Seventh Years: Lesson Four

Professor Kalif Styx rearranged the classroom that would be like this for the seventh years for the remainder of the year. One half of the classroom had the seventh years' desks, and the other half was nothing but an open area with a single table. This was the review part of the year, and Styx was curious to see how they did prior to him. After all, he did not teach their first through fourth years. He had a stack of parchment next to him as he stood in front of the desk. Once the seventh years arrived and settled in, Styx gestured to the door to close it, signaling that class was ready to begin. After all, wasted time was a pet peeve of his.

"Like I said at the beginning of the year, you will be reviewing for half of the semester. Well, this marks the first day that you will be reviewing. The study guides have theories and spells that you have covered over the previous six years." Styx waved his hand to send the study guides over to the students, with each one receiving a copy. "Complete the study guides and turn them in. You may leave the class afterward, or you may practice on that side of the room." Styx turned his head to empathize the empty area. "If the study guide has a spell that you wish to practice, then you may do so until the end of the hour. I'll conjure what is needed for you to practice, should you choose to do so."

Styx folded his arms across his chest, and stated, "Utilize the time wisely. Begin." If anyone chose to practice, he would go over to the table to conjure whatever object or animal needed for the students to practice. After all, he was not going to hold their hand and tell them what to do. They were adults now. They could succeed or fail on their own.
Assignment: RP the lesson. Study Guide is worth 5 EC points.

Year 1 & 2 Study Guide said:
1. What are the seven types of Transfiguration?
2. Name the five areas of Transfiguration that are heavily regulated.
3. What is the spell that changes a spoon to a quill and back again?
4. What spell turns a match to a needle?
5. How would you turn a book into a jewelry box?
6. What are your views on Transfiguration as punishment? What are the Ministry's views? What has replaced this practice?
7. How would you turn a beetle into a button and back?
8. What spell would you use to turn an animal into a statue?
9. What spell turns a tortoise into a teapot?
10. What spell gives life to a inanimate statue, like a chess piece?

Halloween had unsurprisingly gone pretty well. He hadn’t expected it to go terribly, but he had also hadn’t expected to have nearly as much fun as he had. It was different to go with someone to a dance or celebration, but it felt entirely different with Kyon. it had been an enjoyable and great experience for him. He was putting that aside, and focusing now on his classes again, and on the next event which he knew was of even more importance to him given it would be his first proper yuleball with Kyon. but first there were classes and essays to do, so Emmanuel packed up the things he would need for the day and headed to class.

Emmanuel did think it a little disappointing when he got to the transfiguration classroom, knowing that they wouldn’t be doing much more new things. He knew why that was, they’d covered everything necessary and it was now a simple matter of just learning it. Which could at times be difficult. He took his spot in the room and looked towards the professor before they were then told to use their time wisely and then given something to fill out as a guide. He did, so working away until he had an answer for everything and was fairly confident in his answers. He handed it into the professor and left the room.

Chaos Zhefarovich II entered the Transfiguration classroom with his usual composed demeanor, taking in the rearranged space with a discerning eye. The open area intrigued him, though he wasn’t surprised that Professor Styx had designed the lesson this way. Styx wasn’t one for hand-holding, and Chaos appreciated that. As the door closed behind the last student, Chaos focused his attention on Styx, standing at the front of the room. He listened as the professor explained the task for the day, his expression serious. The mention of reviewing the past six years didn’t faze him; he had always been confident in his abilities, especially when it came to Transfiguration. When the study guides floated over to each student, Chaos caught his with ease, quickly scanning the contents. The guide was comprehensive, covering a wide range of spells and theories. He recognized most of it immediately, nothing too challenging, but certainly detailed. After a moment of contemplation, Chaos made his decision. He did not want to practice. He filled out the study guide, and went over it until it was time to leave. He turned it in and left. He was positive that he would have been perfect with it. Anything for the patriarch of his family.

Rory entered the classroom and took his seat, grabbing the study guide as Professor Styx handed them out. After quickly reviewing the questions, Rory got to work, answering each one efficiently but taking his time on the trickier points. Once finished, he moved to the practice area, choosing to review the tortoise-to-teapot spell. He carefully cast the spell, watching the tortoise transform successfully into a teapot. Rory practiced a few more times, perfecting his technique before the hour ended.

Feeling satisfied with his progress, Rory submitted his completed guide and left the classroom, nodding to Professor Styx as he exited.

Lennox entered the Transfiguration classroom. The year was flying by and she honesty did not feel ready to graduate yet. She felt like she was not quite ready to face the world. Or was the world not ready to face her? Lennox certainly enjoyed the second option a bit more. Something not lacking on her part, but something lacking on everyone else's. Definitely made more sense. But now was not the time to think about that. Lennox took her seat in the front row as she began to unpack any supplies she thought she would need today. Basically just her wand.

Yet as the lesson began, Lennox realized she would need a bit of a different direction. They were reviewing. She vaguely remembered the professor mentioning it. That meant this lesson was going to be rather boring, well the rest of the year it seemed. Lennox sighed as she put her wand away and took out her quill and ink. At least she was able to use her rather obscenely large and pink fluffy quill. Lennox dipped her quill into the ink as she looked over the questions on the sheet. Easy enough if not a blast from the past.

Lennox began to fill in the answers to the best of her ability, probably adding a bit more than was needed. She was pleased it did not take long. The Slytherin girl looked over the study guide once more before packing up her things. She was not going to stay around, wasting her time practicing in the classroom. She could do that on her own time. Lennox swung her bag over her shoulder and left the Transfiguration classroom.
