Illvermorny Quidditch Practice Y40 S1

[Hyun Ong Hae]

Despite having a few new faces on the team, Hyun was still feeling confident as he stood on the pitch and waited for everyone to arrive for the practice. It did feel weird that it was going to be his last year on the team. Hyun still fondly remembered arriving in America for his third year and being stuck on the bench watching everyone else at first. And now here he was co-captain and heading into his final year. "Feels a bit weird knowing this is going to be our last year, huh?" He questioned as he turned towards Lucas with a smile. It was quite obvious that Lucas was not himself and Hyun had quite a big suspicion it was because Einar hadn't seemed to have come back to school that year. But that wasn't really any of his business so he wasn't going to go into it unless Lucas wanted to talk about it.

Instead, he rocked on his heels and when it seemed as though everyone had arrived his clapped his hands. "Alright everyone, welcome back to the team. And for you two new faces, welcome to the team," he made sure to grin at their new alternate and beater for just a moment before he continued. "As you may, or may not, remember, we managed to make beat Beuxbatons last year and face off against Hogwarts in a match... I'm not going to talk about. It was rough on all of us and it's clear we have some work to do if we ever want to show our faces in front of the Hogwarts crowd again. But first we have to worry about beating the French again. I know we can do it. So let's get out there and have a good practice. You should all know what you're doing. I want to see coordination and teamwork out there." And that was all he had to say, nodding his head before releasing the balls and mounting his broom.

[Abigail Martin]

Abigail barely listened to the speech the captain gave, she just wanted to get started. Once the practice began, she scooped up the quaffle and started to make her way over to the hoops. She was still angry about how their last match had gone.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Flick was excited to get into her first proper practice as an official member of the Ilvermorny Quidditch team. Sure it didn't carry as many cool points as some other of the school clubs and teams, but she was still pretty excited. She twirled her bat at the captains addressed them, giving a friendly wave hello back to Hyun and the rest of the team in case anyone had missed that she was their new beater.

Soon after the balls were released and Felicity took to the air, immediately knocking one of the bludgers away with a solid smack, only realizing right after that she'd sent it directly into their captain by accident. "Oops! Sorry, got over excited," she tittered, waving apologetically with her bat. @Hyun Ong Hae

 

[Micha Kovac]

Micha was doing his best to psych himself up for practice. He had done alright at try outs but when Hyun mentioned the Hogwarts game he felt his shoulders sag a bit. They did have a lot of work to do and he took to the air quickly to start his search for the snitch.

 

[Abigail Martin]

Abigail made her way to the hoops quickly, hoping to catch the keeper off-guard. Unfortunately, the keeper managed to block her shot. Abigail frowned and flew off, frustrated.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Her first hit had felt good, even if it was a little bit of a fluke, though the reverberation from the bat up Felicity's arm had sucked. She took a moment to circle the pitch, trying to shake out her arm before getting back into the game.

 

[Lucas Ames]

Lucas walked down to the pitch, really just going through the motions. He stood with Hyun, his head and his heart elsewhere. He hummed quietly as Hyun spoke to him, knowing he would have to catch his fellow captain after practice. For now though, he just nodded in agreement to what was said, not having anything to add before taking to the air with the rest of the team. He trailed behind, letting the others take the lead.

 

[Jia Warren]

Jia was pleased that she made the team, and she made a point of smiling to @Yoo Hyun Ki as they stood on the field. Only one of the captains spoke, but she hardly minded. She took off into the air and began her search.

 

[Micha Kovac]

Micha paid little attention to practice around him and focused on his search. He was caught off guard when he spotted the snitch almost immediately. He hesitated, wondering if it was just a trick of the light. But it was the real thing and he chased after it. After a quick chase his snatched the small gold ball out of the air and let out a victorious cheer. If only it was that easy in an actual game.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Felicity had moved to see if she could chat to Mykaela and get some of the older girl's beater secrets, but was distracted when Micah shot across the pitch to grab the snitch. "Wow, Micah, that's amazing!" She gushed. "Does that mean practice is over now?"

 

[Micha Kovac]

Micha laughed at Felicity's question. "No." he said, still riding the high from his quick catch. "Would hardly be fair to the rest of the team, we just got started." he teased lightly before getting back to his search.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Felicity shrugged, a little disappointed she could get out of practice early, before hefting her bat up a little to look busy. "I guess, though I don't think you need much practice," she added, nodding at the snitch he'd just released before it disappeared somewhere around the pitch.

 

[Mykaela Blythe]

Mykaela was sure in her skills, so when Hyun said that the practice was up, she just took the air, looking out for the other players. When Micha caught the snitch already, Mykaela just started to really pay attention to the practice.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Felicity left Micha to it, drifting towards their other beater to see if she had any tips. She was distracted on the way as one of the bludgers shot past, swinging at it without really aiming and watching as it launched into @Mykaela Blythe. "Oops, sorry girl. Was just coming over to see if you had any advice for a newbie, my bad," she called, flying closer to Mykaela.

[Hyun Ong Hae]

He was barely in the air five seconds before he was hit with a bludger. "No.. no.. good hit," he tried to encourage the newest beater though he was pretty sure he was still grimacing. And then Micha had already gone and caugh the snitch. "Nice on, Micha!" If the team could perform like this during their game then they would win for sure. Swinging towards the hoops he caught the quaffle as it was tossed back in to play before heading back around.

 

[Yoo Hyun Ki]

Yoo was a little surprised that Jia had joined the team, but smiled at her and just went to the hoops. He tossed the quaffle back out.

 

[Hyun Ong Hae]

Pulling up at the hoops he tried to make a score, but groaned as it missed.

 

[Abigail Martin]

Abigail saw Felicity and Micha were talking. Were they flirting? She frowned and glanced at Micha as she passed him. "You should try catching it again." She snapped at him as she flew up to the hoops. She grabbed the quaffle after it was thrown back into play. They had to do better.

 

[Micha Kovac]

Micha winced as Abigail snapped at him. "That- that's the plan!" he called after her weakly before getting back to his search.

 

[Mykaela Blythe]

Mykaela frowned when the bludger hit her, understanding how badly actually hurted the bludger hit. "It's fine! You're doing amazing, keep it that way!" She showed thumbs up, happy to see that at least the other beater seemed to be lucky.

 

[Mykaela Blythe]

The bludger went wide and didn't hit anyone while Mykaela just tried to keep positive.

 

[Hyun Ong Hae]

"Okay, let's try and keep it friendly," he offered as he caught the quick interaction between Abigail and Micha. He would prefer that they all got along. For now, he hung back as Abigail took possession of the quaffle, though kept close enough if she wanted to pass.

 

[Micha Kovac]

Micha kept up his search.

 

[Felicity Sweetwater]

Felicity preened as Hyun and Mykaela both complimented her, twirling her bat and nearly dropping it when a nearby bludger shot past a bit too close for comfort.

Micha thought he saw a flash of gold off to his right and spun around in the air so quickly he almost fell over. But when he finally got his balance back what ever he had seen was gone.
