Sams Birthday

Sam watched Hoshi while she ate. "Well what do you think?" Sam asked, the house elves were more than thrilled to make them for his birthday. They seemed to be rather spriteful in the morning. Sam took one, it had a chocolate covering over it, he put it into his mouth and said once he swallowed. "Damn. Those house elves can cook!" He laughed a little.

Taylor sat on the rug with everyone else and watched the conversation fold out for a while, laughing at appropriate times. Sam then asked if anyone was hungry and Taylor's stomach growled in agreement. She waited though and took one after Hoshi and Sam had taken one. Hers was chocolate with vanilla icing. Taking a bite she swallowed and then announced. "Not wrong!" In answer to Sam's statement. She chuckled lightly, before taking another bite.

Scorpius grinned at Prince and nodded his head once when he said he'd get back to him. He didn't mind whether he went or not, and wondered if he'd take Jenna with him. He shrugged inwardly and his face lit up like a little boy's did when Prince mentioned cake, especially cake that wasn't made by him. He laughed as he joked, "Well that's a relief then pass one over!" He grinned at Prince and winked at him just so that he knew he was joking and knelt on the rug beside Toni and Taylor. The two of them seemed to be the quieter ones of the evening and he found that odd. He smiled at them encouragingly and then took a bite of his cake, mmm-ing in agreement with everyone else as his mouth was full of cake.

Taylor took another bite of her cake, covering her mouth as she took a bite that was a bit too big. She swallowed and looked up at Knight sat next to her, she snorted a laugh and then smiled when her mouth was cake free. "So how has everyone been?" She asked, she hadnt seen Knight in a while and she rarely spoke to Jenna. Plus it was a good silence breaker.

Sam took another bit of cake. It was creamed filled so a large chunk was on his chin. "Whoops!" he laughed while food was in his mouth but he covered his mouth. He wiped it off carefully, before laughing again. "Yes, I'm a slob." he grinned at them.

"I've been good thanks Taylor. These exams though are bugging me but other than that. I've been pretty good. What about yourself?" he said and rested his empty hands on his lap.

Toni couldn't believe that she was actually being the quiet one of the bunch. That was rare when it did happen. Maybe she should try to speak up though with this group of people, some her friends, others not even close, Toni wasn't sure what to say.

When the food was brought into the mix, Toni looked down at the cakes for only a moment before deciding that she really didn't need one. "I'll pass on the food. Not that hungry" She added as she changed how she was sitting to become more comfortable.

Though when Sam claimed that he was a slob, Toni couldn't help but let out a small laugh and a smile. Trying to relax a bit in the company, she relaxed her shoulders. When Sam mentioned exams Toni couldn't help but let out a sigh. "Gosh I haven't even started studying" She managed to say. "Though I may just pass on the studying this year" She added with a shrug. Sure she was going to study. But Toni would rather die then let anyone think she was a bookworm or even that she cared about her grades.

Sam looked up when Toni finally spoke, but she was only refusing his offer on the cakes. Sam folded his arms across his chest. Toni continued by saying she hadn't started. "Thank you!" he said to her, "I thought I was the only one." he laughed a little. He was very laid-back when it came to studying and classes.

Jenna looked around her friends quietly, but when Toni spoke she looked down at the ground quietly. She pulled her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around them tiredly, trying to keep the attention away from herself as much as possible. She would just stay for a little while, sing Sam happy birthday then go back to her dorm room to go lay down and possibly write her parents and brother, she had decided that she would ask them if she could go home for good, she hadn't told Sam yet but she decided that if she was allowed to go home she would tell him and if she wasn't she wouldn't tell him.

Taylor chuckled as Sam said he was a slob. She then mentally slapped herself. "Oh geez exams, i totally forgot, i havnt been studying at all." She then shrugged, knowing she would do a good job anyway, she knew all the stuff quite well.

Taylor looked over at Jenna a bit worried about the girl, she didnt look well, but Taylor didnt know her well enough to ask if she was ok, so she diverted her attention back to Sam and Toni, listening to them talk about exams, while she finished off her cake and then wiped her hands on a napkin.

Hoshi pushed on her nose and stuck out her tongue. "I would blow the whole thing off if Haruhi didn't promise me a ten gallion increase in my allowence if I didn't flunk out right. I've never been very good with school work." She said rolling her eyes. She was happy that she wasn't the only one that blew off her studies from time to tmie. Well they did it from time to time. Hoshi did it all the time. She ate one more cake thinking that the energy wouldn't do her any harm among friends.

Sam shrugged, "Ten extra galleons is pretty sweet." Sam said. "I wish I would get paid to do exams." he laughed a little. People seemed to be quite down which upset him. He usually had such laughs with his friends. He frowned a bit but he shook it off and took a smaller slice of cake.

Taylor grinned at Hoshi, then nodded when Sam said an extra ten galleons was good. "Ill say, my Mum said she would give me five Galleons for each O i get, but i dont know if she will be true to her word." She laughed. She was in a great mood, but she didnt think she could say the same about everyone else. She looked up and noticed that Sam had taken that in aswell. Trying to brighten the mood she exclaimed. "Well does anyone have candles and a cake, or should i just break out in 'Happy Birthday' right now?" She grinned at the group.

Sam appreciated Taylor being here a lot. She seemed to be the life of the party. But when she mentioned the singing he shook his head and put his head in his hands. "Please. Don't sing!" he moaned into his hands. "You don't have to do that." Sam finally looked up. He hated that part of birthdays, especially when it was his.

