It had been a year since elvera had stepped down for a much needed break, taking a combination of long service leave and carers leave to look after her mum. while things had initially worked out well with selene moving back and them looking after each other she did not want to place her daughter in the same situation she had been in nearly thirty years ago.
while the cottage in picton was her official address and the land in summerset did now have her name on the title being fully honest the castle was really her home and she was glad to be back.
The first thing she had noticed on coming back was the absence of one of her oldest friends. She had known that Cyndi was stepping down. She had been a mainstay in the school ever since she herself had started Ancient Runes in her third year. there were other, smaller changes too. A new group of students. a year group that her year away had totally missed. but even with those small things it felt good to be home. It was Saturday morning after her first week back teaching and she headed down for a latish breakfast. Most days she didn't bother taking breakfast on her own in her rooms, sometimes joined with yvonne. often, she found the hustle and bustle of the school (and the number of stairs) too much to go down multiple times a day. but she had found that she had missed it. so today she was sitting at the staff table enjoying a small serving of scrambled ogg on toast and a bowl of fruit and yoghurt. sipping on her tea she looked around adjusting to the comings and goings of those around her.
