Gryffindors from both houses

"Good grief no" James laughed, "we just wanted the honour of practising with you guys. We certainly didn't think of taking over positions or having actual game time though that would be cool. Bruin is the captain here so if you need us man to act as subs throughout the year feel free to throw us in. Will warn you though, Saks is useless at everything but keeper, its some sort of territorial thing with her. Thats why she doesn't let a goal in".
He nearly rocked himself laughing off his broom but managed to balance himself again perfectly.
"Any time Cyndi, I know we've got the OWL's this year and Merlin knows I could do with the extra study but flying and quidditch comes first".

Cyndi rolled her eyes as she heard James mention OWLS, but laughed when he said flying came first. "Glad to hear your priorities are straight" Cyndi said sarcastically.

Cyndi kept her eye on Bruin wondering whether he would take the lead or not after hearing what James said.

Hilary loosened up a little after she heard that they were not there to announce the take over of positions. She found it almost funny that James found Quidditch more important than than his owls, but it sounded like a few people she knew. "Okay so we don't exactly have that vigourous of a practice schedule, I seem to remember that last practice we played Quaffle hot potato." Hilary said this with a joking tongue sticking out to Bruin. She had plenty of respect for her captain but had always found that when practices and relationships were fun that the team would work better together.

Bruin had always doubted his ability to be a Quidditch Captain, essentially having being thrust into the role without having had the benefit of seeing a real game played. His strengths had always been in improvising, team building, ane perhaps, a little bit of strategy. As he listened, he had to confess that James appeared to have a much more structured idea at how to run practices. In truth, he didn't really know how to answer James' question about how they did practice sessions...they just kind of happened and they made do with whatever numbers they had.

Bruin couldn't help but laugh at some of James' comments, particularly his teasing of Sakura. He enjoyed a little playful ribbing of his teammates from time to time himself. "Well, to be honest I'm fresh out of ideas..." Bruin replied tenatively. "Unless we start with two teams of a seeker, keeper and beater each and then have the chasers just go up and down the pitch, alternating trying to score on each keeper or something?" He offered uncertainly. "We may have another couple players coming, but I don't know for sure given the short notice.

"Soundin' good Captn'" Hilary said with a southern accent. She really was looking forward to seeking against James and prooving even just to herself of why she deserved her place on the team.

Kat listened as everyone conversed around her. She was slightly overwhelmed at how many new people she was getting to know all at once and it made her a bit nervous. She wasn't what one would call a social butterfly, but she figured this was the year she'd try new things. "I'm up for anything that you guys are!" she said brightly. Well that sounded stupid she thought to herself, shaking her head. Kat decided just to sit and wait quietly until she was instructed on what to do.

James smiled at the eagerness of all the Gryffindor team that had gathered round Bruin, their captain. It looked like he had a good enough team anyhow, eagerness and a willingness to play was half the battle.
"Sounds good to me Bruin, do you want to name your teams then? I'm quite happy to go against Saks for a change should make for interesting play anyhow" he laughed.

Sakura was definitely game to play it the way Bruin was, wincing slightly though when he mentioned how much short notice they had for today.
"Sorry about that, we could have shown up instead on one of your actual practise sessions but we just needed to be sure first that you guys would let us practise with you" she completely ignored James trying to get in his usual dig at her expense, knowing it was all in jest only.

She liked this group, well knitted team by the looks of it. Sometimes she felt their own team would fall apart due to the rigorous regime that James pushed on them but they like herself were dedicated at least to the House and the team, whatever about their captain. Anarchy in the offing and she knew it was coming, part of her was dreading going back home. Not knowing what condition the team would be in or what decisions they would have made. Of course they were a keeper and seeker down. How would they fair out like that, would they even try to play a game against one of the other houses? It was doubtful, they had been told quidditch would be off for the year so hopefully no one would take it upon themselves to organise a game.

Andromeda simply hovered on her broom as everyone discussed what they would be doing for todays session. She was pysched and totally pumped for this. If James wanted to be on the opposite team to Sakura didn't that mean he would be on the same team as her. Her mouth fell open, if possible she could have trapped some flies.

Cyndi smiled as Bruin quickly came up with an idea of how to start a game. "Whatever you say, Captain" Cyndi said as she waited to find out which team she would be on.

Hilary continued to smile at the group listening to the different members. She wanted to know what everyone else was thinking and feeling about the subject. She simply floated in the air waiting for Bruin to name his teams.

Bruin was glad to see that everyone appeared to be so agreeable with his suggestion, but knew that if he had Cyndi and Mike playing as the two Beaters that he would once again be playing out of position at Chaser. He wanted to make a good impression on the visitors and knew that he would never be as comfortable at any of the other positions as he was roving the pitch with his Beater's bat in hand. He'd need to see if Mike or Cyndi would consider a position change before their next practice, but for now would just suck it up and see what happened.

"Alright, how about we try Saks, Mike and Hilary at the South End of the Pitch versus Andromeda, Cyndi and James. Kat, Keira and I will be the Chasers and will alternate trying to score on the different Keepers. If a Keeper makes a save or a Beater knocks the Quaffle out of our hands, we will switch direction right away." Bruin said as he pointed in the directions of each end as he named the teams. "If anyone else shows up, we'll split the Chasers up evenly between the two teams and start fresh...fair enough?" Bruin added as he began his descent towards the equipment shed.

