Party Time

[Preston Paine]

This year's Halloween would be much different for Preston than the previous year's celebration. He actually had a date this time around, one that he glanced around for as he stepped through the open doors of the Great Hall. Not spotting her, Preston parked himself against the walls to wait alongside several other people who he assumed were also waiting. The party was well under way, students and professors alike dancing on the dance floor.

Preston people-watched as he waited, noting that one girl, a fellow Slytherin, had a similar costume. Preston leaned his surfboard against the wall, wondering if she had made similar enhancements to her board. Preston had paid a hefty price to a seventh year for the enhancements he'd asked for, but it had been well worth it. Taking a cookie offered by a house elf who had just entered with a plate full of them, Preston took a large bite. With a nod to one of his roommates who had just entered, Preston kept his attention on the door, waiting for his pretty, blonde girlfriend to arrive. He was eager to see how she looked.

[Tybalt Archer]

Halloween was always one of Ty's favourite times in the year. Though this time around he'd had a little difficulty with his costume, he'd simply forgotten to pack one and was having to make do. In the end, he decided he would go as an explorer, and more specific dressed like the kids animation character Diego. Which he had just happened to have similar clothes to. He wore his wellies with his brown khaki trousers, matched with a tightly fitting navy blue shirt that had once been too big for the teen, and his navy blue blazer, he wore a fedora looking hat, while having a compass around his neck and a map in his pocket. He wasn't exactly dressed as anything scary but, it could do as far as costumes went. He smiled to himself as he entered the great hall, enjoying as ever the usual get up of the hall and the people. His costume was fairly bland compared with others. But, he didn't mind. This was halloween, he could dressed as he pleased.

Tybalt had wanted to spend this halloween with his girlfriend, but as this was a very public school event that was an impossibility for them to attend together. he was just slightly let down by this and hoped to see her later in the evening. Maybe sometime in the next few days. However, glancing around the room, he tried to look for some of his other friends, but his eyes fell upon Preston, Indi's friend. Knowing that he might have a chance at running into Indi when with Preston, Ty made his way over to the other teen. "Hey Preston" Ty said with a smile and a small wave as he walked over to him. "Nice costume, are you waiting on Indiana?" He asked.

[Preston Paine]

Preston had just finished his cookie and was looking around for the house elf so he could grab another one when he heard Tybalt address him. Lifting his hand in greeting, Preston gave the Gryffindor guy a smile of his own. Hey Tybalt” Preston replied in a friendly tone. As the months had gone on and his relationship with Indiana had grown stronger, Preston had grown increasingly friendly towards the Gryffindor guy. It was probably because the Slytherin saw the Gryffindor as less of a threat, but also because Tybalt was pretty ok…for a Gryffindor anyway.

“Thanks” Preston added as he looked over Tybalt’s costume. The guy looked decidedly normal to Preston, which made Preston realize that he was dressed as something from the muggle world. What was normal for him in muggle wear was certainly not what most wizards thought was normal. Once, when he’d been in Gringotts with his dad to exchange some money, he’d come across an adult wizard dressed in pair of pajamas with a feather boa and flip-flops on. Preston had thought the man was dressed for a party of sorts, but over time, he had learned that it was what some wizards thought was normal attire for muggles when they left their house. Taking another look, Preston spotted the compass that Tybalt had around his neck. “Yea, she should be down any minute. I think so anyway.” Preston gave a little shrug. He wasn’t entirely sure how much longer Indiana would be. “So, you’re an explorer or something like that, right?” he questioned.

 

[Indiana Night]

Indiana was pretty nervous. It had been her idea after all, the couple costume she and Preston would go as, surfer dude and his gal. But looking at herself in the mirror in her room she wondered if she really felt comfortable walking to the Great Hall in just her bathing suit. She didn't think she looked bad but some people might still pick on her. In the end she opted to wear some jean shorts and a button down shirt over her bathing suit. She didn't think Preston would mind. Summer was right around the corner anyway. Heading out of her dorm room Indiana walked carefully as she hadn't thought shoes would be very appropriate for her costume. She was enjoying the warm air and was glad it wasn't freezing in the castle.

Upon arriving in the Great Hall Indiana spotted her boyfriend almost immediately. He was standing there talking with Tybalt. She missed seeing her best friend, they never hung around together much anymore, he was always busy with something and she was always using her free time to be with Preston. Walking over to the two boys with a giant grin on her face she broke into their conversation, "Hello guys!" She waited for them to react and acknowledge her presence.
