Jake entered the courtyard without a purpose, he had no idea why he had even bothered to be there really. It was a sunny day and birds were chirping. One might say that it was the perfect day for going out and enjoying what nature had in store. Jake didn't think like that in the tiniest bit, he just didn't have much of an idea to why he was actually there. It might've been the fact that many other students were out in the courtyard and he might have a chance of making a new friend. Jake did want another friend to spend some time with. He only had a few friends and making more wouldn't do him any harm. Jake hadn't really made much effort in trying to find out why he had decided to go there that day, or go outside at all for that matter. If he did, then it would probably be the simplest answer and making a new friend seemed like the easiest and most simple answer possible. It didn't matter much to him although he did know that the day felt like it would be a good one for another reason he didn't know. Jake breathed out slowly before going on to find a place to sit and kill some time, it was an attempt to relax himself, he didn't feel anxious at all but it would never hurt to try just in that slight case he would start to panic and lose the calm exterior he had. Since he had made so much effort in trying to lose the anxiety he had gotten so used to, Jake didn't want to be anxious at all that day. Even if it seemed far out of reach with all the other people in the courtyard. Jake didn't really understand but he felt like they were all looking at him. But they obviously weren't.
As Jake started to walk into the courtyard, he noticed all the groups of friends around him, they were all talking and laughing to themselves. Something in which Jake didn't do much and only done a few times in his life due to his social awkwardness and tendency to become anxious. Either way, Jake couldn't help but feel a little lonely and want a friend to talk to when he saw all of the other students having fun with their friends. He did try to ignore this feeling, he hid it beneath a smile, making sure that he looked friendly and approachable, in the instance that somebody might want to talk to him. Jake needed a place to sit where somebody could sit with him, when he took a look around he couldn't find a free bench to sit at. Jake sighed at this and gave up on all efforts to find somewhere social to sit and look like he was a nice person. He walked over to a nearby tree and sat underneath it in the shade of the branches, the grass was soft and Jake liked how comfortable it was. Being in some sort of darkness was comforting to him, he had always loved darkness and anything close to it. He had known for a long time that being in the darkness was something he was drawn to and something he admired. It was because of how mysterious and sinister it had always been. Jake smirked ever so subtly and closed his eyes before he leant against the tree, he didn't really know what to do after that so he let his mind wonder and let his over active imagination take over his mind until he had something else to do.
