Augustus had been looking forward to tonight. He and Addison were going to have a great time together, without Ryan. Surely Ryan would know better than to disturb them on Valentine's day, right? Especially after Augustus had spent more time with his friend before the dance. Ryan couldn't argue Augustus had no time for him anymore. The Ravenclaw was waiting near the entrance of the Great Hall, adjusting his suit nervously. He hoped Addison would have a fun time tonight, he hadn't felt like a great boyfriend lately. Maybe he could even say he loved her, the way she had. But he wasn't sure if he could do it.

Addy had to admit, she was nervous about the dance tonight. She was worried about Ryan. The Yule Ball kept replaying itself in her mind. She wasn't sure what else she could have done. After letting Allison help her with her make-up, Addy walked down to the hall, relaxing as she spotted Augustus. Her worries faded away as she walked up and slid a hand through his elbow, smiling warmly up at him. "You look very handsome tonight, Augy," She told him, shifting to stand a little closer.

Augustus smiled shyly at Augustus as she complimented him. He took her in for a moment, admiring her. "You look beautiful." He told her after a moment, reaching up to touch her face for a second before dropping his hand. He led Addison into the great hall, glancing at her. "Do you want to dance?" He asked hesitantly.

Addy shut her eyes, humming softly and leaning into his touch. She couldn't help but smile, tracing her hand down his arm to lace their fingers together and reaching up with her other hand to rest it against his arm. "I would absolutely love to dance," She agreed, giving him a tender smile and nodding for him to lead the way.

Augustus felt his heart flutter at the sight of Addison taking his hand. He nodded slightly as she agreed to dance, suddenly sure he had to say something first. He stopped leading her to the dance floor, pausing to face her. "First, I have to say... something." He said quietly. "About... what you said in the garden. Addison, I..."

Ryan cursed quietly to himself as he had to push past another pair of dancers, ignoring their muttered complaints as he nearly trod on someone's toes again. He'd been meaning to head down to the hall with Augustus but had gotten caught up in what he was reading and missed his roommate leaving. Augustus had thankfully been spending more and more time with Ryan this semester, a sign that his campaign to stop Addison monopolizing all his time was working. Now he just had to make sure they didn't backslide again like they had after spending last Winter break working together before going back to school.

"Should have known you guys would be stuck doing the boring stuff without me," he said when he finally reached Augustus and Addison on the dancefloor, glad for once for Augustus' past growth spurt making him easier to spot in a crowd. "Augustus, you hungry? You look kind of green," he added, prodding Augustus in the arm.

It was finally happening. They were going to dance, as an actual couple, and Ryan wasn't anywhere in sight. Addy couldn't help the silly grin on her face as they moved towards the dance floor. She almost protested when Augustus stopped her, but she held her tongue. Her brow furrowed a little as he spoke. "Of course, Augy, what is it?" She asked. As he mentioned the gardens, her eyes widened. Her cheeks flushed and her heart almost stopped.

Unthinkingly, Addy stepped closer. "Yes?" she breathed, unable to tear her eyes away from his face, shifting to hold his hand in both of her own. But before he could finish, an all too familiar voice broke in. Addy blinked rapidly, taking a step back and turning a bit to see Ryan. Of course. "Hi, Ryan," Addy managed, her heart sinking to the pit that had opened up in her stomach. She tried to hide the disappointment in her face, giving the other boy a shaky smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
