The events of the yuleball had definitely brought things into perspective for the Slytherin. Staying at school during the break had too, he needed to break up with Therese. He did have a crush on someone else, and though he knew it was pointless to be with them, it would never happen, he needed to stop stringing poor Therese along. The slytherin knew breaking up with her was what he had to do. Their relationship had grown boring as Rory’s future loomed in front of him, one he would progress into without Therese, whether he liked it or not. The boy had decided that he would do it somewhere public, which could also still be the privacy necessary. He’d sent an owl to her asking her to come. It was different than with Anabelle, Anabelle had meant nothing to him in any sense. She’d been nice and convenient, a good enough name, and early enough that it was never going to last. He liked Therese, hoped they might remain friendly, though given his behaviour both when with her and at that last yuleball, he could understand if she wasn’t keen. He had never done anything with anyone, but he had flirted with just about everyone he could. Andi included. Most could play it off, knew he didn’t really mean it, but he could realise it wasn’t the nicest thing he’d done and he owed Therese a little more than that. Rory was waiting, sitting at the edge of the hufflepuff table, ignoring the glares of the other students who passed him to sit at it. He liked Therese, maybe if things were different they could’ve had a chance, but it wasn’t and Rory knew that it just wouldn’t work out, there was too much at stake for him to waste it on her and what they could be.

After the yuleball Therese had spend some time with her family back in Sweden. Like always she enjoyed that. Therese couldn't wait for her sisters to join Hogwarts. She was so curious where they would end up. And next to her own siblings she had lots of cousins yet to come. Therese knew Lauren would join next year, she thought it was too bad they didn't had contact anymore. But she knew how old her cousins where and she would try to get contact with Gabriella. Therese knew her uncle was different than her father, but she didn't judged him or thought bad of him. There had to be a reason for his behavior and nobody was just born evil or bad she figured. At home she spend some time with her cousins and now she was back at Hogwarts again. The brunette was eager to see her friends again and to meet up with Rory. And she was glad that he had send her a note, he wanted to meet. Therese had to eat and drink a bit anyway so she walked over to the Great Hall.

The brunette walked over to her housetable and saw Rory sitting at the edge of the table. The brunette smiled and walked over to him. She was always glad to see him, and he was her boyfriend but also a very good friend of hers. At the Yule Ball there was some tension between her boyfriend and a couple, and Therese wanted to ask him about it. She wasn't afraid that he would become angry or anything, she could mostly find the right words and she seemed to have a talent for not making people angry and just let people tell what was on their hearts. '' Hi!'' The brunette said sweet to her boyfriend and gave him a kiss on his cheek, and went sitting next to him. '' Thanks for your note. Did you have a nice break?'' The brunette asked to Rory with a smile. She hoped he had enjoyed his free time. It was busy enough with all of that classes and homework.

Rory spotted his girlfriend as she stepped into the great hall, he could admit that he had missed her over the break, maybe just a little. He smiled a little, but he knew what he was about to do and the smile just wasn’t as real. He shrugged, ”Same as always, stayed here, hung out wae Flavio,” the teen didn’t elaborate any more than that. He stared forward, he couldn’t particularly find the words, it was easier when he cared less, when he could just say what needed to be said. If only he had gotten someone else to do it for him, it wouldn’t have been particularly kind on her, but he would have an easier time, and he was more important, right? Rory took a deep breath, ”Therese, yer a bonnie lass, ah’ve really appreciated oor time together, but we cannae,” He told her. He wasn’t sure how else to really say it, he liked her, but it wouldn’t work out, ”It's been nice, yer sweet and funny but ah cannae keep going wae ye as yer boyfriend,” He was to the point, mostly.

”We have tae break up,” he added with a little more finalty, finally getting the words out, no messing around or putting it nicely, just bluntly saying what they needed to do. Break up. That was why they needed to do, if they didn’t break up now, then they’d break up soon anyway, it wasn’t like his parents would approve of her. His parents had almost certainly already picked a girl, he was sure that they’d picked someone from the moment they’d left and he was sure, he would meet her soon. There was no point in pretending with Therese that they could remain together, at the very least he believed they might break up on better terms. He thought that Therese would maybe understand, would maybe want the same.
