Evan had been genuinely surprised when Charlie the hit wizard had come back. And not just once, but he had been coming back repeatedly. She had thought that after he'd saved her and escorted her home, he would have forgotten her. Since he was coming over rather frequently now, Evan had made the effort to fill her apartment more.

She now had a coffee table, and a few shelves along her walls with one or two knick knacks on them. She'd even bought a bookshelf, and while it was still mostly empty, it did hold six books and a candle. She'd gone out today and bought two pillows for the couch, and a throw blanket folded over the back of it.

Evan had been trying to dress a bit nicer when Charlie came over. Before she'd worn mostly jeans and large sweaters. For the first time today, she was wearing something pretty. She'd bought it a few days ago. It was a bit simple, just a soft blue sundress, but she liked it. She'd even done her hair, hoping it would look pretty for Charlie.

She was puttering about a bit now, just waiting. The tea and cakes were already out. She hummed softly, fluffing the pillows for the tenth time.

Charlie knocked on the door three times before he stepped back from it. It had been several months since the incident at the shoe shop and at this point, he wasn't surprised anymore that he was knocking on her door again. In those months the two of them had often visited one another to talk or hang out or go for walks. At first, he stopped by every now and then to check up on the woman and make sure that she was doing alright after the whole shoe shop incident, but after a while, he had genuinely and thoroughly come to enjoy Evan's companionship, and he knew that she felt the same way. While he waited for the door to swing open, Charlie fixed the bouquet of flowers that he had brought with him. Charlie knew next to nothing about flowers or which ones she would like but had gone and bought a modest bouquet of flowers for her anyway so that she could put them in the apartment.

Evan lit up when she heard the door and she hurried to answer it, opening it and smiling shyly at Charlie. “Hi,” She greeted, feeling the blush on her cheeks. She reached out to steal the flowers. “These are really pretty, thank you.” She murmured. No one had ever bought her flowers before. Well, other than herself. She left the door open and hurried back inside. She got the flowers into her only vase with some water, setting them on the kitchen table. She fidgeted with them a moment. They really lit up the room. She smiled, admiring the bouquet, before turning to look for Charlie.

Charlie smiled widely at Evan when she opened the door. Even though he knew that it wasn't true, because they saw each other on a regular basis, it felt to him as if they hadn't seen each other in ages. "Just as pretty as you," the Hit Wizard said sheepishly, feeling his cheeks burn red as he said it. She did really look lovely in this blue sundress, she also looked better than she did months before when he looked at her now. Something had changed, she seemed almost more alive. He followed her inside and slipped his shoes off, not wanting to bring dirt with him into the house. "How are you doing?" Charlie asked as he followed her into the kitchen.

Charlie’s words had made Evans face flush, but she tried to play it off. Finished with the flowers, she turned back to him, smiling shyly up at him and peeking up through her bangs. “I’m doing alright, I just finished a big order,” She replied, twisting a strand of hair around her finger. “How are you?”

Charlie watched as she put the bouquet of flowers in a vase. It was a good thing that she liked them because he didn't think it was a very nice bunch of flowers at all. Perhaps he should let the flower picking be done by someone with actual taste and knowledge next time instead of picking them himself. "Oh, that's nice. Perfumes again, or did you finally decide to sell those first-class soups or yours?" He said jokingly. Her soups really were that good. "I've been doing alright. It's been a busy week at the bureau, so I've mostly just been dealing with that." He wouldn't be surprised if she would make a comment about how tired he looked, as he had been in the office well into the morning hours for most of the week.

Evan smiled shyly, moving past him towards the living room. “Oh, um, candles, actually,” She offered, picking up her tea and settling down on one side of the loveseat. His tea was already made, just the way he liked it. She sipped on her drink, listening as he talked about work. “As long as you’re safe,” She fretted, rubbing her thumb against her cup. “I worry about you,” She admitted gently. She worried a lot more than she cared to admit, perhaps more than he would like, but she couldn’t help it.

Charlie followed Evan into the living room, surprised to see that there were two mugs of tea on the table. It was a sweet gesture and he actually genuinely appreciated the fact that she didn't make fun of his tea-drinking habits. Milk was a must-have ingredient and no one was ever going to tell him otherwise. "So I checked out that Internet-thingy Muggles use. It's rather confusing, the Internet is." He had wanted to buy something from her store but couldn't even get past opening the web browser because he didn't know what to do next. And he couldn't ask the Muggles for help because how wouldn't that look suspicious? He seated himself next to her on the loveseat and grabbed the mug of tea that she had made for him. "You worry about me?'' Charlie asked. "Why? I'm perfectly safe from harm. The only scary thing is the late-nighters, to be honest," he said jokingly.

Evan blinked. "I could show you, if you'd like?" She offered gently. She lived a very mixed lifestyle. When he asked why she was worried, she looked surprised. Unthinkingly, she reached out a hand to set on his knee. "Charlie," she spoke gently. "We met because of a dangerous situation. It could have gone wrong in so many ways." She leaned in, her eyes sincere with worry.

Charlie smiled when she offered to show him the Internet. He knew a number of witches and wizards that made good use of this particular Muggle invention, so why shouldn't he. He also didn't mind being taught the ways of the Internet by the woman next to him on the couch, as it would give him another excuse to drop by. "I would like that very much, thank you," the man replied before sipping from his tea. It surprised him when Evan put her hand on his knee, though the way she looked at him surprised him even more. He could tell that she was genuinely worried about him. A part of him appreciated that. "I promise you," Charlie said, looking into her eyes. "That nothing will happen to me, I've been in plenty of dangerous situations before and have survived all of them so far." He tried to say it as reassuring as possible but did not know if he succeeded.

