Seventh Years: Lesson Three

Professor Kalif Styx absolutely hated this part of Transfiguration, but alas, it had to be done. He used his wand to transfigure the normal desks to a vanity table, with a tall mirror on the front. Each student had one to themselves. This was pointless to him, but it was part of the curriculum. He thought the same about some of Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts. Once the seventh years entered, he gestured for them to take a seat as he stood at the front of the classroom. He gestured with his hand to bring down some of the lights to simulate a lighted mirror. They would need the light to see what they were doing. "You will have to stare at yourself, and I hope you have a sense of humor because of the next spell that you will be learning."

Styx knew that his wife would change her own ears, but he decided on something a little different. "Today, you will be working on human transfiguration. This is not to be confused with the process to become an animagus. This spell is restricted to transfiguring your ears into something else. However, allow me to give you a warning. It is illegal to perform this spell who is not expecting it. You might find it as a cute prank, but push some boundaries and you'll end up in Azkaban. Use them only on yourself, or others with their consent." Styx allowed this to sink in before he looked over the class to see who was paying attention.

"Now, raise your hand if you would like to earn some house points and come up here for a demonstration." Not many would volunteer for this, so he saw the first hand raised, and he gestured toward them with his hand as he used the other to take out his wand. "You, come up to the front." Once the student came up to the front, Styx said, "Face the class now. Everyone else, pay attention. The spell is Auris. The standard three tap method will be used. Eventually, you may use this nonverbally, but for now, use it verbally. Observe." He used the three tap method above the student's head and intoned, "Auris." The ears were soon turned into a pair of rabbit ears. He tapped again and changed them to a pair of car ears silently, and then untransfigured them to normal.

Styx put his wand away for now, and motioned for the student to take their seat once more. "To reverse this process is untransfiguration that you have learned the last lesson. It does not matter what animal ears you choose, but you must do so three times, and restore them to normal before you may leave. If something goes wrong, I will be around to correct your mistake. Begin." Styx stood where he was, and would move if the students needed his help. Once the first student was done, he stated, "Once you are done, you may leave. The rest of the year will be nothing but revision."
Assignment: RP the lesson. First student can come to the front to earn an extra 10 house points for the demonstration.

Emmanuel knew that the halloween celebration at Hogwarts, this one coming was going to be his last halloween celebration, as much as he enjoyed it while at school, he didn’t think it was a celebration that was that worth him going out of his way for when he graduated. So of course he was planning to make the most of it. Emmanuel just knew he had to get through this week, and then he’d be able to focus on it a little and then be able to enjoy himself at it. He had a plan for a costume and was looking forward to being able to do it. Emmanuel grabbed the last bits and pieces that he needed before heading to the class.

Emmanuel walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He glanced towards the professor at the front of the room as the man got started on what they would be doing. They would be doing some human transfigurations which he was always eager to do and then when the offer of earning some house points was made, he raised his hand. He walked up to the front when the professor invited him to and then he stood to face the class as the professor then turned his ears from normal to rabbit ears. He gave a smile as it happened, unable to see the changes but able to know that they were actually taking place and then the professor was letting him sit back down. He then immediately got started on doing the spell himself. He pointed his wand at his ears and said. ”Auris,” and then they changed from human to cat. He was able to do it three times, cat to dog to rabbit and then he turned it back and then the lesson was wrapped up and he was able to pack up and leave the room.

Chaos Zhefarovich II walked into Professor Kalif Styx's Transfiguration classroom with an unusual air of respect. He noticed the vanity tables and the lit mirrors and raised an eyebrow, curious but not dismissive. As Professor Styx explained the lesson, Chaos listened, his usual arrogance subdued. Human transfiguration was not something to take lightly, especially under the watchful eye of someone like Styx. When Styx mentioned the potential consequences of using the spell irresponsibly, Chaos nodded slightly to himself. When Styx asked for volunteers, Chaos considered raising his hand but decided against it. Instead, he watched the demonstration carefully, noting the precise movements and the controlled tone in Styx's voice as he performed the Auris spell. The rabbit ears were a humorous touch, but Chaos's expression remained neutral, focused on the technique rather than the outcome.

