Seventh Years: Lesson One

Angel lounged back in his chair, waiting for the class to arrive, swinging his feet from a nearby bench once enough of the class had entered the greenhouse. It was always interesting to note who had made it through the gauntlet of their upper year classes to survive to NEWT levels.

Hey guys, welcome to your first NEWT level herbology class,” he said, rubbing his hands together to get started. Hopefully no one got maimed this year. “By this point I doubt you need to me to impress how important your NEWTs are, or how much work it’ll require, you managed your OWLs and survived last year, so I figure you’re well and truly aware what you’re getting into this year.” Angel could barely remember his own final school year himself, it seemingly having passed in a haze of caffeine and poor life choices, but most of the kids here so far seemed to be the responsible type by the time they hit his classes, thank Merlin, he'd already dealt with enough trouble from younger students in Slytherin to last him a lifetime.

This year’s module is Dangerous Plants II, just like Dangerous Plants I, but twice the danger. It will mostly be a review year, but I’ve still got a few fun surprises for you guys. Most of which are going to require gloves, so don’t get too comfortable,” he said with a sly grin. Hopefully they wouldn’t be seeing any serious maiming this year.

For those of you who might like a chance to read ahead a little, we’ll be covering most of the plants you’ve covered from the previous years, 3 points to any student who can name one?” He said quickly, picking a few student he saw raise a hand at random to answer. “Perfect we'll be covering some of those, along with some new faces like the lovely Mimbulus Mimbletonia and Venomous Tentacula.” Angel checked his pocket watch before snapping it closed, deciding to wrap it up there. “That’ll be all for now, welcome back, I’ll see you guys next class,” he said, flicking the greenhouse door open with a lazy wave of his wand and bidding the students goodbye.

RP an attendance post and check out the Class Policy if you haven't already. Feel free to name any plant you’ve covered Years 1-6 for some house points.

Emmanuel couldn’t quite believe he was in his final semester of school. He had known this was coming, and yet it didn’t feel real or right. He knew and had his place to then do more focused education after, he had Kyon, everything was turning up exactly how he wanted it to. Perfect. It was all perfect. He just now needed to do this last semester and he’d be home free. He was looking forward to being done in the same breath as he knew he’d miss this place. This place had been so good to him. He got the last things he needed for the first day of his last semester and then headed out to the first class of the day.

Emmanuel walked into the herbology greenhouse and took his usual spot in the room. He looked at the professor as the man got started. He took out his quill and parchment as the professor told them they would be focusing on more dangerous plants. He raised his hand to answer the question but wasn’t picked to answer, which he didn’t entirely mind. He then just packed up his things and headed out of the room.

Penelope felt a little melancholy about being back in school for the final time. She couldn't believe she would be graduating in a few short months, it was a terrifying prospect but also an exciting one.

The Hufflepuff girl took her seat in the Herbology greenhouse and smiled at Professor Castillo. She had always liked him, he was funny and kind of charming. He reminded them of the NEWTs coming up, which every professor seemed to do. Then he explained what this module would be about. The name kind of gave it away. Penelope raised her hand. "A Snargaluff." She said, remembering the pods. She noted down what they would cover and then gathered her things when the lesson was over.

Rory couldn’t believe how quickly the holidays had gone and that he was already back at school, now entering his final semester. It had all come around so fast. He made his way into the greenhouse for the first herbology lesson of his last semester and was curious to see what N.E.W.T level herbology was like, even if it was far from one of his favourite subjects. He sat and listened to Professor Castillo as he told they would be learning about dangerous plants again during the lessons that weren’t reviews. He made a couple of notes but as most of the introduction was just that, there wasn’t much to note down. Once the lesson was over he packed everything away and made his way out of the greenhouse.

The first week of the term was always the worst one considering that no one wanted to actually dive headfirst into the material. Chaos Zhefarovich the Second was one of those that was losing his patience. The Gryffindor prefect looked at the time and saw that it was time to leave. He got up from his bed and left the Gryffindor dorms. He was honestly thankful that Kyon Lockwood did not get Head Boy. It was actually someone who deserved it. Chaos himself did not want it. And he was relieved when he did not get it. Havoc wanted him to have the most power, but prefect was enough for a school that did not matter after graduation. After he would leave, then the life he wanted would actually begin. That was just how it was.

Chaos walked in the greenhouse for the final semester of Herbology. He did not really mind plants, but it depended on the plant itself. Professor Castillo greeted the seventh years after he sat down in his seat. This year would be Dangerous Plants II, so twice the danger. He wondered what could be more dangerous than the Devil's Snare, but who knew. He did not bother raising his hand to answer any of the questions because he did not feel the need to. He got up and left the greenhouse once they were free to go. It was an interesting start for the course. Now, to just follow through.

Ethan could feel something shift as the second semester of school began. This was it. The home stretch before graduation. He knew some of his classmates were nervous but he was mostly excited. He liked his time at Hogwarts even though he had personal ups and downs over the years but he didn’t feel particularly sentimental about the school itself. As he took his seat in the greenhouse he pulled out his things to take notes since he still needed to keep his questionable grades up to a decent level. Professor Castillo’s opening comments didn’t really make him feel better but he was quickly distracted as they got into the lesson and went over the types of plants they’d be covering this semester. Thankfully the lesson was short and Ethan packed up his things to leave when they were dismissed.
