Alexander Carter was lost, and that was the least of his troubles. The dark alley around him seemed quite a bit different from the place he had been hoping to find himself, and he knew that he had most definitely taken a wrong turn somewhere along the line.. and instead of doing the smart thing and turning around he had decided it would have been a glorious idea to head further in and get himself incredibly lost. That was definitely his decision of the day - thinking about it, it's probably my decision of the year - Alex sighed deeply. He had no idea how he was going to get out of here, and he didn't know or recognise anyone who was here. He was the definition of lost, and he didn't know how he would get out of here when he didn't even now what or where here was.

He sighed, rather loudly. Several people looked at him angrily, he had no idea what their problem was; but they definitely didn't look happy with him.. he quickly turned and ran away as fast as he could in the opposite direction, he started to slow down a little bit when he noticed that they weren't following him.. and then tripped over and landed flat on his face. He felt blood trickling down his nose, and started to feel really dizzy.

It was a strange day, she had taken a part time job over the summer helping out at the wand store, and well, it was proving interesting indeed. Victoire had never had a job before and was enjoying both the stabilty which it provided her and the fact she was able to remain in New Zealand, she was with her brother occasionally and wasn't too interested in going back to Belgium like she did every other year. The girl was excited to be doing something different with her time. But, her day had taken a strange turn when she had somehow ended up in Bleak Street. It wasn't somewhere she had ever been before, and really Victoire had been told that if she keep walking she'll be able to use a sort of shortcut to where she was staying, but it wasn't worth it she was beginning to see as she attempted to make her way through the alleyways. Victoire was not the type of person who usually hung out, or stayed in such a place, Victoire believed that she stood out just a little bit too much with her light blonde hair, her paleness and just the fact that unlike some of the people she'd spotted she looked human.

This would've been fine, she would've managed to go the entire way through this dark part of the wizarding area had someone came flying out from a side street eliciting a small scared scream before she noticed that the person had fallen over. She glanced around trying to see if she could spot a second person, even perhaps just to see if this person was safe to approach. She took a few small steps forward, "Are you alright?" she asked slowly, crouching down in front of the boy's face and then from within her bag pulling out a small handkercheif and holding it out to him, "Here, to clean yourself up" she added, looking at him carefully and realising she knew him, he seemed familiar to him. Which was strange because it wasn't Jean, or by extension Lucien whom she imagined was more the type to be here within this alleyway, but he was still familiar to her.

Alex looked up through the blood and the pain as somebody had approached him to see if he was alright and he was a little wary of whether or not she was in fact the person who had been chasing him, and he relaxed a little bit when he realised that she wasn't trying to hurt him and was actually trying to help him. There wasn't many people who would do that anymore. He took the handkerchief and winced as he wiped the blood off, it was really painful to touch and he wasn't really happy about it because he always seemed to find some way to hurt himself whenever he went outside. He sighed to himself, and, remembering that there was someone else there with him, he smiled at her. "Thank you! I'm so clumsy, I always manage to hurt myself somehow." He said with another sigh, it was too true and probably one of the worst things about him.

Alex took a better look at the girl, and noticed that he recognised her from somewhere, and he quickly thought about where to try and figure it out because otherwise it would really bug him if he couldn't figure out where it was from. Oh! He thought to himself as he realised where he knew her from. ""Don't you work at the wand shop as well?" Alex asked politely. He was sure that that was right but he couldn't be completely sure until she either confirmed or denied it for him.

Victoire regretted stepping one foot into this dark alleyway she found herself in, these streets were not for people the likes of her, and yet here she was, helping someone who appeared to be about her age, within this alleyway of sure doom. Her tainted blood which she had been all too aware of during the last year weighing heavily on her mind as she was crouched beside this boy's face, watching him clean up the blood which had been on his nose and coming out of it. She smiled slightly, nodding at him, she didn't know what else she could do about any of it, since she was yet to learn any spells that would help him. The gryffindor teen was just happy to ensure that he was alright and he seemed to be uninjured aside from the bleeding nose, that was the important part after all. Victoire brushed loose strands of her blond hair from her eyes as she glanced around them to the dark hallways, she had that feeling that they were being watched and it unsettled her. She hadn't gone off the idea that the boy was familiar to her, the more she looked at him, the more she was sure that she knew his face and that actually it was someone that she knew. It was a difficult feeling to shake really, she definitely knew him, it was a matter of placing him, placing who this person was and Victoire didn't want to awkward ask where she knew him from, if anywhere. It wasn't a school friend, she couldn't claim to know everyone of course but the school wasn't so huge that she wasn't familiar with faces, so she was sure that he wasn't a school friend.

