Renata was honoured to be one of the co-captains for Hufflepuff this year, she felt like she had been playing very well for a few years and partially felt that she deserved it, but also knew Felix deserved it equally as much and was glad to be sharing the role with him. She knew that they had a strong and experienced team, with very few open positions, so she had a good feeling about their chances for the cup this year. Renata was looking forward to seeing who joined in as alternates, though, wanting to give them a good headstart for next year too.

"Hello everyone!" she greeted, waving at the returning and new Hufflepuffs who headed down to the pitch. "Welcome! Felix and I are really excited to have you all here. We're a great team and I'm thinking we're going to have a really great year to match!" She was probably a bit over enthusiastic, but it was better than the alternative. "So, if you were already on the team, please come and say hello, take the opportunity to have a bit of practice and help out. If you were an alternate, or if you're trying out, please tell us your name and what position you would like to play, and then we'll let you have a go!" She pulled out a notepad with one of the pens she had from Muggle Studies, as they were a bit easier to use without a desk. "Alright, let's get started!"

Hi everyone! Returning players, you know the drill - please post in the tryouts to retain your position. Alternates and new players, you will need to post a tryout RP. First years can not try out just yet. If you have a first year that's interested, please send me and/or @Felix Carnahan a PM!

Felix knew he and Renata had big shoes to fill after Rene but he was nervous and excited to get started. He already felt stressed and the semester had barely started. He had been hesitant to accept the position on top of his extra studies but quidditch meant a lot to him and he wanted to make the time since it was likely his last year playing...ever. He waved to the gathered players as Renata started with introductions and stood supportively beside her. Felix nodded along and took to the air with the rest of the returning and new players to get a close up view of everyone's skill. He didn't really have a chance to look for the snitch himself while watching everyone, that would come later during actual practice, and maybe they'd have a real shot at the cup.

Artemis Vasilakis knew that her time had finally come! She was going to try out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team! She had it in her blood because her oldest brother was a professional player, and she wanted to follow his lead. Apollo was a beater, so Artie would try that position, and just her luck, they were wanting one! So, she would have to protect people from bludgers (or hit people with them) but she did not know how she felt about that! Artie grabbed her broom and made her way out to the Quidditch pitch. She smiled at the people she assumed were the captains. The girl looked super nice, and she could not wait to say her name, and tell them what position she was trying out for. She was small, so it was hard to believe that she would go for beater. Little did anyone know, even herself, she had a great arm.

"Artemis Vasilakis, but I go by Artie! Oh, trying out for beater!" Artie announced. She grabbed a bat and mounted her broom. She steadied on it, and then flew to the skies. She made sure her hair was out of the way, and looked around for the bludgers. She wanted to hit some, but she didn't think that she should hit anyone just yet. However, she saw a bludger coming at a player, so Artie intercepted and whacked it, hard, well away from others. Artie beamed as she got it. She let out a giggle and started looking for more to hit. By the end of the try outs, she managed to protect three others from being hit, rather than hitting players. If she made the team, she could do that during practice, and do more damage during games! Artie landed and smiled toward the captains, "Thank you for the opportunity!"

Marley knew from the moment she had heard about Quidditch, that she wanted to try out for the school team. She liked the idea of the sport and the sport itself sounded so cool to try. Marley had spent most of her break practising for Quidditch. She wanted to try to get on the team, but Marley wasn't going to be too bummed out if she didn't make the team, at least she had tried.

Marley quickly made her way to the Quidditch pitch with everyone else. She listened carefully to what the captains of the team were saying, as she didn't want to mess anything up. It wasn't long before they were able to fly into the sky and try out. "Marley Pattinson, trying out for beater!" Marley says enthusiastically. She was then in the sky with the rest of the team or with those who were trying out. She had managed to get a few hits of the bludger away from players, trying her best to protect the players. Marley also got a couple of hits on people. Though she had hoped that they weren't hard hits, she wanted to do well. It wasn't long before the try-outs had come to an end and they were back on the pitch. Marley said an appreciative thank you and goodbye to the captains before heading back to the castle with everyone else.

Zag wasn't surprised to see both Renata and Felix as co-captains. They definitely deserved the position. He offered the two of them a smile as he gripped his broom, waiting until the get go before he hopped into the sky, circling around a few times before settling in front of the hoops. He did want to try and get in as much practice as possible, so he wasn't going to go on easy on anyone deciding to try out as chaser that year.

Finley had thought long and hard about whether he was going to bother trying out for the Quidditch team again. It was hardly as though he had any passing skill, and he had just been riding the bench for years, being beaten to an open spot by someone else. And this was just going to be another year of bench warming for the team, unless he suddenly decided he wanted to play as a beater. Which he most certainly did not. He could barely shoot the quaffle, let alone worry about trying to hit bludgers at people. In the end, after a lot of back and forth with himself and weighing up all the pros and cons, Finley headed down to the pitch for the planned try out.

"Finley Holmes. Chaser. Again," he offered quietly, giving the two captains a small smile before he mounted his broom and kicked off. It did take him some time to actually get back into the swing of things, the Keeper giving him quite a lot of trouble, as the older boy easily managed to block the first few shots he attempted. Seemed as though his lack of practice and lack of skill for this sport hadn't suddenly improved over the break. Thankfully, he didn't make a total fool of himself in the air and managed to slip the quaffle past the keeper a few times. Not enough to be anything impressive, but enough to make Fin not feel completely rubbish about this whole attempt.

Leonardo was glad that Renata had been named captain with Felix, the idea of leading a team was not one he cared about. Instead he was happy to just be on the team at all. He arrived at the pitch and glanced towards the captains before just flying up into the air.

