Teddy was feeling nervous excitement stood at the edge of the Quidditch pitch greeting his teammates and the hopefuls as they arrived. This was his final year and it meant a lot to him. When he joined the team as a second year, Gryffindor always lost, until he took over as co-captain with Fraser two years ago. Since then they had been undefeated champions. Fraser graduated and now Teddy had one shot at keeping Gryffindor at the top before he graduated himself. There was a lot riding on who he picked today. He took a deep breath then stood tall to open tryouts.

"All right, listen up lions,” he called out to get everyone's attention, speaking again when the chatter had died down, “I’m Teddy Pirrip, the Gryffindor captain. I've been captain for two years and Gryffindor has won the championship two years running. I am looking for a team that is totally committed to keeping that title." He said matter of factly, "I'm looking for the best of the best of Gryffindor has to offer and if you're not 100% committed to being a champion, do us a favour and go back to the common room. Those of you who are, give me everything you got out there and work as a team. I'll be watching.” He took out his clipboard to get started, taking down the names and positions of hopefuls trying out today.

Returning team members must post to keep their spot on the team.
Alternates must try out again (sorry)!

First years are not allowed to try out unless there are still spaces that need to be filled. If you have a first year that's interested PM me first and I will let you know if/when you can post.

Felix was obviously trying out again for Seeker. He'd tried out every year, even his first, and while he was glad to have been an alternate last year that didn't stop him from one day wanting the permenant spot. "Felix, trying out for Seeker," he grinned at Teddy, who he now looked at through slightly different eyes given he'd seen the Captain in his own house. It was a strange as catching his primary school teachers at the supermarket or in a library, where it suddenly occurred to him that they had a life of their own outside school.

Felix knew he was committed to being on the team, and given he'd caught the snitch five times during practice last year he felt as though he was in a good position to prove himself even more this year. Taking to the skies, he gave the others a moment to get into their positions before he got the go ahead to start searching for the snitch. It was tricky at first, but as the time went on his eyes began to adjust more and more to the movements of the tiny golden ball.

By the time he came back to the ground, Felix was a little moist on the forehead but he'd managed to catch the snitch thrice for his efforts. He took a seat on the benches to watch the rest of the tryouts, paying particular attention to Aroha, to see how she was going to fair this year.

Ares hadn't really thought about trying out specifically, until he realised over the break he didn't really have many hobbies or things he looked forward to at school. He liked animals, and working with animals, but it wasn't as though he was going to be doing much of that, and especially not before his third year. If he was going to find his place at Hogwarts he needed to find out what else he was good at.

He'd already had a little experience with Quidditch. Mom used to let Ares and his older sisters fly in the garden when they were younger, and with both Demi and Echo having played at one time or another for their house, perhaps it was in his blood too to at least give it a try. He'd pondered for a while over what position would suit him the best, but ultimately he'd landed on the one that would cause the most hassle to others. "Ares Zephyr. Beater." Did he expect to get on the team? Not really, he was one of the babies of the school, but it didn't mean he couldn't try it out.

Taking the bat, Ares mounted his broom and rose into the air. He hoped one day he'd be able to knock Freddie's sister off her broom, for the time being he'd have to target those in his own house. He smacked a few bludgers about, his aim not exactly on point, but it certainly could have been worse. It was hard to fly one handed, but he figured he'd have to get used to that no matter what position he was playing. By the time the tryouts were finished, he was positively exhausted as he made his way back up to the castle.

Aroha had been a winner, she'd been a loser. She seemed to manage to catch the snitch in games where they were against other Hogwarts houses but once out against the international students, well, that wasn't as successful. She tried not to let it bother her as she stepped onto the pitch to show her skill off once more. Aroha knew that Felix was a strong contender for her spot and in a way she felt good knowing that at least when she was gone from Gryffindor, she'd have someone good in her place. Despite all that, Aroha wasn't known to be complacent and never failed at being competitive when it came to quidditch. She took to the skies, trying to catch the snitch before Felix and getting in as many catches as she could. She managed four times, one more than Felix (yes, she was keeping count) at the very last second. Aroha was out of breath a little when she got back down to the ground but knew she'd have to try harder in practice.