Thankfully, it only took him telling her for her to realise who he was, it took his move for her to see. A warm smile graced her lips, more friendly than polite, she liked him, now she knew who he was she could assume he was a pretty good guy. He was good to work around from the time they had spent so far, he seemed like a pretty chill sort of person, and Victoire had found one of the good things about working as being able to get to know people. She couldn't remember his name, "You're Alex or something right?" she asked him sure that his name was something like that. She glanced around them and sighed, just really keen to get out of it. To be able to leave, "Are you good to stand or do you need another moment?" she asked him, her french accent playing lightly with her words. Victoire was waiting for his lead, if he wanted to stand she was ready to stand. If he wanted to remain where he was for a few moments then she wouldn't have to move. Everything was fine really currently for her, she had no where to be pressingly and she felt like since she worked with him, she owed him this much, they were co-workers, not quite friends but it was still at this point important to be kind to them.

ahahaha this is awful.

Alex smiled faintly at his co-worker, not sure he would be able to call her his friend, especially since he barely knew her. He had seen her at work, and definitely worked with her, but he hadn't spoken to her other then the occasional 'hello' and 'did you need any help?'. He looked up, looking at her, taking in her features as well as her face, trying to get a read of how comfortable she really felt about this and being here. The first thing he noticed is that she definitely didn't want to be here and she probably hated being where she was; why she was here he had absolutely no idea but it was probably a good reason. He gave her a chuckle as she asked what his name was, and whether it was 'Alex or something'. He was happy that she was right, at least she remembered his name. He remembered hers, roughly.. Victoria? Victory? Victoire! He wondered if she went to the school, she probably did, he would be going there next year and he was excited about that. He hoped he would have a friend at the least, maybe she could be his first friend from the school; that would be great!

Alex was happy that she had stayed with him to try and see if he was better. "Yes, my name is Alex! You are Victoire right?" He asked, with a smile. He was hopeful that she would become on of his first friends and quite possibly his only friend going into Hogwarts, but he was hopeful that he would be able to make some more friends; at least if he didn't trip and fall into the lake and drown. He frowned a little bit at that thought, as if that would happen.. surely someone would help him, at least? "Umm, yeah I should be alright." He said, as he slowly started to stand up. When he was on his feet, he smiled at her. "Is there somewhere you needed to be? I'd be happy to escort you there. I might end up falling over 50 times and hurting myself more then they hurt me, but I would try my best!" He said, with a smile, a hint of a laugh on his lips.

Victoire smiled at him, though she felt uncomfortable in this place, she was doing her best to not have it show too much. Instead she focused her attention and eye sight on to him. He seemed friendly enough, was a little bit quiet worked pretty hard from what she had seen about him. He wasn't the only person that she had gotten to know since beginning working but it was definitely good fun to be slowly getting to know these people even if it was just through small conversations and little bits and pieces, which was good enough for her as she was gaining in confidence, she was experiencing something she had never experienced before. She was finding out that she really liked wands and everything they seemed to do. It was easier for her to follow what they were saying and she was getting better at picked the wands, though it usually took a couple of tries before she got it. She smiled at Alex, who along with confirming his own name, managed to remember hers, and in the correct language too, some people she'd met called her Victoria, because that was the english version of her name, just not the version she used, "Yes, Victoire," She told him with a small nod.

Victoire nodded at him when he said that he was alright, perhaps aside from the little bit of blood the only thing that was really harmed was his pride. She followed his lead as he slowly began to stand. She smiled at him as she did so, not sure what else to say, and thankful that he had decided to say something, she didn't like the use of the word escort, because Victoire felt she was more than capable of being able to do so herself, but she wouldn't mind the company and in a place like this, with her being a muggleborn she really didn't want to have to linger around, "I wouldn't mind the company," she said rubbing her arms, not wanting to appear overly eager for the company but more than happy to be walking with someone else, this was a dark place and she wasn't too interested in getting lost. She just had to follow the instructions she had been given and she knew she would be fine, not that she would stay long enough to find out if she wouldn't be. The moment something scared her she did plan to just make a break for it, now with him she realised that she could not, "I don't have far to go, I think," Victoire shrugged at him before beginning walking, not wanting to linger much more.

