Mitchell honestly did not mind the fact that he would dance with Robert later on, they would be able to show the students of Hogwarts how to properly dance. Of course, the two of them were here as chaperones to make sure that chaos would not occur throughout the night. But that did not mean that they would not be allowed to have some fun of their own. And right now, Mitchell thought that they could use some of that fun seeing as everyone was going rather peacefully. ''I hope you're ready to show these students how it's really done,'' he told the other man with a grin on his face, thinking that they had done their duty long enough to be sure that nothing bad would happen for a couple of minutes. ''Unless you're about to chicken out, of course.''

Professor Kain was happy to help out for the Yule Ball, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to have a little have fun of his own. Specifically he and Professor North had decided that the students could learn a little something about dancing from them, and so the Charms professor was limbering up at the side of the hall when he spotted his dancing partner. He began to stretch out his legs, leaning on one and then the other, and performed a few squats as he assessed the situation. "You don't know me very well if you think I'd chicken out of this professor," he smirked, and loosened his tie somewhat. "Don't forget to warm up," he winked, turning to jog on the spot for a moment so that he didn't end up getting cramp during the finale.

Mitchell, opening his jacket, laughed at the other professor's comment and like him started to do warm-ups such as squats and moving his arms around in circles. ''We wouldn't want to be sore in the morning now, would we?'' Mitchell said while he continued to warm up his muscles. This was going to be ridiculous, for sure, but at least he and his colleague would be having fun whilst doing it. He was about as ready as he would possibly after a minute or two and raised his brows in a playful manner towards the other professor to indicate that he was ready.

Rob finished off his warm up with stretching his arms behind his head, and wiggled his head in a circle to make sure he ironed out any kinks. "Alright, shall we?" he asked, glad they'd had the mind to prepare before the performed in front of everyone. They knew exactly what they were about to do, and putting out his hand for Mitchell to take, he brushed down his suit so that he was as smart as he could be before stepping into the limelight. "Don't be nervous," he added with a reassuring smile, glad they were about to do it together.

Mitchell took Robert's hand as soon as he held it out for him, letting the man know that he wasn't nervous whatsoever. Once the music started the Muggle Studies professor allowed Robert to be the lead and mirrored him by stepping back with his right feet, holding onto the man's back with his other hand as they were circling around the dance floor. He very much enjoyed the dance they were attempting to do and could only hope that the other man would think so too.

As soon as the professors were moving in time to the music, Rob felt their practise sessions quickly come flooding back. The lifts, the spins, the dips. He was so ready. He placed one arm around Mitchell waist and took his hand, moving in time to the music and wiggling his hips just a little as they took their first steps. With any luck the children would be watching, and they could actually teach them a thing or two. Rob moved the hand that he was holding above their heads, so that Mitchell could twirl underneath it, dramatic and speedy, before they moved into their next position, with his head held high. "Tighten your core.." he whispered, keeping a firm smile on his face to the audience.

Doing the dance they'd been practising to do in front of pretty much the whole school wasn't a problem for him, it was remembering the steps and where to place his hands that seemed to slip his mind as they were dancing around one another. Still, the man did his best to mirror every step Rob made perfectly. Mitchell twirled underneath the hand when he was allowed to do so, albeit clumsily because he was a couple of inches sorter than the other professor. Thankfully, it went rather well and he was back into position, tightening his core like he was told to do. Surely the children would learn something from this - how to dance properly hopefully. Mitchell, being the follower, continued to mirror Rob's movement and held his left leg up high for him to grab while he himself bend over backwards.

Finn nudged Uno with his elbow and laughed into his hand. This was the excitement they'd been looking for: Professor Kain and Professor North twirling around on the dance floor. It would have been embarrassing, except they did it with such confidence that Finn found himself whooping and cheering them on instead. He grabbed Uno's hand and attempted to drag her closer. "Sirs, can you teach us how to do the twirly one?" he asked, really after any excuse to watch them do it again. If only he had a camera!