Peregrine had done a bit of quidditch practice over the break, in part because Percy wanted to play and in part because she wanted to make the team. She'd missed out last time, but she hadn't been particularly confident in her quidditch skills anyway. But since then, she'd picked up a beater's bat, and when Uncle Noah had encouraged her to try using it as an outlet for any bad feelings she had, she'd found she'd rather enjoyed it. Even her mum had been happy with the effect it had had, although she had been asked not to deliberately hit anything at Percy, even if she was annoyed with him.

(She usually was annoyed with him, in fairness, but she'd never deliberately hurt him even before having been asked, because he was her brother, after all, and she loved him even if he drove her up the wall.)

"Hello," she greeted, smiling a little nervously at Teddy. He was pretty cool, and it helped that he was cute. But he was basically an adult, which somehow made it easier for Peregrine to interact with him. "Peregrine Piper, I'd like to try out for beater...but I can play chaser or keeper too," she added, as something of an afterthought. She was surprised at how much she wanted to be on the team, but the more she'd thought about it after missing out last time the more she wanted to be part of it. She hesitated a bit seeing Felix...and felt a bit more encouraged to hit bludgers. He'd sent her a rose last Valentine's, and for a moment she thought it might be something meaningful, but Peregrine wasn't blind. She saw the weird vibes between him and Nia and though she didn't know what was going on, it felt like there was something.

But she didn't necessarily hit bludgers at him, although if one or two was lined up in his direction she didn't make any effort to change the trajectory. Mostly she focused on keeping the bludgers away from people, though, imagining they were all the bad thoughts and things she was annoyed about and sending them out of the park. Or, at least off somewhere else. And when that fizzled out, she imagined she was some sort of hero off to slay dragons. Only evil ones, though, because most dragons were good. She actually felt like she did pretty well, she stayed on her broom, she hit most of the bludgers that came her way, and only got a couple of bruises for her troubles. She thanked Teddy for the opportunity when she was done and hoped she might get a chance to make the team.

Fiona was back and ready for the Quidditch season this year. She was sure they'd win again. She believed they would if she were being honest. She had listened to what Teddy had to say. Fiona thought Teddy was a good leader and captain and believed that he would help pull them through for another championship. Fiona nodded along to what had been said before flying in the air, practising some hits, defending players and helping those who were trying out when she could.

Ivy could no say she hadn't been a little disapointed when she had recieved her book list this year. after Fraiser had graduated last year she had hoped that she would have been picked to co-captain, the quidditch team. especially as teddy was facing his NEWTs this year, and it would give a year hand over before he too graduated. She was the longest playing member on the team, and she had worked so hard with the new members, and just training herself, which had shown a marked increase in her goals last year. And it would have been such a huge achievement to be the first person in her family to be captain. It was hard to be the first anything when you were the youngest and your siblings were as infamous as Willow and Linden were while she was in her fifth year and still just trying to find her place. Quidditch was honestly the only career path she had ever considered. even though she knew she had improved she still questioned if she was good enough. she walked into the quidditch pitch a little deflaited and curious to see who had been chosen instead and realised that this year was going to be just teddy, of course it was. he was stanfing in all his glory standing alone talking to the attendees as though his captining had singlehandedly won them the last two championships not the hard work of the entire team.
She let the new players introduce themselves then joined the line. she was so tempted to throw a rock into the cauldron of teddy plans and say that she was trying out for beater. but that would be a disservice to her. she liked being chaser and had put so much time into chasing.
Even though she didnt need to try out as a permanent member of the team, and part of her wanted to just sit and watch and see how things went, she liked getting into the air. "Ivy Cullen, Chaser. let me know how i can help out. oh captain my captain" she said, reffering to an old muggle movie she had watched with lin and cas over the break her tone saccharin sweet as if to hide the bitterness behind it. before taking to the skys and helping out with the chasers. even spending a bit of time in the goals so that Teddy could observe all those trying out and not have to play keeper.

Miles was looking forward to the upcoming year of Quidditch. After all, Gryffindor had won the cup again, and this time he was determined to do more to try and help them reach that goal again. Last year, he hadn't managed to score in any of the matches, which had been more than disappointing. But, he'd been practicing all break and was now back and ready to go and prove that he had improved. Not to mention he was curious to see who would try out and end up taking the open Chaser spot now Fraser had graduated. He rocked on his feet a little as Teddy introduced everything before he hopped on his broom and set off into the air, getting in a little extra practice while he could and helping out those trying out as well.