Alex smiled at his new companion, she seemed nice enough and she seemed happy that he had gotten her name right. She seemed to have a difficult name to remember, at least that was the case in his mind so it made a lot of sense to him that people would get it wrong from time to time. He knew that if he hadn't worked with her and heard her name at least a few times a day he would have gotten it wrong, or thought she had said Victoria when she had told it to him. He chuckled a little, he was happy that he had gone out today because he had possibly found himself a new friend, and he was always interested in those.

"You have a super awesome name!" Alex said with a grin, and he was being honest, the name was so cool and sort of mysterious for him so it was something new and something nice. He liked it. The funny thing was he was lost himself but he was offering to help his companion find her way through the alley. He held back a smile at that. "How do you like Ollivanders?" Alex asked with genuine curiosity, he wasn't just making small talk. He held back a frown as well as a laugh when she mentioned that she thought she only had a small bit to go. "I'd be happy to accompany you however short the walk is." Alex said.

Victoire couldn't help but blush slightly at the compliment about her name, she liked her name, thinking it pretty good but she wasn't sure how much she liked getting compliments on it just yet. But, rather than lingering on such a thought, the girl just met his gaze and returned a warm smile. The girl didn't entirely know where she was going to get out of this place, but she had a fair idea of where she needed to go, it was just a matter of following the instructions she had been given and soon she'd be out of this place. Soon, she'd be able to breath completely comfortably and not worry about some evil guys with wands out cursing at her. She knew that if they somehow managed to know about her it wouldn't end well. But, since she was now wiht someone else that might make them less inclined to attack in any definition of the word. The girl nodded at him, and then beginning to walk down the path, "It's good fun," she started, thinking that this wasn't perhaps the best thing to say, she didn't know how else to explain how she found it without getting too excited about it. It was interesting, it was fantastic, it was everything that she wanted from a winter job.

"It's amazing, I love being in amongst just that magnitude of magic," she told him, trying to hide the excitement and wonder within her voice but managing it about as well as a crazed sweet loving child would act in the world's biggest candy store, "There is just something about it, I love helping the first years get their wands, just the looks on their faces when they finally have the right one, it makes it completely worth it," For Victoire it wasn't even about being paid, she didn't care much for that, she was more interested in being able to just being able to help out those little first years, "I'm glad for the company, Alex," she smiled happily, moving in the direction that she was sure she needed to head, holding her head up high, oozing with the confidence she was trying to show she had. If she looked like she belonged it would be better, she was a gryffindor after all, she could do this with ease, "How do you like it?" she asked him, "You're name, Alex, it is short for something, yes?" she added curiosity getting the better of her.

Alex definitely agreed with how she felt about Olivanders. It was such an amazing atmosphere there, and getting to help new people finding possibly the most important tool of their wizarding lives was the best feeling of all. He remembered the feeling when he had gotten his first wand and he knew it had been a great feeling for himself to get it and he loved that he was able to help other people feel like that. He smiled to himself, and nodded at Victoire. "It's great, right?" He said, the hint of a laugh in his voice. It was an awesome job, and he hoped he could work there for a while even those he was still quite young, and even though he couldn't imagine himself being there for a long time, it was definitely a good start and a step in the right direction for his future.

Alex glanced at Victoire, "I love it! It's so fun and it makes you feel awesome helping out the little first years to be get their first wands. I'm sure you remember how you felt getting your first wand, it's such a hard to explain feeling but it's also such an awesome feeling." Alex was worried he was getting a little too weird, but he didn't really care at the same time because it was something that he was passionate about, sort of. You couldn't really say it was passionate but it was something that was nice to him. Maybe you could say he was pro-wand? Who knows. He frowned a little bit when she asked if his name was short for something. "Yeah, Alexander. It's such an ugly name and I hate it." He said, a little coldly. He wasn't angry with her or anything, he was just definitely passionate about hating his name.

Victoire was glad that he seemed to be on the same page as her about this whole wand job, she thought it was pretty obvious considering that since he was working there also that he would enjoy the job, that would enjoy everything that it had to offer him in the same way that she did. Being from a non-magical family, the process of getting the wand had just been amazing, she had nothing else to compare it to with just sheer amazing, it had been simple, but amazing. She couldn't sometimes believe that people didn't think that the wand part of becoming a witch or wizard was the post important, what house you were in didn't matter after school, the wand was what connected any of them to the world of magic. Without her wand, she had no connection to the world, without getting the wand, her magic would've just roamed free. She loved her own wand, and wanted to pass that on to other people. She nodded at him, loving his passion, she since felt it too. She could feel it in his words, she knew it was true in her heart too. You couldn't be passionate about wands and working in Ollivanders, it just didn't work.

