Ravenclaw Quidditch Practice Y51/S1

Hinemoa was pleasantly surprised when Lilith came over to check on her, giving the older girl a grateful smile. "Thanks... I'm alright. Hurts a bit more than the practice bludgers we use at home th-" She was cut off by the sight of her fellow alternate with the snitch clutched in his hand. "Ah damn it, how'd he get that so fast?"

Lilith gave an encouraging nod and a understanding smile to the younger Ravenclaw. She was about to answer when she, too, saw the youngest alternate with a snitch in his hand. Pleasantly surprised Lilith was reminded of her own first catch and cheered for the boy. “Well done!” She called out to him before turning back to Hinemoa. “I am glad you are okay, how about we get back to searching and make sure we get our names on the board too?” The prefect said with a mischievous grin and a wink of her eye before restarting her search.

Letting the snitch go again after a moment, Julio allowed to vanish from sight before he went back to flying around. Now he was in the lead he intended to stay there. If he could beat his fellow alternate and the starting seeker, then that would only prove he belonged on the team.

Making a lap around the pitch Lilith kept her eyes on her surroundings, focusing and willing herself to spot any possible glints, no matter how weak or far, but for now the Snitch was making itself rather elusive.

Julio was riding high from his previous catch, hoping that he would spot the snitch again soon and make it two.

When no one else went for the quaffle, Magne flew forward and grabbed it, intending to do another lap before trying to score again.

Lilith didn’t see the snitch anywhere and she wanted to huff out her frustration but willed herself to stay calm and collected. It was just a snitch, this was just practice, she knew she was good at being a Seeker. She’d proven herself many a time, she just needed to keep looking and trust in herself, but for some reason there being two alternates added a pressure that hadn’t been there before and Lilith felt like she had to prove herself again.

Julio sat back on his broom for a moment, trying to survey where the other two seekers were in the air. At least it appeared as though they hadn't caught the snitch yet, which still meant he was in the lead. Shaking his head, the boy gripped his broom with both hands again and continued back down the pitch. He just hoped the snitch would appear again soon. And he'd be the one to grab it.

Lilith scanned her surroundings when she saw something near the stands, diving towards it she was keen to figure out if it was just a trick of light or actually something worth chasing after.

Cyrus followed Magne in case he wanted to pass the quaffle.

Getting closer to what she had hoped to be the snitch Lili was disappointed but not surprised to find it'd been a pocket mirror someone had left on the stands, one that was now reflecting the sun off of it. With a sigh she turned back towards the other side of the pitch, considering if she should try there.

Julio circled around a few times, desperate to see if he could spot the snitch again. But it remained elusive.

As soon as Magne was close he tossed the ball and was frustrated when he missed entirely.

Maggie had been ecstatic. Her goal from Professor Josephs goal activity was to make the quidditch team, and she had become an official member. Not an alternate who had to tryout again and again, but a true beater. The Ravenclaw heeded Lucy's instructions and quickly got in the air with her bat, watching as things started off rather fast. She tried a few times to catch up with a bludger, but they managed to get out of range. Taking a moment, she took a breath. This was a practice - she didn't have anything to prove, right?

Lilith began to wonder whether Julio had ever even released the snitch. Maybe the first year wanted to keep hold of it just so the rest couldn't catch it because there was no sight of it. Immediately feeling terrible for even considering such a vile thought about one of the alternates, Lili stared down at her broom. She'd never been one to think mean things about others and she was ashamed, she'd do better.

Maggie saw a bludger whizz by her head and went after it, not sure where she was going to hit it when she caught up, but she wasn't going to give up.

At least the other two seekers seemed to be having some trouble finding the snitch again. That did make him feel a little better, though he was still determined to try and find it again. It had to be around somewhere.

The snitch was toying with them, that was it. There was no other explanation, at this rate Lilith would be fully graduated and trained Animagus before she ever caught a sight of that thing. Okay maybe she was being a little over dramatic there.

Maggie tried to swing at the bludger but missed. The ball continued on its haphazard path across the pitch, and Maggie went after it once more.

There was still no sign of the snitch again and Julio huffed, narrowing his eyes as he kept looking. It would turn up eventually. Probably.

Sighing Lilith kept looking for the snitch, she had to find it at some point. She was a good seeker, she had no doubt about the fact, but it the little monster that loved to be elusive never got any less annoying when it was being extra elusive.

Lucy circled the pitch keeping an eye on the other players, thinking about tactics for future matches. It was a little strange having so many Seekers flying around, but if any of the other teams had particularly lucky Beaters, she knew it'd be helpful down the line.

Hinemoa sighed and nodded, trying to take Lilith's encouragement to heart. The practice had barely begun, she'd have plenty of time to catch the snitch. Trying not to think about how if this was a real match she would have just lost to a first year, Hinemoa pulled herself together and resumed the hunt.

Julio thought he saw something shimmering near the stands and darted forward. But stopped when he noticed it was just the sun reflecting off something. With an annoyed huff, he turned his broom around and continued his search.

Maggie caught up with the bludger and managed to make contact for the first time, watching as it hit @Julio Santana after almost missing.