Hoshi grinned at Taylor and put up her fingers in a count down. "Happy Birthday to you." She said in a sing song voice. It was to tease him of course and she wasn't going to sing it all because it seemed to make him siriosly uncomfortable. Hoshi waited for someone else to sing the next line anyway.

Scorpius was too busy stuffing himself with cake to do much conversation but once he was done with his cake, he wiped his hands and mouth clean. At the mention of exams he groaned and after everyone revealed they hadn't done much studying he sighed in relief. "I haven't done much studying at all, and this is coming from a Ravenclaw," he said cheekily with a grin. The truth was he was so distracted to even pay attention in class anymore, and that had to change soon. He'd put the Ravenclaw House to shame if he was the only one who failed.

He noticed Prince didn't seem to be too happy about the mood of his party so he quickly grinned at Taylor and Hoshi and joined Hoshi with the singing of Happy birthday even though Prince had protested not to. "Happy birthday to you," he continued with a grin.

Jenna smiled when Taylor suggested singing happy birthday to Sam. "Happy Birthday to you!" Jenna sang melodically, she flashed Sam a smile then ruffled his hair playfully, as if apologizing for her bad mood. She then put her hand back on her lap and interlaced her fingers with each other and continued singing with her group of friends for Sammy.

Hoshi laughed, happy that her friends had sang followed her lead. "Happy birthday Dear Sammy." She said them bumped him teasing. "Sorry had to do it. It's a birthday party and it was sort of dead here so..." She trailed off gesturing at everyone else to finish while she was Sam would go bright red. She hoped he wouldn't be mad at her for starting it but the mood of the party seemed to be dragging everyone down.

Sam's cheeks went pink and he scrunched his face while they sang. Once they finished he smiled to each and every one of them, "Its not that I don't like your singing." he paused, "Which is fabulous by the way" he grinned cheekily, "But there really is no need guys." Sam was both embarrassed and touched by the whole song ordeal.

Toni listened as the conversation went on about exams and paying for grades and such. She didn't like being the quiet one at all, but that was what she seemed to be labeled as right now. Wondering if she could get her parents to pay major galleons for good grades. Even a bit of galleons would be helpful since her shopping fund was coming to the last bit. Stupid limit on shopping money Toni thought thinking that her father had no right to tell her how much she could spend each week shopping. It wasn't just her parents money, not in Toni's mind at least.

As the conversation turned to singing happy birthday for Sam, Toni listened but didn't sing. She never sang for anyone except for that one time when she had to sing for Beau. Other than that no music notes or choruses would come out of Toni's mouth. Even if it was just a simple birthday song.

Toni still couldn't help but smile when Sam began to blush even the slightest. "You have to sing at a birthday. It is just one of those awful traditions that never die" Toni said flashing him a small smile. She didn't want him to think that she didnt' want to be here. He was like her best friend. It was just the other company that she didnt' care for, well only really Hoshi and Jenna.

"You're just lucky we didnt' sing to you in the great hall surrounded by loads of people" Toni said teasing slightly. Now that would have been embarrassing. Even Toni wouldnt' do that.

Sam shrugged when Toni said about the tradition, "Well the tradition sucks!" he said stubbornly though he smiled back to her. He knew she didn't sing but it didn't matter, some people just didn't sing for others. He was just glad she was here.

Sam nodded in agreement, "Yes that would be a frightful sight!" he joked, of coarse he didn't mind them singing. The birthday song always just turned out rubbish anyway.

Jenna smiled as she saw Sam blush and try and get them to stop singing but she was quite intent with finishing the song with her friends. When they did she smirked softly, then smiled at Sam, she sighed once more, her mood being picked up slightly, though she wasn't sure if that was just an act or if she was really getting happier, even if it was just for now, she just wanted to forget about the death of her brother.

Taylor grinned and laughed as everyone joined in singing, giggling when Sam began to blush. She slapped his back playfully with a smile. She hoped he was having a good birthday. Sam and Toni began talking about tradition.Taylor picked up another cake and accidently got icing on her fingers. She smirked thinking of something her famliy had always incorporated in birthday traditions. "Well, in my family, we have another tradition." She grinned and swiped an icing coated finger down Sam's nose. Watching his reaction she chuckled. "Although our family isnt as easy, its usually a whole slice of cake in the face." She thought about all the times she had a face full of cake, maybe the one or two times her Mum and Dad had been easier on her when she had gone to extra effort on her hair and makeup.

Sam looked at Taylor as she slapped his back and then got icing on his nose. "I can't believe you did that." Sam said and then tried to get the icing with his tongue, just for the laugh. While he attmepted his impossible task he listened to Taylor talk about what she used to do at home. He instantly saw an opportunity. "Oh you mean like this." he laughed and squashed a cream bun on Taylors face. Feeling satisfied he lay back on the rub and rested his elbows on the wollen rug, so they held him up.

Toni couldn't help but smile when Taylor wiped a bit of icing off on Sam. Though when she continued to talk about how in her family it was usually a whole piece of cake, Toni could almost see what was going to happen next. Why would someone want to shove cake in someone's face. the mess She thought realizing that she would probably flip if anyone in her family ever shoved cake in her face.

Though as Sam actually shoved a cream bun in Taylor's face, Toni couldn't hold back the laughter. She leaned back a bit trying not to laugh too hard. She didn't want to get in the middle of that but still it was rather amusing.

While she was talking, she was completely taken off guard by the cream bum that had collided with her face. She looked down at Sam shocked, with a satisfied look on her face, raising a cheeky eyebrow, she glanced to the cake in her hand. Moving forward a little, she squashed her own cake in Sam's face, then rubbed the back of her hand over the cake smudged in her nose. She laughed at the situation, simply because even though she had cake all over her face, it was all good fun.