At his words she shook her head, wondering if she had offended him, "Alexandre le grand," she said to him, pronouncing it in french rather than in English switching with ease to that, she had always enjoyed the stories of him, and wondered if perhaps the slightly change and association of his name would make him feel a little more warm about it, "Roi Alexandre," she said to him with a smile, before switching back to english, "My surname is Fontaine, and my middle name is Oceane, my middle and last name literally translate to ocean fountain," she laughed slightly as she spoke, she didn't particularly enjoy the way her names lined up in such a sense that just didn't make any sense, "I am the only one of my family with this," she laughed lightly, brushing stray strands of her blond hair from her eyes, "Roi Soleil, you got any middle names? Or are you just a first and a last name kind of man?" she smirked at him, as they kept moving.

Alex blushed a little bit when she began speaking her name in french, and in seemingly a completely different way. He had no idea what they meant, though; but he was almost certain that they were meant in a good way. Especially since the first one contained 'la grand'. He gave a slight chuckle, and an accompanying smile. She was being really sweet to him, trying to make him feel better about his name; which he hated because of his parents and how they always called him by his full name whenever he was in trouble, and with them it always seemed like he was in trouble and he hated that the most. They were always so mean to him and he wished they would just be nice to him for one day of his life. He sighed deeply to himself, and gave Victoire a half smile.

Alex was really curious what those names meant, and he had no idea how to speak french; he wondered if it was some secret or some historical name that she liked. He chuckled a little bit. "What do those names mean?" Alex asked, hoping that she would tell him and not keep it to herself as some kind of secret. They all sounded so cool and he wanted to know what they meant, but he wouldn't be upset if she didn't tell him because it was up to her completely. He smiled when she mentioned the meaning of her names, holding back a laugh. It was kinda cool but pretty funny at the same time. "That's such an odd name, but it's also really cool!" He said, the hint of a laugh on his voice. "I only have a first and last name, really boring right?" He asked with a laugh.

Victoire often forgot that people didn't always understand what she meant when she spoke in french. It was easier when she was with Jean, they spoke french together, and when they spoke english usually it was easier to understand, the odd words which she usually forgot and just slipped with ease back into french were perfectly understood by him. The young Gryffindor couldn't help but think of him in that moment, it was a natural response to the fact that french had come up in the conversation and really Victoire still had these feelings for him that she had no idea what to do with. She liked him, as perhaps a little more than a friend, but she couldn't see them ever being together, she couldn't imagine having to deal with his brother, just the thought made her shudder, but she couldn't be thinking of that, not while walking with Alex, since he seemed like a really lovely person and she didn't want to talk Jean. She smiled at Alex as he asked what the names meant, "Well, Alexander the great, the emperor," she first explained, and then "Roi, means king, so King Alexander, then Roi Soleil, is sun king, often a name used for King Louis the fourteen of France," she explained to him, though it didn't necessarily explain why she had called him any of it.

Victoire was glad that he seemed to like the humour of what she was saying about her own names, she had always found it funny, her youngest brother had two names from Les Miserables, and her other brother two names of French kings, "Mine is the only one of my family's names that translate like that, I have two brothers, one is called Louis-Philippe Henri, after two french kings, which is funny when you consider we're not actually French, and my other brother is called Tholomyès Marius, which is two names from Les Miserables," she grinned at him and then shrugged slightly, finding it pretty funny, it seemed like her father had taken any opportunity to put any name on his children, "It was a nightmare to introduce us to people, Victoire, Louis-Philippe and Tholomyès," when she said there names in one quick go it did seem like a mouthful, and Victoire couldn't help but laugh, she just smiled at him warmly, nodding her head ever so slightly, "Sometimes Roi Soleil it is better to not have any middle names,"

Alex was surprised when she told him what the two names meant, and they were actually huge compliments and improvements of his own name. It was kind of sweet, to say the least. He was happy that she had tried to make him feel better about his name, and he was thankful that his new friend was as nice as she was. She seemed to be a really good person and maybe he had been fortunate to fall over and nearly break his nose. To be honest, it still hurt a little bit but he wasn't going to ruin the day by complaining any more then he already have, he just smiled at her. "That's sweet of you to call me that, thank you." He said with a bright smile on his face. He was having a good time today.

