October didn't feel entirely ready to be standing where she stood, but it was too late for that now. She was one of the captains, and their team was painfully fresh. October desperately wanted them to get at least some practice in before their first match of the year, so their newer players could get a sense of what it felt like to play in a Quidditch match. Clutching her broom, October mentally ran through all the reading she had done to prepare. She had never had much interest in Quidditch before joining the team, and needed to learn more about how the other positions functioned if she was going to be an effective leader. Reading and experience were two different things though, and October hoped she would be able to put what she had read into practice today. Gripping her broom a little too tightly, she stood with Jackson silently as she waited for the rest of the team to join them on the pitch.

((Arrivals only for now please!))

Simon walked on to the pitch with his sister's broom. he intended to get another broom soon, one specifically for him. The teen looked towards the captains of the team. It was going to be good to actually get to practice. He had been practicing, and he'd tried out but it would be his first really occasion to actually just play. A practice would help him get better at the game overall. He greeted the captains with a smile but he was just ready to get started.

Minnie had her first ever practice, the girl had been very happy that she had managed to get on to the team, even as a second string, she had her broom in hand when she arrived on the pitch. She was very very keen to get started, to show herself as worthy of that position. She wanted nothing more than to show that she was capable. Minnie saw the two captains and someone else on the pitch she greeted the people there with a tight smile, she just wanted to get started and prove that she was worthy of even the second string. She hadn't received a letter back from her parents yet regarding the position and perhaps if she was able to say something good about how the practice had gone, then maybe that would help. She clutched the broom tightly in her hand, and was just hoping to get started.

Zoe couldn't wait for Quidditch this year. She was thrilled to have been made a full member of the team, and she was ready to really get in there and have some fun. Zoe didn't know the most about Quidditch, but hitting things was a lot of fun, and she was eager to put her skills to practice. She joined the rest of the team on the pitch, grinning brightly, and waited for the practice to start.

Lars was, quite honestly, baffled that he had made the team. He was the alternate keeper now, which meant he had to be at practices and interact with his fellow team members. He really should have thought on things a bit more before he had attended tryouts, though Fleur had been very convincing. The boy held his broom in his hand as he walked onto the pitch, casting a cautious glance around. He didn't know anyone on the team, which made him feel incredibly awkward. Lars just stood there with his broom, hoping that the captains would tell him what to do soon.

Jackson was a little nervous for the first practice as co-captain, he wasn't sure he was ready to help lead but he knew he'd have to suck it up and just do it. He changed into his practice robes and made his way out onto the pitch where October and a few of their new teammates were waiting. They were working with an entirely new team of players so their practices would be crucial to any success they might have that season.

Sophie was delighted to be a part of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team. The girl was extremely excited and nervous for the first practice with the team. She held her hands in fists to prevent them from shaking too much as she made her way up to the quidditch pitch with her shiny new broom in hand. Her cousin had taken the liberty of buying her a broom and Sophie hoped that it would be good for her. She gathered around with the rest of the team as she waited for everyone to arrive and for the practice to finally start.

As the team assembled, October glanced at Jackson for reassurance before blowing her whistle. She knew she wasn't the only one feeling a little overwhelmed by the task ahead of them, but she hoped the practice would go to plan, and help them both feel more assured about their team's future. "Alright everyone, we're just going to have a standard practice. If you've been an alternate before, you'll know how this works. Keepers, each guard one set of hoops. Minnie, we'll be playing against each other. Beaters, free for all target practice. Try not to knock anyone out, we don't want a hospital wing visit. Chasers, practice passing, practice stealing, fly a full lap of the pitch before trying to score. Alternate hoops, give the keepers some practice." October paused and glanced at Jackson, to see if he had anything to add, before raising the whistle to her lips again and blowing.

With the practice started, October mounted her broom quickly and kicked off, shooting into the air. She kept an eye on her teammates as they took to their positions, before turning her attention to the snitch. Despite the success she had had in her first full year on the team, last year hadn't been her best, and she was eager to return to form, and hopefully pull out at least one victory in her final year on the quidditch team.

Lars waited anxiously for the practice to begin, and when it did, he listened anxiously to what the captain had to say. It seemed like he and Simon would each be guarding one end of the pitch, so he nodded nervously before getting on his broom. He flew over to the hoops on the southern end of the pitch, then floated in front of the middle one uncertainly.

Zoe was more than ready to put her skills to the test, and when one of the captains blew her whistle Zoe kicked off swinging, racing after one of the bludgers. She swung for it hard, hoping to catch October by surprise, but the bludger whizzed past her and hit Simon instead. Wincing, Zoe waved her bat as she called out to her classmate. "SORRY!"