Uno laughed loudly when Finn showed her the Professors dancing, and was quite happy to watch the two of them embarrass themselves, even though Finn was clearly enjoying it. She let out a gasp when he grabbed her hand and dragged her over, but she couldn't help but laugh. Fine, she would show them how to really dance! They had won their talent show, after all. Uno stood next to Finn, trying hard to silence her laughter when he asked the Professors to show them the twirly one.

Rob thought it was all going pretty well as he took Mitchell’s leg and lowered his back towards the floor, his face always one of concentration, never wanting to break form. It appeared as though they beginning to get an audience too when two students began to laugh nearby. “I would be more than happy to teach you once the routine is complete, Mr Ellis,” interrupting a dance mid way through was just rude. Rob moved his way behind Mitchell, taking a firm grip on his waist and hoping the Muggle Studies Professor was ready for lift off.

He hadn't actually noticed the two students walk up to them until he was standing up straight again and nodded at Rob's words. ''We'd be more than happy to teach you everything, Mr Ellis,'' he added to it and let go of the Charms professor as he moved behind him. Mitchell could only hope that Rob was strong enough to keep all 180 pounds of him in the air long enough, it would be quite embarrassing otherwise, and then pushed himself off the ground with his feet. Arms spread wide like an angel while the other man was lifting him up, Mitchell smiled broadly as he looked into the hall.

Boo, that was no fun. Finn and Uno didn't actually need the professors' help, anyway. They were great dancers. Well, Uno was, and Finn was nothing if not an expert at pretending to be good at things. "Hey, come here, I'll lift you," he said, thinking that if he could throw Uno into the air, she might get a little bit higher than Professor North. It was a great plan, with one minor flaw: he hadn't lifted anything heavier than his Defence Against the Dark Arts textbook in months.

Uno huffed when the Professors pretty much just ignored them, they may as well have just flipped them off! Uno felt like doing the same to them, but luckily Finn suggested lifting her. The Slytherin girl grinned, they'd definitely show them Professors! Uno took some steps backwards, shouting "READY!" At Finn, before running as fast as she could and jumping in the air for him to catch her.

No, wait - Finn wasn't ready! He managed to extend his arms, but that was about as far as he got before Uno crashed down on top of him. Something in his back pinged as he bent in a very unnatural way before hitting the ground with a muffled, "OowwIthinkIjustbrokemyspine." So much for impressing the professors.

Elvera was of course on duty at the yule ball. not that she minded. it was always a fun evening and the students, for the most part, behaved themselves. this year was the second year since she was back at the school and she started to know some of the students. the ones in her class this semester had especially been a good group. she had watched them over the semester and there were some that she would have put money on would be attending the ball together, she was surprised when she saw Vader with someone else. but she was also surprised that she saw Rowan and Elio together.
She returned from the bathrooms after checking no-one was stuck in there crying over a broken shoe or broken heart. she made her way back onto the hall she heard a commotion from the dancefloor. looking over to see who was causing the chaos she was surprised that it was not students. she made her way over to watch professors north and kain tearing up the floor. she clapped when they were finished. "who knew you two could move like that" she said watching as a couple of students went over to ask them to show them for some pointers. as they started to dance she knew it was going to end in disaster. she saw the girl run towards the boy twice in close succession once with her mind and then once with her eyes with not enough time to do anything about it. she took a step forward her hand going for her wand. would he be able to move, would she need to conjure up a stretcher to get him to the hospital wing. not that she was any good at the transfiguration. trying to do so would pboably just show how bad she was. instead, she offered her free hand to help the girl off him. then looked "do you think you can move? she asked. hoping he was exaggerating when he said he thought she had broken his back.

Uno landed on top of Finn with a laugh, rolling off and looking at him when he said he broke his spine. She raised an eyebrow and sat up onto her bottom, looking up at the Professor when she asked if he could move. Uno laughed again. "Of course he can! Look - " She said, poking him in the side a couple of times, knowing he was just being dramatic - right? How embarrassing if she had broken his back; though she would never take blame for it.