Tessaria was very disappointed last year when she didn't make the Quidditch team, but after a good conversation with her dad, she knew that she just had to go into it with a positive mindset. And if she yet again failed to make the team, it just meant that she had more time to improve herself and get better for next year. The girl decided that she was going to try for the same position, as she didn't want to try something new and potentially mess it up. She just had to stick with what she knew.

As the captain began speaking to them all, Tess listened intently before heading over to introduce herself when instructed. "Hi, I'm Tess, trying out for beater again." she said with a smile before taking her broom and bat and kicking off gently into the air.

Tess immediately kept her eye out for bludgers. When she saw one coming her way, she focused hard on it and swung her bat right back. She then hit it with all the energy she could muster and it suddenly went flying in the opposite direction. Now she had to focus on some targets. She kept her eye on some people trying out for chaser that were flying around with the quaffle. As one of them went to take a shot, Tess flew over to a bludger and swung her back bat. It collided with the bludger and the bludger was sent straight in their direction, making them fail to score. Tess beamed, but then quickly frowned and apologised to the person before looking for another target.

There weren't too many bludgers out and so Tess had to really work for it. She followed one of the bludgers and began looking for a victim. When she found someone trying out for seeker, reaching for the snitch, she swung her bat back and hit it with the bludger, straight in their direction. It hit their arm and the snitch quickly flew off in the other direction, thankful that Tess had saved it. The girl then went for some more bludgers and some more victims. Some bludger hits were just to hit them, not so much to make someone fail, and this was just so Tess could see how far she could hit it.

By the end of the tryouts, Tess was tired and she really hoped that she was able to show the captain that she was worthy of the position. She thanked him for letting her tryout and headed straight to her dormitory to clean herself up.

It was a no brainer for William to try out for Quidditch again after spending the whole of the previous year as an alternate. There was an open spot on the team and he wanted it! As far as he was concerned, he had done the work to earn it after spending a season as the alternate beater, he knew the other players on the team and how they worked. He waited with the others as people started to try out and when it was his turn he stepped forward in front of Teddy. "William Potter-Cade, trying out for beater again,"

William mounted his broom and climbed into the air with his bat in hand and started to look out for bludgers to, mostly hit away from his fellow players but he wasn't above hitting them at some of his competition. He stalked the skies until he heard the familiar sound of a bludger whistling through the air, William leaned forward on his broom and shot toward it to collide his bat with it and sent it sway from Felix who if he'd been hit would have been somewhat distracted from his seeker tryout. William continued to fly around hitting bludgers away from chasers and seekers, and even hit one at the keeper guarding the hoops just to keep things interesting. Once his time was up he returned to the ground and nodded toward Teddy.

Rose was still an alternate and that honestly suited her just fine for the moment, she felt like she didn't have to worry too much about the pressure mounting on her. She'd been learning from Teddy and she felt like she was in for a good shot when he graduated. Of course she would probably have to continue to try, making sure she was looking after the team, her position - she knew it could just as easily be taken from her and she didn't want that. Not at all. So when she got to the tryouts, she took a couple of deep breaths, hoping someone was watching her. "Rose Edogawa, Keeper." She shifted from foot to foot and then mounted her broom when she knew it was time, flying around the pitch until she go to the hoops. She'd already had practice for the last three years, surely that meant something, right? She hoped so, she wasn't going to pretend she wasn't doing her best. There was a lot of competition in Gryffindor, everyone thought they could be a player and she knew that just wasn't true. Even her classmates, William, Felix, they wanted to do their best as well. She waved to Miles, he was on the team and she was proud he'd managed it, she was glad he'd made it because she really thought he had some talent. Maybe she'd make a good coach like her mum one day. She defended her hoops fiercely, doing her best not to let any of the quaffles in. She took a lead from Teddy, watching him, making sure she followed his tiny movements, learning how to be like him, if she was going to take over from him as Keeper (a position she essentially expected given her years as an alternate by now) she wasn't going to pretend she wasn't willing to work for it. She needed to surpass Teddy to be the best.