Alex chuckled when she mentioned the names of herself and her siblings, they had such cool names but at the same time they seemed like a complete nightmare to even so much as remember any of them, let alone have to say them on a regular basis. His eyes widened a little bit at the thought, he wasn't sure he would be able to manage anything like that on a day-to-day basis, he would rather name his kids something simple like.. George.. or Henry.. those were all perfectly acceptable names which made sense to him and he could pronounce. "It sounds like a nightmare to say any of them let alone put them all together at once." He said with a laugh and then frowned a little bit. "Well my Dad just wanted to be simple with my name. I wish it was a little more interesting. Alexander is an ugly name, but all of your variations are amazing." He said with a small sigh.

Victoire just shrugged at him, it wasn't really a matter of cute, those were just two nicknames that she was beginning to suit him, though he really seemed against his name, Alexander, he seemed to really hate it, and Victoire while curious about why wasn't going to try and find out. She didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or bad if she was digging too deep in. She enjoyed the way he chuckled and smiled at what she was saying, she honestly couldn't believe what her parents had called her and her brothers, it just seemed a little beyond her really. It was silly names, she knew it was just funny, that's how she saw it, "Complicated names, which are more difficult to say in this country, they were easier back home," she told him laughing slightly. Then listening to him talk about his names, she smiled at him, liking that he enjoyed the variations and figured it was as good a confirmation as any to keep calling him that. She had always loved her name, and she couldn't imagine not liking it, and really she couldn't imagine her father keeping it non-complicated.

"You can change your name when you come of age, make it something ridiculous and fun," she told him grinning at him, "Change your name to Roi Soleil, imagine the amount of confusion you could cause people, and they'd have to call you that because it would be your name," she told him thinking of how fun it would be to change your name. She knew that she never would, but perhaps it was something he thought he might do, "You're homeschooled right? I'm sure I overheard you saying that," she told him, wondering if perhaps he would be coming to Hogwarts New Zealand in the next term, she would like another friend at school, she liked Jean, and Perseas but part of her just wanted something else, someone else to talk to. She was still crushing on Jean and nothing could come of it, more friends was exactly what she needed, and not just needed but actually wanted.

Alex smiled at her, she seemed to enjoy her names for him, which is all that really mattered; he didn't mind the names at all and as long as she was happy with him he was happy for her to use them for him. Alexander was a perfectly respectable name, after all, it just wasn't really a name that he enjoyed using for himself. He rathered the more simpler 'Alex', and all of Victoire's variations added a sort of flare to his name and made him feel like he was a much cooler person then he actually was, which wasn't really cool at all. He was a pretty lame guy, and the clumsiest person you would ever meet in your life, but that was who he was and he wouldn't try and change it for the world. "I could imagine that they would be easier. Maybe I should learn french one day so I actually understand." Alex said with a smile on his face. It would be an interesting experience to learn another language, to say the least.

Alex briefly considered her words; would he really go as far as to change his name just because he didn't like it? It was the name that was chosen for him at his birth and it was a part of who he was now. He enjoyed the shortened version of Alex and he could just introduce himself as 'Alex Carter' instead of 'Alexander' and then nobody would even know his full name unless he told them. He chuckled at the thought, it was so secretive! "I couldn't imagine just changing my name like that, that would be so odd. I've had this name for so long and although I don't like it it would be weird to call myself someone else." He said, saying someone else because he would feel like a completely different person. That was a really strange thought to him. He gave her a warm smile at her next words. "Yeah, I'm being home schooled currently. I'm hoping to go to Hogwarts this coming year. Do you attend there?" He asked, almost certain that she did but he couldn't remember to be certain.

The young gryffindor just continued smiling at him, when he said that maybe he should learn french one day, she couldn't help but think it was funny that he would learn another language just so he could understand her, so instead she just grinned at him, and then proceeded to introduce herself in Flemish, Dutch, and slightly broken German, before grinning widely at him, "Sticking to english is fine," she told him grinning brightly, Victoire's family were from the french area of Belgium but her mother had been from the Flemish area, and they had learned Dutch in School, part of her family had even lived in the German area, Victoire had been surrounded from an early age with many languages all around her, it was natural that she'd picked up quite a few, "I'm really only good at Flemish, French and English, my brother was always the language guy," she told him with a smile, as if trying to excuse what had likely been a terrible accent. Victoire hadn't much use for anything besides English in this country, though she mostly talked with Jean in French which was always nice, she did miss speaking her native language when she couldn't.

