Second Years; Lesson Two

Professor Tobias Blade shifted uncomfortably, adjusting his worn robes—a muted gray today, nothing flashy. Despite the weight of years and his fractured family life, he felt a small flicker of satisfaction seeing the students filing in. His gaze softened ever so slightly as he settled in front of the room. "Morning," he said gruffly but kindly. "Let’s start by reviewing last week’s charm. Anyone want to remind me what it was?" He pointed to a student, who answered hesitantly. "Right. Scourgify. Two points for you." Another voice offered the wand motion, and he gave a rare, tired smile. "Correct. It’s an ‘S’ motion. Another two points for you."

With a flick, the chalk lifted, and Blade wrote the day’s homework on the board. "Alright, here’s what I want from you today. Answer these three questions before you leave. Shouldn’t take long." He read the list aloud: "One—name something with a lock. Two—name something that doesn’t have a lock, but really should. Three—how are you finding Charms so far?"

"You can also use any extra time to practice Scourgify again if you want. I’ll be around if you need help." He sat back at his desk, watching as the students gathered their things, quietly proud of the little progress they made even when life outside the classroom felt messy and fractured.

Homework:

Name something that has a lock.

Name something that does not have a lock, but should.

How are you finding Charms so far?

OOC Notes: Points awarded for first posters answering the questions. Five points for completing homework. Full marks given for study/attendance posts. One point for practicing last week’s spell.

When he finally managed to get to class, after being a little late again, Finley took a seat towards the front and was surprised and a little sad to see that Professor Grayveson still wasn't at the front. He knew and liked her, so he didn't know why she wasn't at the school. Perhaps she was taking a sabbatical? He hoped that was what it was because he liked her and didn't want to think she was no longer in the school. He looked up when the professor asked a question, he put his hand up to answer. "Scourgify," a spell his father was rather fond of honestly. Finley hated it because it always made him sneeze, he felt like all it did was spread dust and bubbles. hat was really all it was good for in his opinion. The lesson ended and he worked on his homework before heading out.

Name something that has a lock. My mother's diary

Name something that does not have a lock, but should. the dorms

How are you finding Charms so far? eh, its okay

Miles was eager to learn some new magic, so was a little disappointed that they wouldn't actually be learning any new spells in that Charms lesson. So, as he slouched back in his seat with a huff, he couldn't help the slight frown as they were given the rather easy task of answering a few questions. And they weren't even hard questions, either, Miles only taking a moment to answer the three of them. And then he sat there for the rest of the lesson practicing Scourgify, which he supposed was still better than having to listen to a lecture or something. Still, he was pleased when the lesson was finally over, tucking his wand away again before leaving the classroom.

Christa took her usual seat in the classroom and waited for the professor to introduce the lesson. She had a vague idea from last week what they would be doing, but sometimes they liked to change things up so she thought it was best she wait until she knew for sure before she started taking notes. She liked taking notes for Sabrina. She practiced the notions and sounding out the pronunciation of the spells. She wasn't entirely sure she was that good at it in all honesty, but she was doing her best. She had so much to learn that she felt like was inherent in most people, well the ones who grew up around magic anyway. She wondered if she would ever get to a point where it just made sense to her? She was still constantly surprised with learning what people could do with magic.

Mania was still unsure what to make of their new Charms professor other than he always looked tire. He looked like he could use one of those naps that the sleeping beauty took, though she doubted even that could be enough for this man. Nia sat down and was eager to answer the Professor's question, only for Finfin to beat her to it. Typical. However she took the opportunity to show the wand movement, "Like this!" She said making a clear 'S' with her wand. Yes she'd paid attention. Mania grinned as Professor Blade gave them three little questions to answer before leaving, it should be easy enough.

Name something that has a lock. The door to my mama's Potion cabinet
Name something that does not have a lock, but should. The door to my room at home. I hate when my sisters come in unannounced.
How are you finding Charms so far? It's alright!
