Ravenclaw,PracticeLucy's first practice as the sole Lucy in charge of this team. The thought had been rattling around her skull all day, sending her nerves skittering and making her jumpy and nervous. This was her last chance to lead the team to victory, and she was the only captain this time around. Everything rested on her shoulders, and she didn't want to make a single mistake. This was going to be Ravenclaw's year, she was sure of it. She greeted the team as they arrived, keeping her smile bright and hoping the nerves didn't show through.

"Alright guys, I'll keep it quick!" She said cheerfully once the team was assembled. "This year we're gonna give everything we've got, and we're gonna walk away with a cup to show for it. I wanna see everyone pushing their absolute best every second of practice and matches. It's been five years since Ravenclaw last won the cup, so it's our turn to bring it home! We're gonna do a pretty straight up and down practice today - Chasers, fly a lap of the pitch before every attempt to score. Maggie, Rosé, we've got plenty of targets to make sure to spread the wealth. Lilith, you've got two understudies looking up to you now, so show them how it's done. Hinemoa, Julio, I want to see you two trying to beat Lili, in a real match seekers are competing for one catch, so get used to harnessing that competitive energy, see who can get the most catches. Vi, you know what you're doing, keep being fab." She grinned at her roommate before returning her attention to the team at large. "Alright, let's do it!" She picked up her broom and secured the goggles over her glasses before blowing the whistle, trying to shake the jitters off as she grabbed her bat and took to the sky.

Her first Quidditch practice... Hinemoa had been picturing this ever since she was a toddler, watching the matches from her mum's lap in the stands. And now here she was, Ravenclaw Quidditch uniform donned proudly. She listened as Lucy gave them their instructions, throwing the older girl a dutiful salute when she got her guidelines and shooting Lilith a grin. A competition - that was something she could get into. When Lucy blew the whistle Hinemoa took off at once and soared into the air, eager to catch the snitch and prove herself to the team.

Rose was happy to be an alternative for another year, and was ready for practise bright and early in the hopes of showing their captain she was even strongee now than she was last year. She didnt think she would hit quite as many people this time as last but she would give it a go. Hopping onto her broom, and grinning at thr second year she'd met at the Ravenclaw meeting, Rose got to work.

Taking to the sky, Lucy took a moment to shake out her nerves. It was fine, everything was fine, and she needed to stop worrying. For better or worse, all anyone could do was their best. She tried to remind herself of that fact as she set off around the pitch, trying to get an angle on a bludger.

Hinemoa knew school snitches were probably tricksier than the practice ones she used at home with Mum and Siobhan, but she was still determined to do her best, circling the pitch in the hopes of catching sight of it first.

Rose couldn't worry about who she would aim for until she found a bludger, so she got to work searching the skies, broom under her arm.

Lili arrived to practice in good spirits, as she settled to listen to what Lucy had to say she nodded along woth everything. At the mention of the two alternate Seekers the prefect shot a glance their way with a smile. As Lucy wrapped up Lili noted the grin Hinemoa gave her and she gave one in return. This ought to be fun. Shooting up into air Lilith began her search immediately.

Theo had finally made it on the front lines of the team. He wasn't an alternate anymore, which Theo was pretty happy about. He listened to what Lucy had to say, nodding along in agreement. It wasn't long before they were up in the air. Theodore managed to get his hands on the quaffle first, taking a lap as he made his way towards the hoops.

Lilith circled around the pitch in search of a glint of gold, if she kept looking she was sure she’d spot something before either of the you get alts had the opportunity, though even then she was looking at the second and first year with a keen eye. She wanted them both to do well.

Julio was more than surprised that he had actually managed to make the team despite being a first year. But, well, here he was and he was determined to give it his best shot. He smiled slightly as he was given his instructions for that practice. Catch the snitch. He could do that, that was his job as a seeker. And so, puffing out a breath, tbe boy hopped on his broom and zipped off. He was going to win this competition and catch the snitch first.