Upon hearing that he wouldn't change his name, she had to agree which she did so with a small shrug, it was always an option open to him, if he so desired it. She didn't mind her name, though for the english aspect she had always though about going by Victoria, since it was the same name, just the english version of it, but she figured that people could learn to pronounce Victoire with ease, it wasn't like it was really that complicated, "It is an option, if ever" she told him with a friendly and encouraging smile. The conversation moved on, and she was happy to hear that he was trying to get into Hogwarts, "I hope you get it," she told him, before nodding, "Yeah, Fifth year, Gryffindor. Do you know which house you want to be sorted into if you get in?" she asked him, naturally curious about it, she didn't know if they went through the same process as the first years, or if it was slightly different, could the hat be more accurate since the incoming students were older and more sure of themselves than the arriving first years? "Are you from New Zealand?" she asked, Victoire had slight difficulties distinguishing accents of english speakers, so it never in her situation hurt to ask.

Alex just gave her a weird look, but not a bad kind of weird look just a confused kind of look. He would have liked to make it easier for her because he could understand what it would be like to come from another country where you had gotten so used to speaking a certain language and you then had to change to another language all for the sake of the other person understanding you. It wasn't for your benefit at all, you had to change your life for the sake of other people and that was a terrifying thought; that somebody else had more control over your life in that moment then you did. Just once, Alex wanted to make somebody else's life easier by making a sacrifice for the sake of them. He had just met the girl, but everyone deserved that chance at least once. He gave her a bright smile.

He didn't really know what house he wanted to end up in at Hogwarts, it was a tough decision. He could be any of the houses, and he hated being put on the spot like he would have been with the sorting hat so he doubted that he would have been really comfortable with being up there infront of all of the students. He sighed to himself a little bit, it was a scary thought. "I'm not really sure what house I would fit into. I have qualities for all of the houses that I have noticed so it would be a really tough choice for me to make." He said, really not sure about how it would go. "At least if I get in I'll have a friend." He said, smiling at her. He nodded at her next question. "Yes, I'm from New Zealand!" He said with a smile.

Victoire was thoroughly looking forward to having a new friend once she got to school, well when she got back, when he hopefully arrived at school, she looked at him up and down, thinking he might just make a good gryffindor, after all he was here with her, rather than having left the moment that he had been fine. Which she appreciated, though she was certain she would be able to look after herself she was glad he stuck with her, there was strength in numbers, and more than that there was strength in knowing when to invite someone else along. There was strength in realising when one needed a little extra help. The girl glanced at him again as he spoke, unsure about the house, "I think you'd make a good gryffindor," she told him with a nod of her head, as if incredibly certain about this fact. She was really looking forward to being able to hopefully spend more time with her new friend at school, and if they were in the same house then that was even better. The girl smiled broadly at him, "You'd definitely make a good gryffindor," she reconfirmed with a nod of her head, as if now very satisfied with that choice.

Victoire had thought him from New Zealand, but she wondered why his parents hadn't opted to send him to Hogwarts New Zealand until now, surely it would've been easier for him to get in when he was young at the age of eleven like most other students, "Whereabouts? Like north or south Island?" she asked him, since he had been non-specific about where he was from and the naturally curious girl was as ever curious. She gave him a small smile and then continued on, "I'm from Belgium originally, but my family moved to Australia just before I turned eleven," she told him giving him a warm smile, she would've then chosen then as the time to tell him about the fact her parents were non magically but a strange and creepy looking man passing them made her think twice about that. Instead she just smiled at him, "If you don't mind my asking, why did you wait till now to go to school?" she didn't mean to be fishing for information, but she was just curious about it, and she felt like if he didn't want to answer it, he would just shut her down.

Alex was looking forward to going to Hogwarts in the year, it would be a fun year and a nice change and it was definitely something that he would be excited to try and see how much better it was being a Hogwarts then being stuck at home with stupid parents who barely taught him anything about magic. They always kept the fun out of things and he basically just did theory work and occasional practice of spells, he wasn't even allowed to practice unless they were able to watch him. It was basically pathetic and basically the biggest waste of time ever. They were quite possibly the worst parents ever and he was so happy that he had the chance to go to a real school where he would learn from people who actually wanted him to learn as much as he wanted to learn. "Gryffindor would be a nice house, I guess we'll just have to wait and see." He said with a smile.

