sing. It sang a song which he guessed explained the houses which he had heard people muttering about. He thought about which of the traits was most like himself and thought that his sister would probably be something like Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, then thought of where he might end up. Gryffindor definitely sounded like fun. Maybe he'd like to be there, but really he had no idea where he wanted to be or really what much of any of this meant.

After the song had been sung one by one the group of eleven year olds were sorted in alphabetical order. It took a long time and Regan began to grow impatient. Eventually it got to L, and then to his sister. He wasn't sure whether to be glad or annoyed that she was sorted before him. He watched her and just by looking at her face as she sat under the hat he knew she had her head in clouds again. Just after her Regan's name was called:

Lovell, Regan

Confidently he made his way over to the hat, picking it up and sitting down on the stool before plonking it on his head. You probably can't hear my because...well you're a hat but i just thought i'd say hello as that is what is the polite thing to do and to say that even though you will have a lot more experience than myself at this whole sorting thing but Gryffindor does sound like a lot of fun, he thought feeling a little stupid as he waited for the hats answer.

"If I was just a hat, how foolish would it be for me to sort you? If you want to learn about magic, you'll have to appreciate it - and I don't think there's any better place to appreciate magic than in SLYTHERIN!"

Astrid was almost shaking with excitement as she watched the other students go up one by one and get sorted. She couldn't wait for her chance to go up and be sorted. This was a huge thing for her. She knew she had the chance of being a witch, her mother had been apparently, but her father didn't know how it worked. She was so happy when it turned out she was. It was a chance to be a better person and accomplish more in her future. Astrid was almost lost in thoughts of making the world a better place when her names was called.</COLOR>
McElroy, Astrid
<COLOR color="#000">

Astrid snapped out of it and made her way through the crowd of remaining students to be sorted and sat on the stool. She couldn't keep the grin from exploding on her face as she sat down and it stayed there as the hat spoke to her and told her which house she had the privilege of being in for the next seven years of her life. This house would probably determine who she would become in life, who she would be friends with, who she would dislike. The hat had a lot of responsibility.

"Undoubtedly a HUFFLEPUFF!"

It was finally time, as the young pig-tailed girl bounced with excitement. This was going to be her home for the next seven years. Seven years was a long time to stay in one place. Briefly Ember wondered if she would get bored staying at one place so long, but the young girl pushed the thought out of her mind as the Great Hall doors opened. "Amazing" The young girl said. Her words were lost in the mist of other students gasping and pointing at their surroundings.

The room went silent, however, as a professor began her speech and the hat began his song. Ember hummed along to the sorting hat's words even though she was off plenty of times (not know the song at all). Finally the names were beginning to be called. Starting in alphabetically order. Ziarre. Why on earth is my last name Ziarre She thought turning to the boy next to her who she hadn't met yet. "Don't you think it should go in reverse alphabetically order. Starting with Z" she said smiling and turning back to the mixture of students being sorted.

Students after students were put into their houses while Ember waited rather impatiently. She was not the most patient little girl in the world. It seemed like eternity before it was here turn. Yet when it was she forgot all about how long she had to wait and almost ran up to the sorting hat, sitting on the stool provided. The hat was immediately placed on her head and she giggled. So much for never sharing hats She thought thinking of all the times that her mother had warned her not to share hats. You never know where that person's head has been. She would say. Ember would always reply a little smartly with on their shoulders. With that she was always sent out to play outside. Yet this was not the time and place for that memory.

So Mr. Sorting Hat. She thought pausing as she realized she didn't quite know what to say. I would like to be sorted into a house. Any house. Papa wants Ravenclaw. Mum wants Gryffindor. I'm good with either or any I guess. I'm not really sure. As long as where I live is cool. Like outside or at the bottom of the lake or in a huge tower or maybe in the dark basements that I need a flashlight to get around with Ember thought her excitement growing. Thoughts of different houses and common rooms in different areas and all the places she would visit and all the things she would do rushed into her head. Hopefully it was not too many thoughts for such an old sorting hat.

"Can't keep a secret, hmmm? Well, that'll cause you far more trouble than it's worth if you sneak about as much as you might be inclined to. We'll see how it works out for you, then. GRYFFINDOR!"

So many people. So many people. The time she had spent in Dunedin with her father simply hadn't prepared Aisling for this. It was like a whole village of it's own. Aisling's tall frame allowed her to see over the heads of most of the other first years (How MANY there were!) to the tables, positively filled with students of all ages. It was a truly dizzying prospect - most of the villages Aisling had stayed in over the last few years were this size or smaller. Eyes agape, she was so enthralled looking around the chamber that she almost missed her name being called. Following instructions, she shuffled through the other kids to get to the stool, sitting down and suddenly feeling impossibly small as she gazed out at the sea of faces locked on her. The hat nearly reached her eyes, but she peered out, looking up anxiously at the tables, hoping this would be over with fast, so she could hide.

