Lockhart Manor

"You might want to gain better control of yourself, Sarah," Valcan drawled smugly, wiping the wine from his face with his handkerchief and cleaning any red spots from his suit with Scourgify. "I've heard they'll admit people who can't control their tempers to St. Mungo's." This of course, wasn't true and very hypocrytical of him to say, but he could never back down from a good bout of conflict.

Sarah rolled her eyes at Valcan. "I suppose they will give me a bed in the next room to yours? Since I have heard that now they admit those who have no HEART as well."

Valcan chuckled, knowing that he was getting underneath Sarah's skin. He pointed to his chest. "Hmm, that's odd," he smirked evilly, "I feel it beating."

Sarah turned back to the buffet and refilled her glass with wine. She turned around again and smirked. "It may be beating, but you have no idea how to use it."

"True, true," Valcan chuckled back, smirking, "Though if my body couldn't use it in a physical sense, I wouldn't be alive, now would I?"

Again, Sarah glared at Valcan. What did I ever see in him. "I suppose you know how to use it physically, that is if you call the way you live as being alive."

"That is exactly what I said," Valcan said snarkily, satisfied that he had cleansed himself of all the wine that she had thrown at him. "Now, where are my son and your daughter? Arrangements must be made." He was eager to get down to business and be back home, as much as he loved annoying his former lover.

"I believe they are up in her suite" Sarah replied. "They do tend to spend a lot of time up there. Alone." She hoped that the fact that Lief was staying here was enough to get under his skin a little more. Lief took after his mother in temperament, or at least from what she has seen of him. "I will have the elf go get them." She snapped her fingers and the elf appeared in the room with an audible pop. "Will you bring Daisy and Lief here please?" she said politely, a much nicer tone than she ever spoke to Valcan with. She leaned back against the buffet, taking a drink of her wine and glaring at Valcan. She wondered just what he had up his sleeves.

Valcan could only smirk back at Sarah. "I am glad that the boy is actually starting a life of his own," Valcan said, a sneer plastered upon his face. "Being dependent upon your family at such an age would give you reason to be called a freeloader." He waited for Lief and Daisy to appear, a smug expression decorating his handsome features.

Daisy heard a familiar knock on the door. She knew that the house elf, Hattie, had been sent to her for some reason. She looked at Lief and smiled at him before getting up from the sofa where they were now curled up. Quickly, she crossed the room and opened the door, where she was asked to join her mother in the dining room along with Lief.

"Hattie, please tell mother we will be down in a minute." she said, smiling still from the surprise that Lief had given her earlier.

She crossed back to the sofa, and informed Lief that they were summoned. "I guess we are to report to the dining room. Mother wants us there." Daisy gave Lief a long, lingering kiss, hoping that they would be able to maintain a smile no matter what was in store for them downstairs.

Lief smiled weakly, wondering possibly what Sarah could want downstairs. He kissed her back enthusiastically, even though his demeanor still seemed like cold stone. Holding out his arm for her to take, quite like an usher at a wedding, he led Daisy down the staircase.

(minor godmod  )

Daisy took a deep breath as they reached the door to the dining room. She looked up at Lief and smiled, glad that she had hold of Lief's arm still. She then opened the door to the dining room and they entered.

"Yes Mother. You sent for us." she said before she froze in her tracks. There was Valcan Drage, in their dining room. Daisy had not been prepared for that sight. She quickly looked up at Lief to gauge his reaction to his father being there with her mother.

Valcan's arms were crossed as he saw Lief and Daisy enter the room. They appeared rather amorous together, which was a good thing. Well, they better. As far as he was concerned, Lief did not have a choice in this matter.

Nodding to the both of them, he waited for someone else to speak, not wanting to be the one to break the silence.

Sarah noted Valcan's reaction. Typical of him she thought as she rolled her eyes.

"Darlings, I believe that we are all here to begin to discuss the wedding plans. Do you want anything to drink before we sit?" She made a point of looking only at Lief and Daisy. She didn't want Valcan to think she was offering him anything, even a drink, ever again.

"Water is fine," Lief replied quietly in his thick accent, meeting his father's identical ice blue gaze. After glancing at his father for a moment, kind of exchanging a mental message that only the two of them could understand, he took a seat at the table.

Daisy sat down next to Lief at the table, staying close to him. She was nervous of Valcan's presence in the room, not really knowing what to expect with him.

Being the excellent host that she was, Sarah quickly got Lief a glass of water and her daughter a glass of milk. She knew that Daisy didn't ask for it, but she was always being the pushy mom and trying to encourage her in the early stages of her pregnancy. She then sat down at the head of the table and waited for Valcan to either sit or stay standing or whatever. She smiled at the loving couple, waiting to see if Valcan had some smart aleck comment to share with them.

"I would like a sherry, thank you," Valcan replied, knowing that Sarah had not offered the drinks to him but saying it anyways. He, however, didn't have anything smart aleck to say, so he took a seat at the table, waiting for someone to start speaking.

Sarah ignored Valcan's request. She was still furious with his presence in her home. She decided that she would be the one to start things off.

"Alright. Since we are all here to discuss the wedding, let's get things started. Have you talked about a date?"

Lief had noticed the way that his father and Sarah had acted towards each other, and he suddenly wondered what could have happened in the past to make them that way. After observing them for a moment, he decided that he really didn't want to know.

"We actually haven't talked about a set date," he said quietly, grasping Daisy's hand under the table.

Daisy squeezed Lief's hand when he took it, and used her left hand to cradle the goblet of milk that was in front of her. She made sure that the ring she just received was highly visible, wondering what her mother and Valcan would say about it. She smiled at Lief and then spoke. "We have not had time to make many decisions at all. The only thing I am sure about is the groom." She looked at Lief and gave him a wink. "Oh, and that I will not under any circumstances wear anyone's wedding gown. I will be purchasing my own." She looked at her mother, daring her to contradict that fact.

"Well, I highly suggest doing it before the child is born," Valcan added in gruffly, quite set on this matter. He stared down at Lief, daring him to contradict him.

Sarah gave Valcan a sideways glance. She hated to admit it, but he had a point.

"Darlings, I think that may be a good idea. Either the wedding takes in the next month or so, before you start showing, or we should wait until after the baby is born and you have your figure back." She smiled at her daughter, thinking she was going to be a very beautiful bride.