Evan wasnt reassured by his words. "Charlie," she complained softly, biting her lip. She leant in, nuzzling her face against his neck, her nose tracing along his jaw. She brought a hand up to his chest, her fingers clutching lightly at his shirt. She couldn't figure out the words so she just whined softly.

Charlie carefully put his mug of tea down on the table when Evan leaned in to nuzzle her face against his. He should have known that she wouldn't be reassured by his words because they had had this conversation before in their months of friendship. "Evan," he said, grabbing her face with both hands to make her look into his eyes. "I. Will. Be. Fine. I promise." There was a reason why he hadn't been injured on the job yet. He knew what he was doing and he was good at what he was doing whenever he was sent out to do his job. Their faces were so close together that he could see the freckles on her face properly for the first time. He liked them.

Evan blushed deeply when Charlie grabbed her face, looking at him with wide eyes and swallowing nervously. "I-i…" she stuttered. "Okay," she agreed softly, her heart thundering. She would believe anything he said like this. The urge to kiss him hit her, and she bit her lip, trying to behave. Charlie was such a strong, wonderful, amazing person. He would never be interested in someone like her. Her cheeks flushed, and she looked away, biting her lip. But with Charlie's hands on her face, she couldn't help but peek but up at him.

It was difficult to tell whether or not she truly believed him and his promise to her but Charlie smiled anyway. They had come to know each other well enough for him to tell that her worries were genuine, which was why he wanted to reassure her that nothing bad was going to happen to him. He couldn't be quite sure of that, of course, but he liked to think that nothing bad was going to happen to him on the job. After a couple of moments of being lost in his own thoughts, he realised that he had not yet let go of Evan's face even though she had already agreed with him. He found himself staring at her instead. He liked her eyes, thought that they were a pretty hazel colour. He also liked the way they looked back at him, with compassion. She was kind and brilliant and once more Charlie could feel the butterflies in his stomach. The last time the two of them were this close together they shared a kiss - something he had not been able to forget ever since it happened. ‘’Evan? May I kiss you?’’ he asked softly, almost whispering it.

Evans heart felt like it had stopped, before fluttering in her chest as he spoke. Her hand slid up his chest. This was all so unexpected, but it felt... right. Charlie was so kind and sweet to her, always checking in to make sure she was alright and never making any demands. He was strong, and warm, and she felt comfortable around him, safe for the first time in a long time. She swallowed nervously, before letting out a soft sigh to try and steady her racing heart. "Please?" She breathed, leaning in just a bit and shutting her eyes.

Charlie leaned in as well and closed his eyes as he pressed his lips onto hers, kissing her gently. He liked their friendship, he truly did and didn't want to have anything happen to it that could break that friendship, but he couldn’t help but wonder if there was something more between them. He certainly couldn’t deny that he wanted there to be something between them because he had grown to care for her a great deal in the months after the shoe shop incident. And he got the feeling that she may be wondering the same thing, which is why he asked if he could kiss her. If there was something between them then that would surely become apparent now.

Evan melted into Charlie easily. The kiss felt wonderful, somehow better than their first. When it broke, she buried her face in his neck again, hidden in his side and curled up around him. A million emotions flooded over her as she hid her face in his neck. A little trepidation, a bit of hope. She bit her lip, clutching at his shirt and giggling shyly. He was so sweet- could he really like her? As more than just friends? It seemed like almost too much to ask, like it was too good to be true.

Charlie didn’t want Evan to break the kiss but she had and then curled herself around him. He put an arm around her and leaned back on the couch. He did not think that this would happen when he first thought of visiting the woman today but he was glad that it did. ‘’I liked that,’’ he said softly, rubbing his thumb over the arm she had put around him.

Evan smiled shyly, nodding at his words. "It was really nice," she admitted softly. She was never really sure what to think of her relationship with Charlie. Maybe he had just been caught in the moment like he'd been that day so long ago. She wouldn't exactly complain. It was nice. Though a little part of her hoped for more, she didn't dare nurture that hope. She didn't want to set herself up for disappointment.

Charlie smiled when Evan agreed with him, happy to hear that she enjoyed it just as much as he had done. Things would have obviously been awkward if she hadn't. Even though he asked if he could kiss her, he still wanted to make sure that she was fine with it. Things were moving faster than one would normally expect but it felt right with Evan. He felt happy whenever he was around her. Who knew that things could turn out like this in just a year? ‘’And I like you, too,’’ he admitted.

Evan was surprised by Charlies words, peeking up at him in shock. "You… like me?" She asked softly, the words sounding strange on her tongue. What did he mean, like? As in, they were friends? She certainly hoped so.

‘’Yeah,’’ Charlie answered. He wasn’t sure if she knew what he meant by those words, so knew that he would probably have to say it again. Better and clearly this time. ‘’I like you, a lot. A whole lot. Like more than friends. Like I want to kiss you again and not be worried that it might be weird.’’ It was still pretty vague to be quite honest but surely it would get the message across?

Evie felt the blush heating her cheeks. She shifted, sitting into his lap. She couldn't think of anything to say at first, just studying him quietly. "Really?" She breathed, her heart thundering in her chest. She couldn't think of anything to say, so she just leaned in and kissed him again- softly, almost unsure that he would let her.

Charlie nodded at Evan’s words and knew that she must have understood the meaning behind his words. He held onto her carefully once she was sitting on his lap and did not hesitate to kiss her back. He had wanted this for some time now and couldn’t help but think that she felt the same way about it. He smiled as they kissed.