OOCOut of Character:

Your action (hit) was successful!
...but the bludger went off course, and you hit another player, instead!
@Simon Vanity

Simon flew up into the air, and he'd barely made his way to the hoops he was guarding when he was hit with a bludger hard. He groaned at the sudden flare up of pain, but that was quidditch wasn't it. His first introduction to quidditch as a sport with other players was to get hit. But that didn't matter, he just had to keep playing, ignore the pain and keep going. He got to his hoops and waited to see which of the chasers would approach him.

Minnie nodded at the captain's instructions to her before she got on the broom and shot up into the air. She would look for the snitch and she would show to the captains that she was worthy of the position. She would just have to work hard.

October couldn't help keeping more of an eye on her teammates than the snitch, anxious about her role. Should she be giving tips? October didn't have the foggiest idea how to chase better beyond what she had read in books, how was she supposed to coach anyone? Before the self doubt could dig in though, the shadow of her father's disapproving voice was interrupted in October's mind by the very real sound of a bludger impact. Her eyes widened as she saw the ball strike Simon, floating in his direction to make sure he was okay. The boy seemed fine though, and October did her best to shake off her worries, focusing on the task at hand, though the snitch was nowhere to be seen.

Zoe was a little alarmed at the force at which the ball hit Simon. She knew what she was doing was dangerous, but batting a ball across a pitch and actually hitting a real person were two different things. Zoe tried to swallow down that discomfort, turning to chase after the other bludger. This was her job, she reminded herself, everyone knew she was here to hit people, and everyone here had signed up to be hit by her. Nothing to be concerned about. They knew what was coming. Still, she felt as though she owed Simon a proper apology now.

Simon remained at the hoops, he knew he'd probably be bruised the next day but it would be okay. He'd manage just fine. The prefect just kept his gaze on where the ball was, hopeful that he would made a good attempt at catching it when it finally came over to him.

Minnie went chasing after a snitch she thought she spotted, but it was not that at all. Instead it was just something else. It was early on, she could prove herself if given more of a chance. She just needed to press forward and keep trying.

Simon seemed alright, so October tore her focus away from him, and did her best to return to the search for the snitch. She flew wide, eyes scanning for any hint of gold, though none made themselves apparent.

Even though he looked fine, Zoe was still fighting her guilt about hitting Simon. This was something that was going to take some getting used to, with her new position on the team. She tried not to think about it, gripping her bat tightly and soaring forward after one of the bludgers.

Alexis rushed to the pitch with her broom on hand. It had been three years since she last used it and was glad to get back on the team. She greeted the team and went to stand between Joshua and Simon. She was delighted to have three of her classmates on the team, including Zoe. October greeted the group, explained how the practice would go and gave the start signal. Alexis kicked off the ground with the quaffle on her hand.
She leaned on her broom as she did a full round of the pitch while deciding which side of the hoops should she score. Simon was guarding the northern hoops while a second-year named Lars. She glanced at the other chasers when a bludger zoomed past her toward October but eventually landing on Simon. Alexis winced at the impact and almost forgot about the quaffle so that she could check on their prefect. Luckily, October was already there and Simon looked fine.

Simon was keeping an eye on who had the quaffle, Alexis. He was paying close attention to them. He needed to protect these hoops as much as he possible could. The teen just needed to.

Minnie kept pushing herself, she knew needed to relax and that she didn't need to prove everything in the space of two minutes. She just kept up her search of the snitch, occasionally in pursuit of what was either a few away snitch or something else.

Alexis decided to go for Simon's side. With the quaffle tucked on her right arm, she sped through the pitch, occasionally dodging zooming bludgers and took her shot for the highest ring. Too bad, it fell short and failed to sail through. Alexis groaned but still shot Simon a bright smile. That meant that he was doing a great job at guarding the hoops. Alexis was Keeper the first time she joined so she knew how important this practice was for the team.

October could sense the rest of the game playing out on the pitch but she struggled to pay attention to it, losing focus entirely as a glimmer of gold caught her eye. She focused in on it and flattened herself to her broom, curls flying in the wind as she shot towards the snitch, arm outstretched. When she felt her hand close around the cool metal of the ball, October laughed in relief. Though she hadn't had much success last year, she could still do this. After waving her arm up to indicate to any watching teammates that she had caught the snitch, October released the ball and waited a while, giving it a chance to zip away before she resumed her search.

Zoe raced towards a bludger, hoping to hit it towards one of the seekers, but as she reached the ball and swung her bat flew wide, barely clipping the bludger, and the ball spun away uselessly, not hitting anyone at all.

Alexis caught hold of the quaffle that Simon threw into play. Rounding about, she decided to speed to the other side of the pitch. She had no choice but to give Lars a chance to practice. She planned to give him an easy save to warm up. Bending her arm for a throw, the fifth year threw the quaffle toward the middle ring. Unfortunately, he failed to save it. Alexis approached him quickly, "You'll do better.", giving him an encouraging smile before flying away again.
