It was late afternoon by the time all Prim’s classes had finished for the day and she’d headed to the Wild Patch garden. She hadn’t thought much about her name before coming to Hogwarts, or even that much whilst she was here, honestly. Uncle Ben was a Professor now, and she called him that even though he was her cousin because he was older than her and it felt weird to refer to him just by his name, she supposed she could just call him Professor, but that didn’t really work for her to be honest. When she was at home, it was just a name, something she shared as part of her adopted family with her adoptive parents and her adoptive siblings. Nothing special really. Lately though, especially this year, she’d started paying a little more attention.
It had started when she’d heard the sorting in September, Kaster. She didn’t know all that many peopel outside of her immediate family because they were all sort of spread out, though they talked enough, she was surprised to see the name called out and had been surprised because she hadn’t heard there would be any Kaster’s starting school this year. She’d wondered if maybe it was a similar name, and not actually spelled the same as hers, so she hadn’t done anything about it at first. After all, she didn’t know many people outside of her immediate family with the name. It was probably a coincidence. Then she’d seen it written down on the Wild Patch Sign up sheets, and it had sparked an interest in her, she wanted to find out more.
Gloves tucked into her pocket and a smudge of dirt already on her cheek, Prim made her way towards the boy in question. It had taken her a long time to get the nerve up to approach him, and she knew she had definitely never seen him at family gatherings. She didn’t remember ever meeting anyone named Daisuke. He didn’t seem to look like anyone from her family she would immediately recognise either. “Hey,” she said, stopping beside him. She hesitated for what to say for a moment before just forging ahead. “Your name’s Kaster right? Daisuke Kaster?” Just to make sure she hadn’t stuffed it all up and this wasn’t the boy she was supposed to be approaching. “We um… have the same last name… I was wondering… well, your parents, what’re their names? If you don’t mind me asking I mean. I’m Prim, by the way, Primrose… Kaster.”