"You should do well in SLYTHERIN!"

Rohan smiled eerily as students were called to the front of the great hall to be sorted. This was an interesting moment in Rohan's life, and he wasn't particularily looking forward to it, as his boring self lead him to feel, but nonetheless he was slightly excited. The student's names were getting closer and closer to his, and he fidgeted a little on his seat, wanting to be sorted now. Suddenly the thought of being put in Slytherin seemed extremely tempting, and Rohan peered over to the Slytherin table where three of his friends sat, looking back at him. He didn't smile, instead, the corner of his mouth turned up a little, and he smirked. He was definately going to make his sorting a day to remember.

'Kearsley, Rohan'.

He stood up slowly, and then sauntered down the great hall to the sorting chair, sitting in it without a care in the world. But he knew that wherever he was put, he'd strive to get his goals, whatever they may be. When the sorting hat was placed on his head, Rohan tried to look up at it. So, you'll definately put me in the right house? He thought to himself slowly, unaware that the sorting hat could read his thoughts. It had better not be in stinkin' Hufflepuff, he added to himself crudely as he awaited the sorting hat's decision.

"Stinkin' Hufflepuff? You know, stinkin' Hufflepuff helped your house's founder found the whole school and was one of the greatest witches of her age. Perhaps you've forgotten such things. Regardless, brush up on your history in SLYTHERIN!"

Walking with the rest of the students, Loki sat down at one of the random tables, hoping that the people he sits next to won't disturb him. As he sat down, he looked around at the scenery of the giant hall. He didn't take much time to scope out the students that could possibly be friends, instead he watched the staff, wondering which teachers will be his. As names began to be called, Loki waited patiently for his. Finally, his name came, and he stood up confidently, almost striding over to the stool. While walking down the aisle, his thoughts were in a jumble. Should he follow as he parents say and hope for Slytherin? Or should he go his own way, and see how it works out? Taking a deep breath, he sat down on the stool as the hat loomed over his head. Crossing his legs, he made up his mind, thinking one single word, "Slytherin."

"SLYTHERIN, indeed."

Katie twirled a lock of hair nervously around her finger. It was a day she had looked forward to from the moment she had discovered the magic that ran through her families veins, still she couldn't deny that she approached the day with a note of apprehension. Hiding behind her hair she glanced quickly around her eyes not landing on anything for more than a second. At a glance the young girl could have easily passed of as almost paranoid but she was actually searching quickly for her cousin the one person she actually knew in the whole castle. Her eyes found her in the crowd of Ravenclaws and she smiled at her, willing her to look up and meet her gaze. When she didn't Katie sighed and turned to the front of the hall. She waited impatiently as the names of her fellow students were called alphabetically, 'My last name had to start with 's'' she thought.

"Swan, Katie."

She hardly registered that her name had been called until there was a pregnant pause when no one moved. Shaking herself from her riviere she made her way slowly to the three legged stool in front of her. Sinking onto it she felt the hat touch her head. Squeezing her eyes shut she let her frenzied thoughts calm, "Let us just get this over with please? I just want to start school and get this public embarrasment of sitting awkwardly over as soon as possible. I won't ask anything more of you if you just tell me where I belong quickly." she thought hugging her torso protectively.[/i]

"Public embarrassment? There's a room full of people, all knowing absolutely nothing about you and desiring for you to turn up in their house. They don't know you at all and want you to be with them in their house and as soon as I call where you belong there were surely be an eruption of applause. I fail to see what's embarrassing about that at all. Just watch: HUFFLEPUFF!"

Judas didn't seem to be a bottle of nerves like his fellow first years to be. In fact for the situation at hand he seemed rather calm and collected, unbelievably so. Five of his brothers had gone before him to the sorting hat, in Hogwarts Scotland, not in New Zealand, but Judas assumed it was all the same process, and he had heard the story of the first day of Hogwarts too many times for him to count. It was a magical experience, an unbelieveable one at that, and one that only a select few got to go through. It was the chance of a lifetime, and the eleven year old was going to sieze this chance, make the most of it. He was going to be far greater than his brothers, perhaps even far greater than his father who had just given up teaching Potions at Hogwarts Scotland to take up a position in the Ministry. He was going to be far greater than them all, from the atmosphere of the Great Hall he could just feel it in his bones. He would be great. The young boy repeated it over and over in his head, and one would think it triggered his nerves, but it did nothing of the sort. It only made him want to strive for his goals further. While at Hogwarts, Judas Bergman would become a man.