Alex hadn't just been from just one place in New Zealand, he had been all around New Zealand, from north to south to east to west, and he had basically been everywhere at least once. He remembered all of the places, and it had been so annoying having to always move and he resented his parents in part because of it. He felt a lot more comfortable in one place, because he had previous memories there and he didn't like that he was 'forced' to move around. He would we happy to get away. "Everywhere, pretty much. I've moved so many times it's not even funny.." He said with a sigh. He listened as she explained that she had done a fair bit of moving herself, maybe she understood his pain as well then. He just gave her a smile when she asked about why he hadn't been enrolled in school yet. "My parents didn't want me to learn." He said with a frown.

Victoire now really wanted him to end up in Gryffindor with him, she wanted to show him all of the places in school, just everything that she could think of, no rock, or place should be left untouched in her mind when showing him around, she really wanted to just be able to show him part of her world. The girl wouldn't wait to allow him to see every little area of it, she thought it would be amazing, and any extra help she was also more than willing to provide, she'd been at the school a few years more than him and was happy to just be able to give him any extra help with things he might not have been able to leave prior to being at the school. The girl smiled happily at him, "We shall, but I'm rooting for you to be with me in Gryffindor," she told him smiling in a friendly fashion at him, enjoying this time that she was spending with him currently, she maybe lacked some friends, but she was glad to be able to hang out with him, it was good fun, and making this walk through the creepiness of these far more bearable.

The girl listened as he talked about living just about everywhere, from his tone, she imagined that perhaps his life hadn't been as easy as hers had been, her move had been the necessary thing for her father's work and before that it was pretty plain sailing, and what he said following definitely made her regret her questions, "Oh Roi Soleil," she said, "You shall be learning soon!" she said to him with a small smile, she didn't mean to pity him, but she did, she couldn't help it, "My father used to always say a good education is wasted on women, his face when I was a witch and going to magical school was priceless, and when his precious first born son wasn't," she told him, trying to make him see that she knew what it was like in a way, just not exactly like he had known it. Victoire really wanted to help Alex when he got to the school, she really did, "If you get into the school, and need any extra help, I'm more than willing to give you a hand," she told him grinning at him as she said this, which she would likely do.

Alex smiled when she mentioned that she wanted him to be in Gryffindor with her, it would be cool if he was in the same house as his new friend. It would be a nice change, and a cool way for him to get settled into his new school. He hoped that he would know at least one or two people when he got into the school and it would be a fun thing for him to know people and actually have something and someone that he would be able to relate to. He smiled to himself at the thought of that, he was looking forward to going to school and actually learning things for a change; and being able to get away from his parents. It would be nice for him to learn the things that he was meant to have learned such a long time ago, like he struggled with basic magic because of his parents. It was embarassing. "I'd like that." He said, he'd love to be in her house.

Alex gave her a kind look, he knew that she more than likely probably meant it. He appreciated that someone was willing to help him, because his parents sure hadn't been. "Are you sure that you want to do that? I'm gonna be a lot of work. My parents barely taught me anything. I struggle with even the most basic spells." He said with a sigh. It was more than true, he couldn't even muster any of the advanced spells for first year students. Alex gave a half smile to Victoire, he didn't really want her pity.. but at the end of the day, he would be happy to accept her help. He knew he would need all the help he could get.

Victoire was fairly certain that they were close to where they needed to be, she was feeling pretty good with that, she smiled at him, and just wished that he would join her in the house, but really the girl knew that she would be pleased for him to just be at Hogwarts with her. She grinned at him, before nodding. He didn't seem sure of himself at all, and Victoire knew that this was an important thing for her to help with, she had known in a way the way that parents could force their own views upon their children, and this had been the case with Alex, "I wouldn't mind at all," she told him honestly with a smile which seemed to show just that she was really meaning what she was saying, there might've been pity within her, but she wanted to help him, she wanted to be able to do good things for her new friend, "Oh, Roi Soleil, trust me, I will help you, you'll be caught up in no time!" she assured him, "It's just a little longer, but we should go for ice cream some time," she told him, "And you let me know the minute you find out about Hogwarts right?"