Kaysi had kept her word to her father and not tried out for the team during her first year. She knew he disliked the sport. But hearing her mom talk about playing for her house and hearing her grandpa talk of his tales as a professional player had more than given the young girl the itch to play. She knew she was good but she assumed everyone who tried out thought the same. She would have to be great today.

Tugging her ponytail tight, the second year grabbed her broom and stepped onto the pitch. Some people were already there, in the air for tryouts. Kaysi took a deep breath when it was her turn and then announced, "Kaysi Zhefarovich, trying out for Beater." She kicked off the ground, rising quickly and getting her bearings and balance with the bat. Then she was off. Kaysi had been flying for as long as she could remember and it showed. She moved about with confidence and chased after a bludger. Once she was close enough, she smacked it hard with the bat, saving another girl flying about from being hit.

Kaysi smiled and continued flying, chasing after bludgers and smacking them. Although she connected with the bludger nearly every time, she didn't always succeed in hitting another player. Still, when she landed, she felt she had done a good job. Kaysi couldn't wait to tell her mom about tryouts!

AJ knew the chances of getting on the team in his first year were slim, maybe nonexistent. But he couldn't help wanting to try. At the very least, it would prepare him for really trying next year. It had been a bit scary to ask the captain (who was also Head Boy) if he could try out, but here he was. He had a few positions he liked to play, but he wanted to try out for the same position his dad had played when he had been at school. His heart sank a little as he watched the older students go first and heard how many people were trying out as beater. But he still said the same thing as he stepped forward. "AJ Carpenter, trying out for beater." He said firmly.

He took to the air and started circling the pitch. He followed a bludger and hit it. It was a solid hit, but he didn't manage to hit any of the players. He chased it and hit it again, this time he managed to angle it so it hit someone. He grinned, at least he wasn't doing terribly. He hit the bludgers a few more times, managing to hit two more people and protect at least one from an incoming one. When his turn was over, he flew back down and wiped his forehead. He hoped he would make alternate, but even if he didn't, he was glad he had tried out.

Victoria was very, very well aware that out of every student on the pitch today she might be the least familiar with quidditch. Ever since she had learned about the school during her school shopping she had taken a deep dive into the sport. She'd been reading about it, figuring out everything there was to know. How many players made up a team, what positions there were, what each player's main goal was, the rules. You name it, she's read about it. On top of that she'd been chatting to Oliver who was far more familiar with the sport than she was and had been able to tell her some new things too. She had also sought out Teddy and asked him some more about what sort of skills were important and what made a good quidditch players. Things a person experienced with the sport could tell her far better than any book could. And then she had asked if she could join the tryouts. She didn't really think there was any chance of her actually getting a spot on the team, but it'd be fun to try. Play for a little while.

"Victoria Barron, trying out for chaser." Vic smiled when it was her turn to step up and tell Teddy what she was here for. She was a little nervous, mostly because she would have to focus on managing her flying as well as actually playing, but she was excited too. She loved a challenge and this felt like a great one. She got on her broom and took a second to steady herself once she was in the air. Luckily, she did a lot of roller skating, which meant her balance was pretty good. That was one less thing she needed to focus on. Vic spend a little while watching the others play, matching their actions to everything she had learned about the sport so far before actually joining in herself. She noticed one of the older players look her before tossing the ball, no, the quaffle, her way. Pleased that she managed to catch it Victoria made sure to lock the quaffle under her arm like she had seen some of the others do before pushing her broom towards the hoops another girl was keeping. She gave it her best shot, trying to aim the quaffle off-center a bit so it might not go where the other girl expected but watched it get blocked anyways. It felt like it had been a good attempt though. She had managed to stay on her broom, keep a hold of the quaffle and eventually try her hand at scoring without things going terribly wrong. Victoria spend the remainder of try-outs flying around, tossing the ball a few times, almost dropping it once, and trying her hand at scoring a goal a few more times and watching the quaffle actually sail through a hoop once. When their time was up she headed back down to the ground, happy with how things had went. It had been challenging, exciting, fun and that felt like pretty much all she could ask for at the moment.