As this man-to-be entered the Great Hall he was greeted by the magnificent structure he had only read about in books, it was something so amazing to him, that such a place could be created by people, it was much more than what he had seen in the pictures from his father's books, and far greater than any of the five descriptions his brothers had provided. Judas stood back and let his mouth fall into an O shape before he melted into the crowd, but stood strong, he wasn't too sure whether he was to impress the hat before it was placed on his head, so he did anyway, just as a precaution. As he watched the first students be sorted he spotted the first friend he had made in New Zealand, the tiny Lysandra St. James. Be smiled at her and have a little wave, deciding not to go over and talk to her, as he was only eleven the boy did not know much about girls, but his brothers had 'done him a solid' and informed him they were trouble, especially when in large groups, so the tall boy simply nodded his head, if girls really were trouble, his brothers must have been rather weak, as when they were all living at home many of the opposite sex had passed through the halls, and more importantly the doors of his five brothers' bedrooms. Judas dismissed the thought, no distractions, he told himself.

The A's soon passed, and it was his turn. "Bergman, Judas" His name had been pronounced wrongly, which was no surprise, but he assured himself that in seven short years people would know his name, they would respect him. He would do anything and step on anyone to get to the top. He wanted it badly enough, almost too badly for an eleven year old boy. Looking around the hall at all of the students, he could literally smell the sweat dripping from them, the anticipation, the fear. He chose not to feel any of it. Many said the sorting hat held the key to one's future, and many before him had tried to sway the hat with nonsensical jibber jabber, Judas was not going to do that, he knew too well to do something so silly. So he walked slowly up and sat on the three legged stool. Just like I practiced. he said to himself as he sat down, his mother had offered to do a simulation for him the week before he left for Hogwarts, she had placed her pink ruffled hat on his head and he had sat on her sewing stool and cleared his mind completely, she had even sang to him in Dutch with her sweet sweet voice. So as he placed the, not so pink, sorting hat upon his head he did just that. The sorting hat knew everything it needed to know, and would make the right decision, so with his clear mind he sat and awaited it's decision.

"Not so pink, indeed. I do suppose, if you could sit through that then this is nothing. Now, where to sort you. You could do well in Ravenclaw, you do love to learn - but no, you should certainly be a SLYTHERIN!"

Zhenzhen walk along with the rush of first years waiting to be sorting. Almost all of them were pretty excited about sorting. Some jumping up and down on their toes, while others tried so hard to get in front of the other. She insist on staying in the back of the line for she knew it be pointless to move up front. Both her last and first name were last an the alphabet, that she could remember. If it weren't for the index card she had clutch in her hand, she probably would've forgotten her first name. Thankfully it wasn't one of those days when her mind went completely blank. It was functioning well like rats on wheels, she could remember just about everything that happen that morning too, but just in case she was also holding the acceptance letter. In the letter in scripture it pretty much told her everything she needed to know. If she lost her memories all of a sudden she would count of the parchment and index cards.

While others were called and Zhen waited to be called, she played with the flash card in hand. The line was moving up eventually her name was called out from the headmistress up front. She took time to move along the groups of unsorted, shoving a boy out of her way before they called out the next one, Zhen shouted; "Here I am !"she climb the step to where the stool waited for her to be seated. The girl plant herself down, her eyes roam the halls, the many faces stared back at the airy and confusing looking girl. She hinted a smile so content in herself for remembering why she was here, that hat will fall and she knew by than she be in a house best suited for students like herself.

"You have a lot to learn - especially about yourself. What better place to learn it than in HUFFLEPUFF"

Muzy entered the Great Hall, and fell in love with it instantly. It had flying candles, and everything was neat, and the chairs were amazing. There were lots of other students looking around, also seeing that it was definitely 'great'. There was a few chairs with what he was guessing, professors, in them. He walked up to the front with the other students, and names were called for sorting, and they were in alphabetical order. Soon enough, it got to the Js, and Muzy was up for sorting. He walked up and the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. He was very nervous about his result. "Please, hat, give me Ravenclaw, I want to be with other smart students!"

"As you wish. RAVENCLAW!"

Persephone stood at the other side of the big oak doors leading at the Great Hall, it was the exact thing what her mother, Hera, told her as well as her twin older brothers. The thing is, her family all graduated from Scotland and not New Zealand but she took the chance to be halfway around the world from her family. As the two big doors opened, it reviel four long tables, with four house colors on each students on each tables; There where red, green, yellow and blue. But as they walk towards a lady with a scroll in hand and a stool and an old hat on her side, everybody went into silent and the group of students including her stop in front of the said lady. Persephone looked from the lady and into the hat that laid silent in the stool, it was the hat that will choose her house mentioned by her brother Deimos that made him become a Slytherin as well as Phobos and the rest of the Kratos family.