Honing in on a bludger, Lucy made her first swing of the practice, aiming for Lilith. It felt a bit mean to go for the new seekers right away on their first time out. Lucy was glad for the caution as she watched the ball sail through the air and slam right into Lilith, feeling the odd mix of pride in herself and guilt for hitting a friend that always came with it.

Lilith x1

Though she was focused on the snitch, Hinemoa winced at the whiz and smack of a bludger flying into Lilith. It was a stark reminder that there was a target painted on her own back, and Hinemoa pressed closer to her broom, trying to split her focus between looking for the snitch and avoiding incoming bludgers.

After his lap and once he was close enough to the hoops, he threw the quaffle towards the left hoop, cheering as it sailed right through.

Magne grabbed the quaffle when it was tossed out after the new chaser managed to score. Setting off to complete a lap before he'd head to score.

Unfortunately for Lilith, Rose saw the bludger heading her direction way too late. She didn't even have time to get across the pitch. She grimaced as the prefect was hit, hoping to protect her next time.

For a second, Julio was sure he spotted something. But a bludger getting a little too close caused him to duck. And by the time he had looked up again whatever he had seen was gone.

After managing to score, Theo quickly followed the older chaser who had possession of the quaffle.

After his lap and when he got close he tossed the quaffle hard and watched with glee as it sailed through.

Lilith was focused on the glint of gold she’d seen when she was hit out of nowhere. Damn it, she’d been focused on the glint and idea of her first catch. Grunting in pain as she swerved slightly off course, losing sight of glint, Lili held her side gingerly. Glancing towards the Captain she gave the older Ravenclaw a nod and a thumbs up before getting back to her own task. At least it hadn’t been the younger Seekers quite yet.

Lucy was relieved to see Lilith was okay, swerving away from the Seeker and heading after another bludger. She rounded on it and swung, this time aiming for one of the younger alternates. They'd have to learn some time after all, and the quicker they got used to being hit the better. It was a moment after aiming her shot that Lucy realised beating up the Head of House's daughter might be a bad thing, but... well, it was too late, and she winced as she watched the bludger connect with the much younger girl.

((lucys on a rampage watch out))

Hinemoa's best attempt to keep an eye out for bludgers proved to be completely in vain. She noticed the ball was coming for her, sure... just in time to realise she had heard it too late. She did her best to swerve but it wasn't enough to dodge the strike and Hinemoa yelped in pain as the bludger hit her sharply on the shoulder. She winced and rubbed the spot but nodded to the captain when she saw her watching, giving a thumbs up to make sure the older girl knew she wasn't hurt too badly.

Rushing to the younger seeker’s side Lilith scanned the girl for any sign of damage. “You okay? The hits can be quite… hard but you’ll get used to them.” She spoke softly, wanting to check up on the younger ones as well as make sure to encourage them to keep going.

Julio watched as the other the other seeker was also hit by a bludger, but just as she was, something caught his attention. It appeared as though the other two seekers were distracted, so Julio decided to make the most of it as he spotted the snitch fluttering just a little distance away. He grinned, pushing forward on his broom as he zipped forward, left hand reaching forward as he wrapped his fingers around the fluttering golden ball for the first time. And boy did that feel good, a rather smug grin on his face as he waved it clutched in his hand just to make sure everyone saw. He was the one who caught it first, not anyone else.

You snooze, you lose, he supposed.

Theo cheered for Magne as he, too, managed to score a goal. He grabbed the quaffle as it was thrown back to play, doing a lap before making his way towards the hoops.

Lucy made sure Hinemoa was alright before being quickly distracted by the first snitch catch of the practice. She whooped in delight when she saw the ball clutched in Julio's hand, applauding him by clapping against her bat a few times. "KA PAI!*" She called out loudly, pleasantly surprised by the team's youngest member. "Julio's on the board!"

*Ka pai - well done, commonly used across Aotearoa
