[Nikko Blackwood]

Nikko hadn't really thought twice about going to the ball with Lucas and felt totally fine about it until he was actually in the great hall looking for the other boy. This was his first time going to a dance with someone and the more he thought about it the fast his heart raced. He rocked back and forth on his heels and had far too much pent up energy to keep still for more than a second. He tried to tell himself it wasn't a big deal, it was just Lucas, it would be fine. Nikko was fairly certain the Hufflepuff didn't like him like that and they were just going as friends, partners. He looked up at the decorations and the twinkling lights distracted him enough for him to calm down. He glanced at the door again and grinned when he spotted Lucas. He reached his hand high in the air to wave the other boy down. "Hey!" he called out, careful not to yell and hoped Lucas heard him.

Lucas was rather excited for tonight. Nikko had agreed to go with him to the ball, and Lucas was kind of counting this as his first date. The only problem was that he wasn't entirely sure if Nikko felt that way too. He knew he had to ask at some point, but maybe that could be put off a bit. For now, they just had to have a fun night. Lucas grinned when he spotted Nikko waving at him, quickly rushing over to him. He stopped in front of the Gryffindor and grinned shyly. "Hi." He said, feeling strangely out of breath. "You look great."

Nikko relaxed a little as Lucas approached but now he was feeling a little underdressed. He was only wearing a button down shirt but he smiled at the compliment. "Oh thanks." he said lightly and rubbed at the back of his neck which felt hot. "You do too." he added quickly and it was true. The other boy's suit jacket fit him very well. A silence fell over them after that and he was painfully aware that he had no idea what he was doing. "So....now what?" he asked with a laugh, trying to play it off. "Do you want to get something to drink?" Nikko offered and gestured towards the snack table.

Lucas couldn't stop smiling, glad to be here with Nikko. He was pleased when the other boy complimented him back, though he then floundered a bit as he tried to think of something to say. "Uh, yeah!" He said, when Nikko suggested getting something to drink. He kind of wanted to dance, but maybe a drink first would be a good idea. "We can get some snacks too, they usually have good ones."

Nikko grinned at Lucas' enthusiasm and grabbed his hand as they walked over to the snack table. "They really do." he nodded in agreement and took in all the sweets laid out amongst the festive spread. "I wonder if my mom can recreate these at home?" he asked mostly to himself as he picked up a particularly impressive cookie with white icing. "So are you excited to go home for break?" he asked curiously with cookie still in his mouth.