As the lady called one by one and in last name alphabetically, Persephone was just staring at the hat as it speak and shout of her fellow student's houses. It was then her turn to be judge, she doesn't care where she is put in nor she cared about what the hat says to her family history. Persephone walked gracefully toward the stool and sat on it, the hat was then put to her head. The young girl crossed her fingers, she wanted to break the family tradition on being in Slytherin; nevertheless, she doesn't care. Not Slytherin, anything but Slytherin She thought to herself while pursing her lips, waiting for the hat to speak, I know I should be the one picking what house I want but I really don't know what I am, I have the mixed traits of being a Gryffindor, Ravenclas, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Its up to you now, Mr. Hat Persephone took a deep breath and silently said, "This is it!"

"Well, fortunately for you, I don't see much Slytherin in you at all. In fact, I think you'll do quite well in RAVENCLAW!"

At the great hall, all the first years look so stern, especially Purple. She will be sorted in front of Hermione Granger, a relative of her. She knew she could not fail her expectations, and she badly hopes to be like her.

And at last, her name was called. As she walks fidgety down the aisle, she took a glace at Hermione who gave an assuring nod. That made her confident. And soon as she reached the sorting hat, she took it with her trembling hands, took a seat, and placed the hat on her head with a sigh....

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Selena walked up to the front of the Great Hall with the rest, she looked around and rolled her eyes at the typical surroundings. As the first name was called up to be sorted, smiling at the person she whispered "good luck". She knew that her name is likely to be one of the last to be called up anyway. Putting on her usual masked face, she faked a smile at everyone that walked pass. Annoying and troublesome she thought. "Znise, Selena." she looked up at the sorting hat as her name was called and walked up to it. She sat down, smiling at everyone as the hat was lowered on her head. Grandmother, it's my turn to be in control now, the same old life, servants to only saying yes miss, no miss, and my favorite, your grandmother does not want you to be late. jeez, what a boring life huh, I chose the only school you hated grandmother, now watch out or I don't know what i might do with a wand she though as a smirk creeped onto her face. "Mr hat sir, it is a pleasure to meet you, but please can you get this over and done with?" you can't control me here grandmother

Straightening his clothes, Dylan walk into the Great hall with everyone else, and smiled. well, this place is much better than that Japanese looking house i live in, he thought. He put on a charming fake smile and waited for his name to be called. "McMullin, Dylan." staring at it a while, he walked confidently over and sat down as the hat was lowered. I'm always forced below my brothers, it didn't matter when, it was like a stupid rule. Turned out well when i controlled myself, but now it's my turn to show them, don't mess with me, he though. "If you please Sorting Hat sir." he said smiling, waiting to be sorted, after all, he's no one will be able to stop him once he's sorted.

"Slytherin!"

As soon as Adele got in the Great Hall, she had a very big smile on her face. She looked around the hall and saw all the unsorted students waiting to be sorted. After that, she stood there on a tiny corner thinking about the sorting hat's decision for her, when suddenly her name was called. Just as soon as she was going to be sorted, she thought of how thankful she was that she is already going to be sorted.

"Your love of nature and easygoing attitude place you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sasha shifted her weight from one foot to the other. Nervously chewing her hair she looked at the kid who was on the stool now. They were at 'D' now. Soon it would be her turn to go up there. She knew that her house would be like her family. She just hoped that her family would be one she liked! Then she heard her name being called out. "Eaton, Sasha" Boomed out a lady who had a disticntly stern appearance. Knees shaking, she walked up to the stool and sat down. It was almost time. The hat closed over her eyes so she couldn't catch a gglimps of her fellow students. "Please let me be in a nice house." she whispered before closing her own eyes.

"They're all nice houses for the right people. For you, the nicest house is RAVENCLAW!"

Imogen shrunk momentarily as she saw the sheer size of the hall before regaining herself and her confidence looking around at everyone who's mouths hung open in awe. Dumbledore stood his frail looking body producing a shockingly strong voice "May the sorting commence" and took his seat before the eagle like teacher who had lead them in Professor Minerva McGonagall i believe her name was produced a scroll from her robes, the sorting went in a blur, until her name was called that is "Robinson,Imogen" her heartbeat accelerated her mouth become dry and time went sickeningly slow, standing tall she made her way to the stall feeling all eyes upon her...

"Gryffindor."