As the demonstration ended, Chaos turned to his own mirror, his wand ready. He was methodical, tapping his wand three times above his head as he quietly intoned,
"Auris." His ears transformed into a pair of wolf ears, a choice that suited his personality, fierce, alert, and a little wild. He examined himself in the mirror, satisfied with the result, then quickly restored them to normal. For the final transformation, Chaos chose something a bit more playful, fox ears. He allowed himself a brief smirk at the reflection, then swiftly untransfigured them. Chaos finished the task efficiently, confident in his work but mindful of the professor's presence. He packed up his things and made his way to the door. He left the classroom, his mind already considering what else the year might have in store.

Rory wasn’t exactly thrilled to be staring at himself in a mirror for a prolonged period of time, but he couldn't help but find some humour in the concept of the lesson. Human transfiguration was a bit ridiculous, but it was also fascinating in a weird way. As he listened to Professor Styx explain the spell, Rory couldn't help but smirk at the absurdity of turning his ears into various animals'. He watched the demonstration carefully, taking note of the professor's wand movements and the resulting transformation. Rabbit ears, cat ears, this spell had more comedic potential than anything else.

Rory approached his own reflection with a bit of caution, tapping his head and quietly muttering, "Auris." He watched as his ears stretched and transformed into large, floppy dog ears. Stifling a laugh at his own reflection, he quickly tapped again, turning them into pointy fox ears. The third time, he tried something more exotic, bat ears, before finally returning them to normal.

Once he was done, Rory glanced around to see a few of his classmates struggling with their transformations, and a few laughing at the results. The room had an air of playful amusement that was rare in his grandfathers lessons and the man probably didn’t care for it, it lightened the mood significantly. After making sure everything was back to normal, Rory packed up and headed out, chuckling to himself about the absurdity of the lesson.

Lennox felt like she had a rather good handle on most things this year. It certainly helped that she had dropped one class and had given over some power in Quidditch her co-captain. It was enough to have her feeling like she was on top of the world again, where she belonged. The Slytherin girl smiled at this thought as she entered the Transfiguration classroom. She walked confidently to the front row and took her seat as the lesson began moments after.

The professor did not seem pleased today, but was he ever? Lennox listened and watched as the mirrors appeared in front of them. She looked into it with a smile. Boy was she pretty. She adjusted her hair, running her fingers through it before turning her attention back to the professor who was doing a demonstration. A smirk appeared on her face as the student grew rabbit ears. It was fitting.

Lennox did not really want to turn her own ears. She wished she had a partner to attempt it on itself. But the professor had not been so kind. Lennox tried to think of an animal with cute ears. She recalled back in the day, ages and ages ago, muggle used to use a filter to give themselves dog ears. It had been cute if not a really ancient filter. Lennox decided to go with that.

She imagined long floppy dog years like in the old pictures she saw in history books of the muggle world. It had been an embarrassing chapter. The image was clear in her mind. She used her wand with the correct tapping. "Auris" she said. She watched as her ears began to grow. She felt them hit the side of her face. It was certainly just as embarrassing as the old pictures. Lennox was quick to move onto the next step, untransfiguration.

With no incantation, Lennox pictured her own perfect ears. She had the image in her mind as she tapped her wand. Her ears began to shrink back to their perfect size. She examined them in the mirror. That was good. She was back to normal. Of course, Lennox had to continue this process twice more, a total of three times. She was successful.

After a rather long examination of herself and her normal ears, Lennox let out a happy sigh. She was back to normal. No fur or size difference. That was a relief. Lennox packed up her things and left the classroom, still on occasion touching her ears just to be sure.