Bruin often felt weird ordering people around, especially people he considered friends, but his team had always seemed to be receptive to his brand of leadership and he hoped that this continued. The last thing that Bruin wanted was a team that was resentful of not feeling like they were all equals. He dismounted and took his Quidditch Trunk out of the shed, listening all the while for any comments or questions from the rest of the group.

The Snitch quivered in anticipation as the lid of the trunk opened, almost sensing that this practice would be a little different than others. The Snitch burst from the trunk as the flap that covered its resting place in the trunk was shifted aside and headed straight up and into the glorious sunshine high above the pitch. Any Seekers who hoped to catch it would have to be on their game today.

(out of character - not sure just how familiar James and Saks might be with the rules that we use here, but we will have the Snitch and Bludgers appear from time to time and RP where they are on the Pitch. There are some rules for how to post catching the snitch and how to be hit or avoid being hit by the bludger. Feel free to ask questions as we go)

The Bludger strained against the straps that held it firmly in place within the trunk until, at last, it was free to pursue the havoc and carnage that it enjoyed so thoroughly. The Bludger burst from the trunk and headed quickly towards the North End of the pitch, likely to do a rather composed lap of the pitch before settling on its first target.

Starting Location: Ground at Midfield

Bruin had just released the Snitch and one Bludger and was ready to start the game. He tucked the Quaffle under his right arm and mounted his broom, kicking off with reckless abandon and flying up to meet the others. Seeing that the others had more or less settled into their respective positions, Bruin spun towards the south side of centre, figuring that he'd like to keep the Bludger in front of him for the time being, particularly as he didn't have his Beater's bat in hand at the moment. Bruin smiled at Kiera and Kat. This was going to be fun.

"Alright you lot. Here we go. How about a little Fox Sneak 52 with a side of Grizzly Paw to start?" Bruin suggested with a wink as he tossed the Quaffle to Kiera. If the HS crew wanted to see how they did things on this side of the equator, the Pride might as well oblige.

Team: (don't know our teams name - on the north side anyhow)
Position: seeker
Points: 200
starting position: NNE

James made his way to the North end of the pitch with the team he was allocated to. After smiling at each one and wishing them a good game, he spun his broom around to make himself ready for the play. He watched as Bruin released the bludger and snitch. Tiny little critter, he kept an eye for all of a few seconds on Hilary to see what she would do. James did what he always did, flew up high and hovered. Hoping he would not be in the way of the bludger if it came soaring in his direction, goodness knew it had fairly leapt out of its chest to be free. Determined beyond a doubt, well so was he. Somehow he felt as if he needed to prove himself to this group, he didn't know why he just felt he must. He heard Bruin shout out some animal names and numbers and didn't know what to think, obviously some coded strategy. He better watch himself here then.

Andromeda was hyper excited she was on the same team as James Potter. She knew of course she would have to calm herself down and focus but that was pretty hard when you got to be on his team. She circled the hoops keeping an eye on the bludger that was making its way north side and noticed that they first game of play seemed to be coming in her direction. Bruin had just tossed the quaffle to Kiera.
"Oh crap!" she grinned manuevering herself out infront of the hoops.
"Bring it on" she laughed.

The wind whipped around her deliciously as she made her way to the scoring area appointed to her. The adrenaline was builing inside her already as it always did when she was preparing for a game or right smack in the middle of one. She was so pumped to play and this was so evident as she swerved her broom steadily yet with gusto infront of the hoops on the South side scoring area. Hovering on her streak, she balanced herself perfectly as she reached up to pull down her goggles once done she pulled her gloves out from her back pocket and slipped them on.

She knew from experience that some quaffles were thrown with about as much force as a bludger was beaten and if she didn't protect her hands they would ache like crazy afterwards. Reminding herself to pass this tip along to the young keeper at the other end of the pitch when the game was through, she smiled now at her enthusiasm. Looking about she noted where James had gone, predictable as ever he had risen slightly above the line of vision inorder to spot the snitch. Listening to Bruin as he passed the quaffle to one of the girls, Kiera it sounded like some strange code.

"Hey Bruin are you ordering take out or playing the game" she may not have a glimmer what he had just said but she knew her job and she did it well. Time to bring it on alright as the opposing keeper had shouted. She gripped her broom now with both hands and prepared herself for whatever happened, unfortunately it seemed play was going in the opposite direction for now, but better to stay focused all the same.

Cyndi was happy to find herself on the same team as Andy and James. She had always had a good team practicing with Andy as the keeper and she wanted to see how James played.

Cyndi saw the bludger flying near her. It didn't seem to have picked a specific target so Cyndi thought she would just keep an eye on it for now and make sure it didn't go after James.

{OOC - Sorry for the delay in getting the practice going. I didn't realize that Kiera wasn't likely to be available when I tossed her the Quaffle. If anyone wants to RP knocking it off line and then Kat or I can pick it up and start the play up again, please feel free.

BTW - Everyone seems to be posting their actions beautifully with our rules}

Kiera laughed as Bruin tossed her the Quaffle. She caught it and hopped on her broom. She winked at Andy when she heard the girl's comment. She decided to head towards the girl from Hogwarts Scottland. They wanted to show them how they did it on this side of the Equator right?

Kiera grinned at Bruin and Kat. "Yall ready?" she asked quietly. She turned towards Sakura. A mischevious smile lit her face.

Andromeda let out a relieved sigh as she saw Kiera turn in the opposite direction. Well goodluck Sakura. She tried desperately herself to remember what the Fox Sneak and Grissly Paw were, she had all of these learnt off and typical that when it came down to putting them into actual play she came up a blank. Hovering infront of the center hoop she watched the play in motion.