You should read our Site Documentation - which makes the plot and rules of this website quite clear.
For instance, this is a branch of Hogwarts in New Zealand set after the epilogue of the final Harry Potter novel. Professor McGonagall has never worked here. Dumbledore is long dead. Etc.

Erin clutched a book in her arms as she trailed the other students up to the front of the Great Hall. It was a muggle novel, The Secret Garden, and she just didn't have the heart to put it down when they got off the train. The book was her security blanket, her protection from the stares of the other students as they watched the unsorted students ascend into the hall. Erin grew more nervous with each step, her heart rate increasing in a rushed frenzy. When she finally stopped, behind the rest of her unsorted classmates, Erin chose to stare at her feet and ignore the mindless chatter occurring around her. There would be time for introductions later, for now she just had to get through sorting. If she survived this, she could survive anything.

"Johnson, Erin." The girl gulped, squeezing the novel closer to her body. "You can do this...you'll survive." She muttered, before shyly pushing her way through the crowd of students and towards the hat. The girl quietly set her book next to the three-legged stool and cautiously took a seat. The hat was lowered onto her head, as if to signify her doom.

"Hello?"

"Hello, indeed. But now it's goodbye for us - and you should say hello to your housemates in RAVENCLAW!"

Matthew walked into the great hall. "Woah," Nick quickly walked over to the other first years. He could believe where he was standing. He'd heard stories from his mother, but it was a completely new experience to be there in person. Matt was not paying attention to the other first years who's names were being called, but was looking curiously around the room. Every once in awhile, Matt would hear the Words, "Slytherin!" "Ravenclaw!" "Hufflepuff!" "Griffindor!" Startled, he heard his name called, "Narco, Matthew" Matthew calmly walked over to the stool and sat down. Everyone was staring at him, just blinking and whispering to one another. Matt began to think to himself, Please, any house but slytherin.

"I don't see this grand problem with Slytherin, but fortunately for you you're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Erin followed the rest of the students up to the front of the Great Hall, staring eagerly around at everything she passed. She had never seen anything like it, being muggleborn and all. Names began to be called, and she bounced eagerly on her toes. Her name was at the end, and by the time it got there she had her hands clenched together, trying not to fidget too much. Finally she heard, "Walsh, Erin." She almost bolted up to the stool, but caught herself and walked quickly instead. She sat down and shot the rest of the great hall a beaming grin before the sorting hat fell over her eyes. "Alright Mr. Hat, let's do this thing!"

"Yes, let's. Although I'm not so sure what you think we'll be doing. I do most of the work, don't I? You just sit there and try to look as respectable as you can in front of your equally petrified peers.... GRYFFINDOR!"

Jacob entered the Grand Hall and walked up to the front with the rest of the accepted students. He was anxious to know what the sorting hat would choose for him, hoping it would be Gryffindor like his father wanted. When it came to be Jacob's turn, he tightened his fists and prepared to hear what the sorting hat said.

"Sometimes family traditions aren't as important as they seem. This is one of those times. HUFFLEPUFF!"

Rebecca was very excited to be at Hogwarts. She knew a little about what would happen because her brother Paul had talked to her about it. There was supposed to be some kind of test to see what house you were in. He had said it involved some kind of hat and she wondered what they would have to do. She followed the group of kids and listened as the lady up front spoke. Rebecca got interested when she talked about a forbidden forest, that was right up her alley. A place that she could explore and it was against the rules too, but it made her wonder why it was forbidden. Rebecca saw what she assumed must have been the hat sitting on a stool, she wondered again what the test would be but her mouth fell open when it began to sing. She had not expected this. Realizing her mouth was open she quickly snapped it shut and looked around to make sure she wasn't imagining the singing hat. She wasn't. Soon after the song kids were called up to sit on the stool to be sorted by the sorting hat. Rebecca was glad that her name was pretty high up she didn't want to be one of the last ones sorted. It wasn't long before she heard her name.

"Gemstone, Rebecca"

She made her way up to the stool pushing her way through the crowd of kids waiting to be sorted and sat on the stool. She felt the hat fall on top her head and it came almost all the way to her eyes. She adjusted it so she could see and her eyes scanned the tables looking for Paul, she saw him and smiled. 'I want to be in Slytherin just like my big brother. I will be very upset if you don't put me in Slytherin.' She closed her eye's and smirked a little she didn't know if the hat could here her thoughts or not but if it could it would know not to upset Rebecca Gemstone.

"Very upset, hmmm? Surprisingly, you won't embarrass me any if you throw a tantrum for the school because you didn't get a house you wanted. Luckily (for the sake of your reputation) you won't have need to be upset today. SLYTHERIN!"