As Dominic heard that quidditch tryouts were soon, and that he could have a go at them, he was quite excited. He hadn't ever thought about playing quidditch until now, especially since he knew Marley was very keen to try out, but he wanted to give it a go as he didn't want any missed opportunities. He wasn't sure how good he was going to be, but was just keen to try out with his friends. The boy gathered around as the older Hufflepuff spoke. She seemed very friendly and keen to get to know them all. When instructed, he lined up with the others and introduced himself when it was his turn. "My name is Dominic and I'm trying out for the Hufflepuff team!" he exclaimed, as if it wasn't obvious. "I don't mind what position though - wherever you can fit me!"

With that, Dominic headed to the skies. He was a little wobbly at first, but did some laps to get himself warmed up before collecting a quaffle and beginning to make some shots. He missed a couple, but also successfully made some as well. It was all very fun, but soon Dominic wanted to get a bat so he could see what it was like to be a beater. He hadn't realised how many bludgers there were flying around until now. He swung as hard as he could towards one of them, beaming as his bat collided with it and it went straight for the other end of the field. It didn't go very far, but Dominic thought that with some practice he could be quite good at this. He tried again, this time aiming for someone he saw was close to catching a snitch. The bludger flew across to them, just touching their broom and throwing them off course. Being a beater was so much fun, but now Dominic had to try out the seeker position for himself. It was quite hard work however, and Dominic had no success in this. He soon grew bored and took a position as a keeper in front of the three hoops instead. This also proved to be difficult, however Dominic managed to actually block a couple of them, even if the force of them almost threw him off his broom.

By the end of the tryouts, Dominic was extremely tired and dripping with sweat. He didn't realise how hard it was to play the sport and suddenly really appreciated people that did it regularly. He hoped that the captain would consider him to be part of their team as all of the players seemed really nice. He was sure if he was part of the team that he would have lots of fun.

Chase, admittedly, was slightly disappointed René had graduated. There was no lie in saying the older boy had been a good beater and even if perhaps he didn't show it he learned quite a few things from him. It had also made him lean into the idea of playing as a team a little more. But now René was gone and the other position was open, which meant that he was now perhaps the more experienced beater on the team. Which wasn't great because he felt like he didn't have that much experience to begin with. Nor did he think he'd be able to give another beater any tips. For now, that didn't matter though. Glad for the distraction that tryouts brought Chase made his way into the air and did what he was supposed to do until time had run out.

Penelope knew she would be going for an alternate position again, as one of the captains was already filling the seeker position. She had briefly considered switching positions, but seeker was the one she felt most comfortable with. When it was her turn, she spoke up. "Penelope Marshall, trying out for seeker." She said, smiling slightly. She no longer felt nearly as nervous as she used to. Tryouts were pretty much just like practices. She took to the air and started looking for the snitch. It took her quite a while to spot it, but when she did she zoomed at is as fast as she could, flattening herself on her broom. She managed to catch it and held it up proudly. She let it go after that and didn't spot it anymore during her turn. When she was done, she flew down and dismounted her broom.

Veronique wasn't sure that chaser was the best fit for her, but seeing as agreeing to it would secure her spot on the team for another year, she decided to head to the field with smiles, listening to Renata give instructions to them and the others. She gave Penny a promising smile, hoping her tryout went well and headed up into the air. She thought it was ridiculous that they made people who had been alternates for years try again, but since Veronique had no impact on that rule, she kept her mouth shut and looked at Leo, seeing if he wanted to toss the quaffle around to get in some practice.

Bailey decided to bite the bullet and finally try out for the Hufflepuff team. She hadn't been a big fan of playing Quidditch when she was younger but practicing with her sister during the holidays had given her the bug and she found herself buying a new broom during her annual trip to Obsidian harbour to stock up her school supplies. She then found herself on the pitch, broom in hand waiting her turn to show what she had, if she had anything at all to show.

"Bailey Walden-Cade, trying out for seeker," She announced before she climbed on her broom and took off in search of the snitch. She knew the position she was trying out for was difficult, her dad had told her all about it as she grew up so she felt like she knew all she needed to play seeker. He had to be observant and patient, two words never used to describe her father and yet he had been an excellent seeker. Bailey flew around the pitch keeping her eyes peeled for the slightest hint of gold when she eventually saw the flutter of wings and dived after it. She was finally able to catch it after chasing after it for a while and returned to the ground snitch in hand.

Callie had been unsure for a long while about whether or not she should actually try-out. She knew she wasn't the best on a broom, but this was the only sport that was available, the only competitive and ongoing sport at the school. Callie knew she wanted to at least try to continue to play a sport. The hufflepuff had therefore, following the practice with Marley decided she would just try. Just have a go and see what happened. If she got a spot that would be fine, if she didn't, then that would okay too. Callie glanced at her friend and gave her a little thumbs up while the captain was speaking. She approached eventually. "Hi, Callie, for the keeper position," she said with a smile. She got on the broom and shot up into the air.

Callie wasn't particularly steady on her broom to begin with, she wobbled as she flew to the hoops, but once settled at the hoops began flying better. She was just still very new at it. Callie moved between the hoops, keeping an eye on the quaffle and trying to block the hoops. Callie wasn't very good. She managed to hit it away a few times, catch it a couple of times, but she also wasn't too fast with some, or went to the wrong hoop entirely. Certainly things that could be improved with time, but perhaps made her chances worse. Callie tried her best and flew down to the ground knowing she could've done better, but was still happy with her attempt.
