Tilly never would have attended the Valentine’s Dance of her own accord. When one of her housemates learned she had skipped out on the Yule Ball, they insisted she attend this event. No way were they going to allow her to miss out again. Tilly did not see it as missing out, but there was no arguing with a Hufflepuff on a mission. That very friend had abandoned her for a boy once they had arrived.

So Tilly found herself standing on the outskirts of the hall, feeling awkward and uncomfortable in a royal blue cotton dress. Flowers were worked into her braided hair. She was tempted to escape entirely now that her housemate was nowhere in sight. However, she decided it wouldn’t hurt to stop for treats. Tilly ladled herself a cup of raspberry punch and snatched up a plate of frosted cookies. She munched on the desserts, watching the other students and trying not to be disgusted by the lovey-dovey atmosphere.

@Rita Smile

Rita Smile had calmed down enough to at least go to the dance for food. In reality, Rita wanted to admire the decorations. School events were always extravagant, and Rita enjoyed them. It was the crowds she hated. The most formal item Rita wore was her black slacks. She threw on a white turtleneck sweater and a light hoodie. Black and white were basic colors, and Rita's closet was full of them. The girl picked up a lemon bar and took a bite. "Mmm!" she squealed, jumping on the balls of her feet. She didn't pay attention to or notice the girl next to her—Decorations after a couple more of these. I crown you my new favorite dessert! She smiled.

Tilly nearly jumped in place as the girl next to her had a transformative reaction to the lemon bars. She couldn’t help grinning at the other girl. “That good, huh?” she said, eyeing the table again, wondering if she’d made a mistake with the frosted cookies. Tilly thought she recognized the girl from her classes, but she couldn’t remember her name.

Rita squealed hearing a voice so close to her. She did not remember the girl's name, but she knew that she stared at her in class before. Not creepily. Rita automatically reached out to offer the girl the half-eaten lemon bar. No stranger wants to eat off you, dummy! She scolded herself. Kengi would say something similar to hint he wanted to try her food, so it was a reflex.
